Gosh call that a plant.......never its been scalped but if you put that little bit on some dirt it will probably root and the other will grow if you pot it up and put it in the greenhouse for the winter.

Afternoon All,
Slept quite well although the Police Helicopter was buzzing around above for over an hour at midnight. I got up to look out to see if it was theirs as it didn't sound very healthy! :-0
That's another jab done then Mandy and good it went well and didn't hurt at all. We have ours tomorrow and I expect our boosters will be at the racecourse again when we hear.
I see Morrisons are stopping home deliveries at 50 stores and will be cutting staff by 1,400. I hope the other supermarkets don't follow suit. I suppose the problem getting drivers and food to fill the shelves won't help. More subs will cause complaints from some and going in the stores will stop all that for them.
Your garden looks different now doesn't it AnnG. You can't tell there was a tree there now and you won't have fallen leaves to clear up.
Mel, has your OH got the mowing bug now with his shiny, newly painted mower! I suppose getting them nice and even makes them look so good. :-)
I see a few of you have had trouble with Thompson and Morgan, so I shan't use them again either. Fancy them getting the wrong seeds in the packet Mel and then suggesting it was your fault!! I had some plug plants from Dobbies this year and they were fine and I expected this one to be ok too. I'll send a photo of it that I sent them that I took before I removed it. My email was very no nonsense and I didn't ask for a refund I TOLD them to send one or I could only give them a damning review. It was over £8 so I wasn't going to accept it or pay to return it. I'll stick it in a pot on the very slim chance it will survive the winter and grow.
OH has had to wash out our bin as somehow the binmen have got a tarry, muddy substance arround the top and there is smelly, dirty liquid in the bottom. Everything that goes in our bin apart from hoover dust has always been in a bag, I even use the big bags toilet rolls come in and other bags off magazines to put kitchen waste in so we have never had to wash it. I suspect the binmen have lifted something from another bin and put it on top of the stuff in ours before wheeling it to empty. It saves them moving so many bins then.

Afternoon all,
Lovely day here again, had our flu jabs Irene saw us waiting and called us ahead of the queue, the pharmacist was a nice young chap he said the young lady who was doing them on Tuesday was doing them for the first time but he couldn't understand why she got so far behind as he said she had trained to do them the same time as he had trained and he was very good I didn't even feel it go in .
Anng that has opened up your garden the plants will love to see a bit of sky , I said I bet the birds will miss the tree.
Ann that was good you got a refund for your plants ,sounds as if some of the others have had a bit of trouble with that company too.
There's big queues here too for petrol ,you know as soon as they mention shortages of things people will go crazy for it .
We're going to sit out in the garden this afternoon we seem to have had a busy week so we'll make the most of the nice warm sunny day .

I suppose, being Friday there will be people who are going on holiday or off to see family. I did tead advice somewhere, not sure who by, not to let your car go below half full so that is going to cause panic buying. Knowing what people are like it might have been better to ration fuel, but I don't thin they can do that quickly.

Morning all
Thanks for the photos AnnG. I bet taking the tree down has really opened up your garden. You are doing well keeping on top of it all.
Mandy, I can’t believe anyone would be so mean as to nick a couple of your little rings, when they were so low priced anyway. It’s just abusing your generosity.
I wasn’t at all surprised that you had a duff plant from T & M Ann, but I was surprised you got your money back. My daughter, a friend and I have all had trouble with them and will never use them again. In my case I only lost £2.99 for a packet of delphinium seeds that turned out to be antirrhinums (sp?). An apology from them would have been sufficient. Instead I got told I hadn’t germinated them correctly :-S. Both my daughter and our friend lost quite a bit of money on plants that never arrived or that arrived dead or dying.
A friend has just rung to say that she has to drive her husband to the hospital tomorrow and was low on fuel so went out to get some. Apparently there are queues a mile long at every service station and a couple of smaller ones have now run out. Why do people panic so much? They don’t seem to realise that they will cause shortages. It’s the toilet roll saga all over again.
After a grey, cool start the sun has come out and it has got a lot warmer so I might go and take some geranium cuttings and potter in the garden a bit.

Yes I like it a lot it really brightens up that half of the garden. It will be interesting to see how it affects the plants in the right hand border.

Well the doves and magpies would be no loss but they still came into the garden looking for food. And my tiny robin was all round my feet as I was tidying up after the apple tree this morning. I cut down the rambler branches I couldn't reach before and trimmed back a lot of ivy that couldn't be seen when the tree was there. I have sent photos of what it looks like.

Morning Anng and all,
You've baffled them Anng they won't thank you for that. Cloudy here and it was supposed to be a nice day . Pc says 15 degrees partly sunny but we don't seem to have that part this morning.
I'm hoping it brightens up later in the day.
Nothing planned for today only a tiny bit of painting and a varnish or three.

Good morning all, a lovely sunny autumn morning 10 degrees so a bit cooler. There are some confused collard doves and magpies out there this morning. They used the apple tree as a stopping off point before and the collard doves ate the seed in one of the feeders. At the moment there is only a place for one feeder but I will sort that out

Yes the garden looks bigger without the tree, I actually like it because the tree was starting to lean quite a lot and looked really scruffy. They didn’t take the stump out that would have been a really big job. At the moment there is a spreading plant almost covering it. I don’t know what the plant is it has always been there has tiny white flowers in spring.
I won’t get more sun Mandy as the trellis is still there with rambling roses and jasmine and ivy on it that stops the sun until late afternoon on that patch it will get more light there though and less shade with the leaves gone. And less work as every year the branches that grew upwards, not fruit bearing, had to be cut down, ther were at about eight feet and too high for me to cut this year.
None of the plants are in the soil they are all in pots.

Yes let's hope so Ann I won't be very happy if we have to rebook .
I heard them say will it be petrol rationing next but looking at the bbc news looks like it BP who has to close a few stations because there's a shortage of drivers ,reading on it says Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury have no problems We're with British gas for our gas and electric .
Wonder what Mel has made ,my Christmas fat quarters and little bells should come tomorrow so I hope I can have a go at my Christmas make over the weekend .

Hope you get your flu jabs ok without a hitch tomorrow Mandy. It will be nice to have a freshly decorated lounge, but a rest after your jabs is a good idea. Those mean people taking things like that when you weren't asking much for them anyway. I keep telling OH not to carry any heavy bags when the shopping comes, and to put some in another bag, but they don't listen do they. :-S He might now he's had a bit of pain though.
Not petrol as well now! I've been checking our gas supplier is still trading, What next? Dearer this and that, more tax to pay, possible charge per mile for motoring........it's not looking good. We'll have to bung up any draughts and have an egg timer next to the shower when OH is in there! :-(

Not another one knocking over ornaments Vera! :-) That was lucky as you say. My OH never thinks to 'prepare the way' by opening doors before he tries to carry something awkward through. I suspect he was fiddling with the door when that mattress flipped and knocked my vase over! I hope your OH's results come through quickly so thay can start any treatment. Yes OH can be tardy getting to the docs if he thinks it isn't urgent. With having a hernia before he won't leave it too long if it gets worse as he knows about them strangulating. We are avoiding the city hospitals till at least after our boosters and to see what happens by then. OH has been waiting over a year and a half for his tooth appointment now.You are quite right about the higher infection rates here making you think twice about what you do. They have come down slightly this last week, but we have the big Diwali celebrations soon when they close off a main road and thousands turn up from everywhere so that will have an impact.
Your poor friends, one having to sleep sitting up for weeks and the other poor lady lying in a field, Her quick thinking daughter did well didn't she.
Well the package had just one of the sedums and it was pathetic! One tiny shoot on the plug and two equally tiny broken off. I sent a swift email with a photo asking for a refund and within half an hour they had sent it to me. You'd think a big company like Thompson and Morgan would check what gets sent out.
I bet your garden is beginning to look quite different with the tree gone AnnG. They were quick doing it and did they get the stump out as well? Have you any plans yet for where it was?

Evening all,
It's been a lovely warm day here with a blue sky all day and we've been in side as we are trying to decorate the lounge at last ,at the moment we have left the old carpet down just in case there's a wait for a new one ,the ceiling is now done with two coats and now we start on the walls ,tomorrow we have our flu jabs ,fingers crossed so I don't think we will do much tomorrow.
I put the bracelets, ear rings and little rings out and now have £23.50 but today two little rings went walk about ,I put fifty pence each but still they had to pinch them ,if they came and said my little one would like one but I haven't the money I would have given them some ,oh well I hope the little ones they give them to likes them.
Lovely to see you safely home Frank hope your more relaxed now and yes do tell what was Ros's present .
Ann thanks for posting Williams poem ,how good was that :-D I hope he can get them published. Hopefully your course might get better so you can enjoy it ,I'm looking forward to seeing some more pictures . Poor OH with his hernia he'll have to take care no heavy lifting .
So the apple tree is no more then Anng I expect the birds will wonder where is gone ,will you get more sun now in the garden.
So roll on Wednesday then Vera hope they Dan get to the bottom of whats caused the pain . Your poor friends, don't think I could sleep sitting up for six weeks that's going to be tough and as for the ambulance what a wait she would have had if her daughter hadn't said she might have knocked her head . I don't know things are really going to pot one way or another. Now I've just heard petrol might be rationed.
Mel that was a wait for your F&C but at least you know they are freshly cooked ,hope you enjoyed them.

Did'nt go up the garden this afternoon but I did bake my latest project which you will see very soon after its varnished.
Has your friend gone away with some good ideas about making cards Anng? Your garden is going to look strange without that lovely apple tree. I liked the way it was surroiunded by the bed of flowers.
Vera its good oh did'nt break the ornament and only knocked it over.
Ann hope the course was a bit better than you expected and you learnt something.
Love to Island and hope she is ok as we hav'nt heard from her for a few days. <3

You have all been busy chatting. Welcome back Frank, pleased that you had a good time Hope you feel better for it.
Ann, if you are learning new things it will probably be worth sticking with it and maybe it will all fall into place as you absorb more.
Vera, you will have to get ear defenders when OH is about to do a job around the house. Glad the xray and blood test are all done, hope the results are good. Gosh that poor woman, well done her daughter for exaggerating re the ambulance 13 hours sounds a bit excessive.
he Apple tree is no more. Took all of about 20 minutes for three of them to cut it down load up the truck and shred the branches and clear up all the fallen apples, then to blow away the sawdust and it cost £150 so cheaper than he said. It does look so much lighter out there.
Other than that I cut down the peony this morning and found some more blackberry growing so cut that down, plus an old honeysuckle. The this afternoon Anne came round to see how she would make Christmas cards. So I took a load of stuff downstairs and now I have to clear it all away again.

Good afternoon everyone
It’s a nice day here, bright and sunny but there is quite a strong breeze. In sheltered spots it’s warm but when that breeze blows there’s a real nip in the air.
All the banging yesterday turned out to be OH changing a light bulb!!! It was a tiny LED bulb at the top of a display cabinet which is on the wall so first he went to get my sturdy kitchen steps which are in a cupboard in the utility. Bang went the cupboard door. The steps are quite heavy and as he carried them through he used his elbow to push open the kitchen and lounge doors which both went bang. Then he had to open the steps. You have to push firmly down on the top step to lock everything in position but he gave it a good thump……another loud crash. He then changed the bulb and managed to knock over an ornament in the cabinet which, luckily for him, did not break or his life would not have been worth living. He’s always been a bit on the noisy side but he is definitely getting worse. No wonder I’m a nervous wreck lol.
He is now all X-Rayed and blood tested and we’ve just had a call from the surgery arranging a telephone appointment with the doctor for next Wednesday when she should have at least the X-Ray results and with luck will have the blood tests too. I didn’t get my stroll by the river and coffee at the hotel as after the X-Ray OH wanted to go and get some more of the tiny LED bulbs and then we bought a new kitchen bin for rubbish for recycling. I’ve been looking for ages for a new one and saw just the one this morning.
Ann, will your OH speak to the doctor about his possible hernia? Or is he like most men who put off seeing the doctor till they absolutely have to? Your new art course doesn’t sound very enjoyable but perhaps it will improve. Several years ago OH was chairman of a local study group that was affiliated to Cambridge. One year he arranged a 10 week course on Modern Art. The first night the lecturer got us looking at various modern paintings and discussing what we thought about them. Virtually everyone thought they were terrible and a 5 year old could do better. After the 10 weeks we looked at the same paintings again and found we were really seeing things in them that we hadn’t seen before and having serious discussions about them. I do quite like some modern stuff, paintings rather than “installations”. I’m glad something is getting sorted about your hospital appointment but why can’t these organisations simply say “We’re sorry. We made a mistake”? I was surprised that so many of the local schoolchildren and staff have contracted Covid. I’m not surprised you are a little more cautious than me as your area seems to have been hit quite hard whereas we have got away fairly lightly here.
I didn’t realise that your dungarees had to go back to China Mel. No wonder it was so expensive. You did have a long wait for your f & c. You’re more patient than me. I would probably have given up and gone back and cooked egg on toast or something.
Good to see you back Frank. I hope the break did you and Ros a lot of good. Yes, what did you get her for her birthday? You always seem to pick lovely presents for her.
My friends are dropping like flies. Now a neighbour tripped on a loose paving stone in town and has broken her arm. She has got to sleep sitting up for 6 weeks. You remember my friend who fell and broke her replacement hip and both arms. I have now heard the rest of the story. Apparently she and another friend were walking their dogs on some meadow land when she fell. As it was obvious she was badly injured the friend called for an ambulance only to be told it would come in about 13 hours!! When she said that the woman was badly injured and lying on the ground in a field she was politely told that she would have to stay there for the next 13 hours. I understand the very difficult situation that call handlers and front line staff are in but I find that dreadful. The friend rang the woman’s daughter who lives about 5 miles away and she raced up in her car. She rang the ambulance service again and said that her mother had fallen forward and may have banged her head which was true enough although there was no bleeding from her head. As soon as a possible head injury was mentioned she became a priority and am ambulance duly arrived.
I’m rambling on again aren’t I? Writing on here I feel as though I am talking to friends so I just natter away. Right, I’m off to do some household jobs.
