Hi all, been very busy again and have the grant people here tomorrow to do the EPC, it's got to be better than the "G" we had, but with having a single glazed back door we don't think it'll be an "A" but a "B" would be nice. We have a slight leak which we think is causing the boiler to lose it's pressure, so someone is coming here tomorrow to take a look at that too.

The bathroom still hasn't been done, the builder never did a quote in the end so we think he doesn't want the job. So it looks like I'm back to square one with that job. We're hoping to have our loft boarded now the insulation has gone in but we're waiting to hear back from the insulation fella as to when that job will be done. Everyone seems to be very busy, at this rate we'll be having the jobs done in the winter. At least most of the back garden has been cleared so not much left to do which should be done within the next month or two. As for the front garden......well, lets say the wildlife love it LOL ;-) ;-) ;-)

Did anyone watch the England match last night? I was on the edge of my seat. Poor OH had to work but said he managed to watch the match as he went from room to room. I recorded it just incase he missed it. He's working on Sunday to, so he doesn't know if he'll see the final or not, so I'll be recording that as well. So it looks like I'll be watching it on my own. I hope England win, the last time they won was the year I was born, so we're due another win.

I've had problems with my laptop crashing so I'd better send this incase it happens again. I hope you are all keeping well. Love all the emails, your painting was brilliant Ann and your's made me laugh Island with the cartoon of the rain.

Oh I didn't send my last post for ages so missed yours Mel. That's great news on the gynae front! :-D It's always a worry waiting for results. So now it's just your hip x-ray news you are waiting for.

Sounds like you enjoyed your visitors AnnG. Nice to exchange chat on your gardens too.

Afternoon All,

It's bright and sunny here now after a dull start and washing's drying outside and another load in the washer.

I wish we could cheer you up somehow Frank and make you titter! :-) You sound so fed up and I think Ros is right that you should perhaps talk to your doctor. There's nothing to lose. Keep in touch though, even if you feel you don't have much to say. We don't mind and all have odd days like it ourselves. xxx <3 <3

Your strawbs and courgette look very nice Mel and that's a pretty Iris. :-D That is a large bracket fungus isn't it. The ones I have been smaller and more brown. I had to smile at your OH's egg art! At least you managed to sort the hoover and carry on, but they always konk when you want to get done and on with something else don't they!

Vera you are right we could have an 'Olde Gifte Shoppe' between us, even online! :-D :-D I think you have done a lot today so listen to your back. I keep any envelopes as I have done the same as you more than once!

Mandy that's a good idea to do some more bracelets for the school to sell. You will find them quicker to do now you've done one. Oh Yuk! Cat mess! I thought I got a whiff this morning where the courgettes are planted, but I couldn't see it!

Island there is only one runner up that wigwam so I'm spiralling it round........maybe get more beans? At least I'll be able to reach to pick them!

It's a nice day for having your friends round and they will enjoy the garden and your nice flowers. A nicely mown lawn sets everything off. :-)

I am having another lazy day. The mornings seem to be gone with getting lunch and now motivation has gone. We did another very short weeding stint this morning and put canes up to the cues and watered the greenhouse. OH is doing more work to catch up and I think I will start my bank account switch next. I saw they had taken their first monthly £15 fee so I don't want them taking anymore!!

Great news Mel, you can relax now as no doubt your mind was thinking all sorts.

The garden group (8 of us) went very well, we were split into two groups as the garden has not got space for all of us together when spaced out so we were four and three and me walking around most of the time between groups. It was mostly general chat with a bit of garden info thrown in and my garden photo scrap book which goes back to 1992, plus one of the other ladies who had photos of her garden that has just been finished from being covered in brambles when she moved in. there were here about just under 2 hours, it was sunny most of the time and very hot.

Just checked the greenhouse, looks like the one cucumber I have might be the only one. Not sure but can't see any more developing.

Ah I see Mel :-D I didn't realise it was milk. I though it was half cooked egg that your fella was about to eat LOL. I like your wavelength though, I do similar things with paint just to see what appears. Another few pics to share later.

Pleased by your good result :-D

Sorry about the egg photo Island. When I put the milk in them it made such lovely patterns but I moved the bowl a bit to take the photo and it changed it. The top bit of milk looked just like a wave about to crash on the beach with a frilly top.

Island Report 8 Jul 2021 14:43

Frank, Ros is right. Have a chat with your gp. You could be depressed, which is hardly surprising given the depressing times we are going through.
I don't mind saying I'm struggling myself - the dull wet weather doesn't help.

Thanks for the pics Mel. I've seen dull orangs bracket fungus before, it's deceptively hard although it looks soft. I don't think it's good news for the trees it appears on - have a read on the gardeners world or RHS website.
Your pink iris is lovely.
Not sure about the eggs :-0 I'm funny about them and the sight of any raw white puts me off for weeks.
I'll share a pic of my fungi later.

I don't know what the weather's doing, except it isn't raining but I don't trust it. I'll be a hermit instead.

Hi all, I must say ho sorry I am for not reading your postings, and making any comments. I'm just not with it at the moment. Ros said I should go and see the Doctor, as I have no interest in anything recently. All I do is read and watch T.V..

I hope you are all well, xxxx

Thats a blimmin good idea Vera. How about yuo set up a site for us and put our things we want to sell on there and see if anyone buys things for us to post we can send them. It would be like Not On The High Street.

I have hoovered up so spiders but then the hoover konked out so I spent an hour taking that apart and something had made three holes in the drive belt and it had come off too. I had a spare so cleaned it all out and eventually got the thing back together. It works great now. Hoovered the kitchen and diner and part of the hall and the little loo. Did one lot of washing which is on the line and its brightened up a lot now and its hot.

Just been down the shed and potted up 11 of my dianthus plugs I pricked out. Luckily I found 11 3" pots. I shall have to go up the potting sheds and find some more as I still have 15 to do and another tray of 12!!!!

Glad you liked the photos. Arn't those fungi amazing. They are huge. I think they may be a fairy high rise!!!!! Ha ha ha.:-D :-D :-D

Better get lunch now as he wil lbe in soon.

Strawberries look good Mel and that fungi is odd looking stuff it looks quite spongy underneath I've never seen any before .

We could do that Vera and this time next year we could be millionaires lol :-D

Well its stayed dry so I went and cut the grass all was fine until i found I had stepped in some cats muck and didn't it stink I had to wash my shoes I never noticed it as the grass had got a bit long .

Enjoy your afternoon with your friends Anng hope it stays sunny and dry for you.

good morning, wow, I forgot to come on before and I was up early as well, started reading the mail on line then had breakfast then did an hour in the garden cutting the lawn edge with the long handles shears and dead heading a few more of the rambler roses. sunny with light cloud I am hoping it stays that way until mid afternoon as I have the group coming to sit in the garden at 2pm. I have put out the chairs that I have and a couple are bringing their own. I see there are a few raspberries to pick but they look good on the canes so I will leave them for now.

Thanks for the pics Mel, great fungi photos, I have never seen those before, fascinating. And the strawberries look good.
Vera how frustrating about the card, For special birthdays and anniversaries I am always thankful that cardmaking is my hobby.
Oh yes we could make a bit of money if we all lived near to each other with you in charge Vera.

SuffolkVera Report 8 Jul 2021 11:07

Thanks for the pics Mel. I’ll have to google bracket fungus. I know the name and what it looks like but nothing else about it, like if it’s harmful to plants. The iris is pretty and those strawberries look yummy. OH should put his egg design in for the Turner Prize. He’d probably win :-)

I am feeling very virtuous as I have already spent an hour and a half in the garden. My back is still iffy so I didn’t want to bend and stretch more than necessary but I weeded a big area with the hoe and then planted out my begonias that I bought. I got 2 packs of 9 but some of the little compartments had 2 plants in, so I ended up with 24. I did a bit of general tidying as well and then decided that was enough for one day as my back was aching.

Mandy, I am sure those bracelets would sell well at the school, particularly if you make some child sized. Little girls love bits of jewellery. I was thinking that it’s a pity we don’t all live nearer. We could rent one of those small start up units and sell the art and crafts you all make. I’m no good at producing stuff to sell but I’ll volunteer to do the admin and publicity and keep accounts and serve in the shop. I reckon we could make our fortune :-D

I expect Gill is up to her eyes in work with the house and garden but it would be good to know she is OK.

Time for a drink now, then I’ll answer some emails and, if my back feels OK, will go for a walk.

Morning all

Nice and bright here the sun is trying to peep through,I have a load of towels out and the bath mats are now spinning so they will soon be ready to go out .
Hope to do a bit in the garden later the grass needs cutting and yesterday I bought a Clematis in Aldi so I need to find a pot for that .

Oh Vera that was a nuisance no envelope if that happens to me I usually hunt through my Christmas card box .

We took Max for his booster injection and they weighed him again and he's lost a little so that was good ,its not the new food we got as he won't eat that so it must be from not having as many treats .

I have made a few more bracelets in different colours ,going to try making a different style today ,I hope when the school has its next sale they can sell them and it helps the funds ,they made nearly five hundred pounds last Saturday with that sale but had loads of things over so I expect they will do another.

Right the washer has finished so better hang them out like Vera we should have showers later on.

Good morning

It’s another overcast day but fairly warm and it’s not supposed to rain until later this afternoon so I’m going to try and go for a walk and do a little bit of gardening this morning. I haven’t got any other plans.

I was a bit frustrated yesterday. Local acquaintances are celebrating their 60th anniversary today and I wanted to pop a card through their door. I went to the most likely shop and found they only had one card and it had a really “sloppy” verse so I decided to go into Sainsbury’s which I would pass on the way home. They didn’t have a single diamond anniversary card. I ended up buying the nicest of the ordinary anniversary cards and writing something appropriate inside. This card was all done up in cellophane and when I opened it the envelope was missing so I had to go through all our drawers to find one the right sort of size. Grrr!

I noticed lots of empty spaces on Sainsbury’s shelves. I hope we’re not going to start having shortages. It’s lucky you are going to have nice fresh veg to pick Island. It looks like you might need it.

Well, I’d better get dressed and start the day I suppose. OH is already out for his walk.

Morning all,

Dull and dreary this morning and its rained inthe night. Not as windy as yesterday but that could soon change.

Nothing planed for today but I have some little plants to pot on so may do that and some dreaded house work. It needs it as going out and doing gardening the house get left. Can't do everything anymore.

Hope you all slept well or as good as can be expected.

Kept raining on and off most of today so I disappeared into the lounge corner where my tables are and played with my polyclay. Then later inthe afternoon the sun came out and it was lovely but I did'nt want to go inthe garden as I was into a project. Not finished it yet but had to go and get the fish and chips so I covered it up and will go back to it tomorrow if its wet.

I will do the pics of the fungus and send them and my pink Rose Queen irispoking out of the netting on my pond.
