Lovely pics Mel. George looks a happy little fellow and a bit of a scamp. It’s such a shame Jane never got to see him. I bet Chris and James spoil him.

I see you had a restless night as well AnnG. I hope you don’t feel too tired today. I know it’s a difficult time for you. You’ve had a roller-coaster of a year and have adjusted and coped so well. You should be proud of yourself.

I hope that pain is easing up at last Ann. Seems you had a grumpy Asda driver and fancy not sending you a sub for your milk. I would have thought milk was a staple. Some of my friends have Asda and they are always moaning. I alternate Tesco and Sainsbury and they are both fine. Their drivers pile the crates up on our doorstep and then ring the bell and stand back. We transfer the stuff to our own bags and boxes and step away from the door and the driver then takes his crates away. They always seem to be cheerful and courteous. Tesco are particularly good with subs as you can put a note about what’s acceptable.

Good luck with the bank Island. Put a smile on your face, think positive thoughts, keep everything crossed and pick up that phone. You never know, you might get straight through to the person/department you want and get everything sorted with no hassle. Yeah, and pigs might fly.

I changed bedding and did 3 loads of washing this morning. When the first load was ready I checked the forecast and it said sunny spells and light winds so I put the line up but as I was doing it I could feel the rain in the air. There was no sun and not a breath of air so I took the line down again and I’m drying everything indoors. Three hours later the sun has just come out.

Just heard the kettle go on which means OH is getting our lunchtime snack. That’s his job but I do suggest from time to time that I do it so I can get a bit of variety. He’s not good at looking beyond the end of his nose so I usually get pate with pickle and rocket in a sandwich or occasionally Boursin in a sandwich. It never crosses his mind to do soup or a pasty of some sort or something on toast. Still, I mustn’t complain. At least he gets lunch even if it is the same boring thing :-D

I have dusted and polished downstairs and cleaned the leather suite, it is cream and, unfortunately this year when it was very hot and clothes got damp with the hunidity I had some blue trousers on and the die has transferred to my chair. Not bright but enough for me to see it. Still the suite is getting on now, it has been really good so I can't complain.

I have also dusted my bedroom and what surfaces are clear in this craft room.

before I did the dusting I cut down the main buddleia near the house to its winter height so the bin is almost full again.
No point in dusting the spare room at the moment as it has Christmas presents and paper etc strewn around.

Glad that you have got some admin jobs done Island, tick them off the list.

Ann I got my Cravendale from Tesco yesterday so it must be Asda didn't order enough but when it has been out of stock Tesco subbed with ordinary. (I have skimmed)

I am expecting my friendly garage man to pick up the car to take and sell it for me but not sure when he is coming so I can't go far.

Awake again at 5.30am Island but thankfully medium pain if you know what I mean! The doc still thinks it might be appendicitis, so more bloods and a scan next. :-S They have a walk in clinic some days for bloods but gave me an appointment on 18th November. I'm ringing later to see why I can't do a 'walk in ' one sooner than that. I hope your new meds work well and good luck with your phonebank! I haven't tried it with my new bank yet.

Good luck with your flu jabs tomorrow Mel. It will be good to get them done and more protection. OH's booster is later this week. As they are doing them at our surgery now he wonders why he has to go back to the racecourse again.

Not an easy week for you then AnnG with those memories on your mind.

Morning all

Meds phone call booked. bloods booked, started new meds. check check check.
What a busy morning!
Phone bank :-\ putting that one off because we all know what a pain those calls can be don't we :-| I think I'll do something nice first to give me a raison d'etre.

Thanks for the pics Mel. What a dear little fellow, Jane would have been in her element. No pic of Jane?

How's your pain today Annx? Easier or gone I hope.

It's cold enough outside for fridge stuff now as a temporary overflow if there's a spot out of the sun. We might have to switch to Asda if they do big subs! They also - or used to - do a good vegetarian range.

Morning All,

Thanks for forwarding the pics Mel. The one of Jane and Hannah as a little girl was particularly lovely wasn't it. Little George isn't little anymore is he and looks such a happy little soul, full of fun.

I got no milk with my Asda order yesterday Mel. I like the Cravendale as it lasts longer and they said it was out of stock. Why I didn't get a sub instead I don't know. The driver came and dumped our stuff and left without even ringing the doorbell or knocking at the door, so it was a good job we saw him come or the frozen food would have melted. I've noticed they send big packs as subs at times and they don't consider what room you have in fridges and freezers. They just try to match the price I think.

Mornin gAnng and all,

Glad it worked the second time for you. It was lovely to see a young Jane and Hannah on the beach and it brought a tear to me eye.

Cloudy this morning but there dos'nt seem to be a breath of air out there. pc says 10 degrees and cloudy so not much hope for a better day later on.

We both have our flu jabs tomorrow afternoon so that will be one out of the way.

Must clear the fridge out today ready fpor the shopping tomorrow. I don't seem to have used much this week so it still stuffed full. I dos'nt help with them sending me a HUGE pack of flora. I have save a tube thats smaller to put it in and now I have used about half that will help. Asda seem to send everything in 1kg instead of 500gms.

Well now it is a normal time, good morning. I did go back to sleep eventually and woke at 0730. Realised this morning that a year ago was when T was in hospital for the first time after falling. he actually came home on the 10th and went back in for the last time on the 12th. So not good memories of this week It is 4 degrees out there, no frost but chilly doesn't seem to be any wind at the moment. Nothing planned for today. I have been on the pc a lot lately trawling for christmas gifts and writing a Christmas letter to pop into cards etc so I really need to stay off it a bit today as my eyes are a bit sore from eye strain. I also need to make an opticians appointment soon.

Thanks Mel. woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so came in and looked at the PC.

It worked that time. what a lovely little boy, wouldn't Jane just adore him. He is obviously already walking and not yet a year old. couldn't you just give him a cuddle? He looks contented too. Love the two photos taken in Wembury, Jane was a beautiful little girl too.
Better get back to bed now.

Has anyone else still got those tiny fruit flies, I just can’t get rid of them, horrid little things they don’t react like larger flies, can’t bat them away they just land on food as I am eating or drinking.

I saw him interviewed on TV some while ago. He’s an interesting character who’s turned his life around. Google the speedomick foundation.

I had a long chat with daughter which was lovely.

I am sorry you are still in so much pain Ann. I do hope you manage to get to the doctor and that he can help you.

Just had our dinner. Lamb shanks and lots of veg today.

No chance of us seeing Speedo Mick as we can't see any roads from the house only the back road to Black Torrington and then only the top of lorries or tractors. Good luck to him I say and I hope he raises a lot for charity.

That is Tesco delivered and put away. I had a bad night last night one of those wake up every hour ones, no idea why but I am tired this morning. good job there is no gardening to do. As I have decided to get rid of the car, I decided I had better clear out the rubbish that had collected in it. filled a carrier bag which I sorted out indoors. quite a lot went in the bin needless to say.

Annx Report 7 Nov 2021 11:14

Morning All,

The sun is out so it's more cheerful this morning. I had a restless night waking a few times and then when I got out for the loo this morning, the awful pain started up. I couldn't even have got to the car let alone the surgery so I hope I can tomorrow when I need to go. It's slowly simmered down a lot since, but OH is cancelling his 2 meetings tomorrow and is doing the wipe down this afternoon. I think I will just be watching my classes this week if that!

Appointments sound a good arrangement Vera. The times I have just sat down to eat lunch when someone rings and OH's footie pal rings first thing in the morning, often before we are even up.

I think you are right AnnG and Island about the dull, dark days lately not helping and the fact our lives are not back to how they were. I know even if OH was out in the evening, I would do things at times like pop down to the retail park for a browse. There's plenty needs doing here but I just don't seem to have much enthusiasm this year.

Island I opened a few deliveries this morning and in one was my French Climbing beans for next year so I'm all set now!! :-D Not seen Speedo Mick, but aren't out much yet. I think I would have noticed him though! lol.

Island

Island Report 7 Nov 2021 10:36

Morning all

we have some weak sunshine - shhhh.

I wonder if the lack of normal life has made us notice the dark evenings more?
I felt sure it was about 6pm a couple of days ago, looked at the clock and it was a few minutes to 4! :-0

Vera, I make appointments to phone my brother but only because we like to have an hours worth. With having other means of contact I thought everybody did that?

Has anyone seen Speedo Mick stomping through their neck of the woods? He's on a 2500 hike for charity - wearing just a pair of speedos. What a hero!
I'd put a thread up but........

Morning everyone

It’s the same here Mel, 10 degrees with the occasional gleam of sun.

Yes, I think we all agree about the nights drawing in. It does seem to have happened suddenly this year.

I hope you had a better night Ann.

I have no plans for today apart from ringing my daughter. I have an appointment for that this morning lol. She leads a very busy life and seldom has her answering machine on and we always seemed to miss each other so 3 or 4 years ago we started texting each other on the lines of “Will you be in tomorrow for a chat?”. My friends think it’s hilarious that we make appointments to talk but it works for us.
