O I forgot to congratulate you on your anniversary Ann and G. Hope you have many more of them. . <3 <3

I had a little play with my clay this afternoon as it has been raining that fine stuff that gets everywhere so hav'nt been in the garden.

Well my pick out of the skip made a nice big hole for them to get more in and if they were throwing it away they obviously did'nt want it.

AnninGlos Report 18 Sep 2021 17:22

Happy anniversary Ann. Did you go out with your camera? We lost the sun this afternoon so I was messing around indoors and really have not a clue what I did, except to make one small Christmas card.

My ratchet secateurs arrived and are very good up to 20mm diameter branches, unfortunately I still have two that are even thicker so tomorrow if ir stays dry I will have to use the pruning saw to see if that works, it might be a combination of secateurs ratchet and bypass plus saw. But it is nearly all cut down. I now have to try and stop it growing again next year.

Mel that was a lucky find, not sure what the law is about taking stuff out of skips . Hopefully there is no CCTV.

We've had a little rain this morning so my car windows have been washed too. :-) the back screen wiper on my car has given up the ghost and its not worth paying to have a new motor put in it and its not a thing on the MOT so I will do without it.

Did the shop and when I drove past the old surgery there was a skip in the yard and poking out of it was four wheels with white legs. I stopped and had a look and it was a table with a shelf underneath and a trayed top so it went in the car on the back seat as it will be lovely for potting on outside or for oh to put his tools on when working on the mowers and things. There was loads of stuff from the old surgery in there with lots of files and a yoga mat which would have been good for when he has to lay under things but I forgot that in my hast to get the table trolley in the car. It had to go on the back seat as it would'nt fit in the boot without the seats down and I had chicken food in there too. I am now wondering if I missed any other klittle gems?

Sorry you lost you long post Mandy please try again later.

Wonder if Vera and hubby are home yet?

Ann yes go out with your camera as we need some nice pics of whets going on in the outside world. So you have found another course to interest you and maybe learn some other techniques for your watercolour painting can't wait to see the result.

Was going up the border but with the rain I think its back to the craft room.

Afternoon All,

It's our Wedding Anniversary today.........18 years and we can't believe it! We swapped cards this morning and OH had bought me a huge Toblerone Bar with 'I Love You' printed on the wrapper. We usually just do cards to each other, but I'm not complaining! :-D We were going to go for a ride somewhere and I'd suggested going to see some topiary in Rutland that is part of an unused drive at a Hall, but we both decided it gets too busy with people everywhere at the weekend, so may go on Monday now. I decided OH might as well go to footie, so he has found a poorly attended ground. It took him a while to decide whether he preferred watching BT Sports at home instead!

I got a letter from the Hospital and can't believe it. It is copied to my GP and says that because I didn't attend a clinic appointment, in accordance with the trust rules, they have discharged me back to him!! It was a phone appointment, not a clinic one and it was the Hospital that didn't keep it, not me. I will have to do a letter to my doctor to explain what happened, as well as the Hospital consultant I spoke to a couple of days ago, as he said I would only be discharged if I hadn't been in contact with him for another appointment with 6 months. :-S I hope I won't have to start everything up again for another referral and be at the back of any queue.

I hope it's a good journey home Vera. There should be less traffic going home. The Seal and Wildlife, was more Wildlife than Seal then, but sounded an enjoyable trip anyway. I'm glad you found a nice carvery with plenty of choice. Some are very good value. Thanks for the info about your rubbish bin and disposing of things. I think we will just make ourselves scarce when they collect it! That does seem stange about the dust in a dustbin! It's good the bit of walking seems to be helping your OH now. I had to smile at your bathroom antics with the shower, although it wouldn't have been funny. Showers other than your own all have different operation and can be a law unto themselves and there are never any instructions for them. We do the same as you and get the beds in both rooms made up when we go to Cornwall. At least one of you gets a good night's sleep then. :-)

I must clean my car windows and wing mirrors and lights too AnnG as they are really dirty now. There's no wiper on my back window as the glass is wavy and not flat, so that is really mucky.

I have just signed up for an online animal portrait painting course in watercolour. You just play the videos, working at your own pace and can still access them after you have finished. The prices are discounted at the moment so it was just over £17. It seems to show you a lot of techniques, so I think it will be good and I need to keep practising. There are lots of other craft courses too.

Now shall I go out with my camera or not?

Morning Vera Anng and all,

Cloudy here and its 17 degrees no glimpse of the sun at all just light grey all over.

I do hope the traffic is not too bad for your journey home Vera and you don't meet any hold ups.

I have the shop to do today for the paper and some of their nice ham and then I don't know what I shall do.

Hope you all had a good nights sleep. Sending love to all who are missing and hope Gill has at last got herself an electrician to do her work. <3

Good morning all, quite bright here and so far 13 degrees so a bit chilly. Vera should be well on the way now so I hope traffic is kind to them.

I have Tesco order between 11-12, the last three weeks he has been early, hopefully it will be again so I can get it sorted and out of the way.

Good morning all

Looks as though the weather will be fine for our journey back. We’ll probably leave in about an hour.

Mel, I haven’t mentioned sleep as I should think you’re all bored with my moans about sleep by now. Let’s just say that I always book 2 bedroom places if we’re self catering. With the upgrade we have 3 this time and a second bedroom has been well used.

I hope everyone is OK and you all have a good day.

Yes safe journey home Vera and oh. You hav'nt said how you slept this past week or have I forgotten? What a todo with your hair wash and bath. Poor Vera....

I hope Island is ok as we hav'nt heard from her today or yesterday and Mandy too?

AnninGlos Report 17 Sep 2021 22:35

At least I am going to bed smiling Vera at the thought of you doing an almost headstand under the taps.

It sound as though, other than the hair wash, you had a good last day and maybe the constant gentle walks have helped your OH’s problem
So it was not really about the seals then how strange.

Off to bed now safe journey home tomorrow Vera.

SuffolkVera Report 17 Sep 2021 20:21

I think this could be a long post but here goes. I’m doing it in Notes and will c&p so I don’t lose it again.

It must be very satisfying making your own cards AnnG and hand made are always appreciated. I love getting cards and pressies friends have made themselves. I’m hopeless at making anything so I try very hard to match my cards and presents to the recipient.

Ann, we’ve been getting rid of some heavy stuff in our bin for several weeks with no comments from the bin men. In fact the only time they complained was when they said we had put too much dust in the dustbin! It sounds as though you got a generous helping for your fish lunch.

Our meal at the “nice” restaurant last night was delicious again. OH managed 3 courses but I missed out on the starter as I wanted a dessert and couldn’t have managed both.

The seal sanctuary wasn’t really what I expected. It’s full name is apparently Seal Sanctuary and Wildlife Centre. There were lots of different birds and animals and good explanations about them and an excellent walkthrough Timeline exhibition about the geography and animals of the area through time and I felt I had learnt something new but I kept wondering where the seals were. Well, they were the last bit before the exit, a couple of ponds with, I think, 5 seals but no explanation of why they were in the sanctuary or whether they would be released back to sea.

When we left there we went to a pub in Mablethorpe that we had noticed yesterday as it had a carvery. I ordered a standard size and OH had a large plate. There were 3 roasts and a veggie pie. I said I would just have some turkey and loads was put on my plate, OH chose 2 roasts and he got even more meat for his large plate plus a sausage. We both got Yorkshire pud and then could help ourselves to roast pots, mashed pots and 5 different veg. We both had a couple of roasties and two veg. They even had 3 pots of gravy, one with meat stock, one vegetarian and one gluten free. Talk about value for money, I was very impressed.

We then had a walk along the front to the park we found yesterday where we had a walk round the lake and a sit down with an ice cream before walking back to the car. OH said himself that he felt he was walking better and he certainly seemed to need fewer rests.

Back at the cottage I started sorting out the packing. There are a few bits I can’t do till tomorrow like the fridge but most is done.

This post is getting very long but here goes with the saga of my hair wash. We are supposed to be out by 9 am so no time for showering in the morning. I was going to shower then at about 6 pm but instead decided to bath and use the hand held spray to wash my hair. What a performance I had! I ran a nice warm bath and wet my hair with the bath water, shampooed my hair and left the shampoo on while I washed myself. Then I got the shower attachment, turned on the hot tap and the shower ran icy cold. I let all this cold water run into my bath for a couple of minutes expecting it would warm up but it didn’t, so I gritted my teeth and started washing the shampoo out with this icy cold water. Suddenly it ran scalding hot. I yelped, dropped the shower into the bath water where it sprayed up all over the tiles. I must have spent the next 10 minutes fiddling with this dratted shower and eventually gave up hope of being able to get a sensible temperature but my hair was still half full of shampoo. Soooo...I let the water out of the bath, ran the tap till I got the right level of warm, knelt in the bath and dropped my head down low under the tap till I’d rinsed out the shampoo. I think I probably invented a new yoga position!

The final straw was that OH told me that while I was in the bath the owner knocked to say there was no need to leave by 9 am tomorrow, 10.30 would be fine. I could have showered and done my hair properly in the morning.

With that I’ll leave you. Good night all, sleep well.

Yes it is fun although I usually start with very simple designs using ready made toppers, mtodays were pictures of a robin, a poinsettia flower and a Bullfinch all with different background papers. The interesting bit is matching colours and adding glitter.

At least you will gradually get rid of it.

Annx Report 17 Sep 2021 18:00

Well done doing 5 cards AnnG! It must be quite fun deciding on each design.

Mel I loved all those programmes as well as Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine.

OH took the scripts in himself in the end. We ordered F&C at lunchtime. As they weren't very good last time, but most other places that deliver only have cod and we wanted Haddock, we had them from the usual place and we added onion rings and an extra portion of chips. OMG they were far bigger helpings and bigger fish this time and we ended up throwing chips away! :-)

After lunch OH started dismantling the exercise bike so we can put some in the bin each week. Isn't it always the same that the 1 alan key to fit the bolts is the only one missing from OH's set!!! Using molegrips etc the heavy flywheel and handlebars are in the bin now and the rest will go in next time I think. OH said the bits will be buried under the other rubbish. I told him I thought they may think there's a body in the bin with the weight. :-0 The dishwasher wouldn't start after lunch so I don't know if OH has caught another control as he usually puts it on. He wasn't relishing the idea of handwashing the pots again.

Enjoy the seal sanctuary Vera. We have visited the Gweek one many times, loved to see the young seals there. sometimes could be a bit smelly on a hot day though. Sometimes with the Gweek one I remember they said some seals keep trying to return there. I guess it is food on tap that encourages them. Hope it stays fine for your visit. Oh dear, don't the days go quickly when you are on holiday? Mind you it has gone quite qhickly here, this time last week I was getting ready to go and see a friend's garden.

Ann, pleased that you had a good night, I slept well, must have actually slept heavily because I was dreaming and had one of those mornings when I woke with a feeling of foreboding and depression but I didn't know why. Must have been something in the dream, I do know T was actually in the dream which is quite unusual for me. Anyway soon shook it off.

I walked round to collect my prescription. Had to leave it for 20 minutes so just went and bought a paper and magazine and had a look at the book shelf in the charity shop. local shops were reasonably busy but everyone still wearing masks. Plwased to see our infections in Gloucestershire have gone down.

Had a nice little walk around the garden and think if it dos'nt rain this afternoon I will go back up the border.

Oh has cut the budlia down and another varigated thing that has pink trumpet flowers. Can't member its name.

Done a wash and thats on the line so I think it time to find something for lunch.

I agree Ann they just don't make programs like this anymore apart from this one now. All the funny programs ar'nt funny to us now and there too much bad language in most thing too. Why can't they write things like fools and horses, dads army, and others I could mention if I could remember the names!!!! Simple things that are funny with a story behind them.

Safe journey home tomorrow Vera and enjoy the seal Sanctuary today. I was only saying how quickly the week has gone in a previous post. Its a shame you have to come home today as you seem to have really enjoyed your break.

Good Morning, good morning everyone,

Oh I slept so well last night I feel so much better. :-) It's overcast here, but dry so I think I will get the washer going once OH has finished his online seminar. The washer in the uti makes a lot of noise near where he is otherwise.

Vera, you are right about the week going quickly, I can't believe you are packing for home either. Have nice time at the Seal Sanctuary. Hopefully your OH will be more comfortable if there is less walking involved. Despite all the years we have gone to Cornwall, we still haven't got round to visiting the seal sanctuary there!

I have recorded All Creatures Mel and think we will watch it tonight as we both love it. Years ago a chap I worked with bought all the books and lent them to me to read. They were brilliant and funny, just like the series. It's nice to have progs like this to look forward to.
