Hi Trudi I've found their marriage as follows: Sampson Williams m. Catharine Pinwill on 28 Dec 1801 at Plymouth St Andrew. I can't find ANY children baptised in the Plymouth parishes! I've looked under William and Sampson but no luck. Maggie Update: If they were married in 1801 they would have been older than 50 in 1841 (unless they were about 10 when they got married) so I looked for them aged about 65 on the census. The only possible Catharine is as follows: Clarence Place, Stoke Damerel Catharine Williams, 63, Ind, Out of county Sophia, 22, out of county HO107 - 0275, Folio 19, Page 33, Entry 17. There were no Sampson Williams at all and all the possible William Willimas were married to different wives i.e. not a Catharine. Hope this helps! |

Thank-you so much to Heather and Maggie for you help. Have been trying to dig through all my files here and come up with something else. I found a record of a death in Exeter on a Sampson William Williams in 1844 on Free BMD. Have not verified this yet though. So they could have been living around Exeter. Found another daughter Catherine Williams b 1811 father Sampson Williams and mother Catherine at Stoke Dameral. So that would make her 30years of age but most likely married in 1841. So sorry thats all the info I have on this family. I feel surely there must have been more children in this family. Many thanks for your help Trudi |

Hi Trudi There are loads of William Williams on the 1841 census for Devon and about 30 with an age of 45 - 55. Do you know whether William and Catherine were born in Devon? This might help to narrow it down. There are 2 Catherines (of about the right age) but neither are in Stoke Damerel or any parish in Plymouth. Any more information that you have would be helpful. Hi Everyone I was hoping sks would be able to lookup for a William Sampson Williams and wife Catherine from Stoke Damerel. They would both be around 50 years of age in 41. William often used the name Sampson Williams as well. I dont have much to go on unfortunately I know they married in 1801 at St Andrews Plymouth Had son William Williams in 1801 in Stoke Damerel Would just liie to see what happend to them after the birth of their children. Many thanks in advance Trudi |
