Wow Mel? What happened?
Nice to see you posting Frank, I think the heat is making a lot of us feel grotty. Drink plenty of water, stay in the shade and enjoy cooling showers is my motto.

Hi to all my friends, Sorry I haven't been around, but not feeling great, and this weathers killing me. I spend my days trying to stay cool with TWO FANS going full blast.
For some known reason the SHOWER would not come on this morning. I called Jonathan and he came round. He turned on the basin tap as I turned on the shower, and the blooming thing came on.
I will now get showered and dressed. Then we will go to the hairdressers for me to get a haircut. Just along from the hairdressers is a nice pub that I will treat Ros to Lunch we will only need a snack tonight, so no cooking.
I have tried looking for flights to Murcia, SPAIN. for September, but nothing is showing. I must be a bit early, so will try again next month
I hope you are all coping with this weather. Please rake care, and I will try to pop in again tomorrow. xxxx

Its always the same nowadays with all these automated answers and press this that and the other it drives me mad. We don't mind being hermits as we live in our own little world behind our big tall wall in the walled garden. The only people we see are the postman, Tim, a lovely lad and any delivery drivers that come down withAmazon things and the Asda delivery man who is never the same one twice it seems.

Morning Mel
How annoying to have so many subs and often.
I presume your surgery isn't registered with the POD? Now that I've discovered you can book a call back on line I'm a happy bunny :-D I'd register with Echo to have the meds delivered but I don't want to be a hermit.
Vera mentioned the hassle she had with banking the other day - I had the same yesterday, I won't go on but...... If only t'other end had listened in the first place. All sorted (fingers crossed) but what an unnecessary palaver!

Morning Anng, Island and all,
I slept like a log again last night and only got up about 6 for the loo then back to bed, well on top of the bed then oh got up and I lay there a while stretched out. I actually got throught o the doctors this morning and I was flabbergasted I got through to Presciptions. I spoke to Steph who used to be at our old surgery in Shebbear and she said she would meet me at the crossroads about 4.40pm with our pills. She also said mine were only ordered yesterday, I had done it on Sunday AGAIN, so that was right as I did'nt put my password in when I did it with oh's. I'm still not used to doing it online with all these silly things you have to put in for a password.
Then after all that I forgot to ask if I could get any results of my blood tests or my exray!! As I said I was so surprised someone actuaally answered the phone and not a recorded voice saying "sorry your call cannot be tranfered" which is what I normally get.
Moan ovver its going to be another very hot day so I hope you can all stay cool somewhere be it inside or out. I have the big wipe down this mornng and 5 subs and one unavailable which is celery. The others are my little pears and they have sent conference pairs which I don't like, a savoy cabbage instead of spring greens, chickens will get that. A prawn cocktail instead of king prawns oh's favorite which won't please him. Sour cream dip low fat and sent full fat, I can put up with that asnd goodness knows what white bread they have sent me as it says ISB white bread instead of a bake me crusty 400g white loaf. Well we shall see when it arrives.

Morning Ann and all
I'm just enjoying some cool before the sun gets going. I'm finding the heat just too much and feeling ill with it. Early morning and sitting outside in the evening after a cooling shower is bliss - it's a relief to feel human again! Thundery showers forecast for this evening.
Don't overcook yourselves :-D

Good morning fro sunny Cumbria. Annx hope you are up ready for the window man, hope the early start didn’t mean you didn’t sleep last night. It was a hot night but I slept quite well, probably due to two glasses of Prosecco and one of Rose.
Had a really nice evening with step granddaughter, and even met her mum who was her taxi home afterwards so she didn’t have to drive. So that is so. In laws ex wife. Entertainment was by Amber her. Ockapoo.,,
Going out to lunch today, a Place I have been before last August it will be busy but well spaced out.

A Phew Evening Everyone!
Boy it is hot and muggy!
Glad you could see why I liked the vase! I went through an 'oriental phase' years ago and the painted bird cabinet and the vase are all I kept as I liked them so much. They don't go with the modern light oak I have so they are on a wall to themselves away from everything else.
My haircut tomorrow has been cancelled as my hairdresser scratched her eye on a Honeysuckle and had to go to Eye Casualty last night. She said their restrictions are staying which is reassuring, door locked so no-one can wander in, masks and sanitiser etc. Vera I think my hairdresser would lose more custom if he allowed people without masks! We are carrying on the same for now, wearing masks, not going anywhere very much and not when it's busy. If we don't, we are making the more vulnerable scared to go out at all and their mental health matters too, as they have enough hardship having to deal with other health problems and the extra restrictions and lockdown they have had. Time will tell but I think the Flu and Norovirus may be exaggerated to help justify taking the brakes off things now rather than later. After all, there hasn't been the spread of those to cause mutation and for new strains to emerge that we have no immunity from. Many get flu jabs now and they can be bought as well and Norovirus should be less with all the hygiene we are used to. It's been good that little ones at school have been taught about handwashing/sanitising. It's our responsibility to think of others and I've not heard anyone say there is less risk of long covid yet.
Businesses need to get back on their feet safely which it seems many are doing, but are these covid spreading big events really necessary? Too much drinking, then brawls and stabbings, attacks on paramedics and the police and using up stretched NHS resources??
The window man is calling to fit the new bathroom window at 7.30am in the morning before it gets too hot!!! No problem except I have had to clean the bathroom which left me hot and dripping! :-S
I hope this chap will do a bathroom quote for you Gill and be able to get on with the work soon. It sounds like you have made great progress outside and even if your OH has to just move the rubbish a bit at a time, at least it will be less tiring and easier on his back and will still get it done! It sounds like Sandra is getting her flat together with furniture from you but also learning the responsibility of having your own home! It's good experience for her though as she will know what to do another time.

Good to see you Gill. I hope you manage to get a builder sorted out soon so you can get the bungalow as you want it.
Enjoy your BBQ AnnG. I think I feel much the same as you regarding the lifting of restrictions. I will be cautious, use a mask in places like shops, keep using sanitizer and try to avoid spending time with people who aren’t being careful but we can’t live in fear all the time.
Mel, my OH would agree with yours. When we were first hearing about Corona virus even before the very first lockdown my OH said that it would quickly go round the world and it would probably be 3 years before we had it under anything like control.
I did go for an early walk this morning and came back with a blister even though I didn’t walk very far. I changed all the bedding and did 3 loads of washing. At least it dries quickly at the moment. Now there is a great pile of ironing :-(. This afternoon I’ve just blobbed about and not done anything very much.
Have a nice evening, a good night’s sleep and stay cool.

Happy birthday to your step granddaughter AnnG enjoy the BBQ you certainly have the weather for it. It'll be nice for her to see her sister, glad to see she's now tested negative for Covid.
I haven't been out for over a year apart to Sandra's a few times over the past week. I'd love to go out but I'm still a bit nervous so I think I'll wait a bit longer unless we can find somewhere that isn't to crowded. OH would need some time off work first though.
The Error page is such a nuisance isn't it Mel. All seems back to normal now so lets hope it stays that way.
You've been busy in your garden Island.Love the pic of your French beans they look delicious, hope you have lots more. I normally grow tomatoes but our greenhouse isn't up yet and the garden's nowhere near ready for any planting yet. I think Lockdown ends today, or at least most of it. I did notice the F1 was full of people watching the race and I didn't see anyone wearing masks, it's all a bit of a worry as the virus hasn't gone anywhere and new cases are rising again. I hope Borris knows what he's doing and we don't end up in another lockdown.
Thanks Ann for sending the picture of AnnG and her daughter, what a lovely picture. Love the picture of the Japanese vase, how lucky were you finding another one the same, it was obviously meant to be. Keep it away from your OH now LOL.
I've just rang another builder about our bathroom and sent him our address, so hopefully he'll get back to us to arrange a time to do the quote. It's the one who can only work on a weekend, but everyone else is very busy and we really need the job done.

Mel, more peas as I think I could have planted them closer together and more climbing French beans for a later crop - they are yummy. I might give runners a miss next year and grow French beans in succession.
I didn't know we were still in lockdown? Boris has put shop keepers in a very difficult and unfair position, nasty man is just playing the people. Not only will the virus spread rapidly but people are going to tear into those who disagree with them which I suspect is what he wants.

Good morning all. And good to see you Gill. Shame oh can’t have his holiday it would be good to get the garden cleared.
I have just been with daughter to Asda as I wanted to get a couple of things, mainly T shirts for the great grandsons who are coming to see me on 18 August for the day. It was not crowded, all but one customer were wearing masks several members of staff were not and didn’t have lanyards on. First time in a big supermarket since a year ago. I felt quite comfortable there.
I think Mel, if we had stayed on lockdown we would (besides having even more people with mental health problems) find that when we eventually came out of lockdown people would have little or no immunity to avoid catching things like flu, norovirus (which has started to spread again earlier than usual) and also still Covid. If you are worried just go on doing what you have been doing. We have been double jabbed so hopefully, even if we catch Covid, it seems highly possible it will be like flu from what I have been told by people who have had it.
I think I will try to resume life as best I can, being very cautious and wearing my mask where it is likely to be crowded to protect others, I noticed sanitizer was still available in Asda but not in the small shop I went in for the post office. And I also noticed with queues people were still maintaining a distance. I think we have formed a habit of doing these things and people will continue to do so until infections go down. There is no saying I won’t catch it but I am trying not to let fear ruin what life I have left, otherwise what is the point?
It is my step granddaughter’s birthday and we are having a barbecue this evening for her, her sister, who lives in Liverpool is on her way here to come to the barbecue, we didn’t know if she would make it as she had Covid, her quarantine was up on Saturday and she is now testing negative and clear of infection. However we will be in the garden when she is here and seated apart from us, just in case. She is very aware as she is a nurse.
It is annoying that infections have gone up so much but that was inevitable with the football and Wembley, and the tennis and Wimbledon and also the horse racing. None of that was sensible unless they really did want to get herd immunity.
Vera, did you get your walk in before it got too hot. It is quite pleasant here today sunny with light clouds so not quite as hot.

I too have had trouble with the Error page this morning so your not alone Gill.
Have we heard from Mandy lately???? Hope she and the family are ok and sending love and wishes.
I shall be wearing my mask for a long time yet. Oh predicted it would take more than a year or two to get rid of this corvid and even said three at one point.
I don't think customers are worth keeping if they won't wear masks either however much you need their custom. There's plenty more willing to wear one if it means getting their hair cut or washed and styled. I don't have to worry about hairdressers anyway but I have been thinking I shoudl cut a good lot off of mine as I can't reach the ends even with a tail comb and it breaks off so much when I plait it at night it very thin on the end of the plait.
Oh put the bumper bar back on the big mower this morning and I popped the bolts through the holes while he held the bar up. Its getting there. Looks more like a mower now than a skelliton.
I wonder where Anng is going today? Bet its somewhere nice and out of the sun.
Island what are you sowing at the mo?

Hi all
I keep getting the error page and can't get to the end of the thread so I hope everyone is okay. I've tried to read my PM's but again I keep getting the error page, so it looks like I'll have to try again later.
We're still busy in the garden but it was a bit to hot for me over the weekend so I've had a couple of days in doors. It was OH's birthday on Saturday but he couldn't get the day off work so was working that night. Luckily he was here during the day so I made him a birthday cake and cooked a roast lamb while he relaxed. He said it was nice to sit down for a change lol.
He was meant to be off for the next week on holiday but they couldn't get cover for him, so he's now got to work. He's not sure when he'll have his holiday now. It's a bit of a nuisance as he wanted to get rid of all the rubbish in the garden, there's so much so it would of taken him the week to take it all down the tip. He said he'll do a bit each afternoon when he gets up and before he goes back to work on nights. I hope it cools down soon, it's so hot at the moment and I need to move a pile of boxes from the living room to the spare bedroom in the hope we can find a builder to do the last of the jobs in doors.
The fella who gave us a quote to board the loft never got back to us, I tried ringing him but it went to voicemail, so I left a message which he never replied to so it looks like we'll need to find someone else. The same thing happened with the bathroom, the builder asked if we still wanted a quote but then never got back to us when we said yes. I wish we could get the last few jobs done then we can finally unpack. We're been here five months and are still living in one room. We wanted to decorate and buy carpets before the winter arrives, but at the moment that's not possible. OH did managed to get a number for another builder but he only works weekends as he has a job during the week, so it means he won't be able to take the bathroom wall down and replace it further out in the same day leaving us without a bathroom wall and door for a week which isn't ideal.
I'd like to make a start on the front garden but the weather is to hot at the moment so that'll have to wait until it cools down a bit as it's South facing. OH cut the hedge in the front the other day as he nearly broke the wing mirror on the car reversing down the drive. Our drive is very narrow so he wants it extended, but for now the hedge has been cut back enough for him to get down it without damaging the car.
Well, I'd better post this before Genes plays up again. Keep save everyone on the first day of freedom. I'm still not convinced it's safe to go out around crowds so will be only going to Sandra's for now. We went there the other day to help her unpack and tidy up. We gave her a wardrobe and OH fixed a few things for her. Her boiler has given up the ghost so she's in the middle of trying to get a grant for a new one as she's got no hot water at the moment. Luckily she doesn't need the heating on. Hopefully it won't be to long before she has a new boiler and have hot water again.

PS Vera, I'd rather lose selfish customers than my health - or worse. I think there's going to be a lot of selfish bolshi behaviour.
Morning Mel, I missed you there. We'll still be masked in shops etc, not that we're going in many these days. I think Boris has just lit the blue touch paper before he goes on holiday, very irresponsible - what a shame he has to isolate LOL

Morning Vera and all
Up at silly-o-clock and working in the garden by 6. I had to beat the bright sun and cabbage butterflies to it. So, more plantings and sowings in the brassica cage before the white winged beasties were awake :-D I finally split the overcrowded pointy peppers too but they are back on the front window sill. So a mornings work done by 7.30. It was lovely and cool to sit out with a cuppa after. Set to be another hot one so I'll be sewing with an 'e'
Stay cool and slap on the suncream :-D
