I have 'The great war for civilisation 1914-1919' medal. It's for Pte S W Peacock, I believe his number is either 260037 or 260057. It was in with my father's possessions. I would love to return to Pte Peacocks relatives. I have looked on findmypast with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Only about 30% of WW1 records have survived, so the chance of his being among them is quite low

Have a look at FreeBMD to find the births of Mabel's children, searching with the two parental surnames.
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Two registered in Lothingland - 1947 and 1955.
You can then look for marriages - the 1947 daughter (Gloria) married in Suffolk in 1974.

She's listed on the ER in Lowestoft at least up to 2018, under her maiden surname.

Sadly, she died this year:
https://www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk/family-notices/in-memoriam/gloria-brady-429129

They had two daughters, born in Norfolk, in 1976 and 1985.
The undertakers might be willing to forward a letter from you to Gloria's family.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 11 Sep 2022 18:36

Mabel's son born 1955 probably married in Suffolk in 1974., and had a son in 1975 in Norfolk.

Can't see the son or his parents definitely on ERs.
