Hi all,can anyone confirm the whereabouts of Lincoln Maternity Hospital in the mid 1960's? I have seen references to it being at Nocton, next to Nocton Hall and was linked to RAF Nocton.I have also seen the question asked on another site but no one answered the request. Anybody clear this one up for me? |

Hi Glen, I was born at Lincoln Maternity Hospital in 1962 and I am positive that it was not at Nocton but in Lincoln itself. I am at work right now, can I get back to you tomorrow? I will ring my Mum who can confirm it. Perhaps someone could nudge this for you. Karen |

Thanks Karen, seem to think that it would be in Lincoln, but there were certainly several births there, but i think they were mostly to service personell. Seeing as i spent 7 weeks there as a teeny tiny 7 week early arrival i probably should know, but can't remember that far back lol. |

I'm sure it would have been part of (or attached to) the 'County'. |

Nocton was solely RAF. The maternity home was not attached to the Hospital in 1958 but sorry caan't remember the address. |

I just remembered that I have a 1960s street map of Lincoln. The Maternity Hospital is not named. There is a separate block on Greetwell Rd (which did not appear on a 1928 map) which is about 150 yards north of the main County Hospital building - I bet that was it. The County Hospital was on Sewell Rd. |

I think it was known as the 'City Maternity Home' if that is any help? |

Hi Glen, I have been in touch with my Mum who still lives in Lincoln and I was born in Lincoln City Maternity Home in Nov 1962. I t was on Macauley Drive at the north end of the town. It does not exist any more and Mum believes it was closed during the 1980s. Hope this helps Karen |
