I’m glad you got your washing dry Mandy. You did better than me. I checked the forecast this morning and it wasn’t supposed to rain till this afternoon. Just as I got 2 machine loads on the line around 10 am it started raining and I had to bring it all back in again :-|. It’s still raining now and is blooming cold for June.

Gosh Mel, those delphiniums are tall. Don’t be tempted to go up the border till you are sure you can bend more easily. You don’t want to make things worse.

I’m still really struggling with my back but I’m trying to keep moving and doing things for my own sanity. If it isn’t improving in a few days I’ll self refer to physio. I’ve done a few jobs today and am resting now. I’ve told OH that he is on dinner duty. I don’t think he can ruin cold chicken and salad, followed by strawberries.

Yes we have a window open at night but oh has the telly on when he goes to bed so they are drawn to the light. I have order one of those fly screens for the bedroom so lets hope that does the trick.

Back is a bit easier today so I am trying not to bend too much. Trouble is I want to get more plants in the border and that involves bending and digging holes.

The wind has blown on of my delphiums down so I need to tie that up too. They have grown so tall this year they must be at least 7 foot if not more.

Anng I woke early this morning could not get back off to sleep so i laid reading for about an hour and then dropped off until about seven thirty .

Oh Mel don't those midgy bites itch ,did you have a window open last night so they got in .
How is the place today where the tick got you and the pain in your back has that eased a bit .

Mornig Vera and all,

Hadf a lay in this morning. Its a bit windy here today and chily with it. Oh is out with doing stuff to his mower I think he's waiting for a bit to arrive but getting on with other things too. He is making a thing that raises and lowers the mower deck on the old one as it never had one and he could only cut the grass one length as it did'nt raise or lower so its keeping him quiet out there.

I think the midges have had a feast on me inthe night as I have bites on my face and neck and chest and I know it was'nt oh.

Good morning all. couldn't get back to sleep this morning, awake very early.. Only 12 degrees so far so not very warm. It was very cold here late afternoon yesterday, I even put the heating on very low. It is not on now so feels very cold again. that is the worst of our weather we go from one extreme to the other.
Longest day today I think.

Annx was not on here yesterday, saw her on the board elsewhere so presumably just busy.

I wanted to pick some rhubarb yesterday but it grows at the end of the small path through the wild flowers, after the rain in the morning it was too wet to walk through the path so I went without. I enjoyed my roast chicken, sprouts, sweetheart cabbage, carrots and Jersey Royals though.

Nothing exciting on today.

Yes I was too when I had my minor op. Try that Mel.

I do like a weekly order Vera and I don’t go to the shops at all at the moment so it works for me, I even buy postage stamps TV paper, envelopes, all sorts so it suits until we get more back to normal. And .I do like Tesco stuff anyway. Yes each to our own, do what suits,

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jun 2021 16:44

Just had a sleep for just over an hour and feel a bit better for it.

I didn’t realise that you were paying the Delivery Saver charge AnnG. I think with that you can have a delivery every day if you want as long as it’s over £40. I turned that down a long while ago as it worked out more expensive for me but if you like a weekly delivery it’s worth doing. Before Covid I used to have Tesco every 4-6 weeks and go to the shops or market once a week for fresh stuff. Since Covid I’ve had a delivery about every 2 weeks and I alternate Tesco and Sainsbury’s. It costs me £4 a month in total. £35 a year is cheap Mel. The main thing is that we are all happy with our own arrangements.

Mel, do you have a phone number to get direct through to the department that did your examination or procedure? Could you ring on Monday and ask them if you should still be so uncomfortable and what you should or shouldn’t do. With my procedures recently I was given the direct line number so I could phone and talk to the right staff without going through the switchboard.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Jun 2021 16:15

Was it just an examination or a procedure Mel. If it was a procedure surely they should have given you some guidance on what you could/couldn't do.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jun 2021 16:02

I only pay £35 a year so never have to pay each time I have an order but I must order £40 or more.

This morning I cleaned the little loo which I use as a bathroom as it has a tiny basin in it and I can manage to have a wash in that if needs be. Oh never uses the little one. So all nice and clean now and I even scrubbed the joints in the plastic frames. Mum use dto smoke in there and the nicotine still comes out of the creases even after 11 years. Same in the spare bedroom which is next on the list for a scrub.

It poured with rain this morning and was really heavy but the gartden enjoyed it and everything looks more colourful now. It made oh come in from working on the old mower. He wants to get that one done as he wants to get back to doing the big zero turn mower.I think he is waiting for a bearing to arrive. The chap who had it before modified it to his requirements and some things never did work on it. Still it keeps him out of my way for a while.

Did'nt enjoy todays race either.......

I am itching to get back up the border but not sure if I should do lots of bending yet. I want to know what they actually did to me in the hospital and why it hurt so much.

Just checked Vera. No service charge, no mention of pick, pack, deliver. Is it anything to do with the fact that I pay £7.99 a month to get advanced orders?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jun 2021 13:55

You must still pay the delivery charge AnnG. With 2 of us and buying stuff for 2 weeks at a time my order is anything from £80 up (today’s is about £130) but I still have to pay the £3 charge. There is an extra charge levied if you want less than £40 delivered. I’ve just checked the confirmation email I had when I finalised my order on Friday and it clearly says Pick, Pack and Deliver...£3.00.

I had a text at midday saying my delivery will be between 5 and 6 pm.

EDIT. I wonder if it varies in different areas. The prices used to vary quite a bit here with weekends being a lot more expensive, then it was changed to a fixed rate of £4.50 or £3.00 if you were more flexible. I thought it was the same all over the country but maybe I got it wrong.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Jun 2021 12:32

Ah, I go for the fixed slot but my order is usually (well always actually so far) over £40 so I have not had to pay anything. I did notice last week when booking that the service charge was £7 on some slots. they were all different prices.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jun 2021 11:08

Missed you there Mel. Sorry your back is still bad and your tum sore. Hope you feel better soon.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jun 2021 11:05

I’ve never tried a rolled up towel AnnG, though I have tried a small pillow. The most comfortable position is sitting up in bed with a couple of pillows arranged behind me but physio say you must never do that. It’s lie right down or sit in an upright chair. To help OH’s back a few months ago we changed our sofa for a very firm one with an upright back. You certainly don’t sink into it and I didn’t like it at first but it’s been a boon this last couple of weeks as it gives a lot of support.

I would think all Tesco stores are the same. When you click on Book A Slot, then Home Delivery, it comes up with the list of dates and times. Above that list are 2 tabs which say something like Fixed Slot and Flexi Slot. It always opens on Fixed Slot but click on Flexi Slot and it comes up with 4 hour slots. On the day of delivery they send you a text telling you which hour they will deliver. I always used to get a text early in the morning but lately they’ve been very bad about that. I haven’t yet heard what time they are coming this afternoon so it’s hard to plan the day. All Fixed Slots are £4.50 and all Flexi Slots are £3.00. Sainsbury’s do something similar but I only have to pay £1 for their flexible slots.

Morningall of you,

I was reading your posts as the leccy went out last night and I did'nt bother to turn the pc back on agian and it has just fallen out of the sky. absolutely pouring I wondered what the noise was.

Still have the pain across my back too and got up at 7.45 and went back in the bedroom for my slippers and oh said come back to bed. He's not usually there when I wake. So I did and did wake back up till 10,15am. with cramp in my right calf. Was wide awake then.

Tummy still a bit sore from the ramming I had at Gynea on Tuesday I don't know what he did to me but it blimmin well hurt at least three times.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Jun 2021 10:02

Good morning Vera. Have you tried lying on your back with a rolled up towel under the part that aches. It sounds as if it needs pressure to stop the pain It is awful when pain stops you sleeping.

Is that an unusual length slot? I have only noticed hour long slots here.

It has been raining here but not much, we were warned it would be heavy rain all day. Wonder if that has changed.

I have done a bedding load, one lot in the drier at the moment. and I cooked myself egg, bacon and toast brunch.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jun 2021 08:32

Good morning AnnG and all

Thick grey cloud and quite chilly here. It’s supposed to rain again later. It was a bad night again because of this blooming back. The most comfortable position was flat on my back with my knees drawn up to my chest but I can’t actually sleep like that. Never mind, I mustn’t keep moaning.

Tesco are delivering this afternoon between 2 and 6 pm and I am waiting for a text from them narrowing it down to a specific hour before I decide whether to have our main meal at lunchtime or in the evening.

I had that thing about photos being too big to send the other day and it came up even with just one photo. I thought it was a problem with Outlook. I left it for a while, tried again later and it was fine. I wonder if Ed was thinking of Dropbox, Mel. I’ve never sent anything on it but I downloaded it to my iPad (for free) when my granddaughter wanted to send me a video.

OH has just come back from his morning walk and I had better get myself dressed. Might bbl

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Jun 2021 07:45

good morning all, not dressed yet and it is quite cold without the heating on. I was awake early but laid there and tried to get back to sleep. that didn't work. Very grey out there but dry so far. Supposed to rain today though.

I have started to get that Mel, photos too big. I think there must have been an update on google to prevent sending them. Have you tried just sending one of them? I have found I can sometimes send them on my Ipad rather than the main desk top.

Nice to hear from Gill to let us all know her progress. Your getting there Gill and all the mess will be well worth it once its all finished.

Oh took the little tick off me tonight and I put TCP on it. Will see what it looks like in the morning. This one was red so he'd had a suck at me.

Can't remember if I said we had the deer and two fawns in the garden again yesterday. I took some videos but I can't send them as they are too big. Ed told me of a site where you can get them made into a file to send to people but he's not said anymore about it.
