Good morning all, grey here so far, rain forecast, fingers crossed it won't be too heavy. dentist at 12.15 so not a happy bunny this morning.
Gill hope that the electrician does keep his appointment on Friday. I suppose you have to hope he has enough fuel for his van to get there. shame that the weather had put a stop to your gardening, hopefully you will get a few more dry days to finish it off for winter. Hope you can find somebody to fit new doors for you, you don't want to lose all your heat when the cold weather comes. Is it actually the laptop that goes off or your Wifi?

Hi all
Good news at last the electrician got back to us and is coming on Friday to sort the bathroom and kitchen electrics, that's if he turns up. He said he was going to email me a quote a few days ago and up to now it hasn't arrived, so I left him a message to ask for it. If it doesn't arrive tonight I'll try ringing him again tomorrow, hopefully he'll pick up then instead of it going to voicemail.
It's been very wet and windy here lately and I noticed last night the wind was blowing through our wooden back door so I think I'll make some calls and see if we can have our front and back doors replaced before the winter arrives. With the cost of gas going up we don't want to have to put the heating on all the time to keep warm.
With the weather being so bad all the outside jobs have come to a standstill so we're hoping it brightens up soon as all the plants I cut back in the front are starting to grow back and need digging out, otherwise I would of wasted my time cutting them back in the first place.
My laptop suddenly went off before so I'm going to post this incase it happens again. Love the pics Mel, I'm sure the lawn will come back once it's had a bit of rain. Take care everyone <3

We haven’t had much in the way of rain this afternoon but it is still very breezy. I just had a walk round our pocket handkerchief of a garden and was surprised to see a single day lily in bloom. The others finished a while ago. I also just caught a glimpse of pink in a very full trough of white geraniums. I pulled some leaves aside and there was a deep pink Busy Lizzie. I’ve no idea where that came from.
Sorry you are still getting pain in your back and leg Frank. I hope it feels better soon. I’ve read quite a lot of David Baldacci too.
It’s sad when you hear about your old teachers passing away isn’t it Ann., particularly when they were good teachers who had been important to you. It somehow seems to be the end of an era. Last year we lost two teachers who had been important to me. One had been both my French teacher in the lower part of grammar school and my first form teacher when I went there at the age of 10. She always seemed middle aged but could only have been about 23 when she was my form mistress. The other one taught English to my O-Level class and A-Level group and introduced me to the joys of a seat in “the gods” at the Old Vic. Her teaching has stood me in good stead and I still feel guilty if I write something that I know isn’t good grammar. I don’t think any of my old teachers are still around now.
I had another go at getting through to the DWP by phone. After listening to some jangly music and the awful message about 60 times (I timed it, it was every 20 seconds) I gave up. I think the music was meant to be jolly and uplifting but I just found it infuriating. I have now written to them and got the letter in today’s post so I hope that this time my pension will end up in the right account. I’m not holding my breath.
I’ve also gone back to writing up about our 2017 Russian holiday before I totally forget all the details. It’s going to run to well over 50 pages I think, but there are quite a few pictures in it. The idea was for us to have a printed copy to look at from time to time as we get even older than we are, and for our kids and anyone else who is interested to read.
Just noticed the time. If we are going to eat this evening I had better get cooking. Have a good night everyone.

Oh Mel was there any damage from the mini tornado.
Vera hope you managed to get through to DWP so annoying to have to keep holding on in a queue.
I had a good morning I stripped the bed and got the bedding washed and on the line just before lunch so that soon got dry in the strong wind ,I made parsnip soup for lunch, hoovered and dusted the bedrooms and hoovered the stairs so a good morning .
Ann did OH manage to get his books sorry biros :-D :-D
Petrol stations all sold out here again today plus there was a power cut the other side of town and that put the traffic lights out so that didn't help with all the traffic queues going to Tesco for petrol.

:-D :-D :-D Mandy. Paint on upside down - whatever next!
On and off showers this morning, but the showers are really heavy. It’s as though someone’s pulled the plug in heaven. It’s also very windy. I won’t be doing anything outside today.
I’ve done some washing but apart from that I haven’t managed anything else as I’ve been having a frustrating time trying to get through to the DWP. After going through about three lots of menu options you join the queue. Then every 10 seconds or so you get a recording saying “Thank you for waiting. Please hold on or you might like to try later. You can also go to our website..blah, blah, blah”. After half an hour of this I am at screaming pitch. I am just having a little break, then I will try one last time. If I am unsuccessful I’ll have to write to them again, but that will be another delay. I haven’t been able to access my state pension since July because the DWP keep paying it into the wrong account. We are OK because we have other money but if I was reliant on my state pension I would be destitute by now :-|
Rant over. Better go and have one more try.

Morning Anng, morning all,
Bit blowy here this morning and it's just started to rain .
Mel those fairy hammocks look so pretty and the fish ,are they all your baby ones ? OH has really gone to work on the lawn hasn't he.
Oh Ann not the works lol is more biro his code word for books :-D I love looking at all the Christmas bits they now have in and could spend a fortune in there especially if I have the girls with me .
I made a couple of fabric christmas trees yesterday ones like I made before with the beads sown down the sides if I get time today I might have a go at these others I want to try making, I've cut out one star but need to stitch that up to see the finished size and then I'll know what size to make the others . Colin is going to start on the walls so I'll just be the gofer for him as painting is not my thing ,knowing me I'd get the paint on upside down :-D

That was a good saving then Ann. Strange I thought supermarkets only did that when they were struggling, I can't think they are at the moment, although maybe the empty shelves send people out to other shops not make them look for alternatives.
good morning all. showery here but seems to only be rain in the wind, not enough to revive the garden. I think it is saving that for tomorrow when I have to walk to the dentist, Not worth taking the car if it is raining as I would still get wet walking from where it has to park. But mainly because I never drive after having the injections because they make me feel 'spaced out'.
For the second time in 6 months I have to throw out a sheet because it has split, material rotten. This time a fitted sheet last time a flat sheet. I always try and rotate the fitted sheets but this one has gone right where I lay under my upper back/side. Another one for cat rescue to use as rags.
Nothing planned for today so wait and see what occurs.

I also got a £10 voucher code on the Asda home page you could use on line if you spent £60 as well, so I used it on this food shop.

Your fish are beautiful Mel and look so well too. I find fish very restful to watch and miss my tropical tank I had years ago. Oh it looks as if your OH was making silage!! lol :-0 I love the fairy hammocks you captured a picture of and that is an unusual moth. Might it be a Plume Moth do you think? I just looked it up and it looks a bit like one.
My second sedum looks more like a plant, but it wasn't very well wrapped, just newspaper in a big polythene bag loosely around it, then placed in a box it could slide around in and nothing to indicate it was fragile on the outside. I think I will put that in a pot over winter and can decide it's position in the garden next spring.
The food arrived near the end of our slot today, so I missed Terry the piano player. He seems to be nearly better now after 5 weeks of Covid, 2 of them spent in bed, and double jabbed. Our arms feel better today after our jabs, just feel hotter where they were done. OH had a migraine last night, a rare one where just as the light squiggles fade away to the opposite side of his vision, more start up again. Apart from the usual tiredness afterwards he's been fine today, catching up with some work and watching footie inbetween.
Off to bed now as we need to be up early if I want to get to another small garden centre for when they open. This one has The Works and OH needs some biros and I want something to go with my Violas. I hope we all sleep well.
PS. Have you tried the Asda slow roasted lamb shoulder Mel? I have put it on my next order to try.

Afternoon All,
Sunny and bright here and just waiting for the food drop.
Nice to see you posting Frank and I hope your carvery is nice. We just had ours! Sorry you have pain and maybe it would be worth speaking to the doc. It sounds like you have some good book supplies to keep you reading.
My favourite Biology teacher has passed away at home in Huddersfield at age 93. She was only 4ft 8 inches tall, but many at school found her scary as she kept up standards and rules! She always wore tweed suits and laceup shoes and always had her white Lab coat on when she was teaching. She had quite a deep voice which I would imitate quite well......... enough to bring girls out of the toilets quickly if I stood outside the toilets and said 'Come along now girls!'. She stood no nonsense from any mouthiness or excuses from girls, but was a brilliant teacher, kind and fair with a dry sense of humour. I always came top in biology and found it easy, but she was known to be strict and took no prisoners. One old girl on the FB school site said her parents at one parents' evening asked her if she thought their daughter would pass her 'O' level in the subject and she said 'ALL my girls pass their 'O' level!!!!! One old girl said when she was aged 88 she drove from Huddersfield to Leicester to a fellow old teacher's birthday do. I was fascinated by genetics at school and she recommended a book I still have. RIP Miss Hill! <3
I can hardly believe it but there are NO subs on my food order this time!!
We've had trouble with the internet going down all morning but it seems to be ok now. I will post this now anyway in case it doesn't work!

Frank has the screen minimised? If that is the case click the square in between the - and x signs in the top right hand corner and see if that enlarges it.
Sorry you still have pain, hope it didn't spoil your holiday. How did you cope with the flying and wearing masks?

Morning all, I can't read your posts as only a quarter of the page is showing, and I don't know how to alter it.
We are both well, and are going out to lunch at 2.30 to the local Calvary It will save us preparing and cooking.
I am still suffering with my back and right leg. I might ring the Dr. tomorrow, but I don't think there is anything they can do.
I have been reading quite a bit. DAVID BALDACCI. When I am finished with a book,I pass it onto a friend in the village, and I think he pass's them on to others. We do have a book store in the BUS SHELTER outside the pub, I saw yesterday that there are shelves full of all different types of reading. So no shortage for when I run out of reading matter.
Harvey and Julia are down in Cornwall visiting Lara for the weekend. Simon is in Great Yarmouth at his seaside home.
I trust you are all well, I see we might be in for some rain later today. We do need some.
Take care all, see you later. xxxx

Morning girls and all,
We have a nice bright sunny morning here with blue sky and white clouds which makes a welcome change from the grey we have had over the last week. I hope it stays that way today and dos'nt turn cloudy and dreary. It dos'nt lift the spirits at all wehn its ike that.
I need another spider suck up as they are watching me wherever I am at the mo. They have all decided its warmer in here than outside so have moved in. The rotters......
I have also had a cute little moth in my little loo. Its was in there for a week keeping me company when I went in there and it disappeared yesterday. It had skinny wings that stuck out sideways like a dragonfly. I did take a pic of it so I will try and find time to send some today.

Good morning AnnG and all
It’s not too cold but it’s very grey and overcast here. I’m going to change the bedding and cook a roast beef dinner but otherwise I don’t have any plans for the day. I might do a bit in the garden. It’s going to be a “take it as it comes” day :-)
