Don't forget Elizabeth can be shortened to Isabel, so your Eliza may also turn up as Isabel. Julie try www.whatsinaname.net

It can be shotr for Elizabeth but is also a name in its own right. I have 3 sisters - Eliza, Elizabeth and Ann Eliza. Jay

Eliza is a very popular name in its own right. I suppose some Elizabeths might be called Eliza as a pet name, but Liz/Lizzie or Bessy/Bess/Beth is more common. I also have a family with an Elizabeth and an Eliza. There's also an Emma. I thought they probably had a dress with a big embroidered E on it they wanted to get the wear out of! nell
