Lovely to see you Island and so sorry you have not been well and are missing Doggie so much. I have little green toms and some bigger than a glass pin head. We had the sec9ond courgette yesterday in spag bol and there's ano9ther one coming on the plant. Never had this much success with a courgette in a pot before. Having said that I suppose it will give up on me now. Sending love and a ((hug)) <3

anng your good at knitting can you find something nice to knit for Inara for Christmas. Some pretty fingerless gloves and a nice scarf are always welcome when its cold and being made by nanny would make them even more special. Or how about making some little gift boxes you're good with card so that would be nice to do. Have another go at painting and have a look on youtube at some techniques for beginers.

good to see you Island but sorry you have not been well. Yes loss of any kind during the pandemic seems to affect us much more than previously it would. Maybe being incarcerated has made us less resilient. I can quite see how it has affected the mental health of people. We could really do with a month of a 'proper' summer instead of all these rain storms and wind that the weather people tell us (usually with a smile) are so unseasonable.

I need a new hobby other than card making (I am not giving that up). Yesterday I did a couple of scrap book pages of the garden in 2020 and enjoyed doing it but that had a purpose. - To show the garden group how the garden did in 2020 when they could not visit.

So any suggestions? Nothing to intricate, something to keep my mind and hands occupied. And it has to be something that has a use, I need to have an aim.

Morning (nearly gone) all

After 'leaving' on the 13th June, I was surprised when I looked in two weeks later that my sub was still only 8.96 - it would have been rude not to LOL
Not been too good and missing doggie so much - what with the restrictions we hadn't realised what a focus he was until he was gone. He was always attentive when I was unwell - and when I had ice-cream.

Anng, that's the problem with shopping - there's always things we didn't know we needed. Enjoy your mag :-D

I think we've had everyone's share of rain with heavy downpours three days on the trot. Veg could do with some sunshine! I spotted a teeny weeny tomato the size of the glass head on a pin :-D

Hope you are all well.

Still dry here but threatening and I don't think the grass will dry out enough for me to cut it.
Just had my first adventure. Cynth, who gets bits for me is away so I have just driven (about half a mile ) to the Costcutter down the road to get my next weeks TV paper. shows how I have saved money by her getting stuff for me, instead of the usual £1.49 for paper and TV paper it cost me £5 because I saw a magazine Although I have driven the car a bit, it was an adventure to actually go into a shop. I was amazed actually this shop is the ex NAAFI shop so is right by the camp that is a joint sevice/nationality camp (NATO). The lad behind the counter was extremely polite calling me Maam. I realised then that I think he was American so probably a son of one of the service families. How nice though to be served by somebody so pleasant and polite (and masked).

Also just booked my car in for its MOT and service, although I can't believe it needs much of a service except I know it needs two new tires. They will collect and deliver which is good as it will probably be an all day job. That is for after I return from Lyn's

Morning All,

You had a good sleep then Anng as did I. We're were going to the farm shop early but woke up too late so will go tomorrow now.

Mel isn't it annoying when you can't find something that you know you have somewhere. I have some glass paints that I haven't used yet, but I'm not sure how well they keep. I look forward to seeing what you do with yours. I think I was going to decorate jamjars to put tea lights in with mine. You've reminded me I have a tie dye kit I got from Aldi too. I must see what plain t shirts I have and can use it on. Your Asda seems to do much better than ours for subs!!

I hope Vera is ok and has got over the migraine she had as she didn't post yesterday.

Not sure what I will do today yet. More rain is forecast. I planted up the little plug plants that arrived but I don't think they are the kind I wanted! They aren't as dwarf as the other one I have. I can still use them though and they will be good ground cover and are all different colours. Better sort lunch next, then decide what to do after that.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Jul 2021 21:59

Rained this afternoon. We had to put the old canopy over his mower as he had just painted some of it.

I tried to find my glass paints without success. I have a project I want to have a go at and wanted the paints for it but I think shalll have to buy some new ones.

Been watching Carol Klien at Woolerton. The gardens are great.

Annx Report 5 Jul 2021 13:07

Yes you usually can for quite a while AnnG. I was still using windows 8.1 last Christmas!

Now there is the Peruvian Lambda variant, more infectious than all the others. With our slack rules it will be here in no time. Hopefully the vaccines will still be good.

Mel your OH is probably right to want to get the latest version as they improve security. Not easy when they change everything you are used to though.

Well my plants are here. They look like small plugs, but I will wipe the box down and unpack them after OH's training finishes so I don't disturb him. I think they will need potting up and growing on before planting out as the plastic tray I can see on the edge is smaller than I expected. They are more of the tiny alpine Phlox I sent a pic of but are several different colours.

I was just trying g to think what the worst thing about lockdown is for us and quickly decided it was the barking dog next door. Every time someone stops a car outside or comes to our front door there is shrill barking till 5 minutes after they have gone. If we go in the garden and he's out there he barks at every slight sound we make or at anything else he hears. When we eat at the table on the patio we have to whisper and if he hears a knife or fork on a plate off he goes. She has a path to the front alongside our fence with a gate at the front end which is near our bedroom, so we get an early wake up call when she lets him out. When there is nothing to bark at he barks to be let in, which can be a couple of hours if she's gone out and left him which she told me once she doesn't do, yet he's here and her car isn't! You wouldn't think he would want to bark now he's getting old as you can hear him wheezing as he trots down the path.

So that's how you got the Schizanthus Mandy! We did talk about them before didn't we as I was going to get some then forgot! The ones FIL used to grow were about 18 inches tall and were covered in flowers about an inch across.

I have a lilac coloured poppy growing behind the courgettes that the birds must have brought in.

I wish Gill would let us know how her bungalow alterations are coming on. It's an exciting but busy time for her but the large garden will be needing attention too with keeping weeds down.

I don't think windows 11 has been released yet. I didn't get W10 until two years after it was brought out Ann so I expect you will be able to continue with it.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Jul 2021 12:03

Yes its a right pain but oh always has to have the latest one.

Just picked 5 oz of strawberries and another courgette yesterday. Washing is on the line and I am about to tie up the sweet peas. Really cross with them this year as I only seem to have light mauve and white so far.

I have still not got my cucumber seeds and its much too late to plant them now. Shall have to contact the garden centre again. :-| :-| :-|

Its turned all cloudy and grey here now and looks like it may rain. Oh is out grnding away on the zero mowers paintwork. He bought some paint (black) for the wheels but they look awful so he is getting white for them. He has taken off most of the things that he can off of it and is now doing the frame.

I expect I shall get a lot of subs on my Asda order then if you've had a lot Ann.

Annx

Annx Report 5 Jul 2021 10:32

Oh no Mel!! I've only had windows 10 for a few months since I got this new laptop!!

Annx

Annx Report 5 Jul 2021 10:30

Morning All,

Sorry you had a migraine and poor night yesterday Vera. Laying down can make them as does bending down. I think that muggy weather is likely the cause as OH had one yesterday too and had one a few days ago as well. His don't seem so bad now and unlike you, he can take migraine tablets and lay down for an hour and is usually ok, except for that horrid drained feeling afterwards. I don't seem to get them at all now since the menopause so I think hormones played a part in mine.

I slept much better last night and feel better for it. We had quite a bit of rain last night, a few spits this morning, but it is sunny now and dry again. OH has an online training session to do with his independent person work just now. He is getting a bit fed up with them now as he has seen these sessions which never change for over 5 years now and feels it is a waste of time for him.

My Asda order had 11 subs this time, which were mostly ok, but reading this morning that there are likely to be shortages in coming weeks, it may be to be expected. Having sorted the wii yesterday and even played some tennis to make sure it worked ok, guess what, this morning it said there was no signal on the channel. The tv and sky channels are fine, otherwise I would blame the storms we had. Now how could that happen overnight all on it's own? When OH has finished we'll have another look, otherwise it may mean contacting the engineer who came. I can see he is going to become a 'best friend'.

I had a strange package from ebay that I opened yesterday. I hadn't ordered it and it contained 7 small tubes of lip gel!! I opened one and it had the most awful smell of cheap boiled sweets and cheap scent. Not something you would want to wear just under your nose!! It's hardly worth sending back so I will chuck it out after a few weeks if no-one asks for it back!

I'm doing paperwork just now and will hear anyone come up the drive if the plants arrive. First task is to check the Asda order to see if it is Asda or ME that has forgotten one of OH's loaves of bread.

Morning Anng and all,

We have sunshine and big clouds of white and grey in the blue sky.

Shall probably do some gardening if it stay dry but will see how I muddle along. There's washing to go on the line of all oh's work gear so I better so that first.

I have been told we are going onto windows 11 soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hav'nt got my head around windows 10 yet.

AnninGlos Report 5 Jul 2021 08:31

good morning all, Nobody around yet then? I seemed to have a very disturbed night, kept waking and finally got up at 0715.
Sun is shining and apparently no overnight rain but it doesn't look very settled out there. Not doing anything much today.

Iv'e dead head my Albetine rose this afternoon and got so hot I had to take my coat off also more of the dead Clematis flowers and the violas in pots ont he patio and the Osteospermum. Suns been out most of the afternoon after the heavy rain this morning.

Shame the rain is'nt good for the flowers ont he roses. They're all hanging their heads.
Did'nt get up the border and feel quite tired now.

Repotted a heachera too.

AnninGlos Report 4 Jul 2021 16:22

sorry you had a migraine Vera, maybe it was the weather if it was like ours, quite humid and 'close'. today we have had heavy showers interspersed with brilliant sun in short spells. But the sun has been shining a while now and when out it is very hot although the temp is only 17 degrees. I have managed to get down to the greenhouse wo water the plants in there but it is much too wet underfoot and in all the plants to dead head so the roses will have to wait until tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Jul 2021 15:59

Sorry to hear you had another migraine Vera and hope you get a few zzzzz's in tonight to make you feel better tomorrow.

Guess what the suns come out so I am off up the border to dosome badly needed dead heading.

I managed to iron three things this morning and found that the iron had packed up so I got the spare out but it is so heavy and small and makes a noise when run over the clothes so I stopped. Oh has had a look for parts for the iron but can't find any parts with our ones serial number. So it looks like I may need a new iron. I don't want one of these steam thingys with the great big base because I don't use a steam iron. my old one is'nt very pointy and dos'nt have the slot to go around buttons.
