RG12/1373 Folio 10 Page13 Can anyone please decipher the occupation of Charles Bennett. Also, the page has the names William and Dora Bennett, unless my eyesight is extremely bad, this is not their surname on the actual cenus page. I believe it may be Wright, do any of you helpful people on here agree? Last question, please can someone read the place of birth for the Dora. Charles's = Hornchurch Emma's = Rainham Dora's = ?? William = Hornchurch? Confirmation or correction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Carol |

Looks like Dora and Williams surname is WRIGHT but not sure how that could be. Charles is listed as head and Dora and William listed as daughter and son, with no indication of being step children. It is possible that they were stepchildren of Charles but the enumerator just put daughter and son. |

Thank you so very much. I can't believe how quickly you people answer!!! To Carol My G. Grandparents were Charles and Emma Bennett. Emma's previous name was Wright. I had assumed that was her maiden name but now I am guessing that Emma had been married before, hence my belief that Dora and Willam were to her first marriage. Carol ( in presently glorious Manchester..lol) |

Hi Jim I have come to the same conclusion. It would appear that Emma had been married before, everything points in that direction. Until I explored further I assumed that Wright was Emma's maiden name. I have found the same info as you have posted on here, also that it looks like Emma didn't waste anytime re-marrying after Arthur died!!. Thanks for your help. Carol x |
