We had a few gleams of sun this afternoon but mostly it was cloudy. It did warm up a bit. OH got the hose out late afternoon as everywhere had dried out again.
You got a few bits and pieces at Gloucester Quays then AnnG. You are well ahead with Christmas this year.
They sound like big developments round your villages Ann. There have been more and more estates built round our town too but there is no extra infrastructure so the town centre is getting clogged with all the extra traffic, the doctors are struggling to cope with the extra population and they will soon run out of school places. You have been busy in your garden.
So have you Mel. I hope you are being careful. You don’t want to set your sciatica off again.
I’ve had quite a busy day. We got to the hospital at 8.55 and OH went in for his scan while I waited in the car with my book. He was back at the car by 9.30 all done. Now he has to go through a more unpleasant test tomorrow and then I expect we’ll have to wait for the doctor to phone or write. This is a bladder problem and isn’t causing him any pain or serious problems at the moment but must be checked out. The pain he’s in is a different thing altogether. He manages it OK during the day but it is worse at night so he gets little rest.
We were back from the hospital in time for me to grab some cereal and dash off to the hairdresser. After lunch I made a big red cabbage casserole - red cabbage, onion, apple, spices, garlic, red wine vinegar and brown sugar. Cooked it in a low oven for about 3 hours and have now divided it into 6 2-portion bags for the freezer. Then I sorted out my order for delivery on Friday and prepared and cooked our dinner tonight. I don’t know what I’ve been doing for the last hour and a half but I’ve only just sat down with a cuppa and I feel shattered. I think I’ll be going to bed shortly though I’ll probably watch something on iPlayer or read for a while.

Even if the sun didn't come out for you AnnG you had a good shop! I like Sketchers...so comfy!
We've had a lot of sunshine this afternoon and I went outside and weeded the top island bed, then pruned quite a bit of the bottlebrush and viburnum and put 2 big humpersful in the garden bin. OH came out and cleared away the cucumber plants and the sweet peas and the petunias from the 2 pots near the corner arbour, so at least we got some things done. I picked more toms, so I might freeze a traybake with those, some courgette and onions.
You have been busy as well Mel and it's nice to relax afterwards watching your fish, especially now you can see them. They are growing well aren't they. F&C sound nice and no work to get them either!

Sorry Anng but we have had a beautiful day with sunshine all day and its been quite hot. There's still not a cloud in the sky here.
We got the rest of the rose down and off the two rhodo and oh cleared it all away. There's still some to sort out and cut off but it won't be so bad a job with all the other growth out of the way. There's also a few brimbles to dig out but they are right by the rhodo's.
Its fish and chips night tonight so no cooking for me. Hip hip hooray............... :-D :-D
Just had a G & T by the pond and fed the fish. The water is clearing nicely since I bought the filter a new uv light. The fish come up to be fed when we go over there now and we can SEE them. The little ones have really grown and are now about 2 and a half inches long or more.
Its good you found some more presents and have them all wrapped up so they can go back with your daughter Anng.

Well we have not had a glimpse of the sun today after the lovely day we had yesterday. Still we had a good shop, got trainers in Sketchers, Christmas wrapping paper in m&S and several bits and pieces for the Christmas bags for Hampshire plus a hooded cardigan for the expected new baby.
Came home, had lunch then wrapped all the presents.

That's good Mel! I put them in the plastic for the journey in case they got wet, but they will store better in paper now you have them. Is the rose you are chopping diseased or just too big?
I just looked up the plans for the development and it stops just short of the new bungalows and access will be from the main road not the lane. It will double the size of the village though and the next village to it is to have 2000 houses built as well increasing that village by a third. All building will have focus on cycling and walking and not cars. I wonder how all the overweight youngsters will cope when they become less mobile at even earlier ages though?
At last I lost the signal on my mobile today and have swapped the SIM. I can't use the internet on it even if I wanted to as the settings they tell me to enter info on don't all exist on my very old phone. :-S
OH is off to another match tonight. There were only 20ish spectators at last night's match so this one should be the same. Then tomorrow he has a meeting at one of his schools. The children have gone back to school here, but cases in the county in children are 25% higher than the average elsewhere, so it isn't ideal and I hope there will be plenty of ventilation. :-S

Afternoon All.
It's weak sun here after fine drizzle earlier. We had a trip to the factory shop for opening time to give my car a run. I got some new teatowels as we keep running low but nothing else. I managed to walk past the chocolate bars! lol. We then came a different way back past the farm shop. Local news said travellers have moved in on their car park the other day and were threatening and demanding money to leave! The Police had moved them on though and everything was back to normal today. Then we went through another village where they are building a close of new bungalows at the edge. It down more of a lane really and very peaceful with fields behind and opposite. OH was quite taken with them but thinks they plan to build 2,500 houses on adjoining land so it wouldn't be so good then.
Good news on the car front then Vera and I hope today's hospital visit goes well and that your OH is seen with too much waiting around.
Gloucester Quays sounds good AnnG, bargain shopping and the old docks too. Hope you all find some nice things to buy!
Glad you feel better today Mel. Good idea to be careful though, you don't want any setbacks.
I wonder how Mandy is doing with the scarecrow?

Yes it was a lovely walk Ann and brought back memories but not really sad ones. T was much on my mind but I did really enjoy the walk. And it was good to get some bits for the boys' stockings. Just got to wrap them all now and that will be one family out of the way.

Evening All,
Another rather dull day with a bit of breeze here. Still it drid 2 lots of washing so that was good.
I'm sure your OH's referral is precautionary Vera, I think they refer anything that even just might need urgent treatment quickly nowadays to cover themselves. It will be good to get to the root of what's wrong.
My mobile switchover to a new provider was supposed to happen today, but nothing ever goes as it should for me! It is the provider that is switching not me and OH's went like clockwork last week. It looks like I will have to phone them and already it says their lines are busy. If it doesn't happen my phone will go off in a fortnight!! :-S
Mel it looks like your Asda is getting as bad as ours for subs. It's funny how they never seem to run out of their own brands though!
That was a nice walk you had today AnnG. Sounds like you got some of your christmas presents sorted too.
I have ordered some new innards for my and OH's Filofaxes. With free postage it's just as cheap to get these things online. I have also ordered some things to go with what I have so I can make some simple pearl and some moonstone earrings as I don't seem to have many earrings to wear.
Oh goodness, Don Everley and now Charlie Watts!! What a shame we are losing the band members of our youth.

At least he is getting attention and it seems he may be getting cancelled appointments. I hope it means they can tell you what is wrong but I realise that it must be concern for both of you.
Gosh a lot of subs Mel but mostly acceptable.
We had a nice stroll by the canal and the weather was lovely. Lots of boats and we actually saw both the Willow Trust boats go down the canal on one of their trips for the disabled. (the charity that T's tribute supported.
We then drove back to Dobbies and I picked up some stocking filler presents for the little boys as we realised if daughter can take them back they can take them to Hampshire when they go In December. Otherwise there is not an easy way to get them down there. So now I have a load of presents to wrap before Saturday.

That’s a lot of subs Mel but I think most supermarkets are having problems with deliveries to them.
Early this morning OH had another phone call to say could he go to the hospital for an ultrasound scan today. Unfortunately we haven’t got the car so they’ve booked him in for 9 am tomorrow. I am a bit concerned that no-one has mentioned what might be wrong but suddenly he’s getting very quick appointments and everyone is rushing around. I suppose if it’s serious the earlier it can be treated the better. We haven’t heard anything about the possible arthritis which is what’s causing the pain.
I am supposed to be having a haircut tomorrow morning. I hope we might be back from the hospital in time for me to go. If I have to cancel goodness knows when I can fit it in.
Oh well, these things are sent to try us (and they do)

Morning all,
It seems all our MOT's are coming this and fast now with the corvid restriction last year and them putting the dates forward. Hope you have a better one than I did Vera.
Anng it will be lovely to take that little walk with your daughter and SIL T would be proud of you. He'll be watching over you and his family. Hope the weathers nice for you.

Have a great day today girls and enjoy it.

You ordered 1 X ASDA 6 Hot Cross Buns 6pk
We sent 1 X Warburtons Fruity Teacakes 4 pk
You ordered 1 X ASDA Sultana & Cherry Cake each

Alright the tea cakes we don't mind and he won't mind the madera cake instead of his cherry and sultana one. I only like the Aberdeen angus burger and not their ones so they will be going back. The beef is ok but I see I hav'nt got MY icecreams again. I like the raspberry Magnum, last week I got the pink choc ones in a smashed up box and this week we have two of the ordinary ones oh likes. I already have a box of those int he freezer so that will make three boxes in there now.

Morning AnnG and all
It’s a bit brighter and we’re promised sunny spells today and it should get warmer. I hope it does as I am going to a birthday tea in someone’s garden this afternoon. I don’t really want to go but feel I must try and make it a nice day for her as she’s had a rotten year. For her 70th birthday last year we sat in a widely spaced circle in a field opposite her house. Because of the distance between us we could only talk to our immediate neighbours, then it rained so we all left and went home. Then the celebration cruise she planned with her twin brother and their families had to be cancelled. Since then she has had a serious eye problem needing several visits to a London hospital and a hip operation.
AnnG, it’s a good idea to do your walk by the canal with support from your daughter and sil. It’s bound to bring back sad memories but it is another step forward.
At the moment we’re waiting for someone to pick our car up and take it off for an annual service and MOT so the bank balance will be a bit lighter by tonight.
