Evening all,

:-D Island.

Mel how nice to get a find like that on hints it spurs you on again to see if there's more
Oh no I see OH has been at it again :-D

Safe journey Vera hope the weathers good for you is it a week your going for ,did you manage to get the kitchen sink in :-D

We've taken the greenhouse down today as the cues and toms were just about over ,washed all the pots and got them away and as the weather was nice we sat and had our coffee in the sunshine.

Katie called in this afternoon after school she looked so grown up in her uniform so that was a nice surprise she stayed for over an hour and then walked over the school to get a lift home with her dad .

Posting this now as it's the second time I've typed a post and lost it .

Meant to say I keep the tops of the Pringles to put over our drink glasses. I have even had flys in my glass of water I keep in the hall at night so I have to cover that too.

Just picked a huge bunch of long beans for dinner tonight. There's still loads coming.

I don't think fruit flies bite but they fall in my drink and I an't have that. They are after the lemong. Drowning in G&T way to go!!

Had a lovely afternoon, it was the person I thought it would be we were quite friendly with her some time back and then she got involved with volunteering for Age UK and we didn't see her around. She too is on her own so I think we have persuaded her to go to the U3a meeting.

I hate that when a fly lands on yur hand when you are typing, its so annoying. Not had actual fruit flies this year (famous last words I suppose) but we get midges because the ponds are near the house. they also are annoying and land on you and bite.

Been dull and raining here nost of today.

Island Report 10 Sep 2021 14:02

Anng, yes, my eyes are a bit misty for the laptop lately but my keyboard is also awry - some of the keys either don't register or they duplicate and seeing red squiggle lines when I look up (I can't touch type) drives me bonkers as I can't clearly see what the error is. Right clicking for the correction doesn't always work

and YES....... fruit flies! Not in the kitchen where there is fruit but in the front room so they must be attracted to the pepper plants. I keep getting 'tickles' on the backs of my hands :-|

AnninGlos Report 10 Sep 2021 13:35

Island, same as you no storm but several heavy short showers. Are your eyes playing up - re the sentence about the key board. Sounds very unpleasant and frustrating.
20 degrees here now. Hope the rain is going to hold off for an hour or two.

Has anyone else got yjere tiny little 'fruit flies' horrid things seem impervious to fly spray and get everywhere.

Afternoon all

Wednesday/Thursday night, awake at 4am as it was too darn hot, went on a wander to find cool air but there wasn't any :-(

Thursday/Friday night, woke at 3.17, 4.39, 7.15 (by which time I was exhausted) - too hot again! Got up after 9.
I think we shut the loft hatch too soon so the hot air couldn't escape :-(

My keyboard seems to be part time these days, all I'm seeing is red squuiggles and it's very annoying LOL

Mandy, thanks for the scarecrow pic, what a lovely family :-D

I managed some sewing yesterday but as my craft room is upstairs...... i was too hot so didn't enjoy it other than it's another tick off the 'to do' list.

Enjoy whatever you are doing and have a safe journey Vera.

Just remembered a couple of things........
Did anyone get the much heralded thunder storms? We didn't but we did have a heavy brief downpour which was noisy on the porch roof :-0

Mel, I thought your fellas art installation was very good, especially with Vincent in the background.

There was a thatch fire in a village near us yesterday. The lovely cottage is completely destroyed. 60 firefighters were there at the cottage from all over Devon and cornwall.

It was a hot, sticky night and I got very little sleep so I’m a bit of a grumpy-head today. It’s currently 20 degrees and very “heavy” and the forecast is for thunderstorms this afternoon. I spoke too soon yesterday - I got bitten last night. It’s only on a couple of fingers but it’s itching like mad.

We’re just having a cuppa before I get on sorting out the packing. We seem to be taking everything bar the kitchen sink and I am wondering if I can fit that in too :-)

Enjoy your garden trip AnnG

Morning Anng and all,

We are one degree lower than yu today at 16 degrees. Grey sky with that fine rain in the air.Hope it stays nice for your trip out to see the garden. Are you alll going together or all making your own way there?

Nothing planned for us today. Oh was waiting in all that dry weather for a drive belt for the newest mower it was suppose to be an over night delivery but it took about five days and now its raining it won't get put on yet.

Hope you all sleep well again tonight and feel refreshed in the morning to cope with another day. Can't believe its friday again and Gardeners World again.

Night night.

That’s a lovely find Mel. You must be thrilled to see your gt.gt.aunt. A few years ago my cousin sent me a copy of a photo she had found in her father’s belongings when he died. It was our mutual grandparents with 3 of their 4 surviving children. The middle one was my Mum aged 10 or 11 and the youngest one was my cousin’s Dad aged about 5. I was so excited as I had never seen a picture of my Mum under the age of about 30 and had never seen a picture of my grandfather at all. I never knew him as he died before Mum was married.

I’m sorry some of you are getting mossiie bitten. I haven’t had any bites this year and I’m hoping it’ll stay that way.

Good luck with your acrylics painting course Ann. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

I got myself moving eventually and had quite a busy and productive day in the end. It helped that it’s been a bit cooler but the air’s quite heavy again now so I think it might be a sticky night again.

A few texts have gone back and forth with my dil this afternoon. All student accommodation in Manchester seems to be fully booked but dil has a friend whose daughter lives just outside Manchester and has a spare room so granddaughter is going there for the time being. It’ll mean more travelling between digs and college but at least she will have a safe roof over her head. Dil said she is very excited.

I think I’ll watch something on iPlayer now and then maybe read for a while before an earlyish night. I hope you all sleep well.

How exciting Mel to have a find like that! Does she look like you?

Yes AnnG I also have a short watercolour course booked for November. There are more of the Marvellous Medicine talks by our local hospitalse (on zoom at the moment) and I still get regular things to read through to comment on from the hospital research hub. Some of it is to help their PhD students, so I feel I am doing something to help with that! I can't do the lovely walks I used to do or visit big gardens and houses, but there are other things to enjoy. I need to paint my little wooden christmas scene I bought too. :-D

We have had a short shower of wonderful rain at last!! It's stopped again now though. :-S
