Hi I have just found this new web-site (I am told it is new) for Cornwall. It looks good so I thought I would pass it on, it is in its infancy and may have glitches. www(.)cornwall-opc(.)org Regards Jill |

Thanks for this, Jill. Yes, it is new, as you say. At present one can still reach the Cornwall OPCs through GENUKI website, too, where it says the following. Joy ................ The Online Parish Clerk (OPC) Project . The OPC project is designed to get volunteers to take on the responsibility for a parish or parishes. Their role will be to make look-up facilities available to people via the roots lists; they are contactable by email. Each OPC may have a transcribed set of his/her parish records, census and any other local history information that would be useful to a family historian with an interest in the parish. However, it takes time to transcribe and accumulate material, so an OPC may not yet have full data for all these sources. Links to this information is available from each parish page. [The term OPC, as used here, refers to a collector of genealogically-related materials such as (but not limited to) Church register transcripts, land tax assessments and census information, and the OPC should in no way be confused with the County Council appointed Parish Clerks. All OPCs are unpaid volunteers who are willing to assist others in their genealogical research]. |

I've had very mixed results with Cornish OPC's. When they're good, they really are extremely helpful. When they're bad, they're worse than useless. |
