AnninGlos Report 26 Sep 2021 08:21

good morning all slept an hour later today (not actually an hour longer as I woke twice for the loo, once only an hour after I got to bed, then at about 0630 but then went back to sleep. White sky and 13 degrees. Yesterday turned out to be warm and sunny, still no rain at all for ages, fed up with watering pots now. got a couple more baskets to empty today. but nothing else planned.

I hav'nt done anything today except varnish my latest project and go up the shop.

We've not heard anything about our jabs yet and when I asked the doc when she rang me she said they would be getting them in about 2 weeks.

Yes I have been saying where's our Island and I hope she is ok.

I wonder how Gill got on with the electrician and getting a joiner?

I am sure I have the correct address for Ann. I have double checked against emails she has sent. It is very odd as sometimes she receives them and sometimes she doesn’t :-S. When I sent 2 emails with holiday photos, one immediately after the other and both addressed to GR Group Ann received the first but not the second. How weird is that?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Sep 2021 16:47

With the emails why don’t you email Vera Ann then she can check she up is using the correct email to send to you by returning your email.nSaying this as for a while I remember I had the wring email for you.

SuffolkVera Report 25 Sep 2021 16:03

It’s strange that you are not getting my emails Ann. I can’t work out why that would be :-S

AnnG, I can understand there being queues at a vaccination walk in centre but not somewhere operating an appointment system, and why is there extra paperwork with the flu jab this year? Usually it’s quickly and easily logged on the computer. Every area seems to operate differently. We are having our flu and our booster jabs together on October 11th at our local surgery. We are given a specific appointment time. In my case it’s 9.50 am. The lady booking the appointments didn’t give me a time for OH but said he would follow straight after me.

I too hope Island is OK as I haven’t noticed her posting much on other threads either.

Took a while to post so missed some! Gwyn, that's what we had, ours was a 5 minute slot with OH after mine so we were through in minutes too! We were sent texts telling us what to do and where to go, wear a mask etc. There didn't appear to be any paperwork to hold us up, although they must put on your records you've had the flu jab. How many of you have had the free pneumonia jab for the over 60s? I had mine years ago with getting what the doctor thought was allergic chest infections.

I think we will get the same vaccines we had before so there isn't likely to be an allergic reaction that there might be with a change. I expect we will be going to the racecourse again like before. OH's is likely to be on a different day as they did Pfizer some days and Astrazenica others last time.

I wonder what Mel is making now?

Annx Report 25 Sep 2021 15:37

Afternoon All,

Got our flu jabs done at the surgery this morning. We were 10 minutes early but no-one was waiting so we went straight in together and were both directed to one of the doctors who was doing them as well this time. I had mine in my R arm as the last covid one ached for a week or two, so with doing painting I thought it best to have that in my L arm when we get called. I can tell I've had it now as it feels like a bruise and a bit achey when I move it, but not painful.

I've been in the greenhouse and cut off a lot of the leaves and bare branches on the toms and picked another basinful. I also potted up the pathetic plant and it's shoot and will see how it does. No I didn't get your reply Vera. It's odd isn't it? The second sedum plant from somewhere else has arrived now so tomorrow I will unpack that and hope it is in a better state than the first. :-) One of the Cosmos flowers has started to open and is white......hurrah at last!

Good idea to get another freezer in the garage Vera. I don't know how I would manage without mine now. We had to make a temporary space for ours, but it will stay there till we clear the rest of the garage now.

You have been busy doing HW! I must get down to some next week. The food comes tomorrow and so far there is only one thing not in stock which is better than usual. It could all change by tomorrow though.

We are with Octopus for our gas and electric and the local paper says today that they pay for fuel a year in advance so we should be ok for now at least.

I hope Island is ok, we haven't seen her post for a while.

AnninGlos Report 25 Sep 2021 15:34

Not sure if doing both at once is a good idea or not. I suppose it gets both out of the way, ensures people so have the flu one but takes so long. our flu vacines used to be so quick and efficient. Looks like you have to set aside a whole morning or afternoon and pointless trying to take the car and park if you can get there by some other means. which is made even more difficult by the lack of bus drivers and cancelled buses.

Ann
You've been really busy in your garden.
Fortunately, our garden bin collection service is to resume this coming week, so my bin will be out early on Monday, to be sure not to miss them.
I've really missed the collections, since July, as being a non driver, I don't like to trouble the family, so things have been a bit neglected.

Had my flu jab this morning at our GP's surgery
SO efficient.
They send out letters for time brackets, - mine was between 8.30 and 9.30 and they just see you in order of attendance.
One person administers vaccine, while another logs it onto the computer.
No waiting. In fact I only just had time to take my cardigan off, before I was called forward.
Don't think I was in the building for 2 minutes !
In one door and out through another - sorted .

No news of Covid boosters yet.

Wrote a post and the mouses batterys ran out so I changed them and they did'nt work so put more in and a flash on the mouse and I lost the blimmin post. :-( :-( :-( I must learn to turn it off when I do that.

Just how many times have we thrown things out over the years to find we need jus that thing a while later?

Hope the new freezer serves you well Vera.

It started to rain as I left for the shop and I had to wait outside as there were two people in there and there were two in front of me outside. I never seem to be able to time it right when I go down there.

Won't be going up the border today as its all wet up there now.

AnninGlos Report 25 Sep 2021 15:06

Well yesterday they started doing both covid boosters and flu jabs at the same time. Queues were long and people waited over an hour as apparently there is paperwork with the flu jab (so I was informed although that sounds unusual). My friend who is about 3 years older than me was called in for yesterday, she is also before me alphabetically so I am hoping to hear soon although not looking forward to an hours wait.

I spent an hour in the garden this morning cutting back ivy that had grown around under the tree from the p;ant that is on the trellis. I have filled a large weed bucket with that and other bits cut back. I managed to move the salvia hot lips but had to cut a couple of roots that had rooted from the pot right through the gravel and membrane, hopefully it will survive. I need a slab to stand it on. then I planted some red tulips into a tub which stands on the gravel. It is looking quite good there now.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 25 Sep 2021 13:00

It was foggy and cool first thing. Now it's warmer but overcast. Not much sun today.

That plant was a disgrace Ann. As I said in my email reply I have put better plants in the bin. Did you receive that reply by the way, or have the gremlins been up to their tricks again?

Sorry to hear your arm is stiff after your jab Mandy but hopefully that will go off after a day or two. You could use it as an excuse not to do any h/w ;-)

I took some geranium cuttings yesterday. Usually they root easily but I didn't do very well with last year's cuttings. I'll lift the mother plants as well and overwinter them but some of them are so old now that they may not survive.

Today I've given a thorough clean to the bathroom and the upstairs en-suite. That seemed to take longer than I expected. I think I am slowing up. We've also invested in another freezer to go in the garage which OH ordered yesterday afternoon and it arrived this morning. When we moved here 8 years ago we put our big chest freezer in the garage and bought an upright for the kitchen. Then we decided we didn't need the garage freezer as we had a corner shop for bits and pieces and several supermarkets within a mile or two, and no longer had loads of home grown vegetables to freeze, so we got rid of it. Stupid move! First the corner shop shut, then we had Covid and lockdowns and not going out shopping and I found the kitchen upright was too small for me to really stock up or to take advantage of special offers. So we are back with a freezer in the garage. We were a bit limited for choice as a lot of modern freezers are not suitable to go outside but found an upright that will fit in nicely in the space we have cleared for it. We now need to clear out the rest of the garage to make a bit more room. It's a big double garage but half of it functions as our shed so has all the garden tools and equipment and a bench for me for potting up etc., plus lots of old toot we seem to have accumulated.

OH has just called out that he's made me a pate and rocket sandwich so I'd better go and get it. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

22 degrees here, I have cleaned the bathroom and the downstairs floors, done a load of washing, had the Tesco delivery a couple of acceptable subs, well cheap gin ordered and substituted by Gordons so £16 instead of £20.50 I will accept that.
Also lopped off the branches of the holly tree that were growing too high.

Iv'e had a sweep up this morning too and washing is on the line.

Iv'e had a little paint too and it will be dry enough to varnish this afternoon.

Mandy what are you making at the mo, more beading?

Morning all,

It's about 16 degrees here and cloudy ,arms a bit stiff this morning after the jab .,just done a pile of ironing and two loads of washing which are just hanging as there not a breath of wind .

Coffee next and then on to a job outside , I think a good sweep up outside the back door is needed as there's loads of leaves and Max's hair .

Good morning all a white/light grey sky and no sun so far but 14 degrees here at the moment. I woke early so was up by 7am, seems to be the norm at the moment but at least I am sleeping from about 11pm to 5/5.30am.

Tesco delivery this morning, already had two things unavailable One was lamb shank which was ok until Thursday the other was tinned French beans which I ordered in case veg supply gets worse. Obviously everyone was doing the same.

I'm going to put the tiny bits in the pot with the soil and sticks like you say and just see what happens. It's worth a try.

Oh no Mandy, the silliness has already started then! OH has been busy telling me there will be no problems earlier, but I see he's not going far to footie tomorrow. I told him they will be syphoning off his fuel while he's watching the match!

MillymollyAmanda Report 24 Sep 2021 19:05

Oh my goodness Ann thats not a plant just a lump of soil with a few tiny sticks sticking out ,that should never have been sent out like that .

Well that's two of the three petrol stations in town sold out of petrol .

AnninGlos Report 24 Sep 2021 16:54

This afternoon I added bits to my Tesco order, lamb shank is out of stock so have ordered lamb leg steaks, some for the freezer.

Apparently the vaccinations in our village are an hours wait because they are doing flu jabs at the same time and there is paperwork for that, how stupid. When we went past on the way to and from photography there was still a long queue.

I really like the garden without the tree and I am sure T would too. The birds have plenty of other shrubs to perch on in the garden.

We had a good photography session, the themes for the next three months are flowers, Autumn and 'bridges'.  We had a new man join, husband of Jane who I travelled with to Pitville Park a while back, his name is Tony which felt very odd.
