Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Jun 2021 13:22

Plenty of room in my shed for someone to sleep in with lots of junk either side. Ha ha ha.

Just received a letter from Stratton Hospital with my appointment for my hip xray on Monday 28th June at 11.30am. So neither hosp hung about did they?

I hope you are having a good day out at Coombe Park AnnG. I don't think I have ever been there.

I think it's dreadful that you had to ask to sanitise your hands at the hospital Mel. Ours has sanitiser all over the place and free masks at all the entrances, and where practical there are one way systems. When we took our friend recently we dropped her at the main entrance. When she had finished she rang to say she hadn't been allowed back out that way and we had to drive round to the back of the hospital to pick her up. I know everywhere is different but I would have thought the minimum the hospital should be doing is providing sanitiser and checking that patients are using it.

Do you think I need new glasses Ann? I've read one of your posts as saying "I had a good night's sleep with just a shed over me" :-S

OH is calling that he's made a sandwich for us so I had better go and have it and tell you about our Garden Centre visit later.

Good morning all, 17 deg here too at the moment. Hope it doesn't get too hot. I am going with a Friend to Coombe Park (NT) we are booked in for 11.30 so being picked up at 10.30. difficult to know what to wear, I have been before, the grounds are huge and a river runs through so hoping for some shade. I think I might carry a long sleeved cotton shirt to put on to protect my arms if it is very hot. (sunscreen of course.).

Got up and went to make the bed (bedding clean on two days ago, pulled the fitted bottom sheet to tighten it and it came apart. No idea how old it is but pretty old I expect. So had to change that, good job I was up early.

Good morning all

I hope you had a good night Mel and are feeling more comfortable now. Did they say when you will get the results? Take it easy today.

Lovely swan Ann.. You can almost feel its feathers and you’ve caught the reflection well. That sunset is amazing. It looks as though everything’s on fire.

It’s going to be a hot day. It’s already 17 degrees and is supposed to reach 29 by this afternoon. We are thinking of going out to a garden centre before it gets too hot so I’d better get a move on.

Meant to say, hope you feel more comfortable tomorrow. How long do you have to wait for the scan results? Not too long I hope.

AnninGlos Report 15 Jun 2021 19:59

I am surprised there was no sanitiser, in our hospital you can’t move far without seeing bottles of the stuff and free masks. Never seen anyone wiping door handles but most doors stay open.

That's good you are back Mel, but that was poor that there was no sanitiser and you had to ask for some. Some of those examinations can be very uncomfortable but it is good it is done now. Will you have to go back for the results?

Glad you liked the last picture. I didn't think I would be able to do this one very well but it turned out better than I expected which is always good! lol. I still find the pastels clumsy to use and never know where the marks will be they are so big.

OH is watering the garden. I think it is supposed to be hotter again tomorrow so I shall have to do the wall pots in the morning. I do feel tired so it will be another early night for me while OH watches the footie.

s I said in my email the swan is like looking at a photo of the real thing. That water and the reflection is just wonderful.

Had a scan and an internal and he hurt me. Feeling a bit sore now and tummy feels odd. Took my temp when I went in but no sanitiser at the desk or the door for us to use it was'nt till I went to have myself weighed and measured that I asked if I could sanitise my hands. I used it again onthe way out.Nobody wiping door handles only the nurse wiping everything down in the room you had to go in.

Afternoon All,

Slept well with just a sheet over me. A good night's sleep really helps! I hope Vera gets a better night tonight.

I see Mel is on her way for her appointment now. I hope she gets seen quickly and manages to park ok.

I did my pastel class this morning. More water as we were practising reflections. Then I did a nice somerset pork lunch with pork steaks as we needed to use some veg up. OH has washed up things like the steamer. He saw our neighbour on the front and took the opportunity to mention all their ivy forcing it's way through our wooden fence. He has a gardener coming in a few days to cut their hedge across the back and is going to ask him to take it down. They had their lawns taken up a few months ago and replaced with slate on the front and gravel at the back so we think they have started to struggle doing the garden. The chap is my age. They bought a caravan the year before last and have only been away in it a few times. He told OH they are going to Norfolk for a month in August and are paying to have the caravan towed there as it will be less hassle.

While it's so hot I am carrying on with my pictures. OH has a meeting tonight.

Shopping was late and I am now off to Barnstaple.

AnninGlos Report 15 Jun 2021 12:48

Vera yes I have to get to the post with great grandaughter's card for the weekend too.

I thought it was me with J royals as I didn't think they were special at all when I had them this year so they are just trading on the name now.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 15 Jun 2021 12:38

Tesco and Sainsbury online both have pre-packed Jersey Royals though I couldn't see loose ones. They don't taste like they used to anyway because the local seaweed is seldom used as fertiliser now. I had some on Sunday, cooked with mint, but the taste wasn't special at all. They could have been any small potato.

Sorry to hear that your friend John is still so poorly Frank. It must be a worry for Carolyn.

You got some nice plants at the Garden Centre AnnG. I always see plants I want to buy but I haven't got much spare space now. Those toasties sound good too.

Infuriating when you lose posts isn't it Mandy? I should think we've all done that at different times.

Right, I must get a couple of birthday cards written and in the post. They are wanted for Saturday but mail has been a bit unreliable around here lately so I'm getting them in the post in good time. Eldest granddaughter and step-grandson have their birthdays the same day.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jun 2021 11:30

Jersey royals seem to be mostly out of stock, I wonder if it was a bad harvest.

Take care driving later Mel and hope it is not too hot in the car. Take a bottle of water with you to drink while waiting in the hospital. Are you going on your own?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Jun 2021 09:06

Morning Vera Anng and all,

Thanks for the wishes for me today Vera. Looks like its going to be another hot day here. I hope the shopping comes early.

Two subs today my Jersey Royal pots and my lamb chops are subbed for lamb rump steaks. The teddies can go back as I have some of those and did'nt like them much. They were watery.

Wrote this at 8am and forgot to post it!!

Good morning

Another sleepless night (sigh). I think it is going to be another warm day but perhaps not quite as hot as yesterday.

Mel, I hope your hospital appointment goes well. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you.

Enjoy your day everyone whatever you are doing.
