Possibly too late for your Richard to be their father.

Although it's pure speculation, and proves nothing about your Richard 1729 -

(as Erika says, it's best to work back to these people step by step - in fact I would say it's the only way to be sure you're related)

maybe Richard (born 1755 in Iden) is the same Richard who married in Rye in 1782.

According to Google Maps, Iden is only 2.5 miles from Rye.
