Afternoon all

Dull day here but dry I have two bath sheets out on the line but there's not much blow out to get them dry.

Oh it is a day for memories my mum died today in 2002 and I think it was round about this time last year that Frank lost his sister .

Mel they look fine girls you have there and all those lovely butterflies in your Michaelmas daisies I've never seen so many on one plant .

Ann your Michaelmas daisies are pretty I like those double ones

Oh dear Vera a other bad night see I don't know how you manage to last the day with such disturbing nights I know I would be so tetchy without sleep ,hope tonight's a better night for you and your ribs soon feel better.

Gwyn nice to get some sea air we haven't been to the coast for ages ,I like going when the sea is rough watching the waves and tasting the salt on your lips from the spray..

Anng enjoy your day out ,what or where is the Three Shires.

Island hope the old sciatica is easing a bit for you and you havenhad anymore window knocking .

Might do some crafting now I have given up with trying to make those stars for a tree and I've made some trees like I made once before with little beads sown down the edge.
I have seen something else I'd like to make but I need felt and haven't got any so can't do that till I get some so I'll have to have a go at something else .

Morning evryone,

Sorry to say I slept like a log again last night but got up twice for the loo and alseep again after. Oh got up at 7am and then came back to bed. The last time I got up just before 7am looked out the window to see a deer inthe back field.

Not a good day for me today its the day mum died.

Sorry you didn’t sleep well either AnnG. We could have had a party :-). I eventually slept for a couple of hours from 6 to 8 am. OH had a really good night and has only just got up. Enjoy your trip out with your friends. What is 3 Shires?

Gwyn I have 5 grandchildren aged between 15 and 24. We’re lucky enough to have a good relationship with them and they’ve been a great blessing in our lives. We don’t see as much of them as we used to when they were younger but we are still very close. I also have 2 step grandchildren, now aged 27 and 30. Our relationship with them is different because we didn’t know them as young children. They only came into our lives 10 or 11 years ago but we get on very well with them. They have sort of come along as a bonus if that makes sense.

It’s a very grey sort of day and so far it’s a bit chilly but it’s forecast to stay dry so hopefully I’ll get outside later.

Good morning all,

Looks like we might have another pleasant day.
Maybe the garden rubbish will have settled down into the bin a bit and I will have room to add a little more before tomorrow morning's collection.?
I'm so behind, as we were so long without any collection, while they prioritised our household rubbish and recycling... such a busy time for that to happen.

AnnG, our last car was a hybrid like that.... a Prius and OH was very happy with it. After he died, I sold it though, because I don't drive and our children all had cars already.

We are not too far from the coast, just a short car journey away. Most of my life I've lived fairly near the sea, although I did work for a while in Birmingham and in the 80s, OH's job meant we lived in Germany for a year.
I find it very calming to walk by the coast. Yesterday was a significent date in the family and as it was a weekend, the children all met up and we walked together, which was lovely. We were near Folkestone.

I love the natural beaches of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast in South Wales. I haven't been there since before lockdown, but yearn to go again and rekindle the happy days of carefree childhood holidays, when we went to visit relatives nearby.

Vera,
You are entitled to be biased ;-)
I'm sure you will be thrilled to have a recent photograph of your grandaughter.

I only have one grandchild, but he is a joy.

Well I wasn't when you wrote that Vera...... Sleeping well. I woke around 0430 and then just could not get back to sleep. Still I had had about 4 -5 hours sleep so better than you. I should have come on here for a chat.

good morning everyone still a light grey sky day here, hope it clears like it did yesterday.

I thought Strictly was really good last night, so many of them had upped their performance. Still one or two not doing that well but hard to remember it was only the 3rd week. I loved Rose's dance and that lovely smile on her face. Quite liked Tilly's as well, difficult to tell who will be in the dance off, it is such a popularity competition now and will be a bit political too with John and Johannes, although I think they were very good this week, very powerful because of their height and bearing

I am going to three Shires with Jean and Karen today so that makes a break for me, seems strange to be going out on a Sunday, that will confuse me for the rest of the week. And tomorrow I might be going to the Range with Cynth if she decides to go.

Ann yesterday I cut the lawn edges with shears which makes my bach ache a bit. I used the short handled shears as there was not much to do some of the edges had not really grown because of lack of rain. I do also sometimes strim them but the strimmer needs charging and I couldn't be bothered to wait.

Son in law;s car is part electric part petrol now but it doesn't have to be plugged in at all, when the electric power is used it re-charges from the engine (don't ask me for technical details but they definitely don't have to plug it in.

A very early good morning all

The good night I had yesterday is obviously my ration for now and I am back to square one tonight. I slept for about an hour when I first came to bed but have been awake since midnight. I got up a while ago and am now back in bed with a cup of tea and a magazine. Oh well, there are worse things in life than insomnia.

Apart from cooking our usual Sunday roast - loin of pork this week - I have no plans for the day. I think it will depend on how tired and heavy headed I feel. Ribs permitting, I’d like to do a bit more in the garden.

I hope you are all sleeping well and that you wake up feeling full of beans.

Evening All,

Sunshine all day here and OH went to a match 50 miles away and said he sweltered in the car again! As we were told no garage in the country has the car model he wants and it would have to be ordered and take months to delivery, he has decided to get the aircon fixed and hang on at least till after Christmas. He isn't interested in electric at the moment with the lack of charging points and them not being as visible as garages, but petrol and diesel are going to become worth little in a few years and who knows what the govt will do next to empty our pockets. :-S

I haven't done much other than draw my picture, then decide to use different paper so had to do it again. I did take my car out for a spin around some of the local countryside and was surprised at the new buildings (houses) that have sprung up. When OH got home he told me about some huge estates that have been built along the A5 since he last went as well. I did also get the food order done for tomorrow and just 2 things I wanted were out of stock, mackerel in olive oil for OH and my Nimble bread.

I like the new names Mel, Pansy and Tansy. At least there's no-one near enough to you to think you might be calling someone else 'Pansy' when you get them in. :-0 Did your pic of the mist not turn out? I know my photos often don't pick up what the eye sees.

Ouch Vera, is it like bad stitch and hurts at every move? I have done that with bending across in the garden. Rest is the only way so I hope it soon feels better. I'm glad you got a better night's sleep, even if the naked man appeared and disturbed you! :-)

You do get lots done AnnG and put me to shame. Do you strim the lawn edges or clip them? It is a horrid job as you say. Good though that you had no subs on your food order. Mine comes tomorrow afternoon.

Gwyn, it has been a lovely day for a walk, especially along the seafront. Are you within walking distance or is it a short trip in the car to get there? I love the sea and that fresh air.

Bed for me now and to watch Strictly. Hope everone gets a good night and that Gill and Frank are ok.

Thank you Gwyn. I'll be fine in a day or two. OH decided to take a little walk this afternoon so I went with him. He is walking better but it is still slow going which I find difficult but it was nice to get some fresh air.

Thanks for the photos Mel. Tansy and Pansy are a handsome pair and look as though they are settling in. I can't believe the number of red admirals on your Michaelmas daisies. I haven't seen that many in our garden all summer.

Dil has emailed me a school photo of our youngest granddaughter, now 15. I know I am a bit biased but I think my baby granddaughter has grown into a lovely young woman :-) OH should be able to print it out as a photo for me.

Vera
I hope your ribs are soon better.
Have a rest from anything that exerts you too much.
When the sun shines though, it makes us all want to be up 'doing'. but sometimes we can help ourselves best by taking it easy for a day or so.

It's been a lovely warm day today and we went for a family walk along the seafront. It was a little hazy, so we couldn't see France today, but it was great to see people out enjoying this bonus good weather after last week's rain and wind.

Vera so easy to strain things without realising isn't it. Hope it soon wears off. Beautiful sun here and 17 degrees. The Tesco drop was not as early as usual, although was well within the time slot, but it did mean nit starting to do anything in case he arrived. Anyway, no subs and nothing missing, that included 2 toys for presents and postage stamps.I did a load of washing so that is out the way, walked down to the post box and took a couple of books for the stall which was open today so got a couple more books, she only opens once a month now and there were loads of different books. and just trimmed the edges of the lawn and cut back a few very large hardy Fuchsia branches. There are other bits needing doing but I just couldn't get going, no enthusiasm. While waiting for Tesco I made a card.

Mel Tansy and Pansy look bright enough don't they. Wonder how long before they start to lay. Thanks for the photos

Sun’s out here now and it's warming up nicely. I’ve hoovered right through the house and I ought to get out into the garden now but my ribs are hurting on one side and I don’t want to make them worse. I think I strained something moving the heavy furniture around yesterday. I think I might go and do a couple of things on the computer. I haven’t even got to prepare any food as OH is going to have a pizza which he will sort out himself and I’ll do myself something with eggs when I feel like it, so my time’s my own.

I like the new girls’ names Mel :-)

Suns out here and its 15 degrees.

The youngsters are out with the others and having a dust bath in the hole I dug.

I think they are going to be Tansy and Pansy.

Morning Anng, Vera and all,

We have a heavy mist thismorning and it 10 degrees but the sun is trying to shine so perhaps it will burnt the mist away later on. When I look out over the wall this morning it is just like Ann's painting as the trees inthe distance are all in the mist. I'll see if it comes out in a pic.

I have the shop to do this morning then the rest opf the day is mine to do what I like in.

Morning AnnG and all

Very foggy here at the moment. It is supposed to brighten up later but I don’t think it will be as warm as yesterday. It’s only about 8 degrees so far.

I had a better night and was in a lovely sleep at 6.30 am when I became aware something was not right. I lifted my head and silhouetted in the doorway was a naked man! He then mumbled “Did you call me?” OH must have been dreaming. I don’t think he was properly awake then as he looked very vague. Needless to say, he went back to bed and straight to sleep again. I lay there for half an hour and then got up. It seems everything is conspiring against me sleeping.

I’ve no real plans for the day but I expect I will keep busy.

Good morning all, looks like another horrible grey day. I will need to get out into the garden and clear some more though and the lawn edges need trimming, not mt favourite job I must admit. But first there is the Tesco order. Wonder how much is unavailable this morning. It was all there last night.

Yes most of the neighbpurs are friendly in our little close. We have new people in one of the houses and since they moved in a week ago we haven't seen anything of them, not seen them go out or anything, even the girl who lives next door, other than the three days they were moving in no movement except to pull the blinds in the bedrooms down at night. At least there has been no sign of children. I assume they are spending all their time unpacking.

Vera at least you got a lot done despite not having much sleep.

Ann yes it was good to charge up the battery. I seem to have been lucky so far with the work in the garden, I am always expecting to be stiff the day after using the lopper because it is so heavy on my shoulders, but I seem to be ok with it.
