When you go the the GRO, can you look up the data and view all of the data found on certificates? I have some family members that i think are correct but cannot be sure without birth Certificates and did not want to buy all 15 of them. Many thanks

The day may come, but not yet.

The GRO lists are just indexes which allow you to apply for the certs. There's not much more than a name & reference at most, generally. Later lists start to include age at death, spouse surnames to match marriages. Some local offices also have searchable sites, and sometimes there's more info on their search results. www.ukmd.org.uk has a list of local office sites. If you go down that route, the local offices use their own refs, not the GRO ones. Christine

you could view the bapt records. If they are available.

Another thought. Were they all in one area? Were they likely to be baptised? If so, you may be able to get copies of the Baptism Register pages (for about 40p each), and they occasionally have quite a lot of info - but not always the actual birth date. EVen if you don't get birth dates, you might be able to narrow down which ones belong to your family, by checking the parents' names. Incidentally, you can add parents' names as a checking point when ordering certs from GRO. If the ref you quote doesn't match all the info you give, then you get charged only the search fee instead of the full cert fee. Christine
