:-D :-D Mandy.
Yes I was pleased to hear that the wound was doing well.

Mel yes you probably did have more on your mind than salad stuff. Never mind I am sure you can get it at the shop.

Funny how some people think they can do what they don't want done to themselves Ann. Footie seems to be on an awful lot this year or is it jus tme. Why can't they put on something for those who don't like footie? I am lucky as oh dos'nt like it so its never on in our house.

I hav'nt done any gardening today except this morning I had a sweep up on the road to my shed and then the delivery arrived. This afternoon I cleaned out the big girls so they are all nice and clean now. I washed out all their water bowls and filled them with clean water. What happened they all rushed to dig where I had tipped the dirty water out and then promptly trod in the clean water with muddy feet. I just can't win. :-| :-|

I bought a pack of chinese chicken pieces and when it came it was huge so I am going to cook it all tonight and we will have some for lunch tomorrow. I seem to have forgotten to order some salad stuff this week too as I only have a lettuce. I think I must have had other things on my mind.

Anng its was good news then that your wound is now flat. Hope the nurse on Friday will think its good enough to leave the dressing off for you. You've had to put up wiht this healing for an awful long time.

MillymollyAmanda Report 29 Jun 2021 18:53

Ann we're no where near finding the drummers but we can hear the little blighters .

Vera not had much luck finding the five gold rings but there are plenty of washers :-D

The four calling birds were so noisy we came in and had a cuppa by the time we went back they had gone hoarse .
We got fed up with the three french hens olalal's so they are now in the freezer
and the two turtle doves were doing what turtle doves do so we're now expecting babies very soon .
Anng your very welcome to the Partridge but there's not much meat on his legs :-D

Mel i know you don't want the six geese a laying but are you interested in having the eggs ?

Mel your garden does look lovely so it was nice to hear it from the delivery chap .

Vera hope you've enjoyed your afternoon with your friends .

Anng that very good news your back is healing nicely you must have been pleased to hear that .

Ann football on here to but Colin only watches the England matches .
Good job your cars weren't near the bin it might have gone over onto them ,did he just drive off or did he get out and pick the bin up .

Annx Report 29 Jun 2021 17:56

Ha ha Vera! We weren't as quick as you were we? Looks like I will get the noisy drummers!

Yes I did put my paints away as they get in the way of the phone which I usually put on a shelf out of the way, but with all the scam calls lately, I've put it back down between lessons. I still need to finish and send yesterday's painting to the teacher though as well as carry on with my latest one I have started.

How nice the driver complimented you on your garden Mel (well deserved). People often think something nice but don't think to say it.

I'm getting a bit fed up of all the tv footie now. OH seems to have ground to a halt with doing anything but watch lately. Mind you his stiff neck is only just improving. My suggestion that perhaps the cook should grind to a halt and watch tennis instead was shortly met with a promise to get some weeding done tomorrow!

Yes I saw you could buy publisher on it's own AnnG but I thought why buy if something free will do what I want, so I will look at those first. With thinking about the possibility of selling, I wanted simple printing inside. That's good news about the wound and that you may not need dressings again. I see you got some tests too. They are easy to use once you have done the first. They are the same tests we got when they sent out random test kits at the start of the pandemic.

Gawd knows what he was doing, but I heard our bin crash over and an old boy in a medium sized campervan was manouevring off the road and back and forth on and at the end of our drive. If it hadn't been the bin that he knocked over he would have been over the rocks and onto the garden. He is a friend of one of our neighbours and the neighbour came out and jumped in and they drove off. I can only think that he had to move out of the way of a vehicle coming down the close. The same neighbour put posts along the edge of his drive as he was cross about people coming onto his drive and now his visitors are doing it. :-S OH said he has watched the old boy before and he is a liability and can't position the vehicle at all.

Vera hope you have had an enjoyable afternoon with your friends.
You beat me to it with the 5 gold rings!!! :-D :-D don't think I could keep up with all those pipers playing or even worse all those Lords leaping around. I will probably end up with the partridge!

Back from nurse. Tanya this time again. She said it is now completely flat and much smaller so she has not put on any more cream. She thinks that on Friday when I go they might well be able to leave the dressing off. Trouble is, it is a different nurse again on Friday, one I have not seen before.

While I was there I also called into the adjacent chemist and got a set of the rapid flow tests.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 29 Jun 2021 13:43

Mandy, if you are sharing the goodies out I’d like the five gold rings please :-D

I have had a h/w morning. OH hoovered right through while I dusted and tidied up, and cleaned toilets and basins etc.

It’s a dry day here so far but that’s about the best you can say about it. It’s just grey and cloudy, not a sign of any sun.

I hope the nurse finds you are still healing up well AnnG.

We have our friends coming for a cuppa this afternoon. It’s so nice to be able to do “normal” things again, though we are still being very cautious and are only meeting with friends we know are equally careful.

Better go and change out of my old h/w clothes before they get here.

Yes I thought you were going to have a little rest from painting too Ann when you said you had put your paints away. I have started two little things but got on with the gartden while I can. That was good of the garage to only charge oh for the bulb if their custom is down.

Ann good luck with the nurse appointment hop[e its good news.

We had a driver come in with a delivery and oh said he told him we had a beautiful garden and so well kept and on his radio he was listening to Debussy and spoke very well. Not the usual van driver that comes down here or the kind of music they listen to.

I have had a sweep of the road down to the shed this morning, washed out all the big girls drinkers, opened up the little greenhouse and brought the shopping in and have nearly finished the wipe down but stopped to take a pill and see what you lot have been up to.

Mandy yes I will take the three french hens if you don't want them when you find them in the shed but you can keep the three geese a laying as I don't have room for those thank you.

That is strange Ann as I have publisher on my office and it is not the professional one, it is an old copy though. Strange too that when I googled you could buy publisher as stand alone. Still no problem if you have founs another sourse to help when you need it.
Ah, I thought when yesterday you said you cleared the paints away you meant you had put them away for now, obviously not.
You have been busy, I watered the greenhouse and staked some of the wild flowers with supporting hoops as the rain and wind had flattened them a bit. but have done very little else except read the paper on line and chat to a couple of people via email and FB. Nurse appointment at 2.55 so I shall get lunch soon. But will empty the airing cupboard fist I think.

Annx Report 29 Jun 2021 11:43

Morning All,

Tipping it down with rain here now and I've just hoovered the kitchen and Uti while OH has taken his car to get a lightbulb fitted and I've also steam mopped those floors. They should be nice and dry by the time he's back.

Yes, we have 2 boxes of 7 of the tests AnnG. from when Mandy mentioned about them. We got them from the chemist. You don't want to be having to go and get them and risk spreading the virus if you think you may have it. The chemist told OH to just come and get them when we need more. I think we should all be testing ourselves as you can upload the result so they can track where the virus is or isn't spreading. I looked up Publisher and it only comes with the professional version of MS Office which is why I don't have it. I googled and there are a lot of free software versions to do cards with so I will have a dabble when there is time. There's never been any problem filling hours for me. I've started another painting already and the garage clearout keeps beckoning!! In fact there aren't enough hours like Mel says. I don't think either of us have done much craft this last year.

Oh Mandy, I wonder what you will find in the shed today! Mel will take the 3 French Hens off your hands! :-D

I was hoping to sort the cables for the wii tonight at Curry's but OH wants to watch the footie so we'll go in the morning now. We can pop some stuff to the charity shop afterwards and before they open to the public.

OH is back now as I didn't post straightaway and they only charged him £3 for the bulb and fitted it for nothing. I suppose being a regular customer helps! He said they told him they are struggling a bit now and only opening half days as trade has plummeted with people not using their cars as much and working at home.

Morning Ann Mandy and all,

Grey here today too but its dry at the moment and I don't think it rained in the night as the road looks dry. Left my washing out under the leanto last night as it did'nt go ut till late.

I see Mandy is playing Shed and Buried again today I wonder if she'll find two turtle doves today? Good luck Mandy. :-D

Big wipe down day for me today. I shall be glad when I get a day I can call my own as I seem to have been having appointments and things to do all the time.

Got subs today too. They have sent silverskin onions instead of pickled onions, tinned sliced carrots instead of mixed veg which I like to put in soups. Medium bin liners in white instead of tie top bin liners. A bigger loaf bloomer I think than I order but thats ok. So three things to go back.

Morning all,

Bright here but a bit cloudy and still quite windy.

Anng I've had those home testers for a few weeks now and Ann got some too ,mine came from the library but boots have them and they usually ask if I need any when I pick our prescriptions up ,they are easy to use and there's a video on line showing you which I think made it easier than reading the leaflet that comes with them, you get seven testers in the box .

Well we're back in the shed again today wonder what treasures we'll find today :-D just having a coffee then we'll make a start .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 29 Jun 2021 07:55

good morning all another grey looking day, supposed to rain but it was yesterday too but, except for a shower first thing it stayed dry. If it does the same today I will have to water the pots and baskets.

Annx you are going to feel a bit lost without your classes. What will you do to fill your time now?

Cases in Gloucester have rocketed up in the past week, mainly, I think, in schools. I was thinking I maybe ought to collect one of the free testing kits just in case. Has anyone else got one? Looks like either the library or the chemist have them.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Jun 2021 20:33

Ann you can get the peel offs in Hobbycraft and sometimes in the works. You can also get them on line saying Happy Birthday, Best wishes, get well soon etc. Most of the cards I send have no words inside.

Vera sounds as if you didn’t exactly sit around doing nothing today. Some of my wild flowers, being tall, are a bit flattened after last nights rain and more exopected tonight.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 28 Jun 2021 19:45

You are putting me to shame. You all seem to have been so busy today and all I have done is faff about.

I changed two beds and got all the washing done but since then I’ve just done a bit of this and a bit of that. Oh, I did pop to Sainsbury’s. I have a delivery from them on Friday afternoon but there were a couple of bits I need before then so I thought Monday lunchtime would be a good time to go as it wouldn’t be very busy. Some of the shelves seemed quite empty which was a bit worrying. I hope it was just that they hadn’t fully restocked after the weekend. There seems to be a world shortage of tinned prunes! I couldn’t get any in my last Tesco order and nor can I get any from Sainsbury’s.

About 4.30 this afternoon the doorbell went and there was a large white van with flashing orange lights outside. They had apparently come to pick up our old boiler and the bits of pipe etc that went with it. We had no warning that they were coming. The driver photographed everything including the space in our garage where the boiler had been stored while we were waiting for them to collect it, which seems a bit silly for something that is now just scrap but he said he had to do it. OH was pleased they came because it meant he could now put the car back in the garage. He doesn’t really like leaving it out.

It sounds as though you had a good spend up at the garden centre Mel and lunch out as well. You deserve a little treat after your hospital visits recently. As Ann says the hospital doctor usually writes to you with a copy to your GP. I hope you don’t have to wait too long.

Sorry to hear you have jarred your back Frank. Hope it’s better soon. It’s good of you to offer to sit with John. You probably won’t need to do anything much but he will enjoy having you to chat to and take his mind off his problems.

You’ve got a lot of tools there Mandy. Maybe you and Ann could set up a tool hire business between you, or you could maybe sell a few on ebay or give them away on one of the freebie sites. Of course, the ones you get rid of will definitely be the ones you need for a job later in the year.

Ann, if you get to print some cards you could leave them blank or just put a simple Happy Birthday inside. I’m sure you would get it to print in the right place with a bit of experimenting. I have an awful job buying cards. If the pictures are good, the words are sick making or the words are simple but the design of the card isn’t very nice! I will buy slushy words for a couple of friends that I know like them but I hate them. I’ve got 4 birthdays between 1st and 6th July. None of the cards I am sending have a verse as such. One is blank, two just say Happy Birthday, the other one does say “You grow more special with every birthday” but that one is for my daughter.

Weatherwise, it’s been a real nothing sort of day. It’s warm but there has been no sun, there’s been rain on and off and a stiffish breeze on and off. Some of our garden plants, particularly some tall but light weight plants, have been really battered and are lying across the paths. I think we had some really heavy rain last night that’s flattened them. Some of them already had plant supports but I might have to tie them to some taller stakes so I’ll look at that in the morning.

I hope Gill is well. I expect she has been busy with her house and garden. Sending a little wave to Island ~~~~~~~~

Have a good night everyone.

It's good you used that hospital then Mel if it might close with lack of patients going there. I hadn't thought before that since we can choose hospitals that it might affect some staying open. So you just have to wait now then for the results. What they usually do is send you a letter with a copy to your doctor. I am fancying a brekkie now I've heard about yours. I think I'm going to get some bacon out of the freezer for tomorrow!

I was thinking more of cards to print off some of my paintings onto them to see if any would sell. I agree with you about it being disappointing what words you see in some.........a nice card but innapropriate words or too gushing! I like the sticker idea!

It's started raining here now so no washing put out till tomorrow. I have sorted the 2 big drawers and have 2 bags for the charity shop now. Everything is put back neatly folded, but for how long once OH pulls things out. He is SO tidy everywhere else, but not with drawers. :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jun 2021 17:41

I wonder where that partridge in a pear tree came from? Can you remember putting it in there or did it just turn up? Ha ha ha..... :-D :-D

I have been dead heading the clematis again and the rose as the rain always spoils the roses. Done a wash and got that onthe line and its really hot here now so I may be lucky and get it dried.

Nurse told me the results would go to the doctor. She did ask me about being sent to Stratton and not Barnstaple so I told her that I had a chest xray at Stratton years ago. She said it was good I came there as it gives them more custom. Perhaps they were thinking of closing that hospital as they closed Bideford which was much nearer for us.

Mandy oh had the heavy gardeners breakfast and I just had the all day breakfast. Oh's was 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown and black pudding with either fried bread or toast. We both went for toast and both got toast and fried bread O and beans. mine was 1 sausage, 1 egg 2 bacon tom and mushrooms, beans, hash brown and I got brown toast but had oh's fried bread and a bit of his bacon. The toast was like a lump of leather as I had left it too long so only ate a little of it. He had a big americano black coffee which came with a little jug of hot water and I had a fresh orange juice. So no cooking for me tonight. I had to ask for a clean glass for my bottle of orange juice as when I picked it up I noticed lip mark on the top of it and it was a bit misty too.

So just a waiting game now to hear from the doc on both accounts.

Ann you can make nice cards out of watercolour paper and print out your pictures to a size and and stick them on. Not all cards have to have verse in them which is nice as you can write what you wnat then. I find some cards a bit much with the words they put in them and you can buy happy birthday stickers you tear off a backing and put where you want.

Annx

Annx Report 28 Jun 2021 17:05

Well the last of my classes is done now. Within half an hour of my class finishing I cleared my paints away, cleared the fridge of some old stuff, wiped the shelves, emptied the kitchen bin, put the washer on, moved my car back from the garage so OH can put the bins out when he gets back, watered the front wall pots, got changed, made some whip deserts that OH likes and washed up the jugs. If OH had been at home it would have taken twice as long with all the questions there would have been and with him getting in the way, yet the quicker I get done the better for my knees.

AnnG I will have a google to see what there is out there so to speak!

Good to hear from you Frank! Sorry you have jarred your back now, but a bit of reading will help take your mind off it. It's a shame about John being no better, he always sounded quite well before. Poor Carolyn must be both concerned and weary so a trip out with Ros will give her a nice break and I'm sure John will be glad of some different company.

I want to get all of the sheets out next to see which won't fit anymore and get rid of them. The ones that are new can become pillowcases. The drawers are crammed and will hardly shut so it will be a good job done.

That was a good trip Mel and lunch too. Will you get the results soon?

Ha ha Mandy, quite a few saws and drills then!!! You are certainly having a good sort out in there. What will you do with the tools he doesn't want? I ask because we have a load in the garage as you know!

I take it the xray was OK and now you have to wait for the results did they say how long it would be.

Good afternoon to you all. Have been reding my book in the conservatory, while the rain is banging against the glass roof. Just finished the book, as it STOPED RAINING. how strange was that.

Nothing to report other than John is not any better. Eos has been round see him, and says he looks really poorly. To give Carolyn a break, I have offered to go and sit with him tomorrow morning, so the girls can go shopping. I will take a book thread. I hope he won't expect me to run around after his needs.

I trust you are all well, I have jared my back, and it's very sore. So taking it very steady. See you soon. xxxx
