Have you had a look at the Help Centre- FAQ's? There is a section on Building your Family Tree.

If I understand your question, you are trying to add a sibling to an existing child? If so, click Add Sibling, not Add Child. There also has to be at least one parent to be able to add a single child.

Not sure that you can add to another person's tree on here

I assume you have your mum's login details and have accessed her account.

If you look at the tree on the "immediate family" view -

click on one of the parents, then "Add", then "Child".
Fill in the details, then "Save".

Alternatively, on the tree, on "immediate family" view, click on the existing child, then "Add", then "Sibling".
Fill in the details, and save.

If that doesn't work, contact [email protected].
They'll take a few days to reply.

Or if we have misunderstood what you're asking, please clarify.

LATER EDIT (22/3/24):
Actually, this also works on other views of the tree - "Pedigree", "Ancestors", "Descendants" and "Full".
Don't know what you were trying originally - but glad we could help!

Thanks for your help.
Using the immediate family option works
