That is exciting Mel, have you seen photos of him before?

Ann so that is you occupied for the foreseeable then.

We have had some heavy showers this afternoon but also some sun in between. the meeting went off very well. We were all spaced out and despite the rain managed to keep doors and windows open. also gave them anti bac on their hands as they came in. Some were here an hour and a half some stayed the two hours and it was a very lively meeting., lot of subjects covered.

I have been bitten several times this week it is just the weather for it, mossies do like me.

Afternoon All,

I slept like a top again last night under my sheet, but I woke up this morning with my glasses on the pillow!!! Thank goodness I didn't roll on them as I only got 1 pair last time, living in hopes I would be getting my cataracts done......wrong! No rain here yet so all the plants are looking sorry for themselves. It is cooler with a slight breeze so feels much better.

The photo is great Mandy and how the children have grown. By their happy little faces they really enjoyed the competition and were looking forward to the chocolates! :-D I hope your son's mouth isn't too painful today. Salty water rinses are as good as anything for disinfecting the mouth according to my dentist. :-)

I have booked another landscape painting course, in acrylic paint this time and a different teacher. I was on a waiting list and a space came up! Not sure how I will find it as the teacher does a lot of abstract in his own work, but it will keep me practising till December! I only know what I have picked up about acrylic paint so I might learn some useful tips as it is so different to watercolour. With acrylic paint you paint dark colours, then can add light ones on top, but with watercolour the light won't show up over dark! I just need to order a few colours that are suggested and I haven't got but have enough brushes and pads.

Hubby has been working away this morning whizzing off emails to people and doing notes and has another meeting tonight, this time on zoom. Last night he got bitten by mozzies at his meeting as everything was wide open and he made sure he sat near the door so was first in line for getting bitten. :-S They were sanitising all the desks and chairs when he arrived and they were all well apart. He was pleased they have new adult size chairs and tables to use now. He used to have to sit on children's chairs before!

All I have done today is feed the chcikens and bantams and done some ironing and put some socks away.

Nearly time for my second pill of the day and then get the lunch.

Its 18degrees here too and very war, as no breeze at all today here either.

Hope Franky boy is having a nice time in spain and they had a good flight.

Sending love to Island and hope she is feeling better than she was last week. <3

Hope too that Gill is getitng soemthing done in the new place. She needs that bathroom before the winter sets in.

Great photo Mandy :-). Thank you AnnG and Mel for forwarding it to me.

I didn’t bother hanging the washing out as the air is damp with spits and spots and there is no wind at all to blow anything dry. I’ve had a shower and I think I will now make a list of what we need to take away with us. I’m a list maker as I always think I’ll forget something important, like meds, if I haven’t got it written down. I’m a last minute packer though.

I’d like to ring and find out how the arrangements for getting granddaughter to her course are progressing but don’t want to hassle them. Son is going through a lot of work related stress as well at the moment and doesn’t need any more. He has had several really bad migraines lately where his speech has been affected and he ends up talking gobbledygook.and can’t remember simple words like water. They are almost certainly stress related.

I don’t seem to have much mojo this morning but I’d better get on and do something useful I suppose.

Done Mandy Great photo isn't it?

Good morning, still sticky here 18 degrees so a lot cooler so far. We did have some rain but the paths, patio etc had dried up by the time I got up so I don't think it was much. Hope it was enough to refresh the plants a bit anyway. I didn't sleep too badly didn't have the duvet over me. I managed to acquire a bite on my midriff in the night must have been a mossie in the bedroom.

I have just been cleaning the lounge and setting out seating for 9 of us (relieved it is not any more. The chairs are well spaced and all doors and windows will be left open even if raining so we should be ok. I am pretty sure that we are all double jabbed anyway so that is a help.

Good morning all

It was a restless, sticky night again. We had some rain overnight but it still feels very heavy and there’s no sign of sun yet.

I’ve got a load of washing in the machine but otherwise haven’t planned much for today.

Good photo Mandy thanks for sending it.

Well I always think I do a good job but they seem to do it almost as a matter of course at out surgery. I have to admit that after not going to the dentist for 18 months I have begun to feel the cleaning needs doing, It is done every 6 months so that means I have missed three. I suppose it also means I have saved some money Lol!!

Annx

Annx Report 8 Sep 2021 20:09

Evening All,

Slept like a log with just a sheet over me last night. I meant to be in the garden early to do more pruning but after 2 early mornings this week I had a little lie in. The sun is on the bedrooms in the morning so I didn't stay for long as it gets too hot!

It's been bright sunshine all day and it's 28 degrees in here on the thermometer just now, but out the back there is a bit of breeze now which is very welcome.

I used to have to have those deep cleans or root planing as it was called then AnnG and I didn't like it at all. They used to put numbing gel along my gums. Luckily I haven't needed one for years nor any other kind of clean, but I do a really good job myself...........anything to avoid those deep cleans!! lol.

My hair feels nice and cool now Vera, she cut it even shorter this time! Yes, see if you can get a flu jab booked. I have read that driver shortages are affecting deliveries of the vaccine and causing delays. It sounds like your trip out was good and that your OH managed quite well which would have cheered him up seeing all the flowers. Also the good news before you go away that nothing sinister showed on the scan. That Salvia you got looks nice and not too big......I've made a note of the name! I have had an invite to our school reunion meal in October, but have declined as I can't see that staying well spaced either! Also there may be this 'firebreak' with the virus then. It will be nice to see the sea on your trip to 'Skeggy' as it's known in this neck of the woods! I haven't been for over 20 years, but it was always good for a daytrip from here. That's just what we did cateringwise when we went to Cornwall. lol. Take your own tin opener in case you need one though, as we found the one we had where we stayed was hopeless!! :-S

Did you do the ironing outside Mel? I used to do that when I did ironing in hot weather and needed something urgently.

That sounded like a bit of an ordeal for your poor son Mandy, but hopefully the toothache will be gone as the gum heals now. I bet he will be so glad when he's rid of the pain from it. Yes I'll be getting down to find a best price for OH's car tomorrow. I need some photos to send of his old one, but didn't want to go outside in the heat and he's at a meeting in it tonight (I told him good luck with no aircon as he left!!) He could have taken mine but is scared of it getting damaged with where he has to park!

I have just liquidized and frozen some of our tomatoes for sauces and I'm off to bed now as it is the coolest place by evening. Hope everyone can sleep ok.

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Sep 2021 18:41

No just one of his side teeth on the bottom Anng it had been filled a couple of times and the filling came out each time and some of the tooth broke off so after bad tooth ache the dentist said we'll take it out, he had three numbing injections but still felt it .

Vera the stitches should dissolve ,he has a check up next week ,he's taking all the pain killers he can and using an ice pack on his jaw .

There's a photo of the scarecrow now on FB but I don't know how to take from there so you can all see it .

We have been sitting out under the gazebo it was nice as we had a nice breeze at times .

Vera thats good news there was nothing sinister in the bladder you must be relieved about that and its good he has more tablets to take with him on holiday ,I hope they can find out what it is /was .

Will need to water tonight ,I bought some Violas in tesco but haven't put them yet because of the heat .

SuffolkVera Report 8 Sep 2021 16:58

I laughed at your OH’s attempt at hanging up his washing Mel and he’s right about the Tate. If Tracy Emin was shortlisted for the Turner Prize for her mucky bed and it was later sold for £2.5 million, an artwork called Mr Mel’s Laundry must be worth as much. Any bidders?

Your poor son Mandy. His mouth must be very sore. Will his stitches dissolve or has he got to have them taken out? I think most building materials are in short supply now. It will be a shame if Gill’s building work is delayed for longer as she has already been waiting for such a long time.

You are right Mel that it is roughly 2 hours to Lowestoft from here but that’s not where we are going. That was a day trip by coach last week. We are going to somewhere outside Skegness but it should still only be a drive of about 3 hours. OH seems to be fine driving and, though I don’t enjoy driving, I can take over if I need to. Apart from the pain in the groin and his slow walking he seems much better now. There have been one or two developments. A couple of days ago he had a letter from the Urology consultant confirming that there were one or two minor problems in his bladder but that nothing “sinister” had been seen. He will contact OH again when he has the results of the latest scan. This morning one of the docs from the practice rang to say that the blood tests for RA showed negative. That’s good news but still leaves us not knowing what caused the sudden onslaught of pain. As the tablets the first doc prescribed have helped a great deal OH has been given more to last through our holiday and a face to face appointment has been set up for when we get back.

It has been sweltering again today and it’s still 26 degrees. There is a bit of a breeze but that only seems to be moving the heat around. It could be another sticky uncomfortable night. Fingers crossed we all get some sleep.

Ooh Mandy your poor son that sounds painful, mess it an abcess or a wisdom tooth? Hope it heals soon and stops being painful and having less numbing must have been horrible. Last time I had an extraction I had to have an additional injection halfway through. I have quite a high pain threshold except with teeth when it is low.

It has clouded over now still hot and no rain yet.mfirecast thunder storms. Hope they are wrong.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Sep 2021 14:47

Mandy I did tell him that but he said that'll do. He knew IO would'nt be able to stand it and pegged it up for him properly.

His grey clothing always turns out multi coloured anyway with the paint, grease and goodness knows what on it. At least with him wearing grey it dos'nt show the dirt so much.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Sep 2021 13:50

Oh I meant to say on the news last night they were saying that bricks were in short supply, you have to order now to get them next year !!! I thought of Gill doing her new bathroom ,maybe that's why the builders are not getting back to her to do the work they know they can't get the supplies they need to do it .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Sep 2021 13:45

Afternoon all,

Phew it's hot here to hot to be out so the fans on and were not doing to much ,did go to Tesco first thing while it was quiet.

Oh Mel :-D don't let him near your bedding when you hang it out ,you need to remind him it's bottoms hung by the top and top hung from the bottom :-D

Son had his tooth out this morning ,she told him it wasn't going to be pleasant as she couldn't numb him as much as usual and he usually has extra numbing injections because of his pain threshold., his gum is all stitched up and he said it's beginning to really ache now .

So you have to get your bargaining hat on now Ann to get a good deal on a new car for OH ,hope he gives you a cut of the savings you make :-D

My sunflowers are coming out, one of them is bright yellow but the other one is a lovely burnt orange colour, plenty of bees on them.
