Ann I will send it to you tomorrow.

Have got soemthing up my gum on one of my teeth and its very sore so oh gave me a Christmas present tonight which is a bottle of Jamesons whiskey which ususally does the trick as I only had a trickle in the bottom of last years one.

See you all in the morning night night.

Morning, sorry Afternoon All,

Belated 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' Gill. I was busy yesterday and didn't come on here. It's lovely to hear from you, even if progress is slow with those unreliable workmen. I do hope you get your new back door fitted to keep out the draughts this winter. What a let down about your loft too. It isn't as if it was a hard job either. Never mind, just keep trying and do what you can in the meantime. It will all get done eventually and you have made great strides with the garden. My first OH estimated 2 years to do my old house and I said about 5 years. Guess who was right! We were both working full time though and did pretty much everything ourselves apart from the central heating. We made our windows, built the garage and garage doors and all the built in kitchen and bathroom units, plus wardrobes. You couldn't buy the self assemble units in the 70s. You can't help these delays and until one job is done you can't get workmen in to do the next job.

That's good you have some tablets now AnnG. I hate driving when the sun blinds you like that. When OH was working in Luton, the daily trip meant he was blinded by the sun all the way there on days it was shining. Our surgery never asks to see us when a prescription review is due, They just seem to extend the date. I suppose it must depend what medication you are on. I remember being called for BP checks when I was on HRT. It will be good to get your vibrating alarm put in. Our smoke alarm is so loud when it goes off there's no chance of not hearing it as it is just outside the bedrooms.

OH has another meeting on zoom tonight, due to some going down with covid and spreading it to others. People are so silly though. The meetings he goes to even have outside doors as well as windows open and tables spaced well apart, but he has noticed some female attendees drag their chairs to sit next to each other! :-S

A recent study now says that the 2 metre distance, even outside, is useless without wearing masks.

When we went to the factory shop yesterday all the joggers in OH's size had been sold, so he'll have to hope they get more in soon. I got some new slippers for ÂŁ12 and some fat balls and seed for the birds.

OH's trip to the hygeinist was useful as she told him of a private practice that are the top in the city and would be able to advise him whether a dentist could do his tooth expraction.

I now have 2 paintings to do before next week's last Landscape session, one is to use our own photo of a snowy scene, so I need to have a look at what I have. The other teacher wants us to use 3 different citrus fruits on Monday and I only have oranges, so may have to print off some pictures to use instead if we don't visit the farm shop in the meantime.

OH has decided he wants a new watch for christmas, one with 'hands' instead of digital like his other this time. He's also decided he really needs a new laptop now and has decided he wants one like mine, which of course they have stopped making now!! Another job for me to find an equivalent one for him. :-S

I would like your cake recipe please Mel. :-D I have done the Delia one in the past and although I'm not keen on too much, OH loves it, usually after Christmas when he's eaten most other things! :-)

This virus is going to be never ending....hopefully a vaccine can be developed.

British experts have sounded the alarm over a new Covid variant believed to have emerged in Botswana that is the most mutated version of the virus yet.

Only 10 cases of the strain, which could be named 'Nu', have been detected so far.

But it has already been spotted in three countries, suggesting the variant is likely more widespread.

It carries 32 mutations, many of which suggest it is highly transmissible and vaccine-resistant, and has more alterations to its spike protein than any other variant. :-(

Back now. got a prescription for two months supply but they have not re-started the Pathway so it looks as though I have to try and make an appointment for a prescription review.

It is lovely out but still only one degree so very cold. However the sun is shining brightly, which although lovely to see is not lovely if you are walking ino it as it is so low it dazzles. I was afraid of tripping as I could not actually see where I was going. so am pleased to be back home.

Gosh Gill it seems never ending. Why is that room damp are you able to do something to stop that? I hope they turn up to change your back Dior as it is forecast to turn cold this weekend. Sounds like the garden is progressing well anyway.

Gillx Report 24 Nov 2021 18:48

Hi all

Thanks for the birthday wishes and cards, sorry i didn't come on here yesterday but I've not been very well after having my Covid Booster on Sunday, I'm feeling a bit better today but still have a sore throat and headache. OH thinks I've caught his bug as he had a sore throat for a few days, I hope not as I still have some work to do in the hall as that's not finished yet. I'm doing the coving at the moment but because I'm using filler it's taking me ages to do as I can only do a small amount at a time and then have to wait until it's set so I have something to work against as I go along.

We're having our new back door installed next Tuesday, so long as they don't ring to cancel or not bother to turn up at all. We're still having problems with workmen and today I received a call from the fella who was suppose to be boarding our loft saying he's to busy, but he's passed my number onto another builder. As luck would have it OH got some old wardrobes off his mate and used them as loft boards which he think will be enough for us to put most of the boxes in the loft, then we'll finally be able to sort out the living room and spare bedroom.

We've decided to swap those two rooms over as I noticed our things were going mouldy in the wardrobes as the spare bedroom is damp, so we thought it best to use it as a living room, that way we can keep the sofa away from the outside walls. The wardrobes should be okay in the other room so we can use them again. At the moment we've had to leave the wardrobe door open.

So as you can see we're still busy and OH is still sorting the front garden, he's taking everything out of it and is almost finished so it'll be ready to make into a nice garden in the spring. He's hoping to dig all the roots out from the plants we cut down in the back garden before the winter sets in too. All he needs is some good weather.

I hope everyone is keeping well and sorry again I didn't come on here yesterday.

SuffolkVera Report 24 Nov 2021 16:27

It was thick grey cloud and very cold all morning, since lunchtime it's been raining as well. I am definitely not a cold weather person. Brrr :-(

Those people were naughty walking on your property Mel but is there anything up to say it is private land? When we were in Scotland some years ago we walked along a metalled path with scrubland and trees on either side and were very embarrassed when we ended in someone's garden. There had been nothing to indicate that it was a private road or private land. Perhaps those people had the same problem.

It sounds as though your trip to town went well this morning AnnG. Did you buy much?

Your poor OH, Ann. He can't go on being shuffled between the dentist and the hospital with neither taking responsibility for treating him. That really isn't good enough. Is there a complaints procedure he could use as this has been going on far too long?

And now your son has gone down with Covid Mandy. I bet they are at screaming pitch by now. As soon as one of them is free of it, another one succumbs. Are Jake and Lewis still OK?

Our lunch out with our neighbours went better than I expected. As soon as we sat down she started on her favourite subject which is all to do with another neighbour's parking. I happen to disagree with her and have politely said so before so I said so again and quickly got her on to another subject and it was fine after that. It was a good job we got there early as we got the last available table and shortly after there were queues to enter the restaurant part. It was very busy throughout the garden centre but we all wore our masks except when eating and spent more time looking at plants outside then indoors so it was fine. I bought a new roll of fleece, a fold up shopping bag as one of the three secret santa presents I've got to buy and a lovely little cactus plant for my granddaughter who has got very into indoor plants over the last year or so.

In the evening our daughter rang and asked if we would like to spend Christmas at her house. There will only be her and granddaughter so, Covid rules at the time permitting, we will go to her on Christmas morning and come home late in the day on Boxing Day.

This morning we walked to our friends M & V for coffee and walked back. It's less than a mile each way but at least we got a bit of fresh air and stretched our legs. This afternoon I started on Christmas card writing but only got 6 done before my hand started shaking too much but it's a start and I'll just have to do a few each day. Now I'm just going to finish off the ironing and I think it's time the kettle went on again. Stay warm and enjoy what's left of the day.

Afternoon all,

Really dull here now with drizzle I did manage to get my shop done in the dry ,dropped some shopping off for dil as son has now tested positive so he's in for ten days .

Happy birthday Gill if your looking in , hope your enjoying your day and having a day off from the working on the bungalow.

Mel that was a bit cheeky of them walking through your grounds you'll have to put a sign out saying private property .

What a palaver your OH has had at the dentist Ann what would happen if the tooth was really aching that just badness being bounced from one to the other .
Those poor little boys losing both parents like that just awful.

Right I'm going to have a trawl through amazon now got to get going getting some presents sorted .

I assume it is not marked on any maps as a public footpath Mel. If they are not local how would they know they could get through that way,

Got back from town about 1.30pm, caught the 0950 bus in so a good shop. Not too busy and there seemed to be more people wearing masks in the street not just in the shops. It seemed to be mainly young men (20s/30s not wearing masks and not many of them. Of course come lunch break none of the teenagers were wearing masks but they tend not to be in the shops I go in. what is impressive is that I am sure I didn't see any young Mums with babies in buggies not wearing a mask.

Mixed up my Christmas cake and tidied round and fed the Chickens and the wild birds.

When I put my solar lights in the bedroom window today and looked across to the chicken run two people wlked across from our little wood with two dogs and out into the field and forest out the back. I banged on the window and they both looked over and waved!!!! Blimmin cheek they should'nt have been down our road to the garden anyway. Don't know who they were, Told oh and he went out with the digger and put a big gate across the hole in the fence which we use to go through to Ralph's field where the trees are. So they must have waklked all the way down our private road to get through the little wood and into Ralph's ground which runs right along the back of us.

It looks as though dad was a teacher at a college, maybe IT then. And it also seems the older man arrested has been released I think on bail or under investigation while they have an extension for the younger man. I did read they were father and son. What an awful thing to happen on such a nice housing estate. Parking arguments have been mentioned. And for the two little ones so sad, and for the family not long before Christmas too. How things changed for two families in an instant. On the news the cause of death for the woman was stab wounds it did give the number but I forget but quite a few.

Annx Report 23 Nov 2021 18:08

No it isn't fair is it AnnG. This should all have been done and dusted before Covid and delay could make any risks greater so it needs sorting now. It's ridiculous really as most of us have some degree of osteporosis by the ages we are, but have't been scanned to see, so a dentist wouldn't even know and they don't even ask do they. He never broke a bone or anything and has treatment for it and it was only found because I pressed him to ask the doc for a scan, as he had taken acid reflux medication for many years. I kept reading it could stop the absorbtion of calcium from your food and cause bone thinning. I meant to say those fold up steamers are a good idea and don't take up much space to store.

Well I've finished my coastal painting but it was too dark to take a clear photo so I'll do that in the morning now. Hopefully the teacher will see it before the afternoon class starts.

That's good you are all wiped down and also have the Mole Valley delivery Mel. Ohh are they surprise pressies for your OH? I am going to order OH a new dressing gown as one pressie I think as the one he wears is ancient now and not really warm enough. I must admit I love bread and butter with tomato soup. :-D

I was just reading about the 33 and 36 year old couple who were murdered and stabbed in their home in Somerset by 2 men aged 34 ad 67, one of whom was a neighbour. They had had a row earlier about parking spaces at their homes. Their 2 little boys aged 5 and 6 were asleep upstairs when it happened. How on earth do you tell 2 little boys that age they have lost both their mum and dad? Their dad worked in computing and their mum in customer services at a garden centre.
