Morning Anng and all,

Its raining here too but its 17 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy.

Shopping ccomes today and they always ring me or should I say text me at 7am.

Pc has changed its minds and now says 15 degrees thunderstorms and showers. Wish it would make up its mind.

Arm still hurts.................................

Good morning all 14 degrees here and........ It is raining :-) :-) :-) and must have been for some time as the patio is like a paddling pool. Hopefully it is soaking in and not bouncing off and also that it is filling the water barrel. No watering of the two gardens today anyway. Just hope it knows when to stop mow.

Vera hope the new colour is acceptable. And really hope that you can get the glasses situation sorted.

Looking at Mr M's latest post, I can see where a lot of my time in the past 20 years has been spent.
Mandy hope you got the ironing out of the way, so pleased I don't do ironing these days, only when really necessary. Luckily I can afford the use of the tumble drier and mine is so good I rarely need to iron.
Mel is your arm any better?

SuffolkVera Report 19 Jun 2023 15:05

We had a drop more rain during the night but not enough to even wet the ground. Today is hot and sticky.

OH decided he disliked the colour of the paint he'd bought as well. I think it looked even worse when it was dry. He went out and got a colour chart this morning and we picked out what we wanted and he went back and bought some more. The colour on the chart was OK but the colours don't always look the same when they are mixed up. It should be a sort of mahogany colour and I am hoping it doesn't come out too red looking.

I am still fighting to get my glasses sorted. At the moment I am waiting for a call back from the manager of the opticians but I don't think she is going to call. If I don't hear shortly I'll have to chase her up again.

I've been busy this morning. I did 3 loads of washing and got that on the line, then answered some emails and booked a self catering place for a week in September. I also made our main meal for lunchtime so we only need a quick snack tonight as we have a club meeting. It's one of our regular speakers tonight. He spends his life travelling and tonight he is going to be talking about Morocco.

AnnG, I can't believe your little one is 7 already. Where have those years gone? I hope she has a lovely day. It's obviously a good day for births as my eldest granddaughter and my step-grandson both have birthdays today.

AnninGlos Report 19 Jun 2023 12:39

Coffee morning went well, 6 of us so enough to have a good chat but not so many that people talked in small groups.

It is great granddaughter's seventh birthday today. Those years went so quickly, she will be a teenager in no time. Actually I think she is already one in her head. :-D

Mandy its not too bad at the mo but I am being careful with it.

Yes doing well on Ebay at the moment. One lady bought three lots from me and another has bought from me before and the single vase was bought by a man.

Morning all,

Nice sunny morning here, yesterday we had some light rain in the evening which has filled the water butts and we have an old plastic dustbin as an overflow butt and thats now filled to the top so it must have rained in the night to to fill them all up .

Sorry to read you have lost a dear friend Anng

Vera that was a nice little win you had and fancy OH winning and picking the wine :-D
Hope the paint has dried to a better colour ,it might grow on you after a while.

Mel your doing well with your ebay sales ,how's the arm today .

I need to get some ironing done ,there's quite a pile there as I'd been putting it off with it being so hot, as it's a bit cooler I'd better get it done.

AnninGlos Report 19 Jun 2023 06:53

Looking at the forecast last evening it showed a really large amount of rain had passed over this way. It didn't touch us so don't know who got our rain. We had a really really light shower, maybe just enough to dampen the ground.

good morning all. Gt Granddaughter is 7 today. Goodness those years went quickly.

Going to a friend's for coffee and cake this morning to celebrate her upcoming birthday tomorrow. (a special one). :-D

We’ve had a couple of showers this evening but it hasn’t amounted to much at all :-( I hoped we’d get the thundery downpours we were promised but no such luck. Tomorrow’s forecast is for hot and dry weather again so the poor garden is suffering a bit.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jun 2023 17:51

It started raining at lunchtime and it got a bit heavier but its sdteady and coming straight down with no wind and the garden is going to love it.

AnninGlos Report 18 Jun 2023 13:21

Annoying Vera when the colour is not like it says on the tin. Maybe it will dry to a better colour.

Yes it was very sad to hear about John's death but he was in pain so it is good that he is not any more.
Mel, there is is wife and two girls, one of whom has a husband and they both live near their Mum.

It is 25 degrees here now and cloudy sun and very close and PC says rain coming.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 18 Jun 2023 13:03

Oh, that is sad AnnG. Even when you expect it news like that is always upsetting.

It's very hot, sunny and heavy here. Depending on whether I look at the phone, iPad or PC the temperature is anywhere between 23 and 26 degrees and there is no sign of the promised rain, though the PC is telling me that rain is expected in 179 minutes. Not sure how it can be quite that exact but I'll believe in the rain when it comes.

OH bought a very small tin of some special weather protective paint to do a side gate and narrow fence panel. This small tin cost £30 and is supposed to be terracotta colour. OH has painted it this morning and I can only describe it as sludgy pink. It is horrible. OH said if I really hate it he will do it again but at £30 a small tin
it seems extravagant to do it again. I've said I'll try to get used to it but if I can't we'll redo it later in the year.

That is sad when we lose a long standing friend. Did have have family?

Its still only 16 degrees here with a bright cloudy sky but its quite comfortable out there.

Just done up three more little parcels to post tomorrow from Ebay sales.

AnninGlos Report 18 Jun 2023 10:24

Good morning all. It was sunny earlier but it is 19 degrees now and white cloudy but bright sky.

Father's day today brings memories of course.

I had sad but not unexpected news yesterday. Our great friend who T joined the RN with and who we spent many years either living next door, in the adjoining towns or visiting for long stays in the summer when we and the children were all young, died yesterday. He has been unwell for several years and had apparently got very frail. we last saw him in July 2019.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jun 2023 08:55

Morning all,

Quite bright here this morning and the temp by the pc is 16 degrees and mostly cloudy so a more comfortable day today then.

What a good idea about the pound in the bucket. I had never heard of that one before and shall have to tell Vron who does fund raISING FOR THE VILLAGE HALL. Sorry caught the cap lock with my little finger.

Wine and dosh can't be bad for an afternoon out and a nice surprise to see your eldest granddaughter too.

I watched a little solitary bee inthe garden over the last couple of days and took some pics. YOu would never believe where it has nested so I just had to take photos.

SuffolkVera Report 17 Jun 2023 21:49

Sorry to hear you've hurt your arm again Mel. It's so easy to move a bit awkwardly and start it all off again. I hope it improves quickly.

About 1.30 we had half a dozen large raindrops fall and that was all. We are supposed to get some thunderstorms tomorrow but we really need some nice steady rain to soak into the ground. It's getting a bit desperate round here now.

The coffee morning went well. It was very warm in the host's garden but she had put up a big gazebo and some other parasols and there was a bit of a breeze so it wasn't unpleasant. We each pay £2.50 for coffee and as much cake as you want to eat and all sat around chatting and laughing while having that. There wasn't much on the plant stall so they were glad of my contribution which was 26 pots of antirrhinums and a few buddleia plants which were all doing well and starting to show flower. I had to laugh at the raffle. There were several prizes that had been contributed and OH won one. I was sitting elsewhere in the garden and didn't see what he chose till we got home. He'd picked out the bottle of wine that I had donated, lol. We also did "Pound in the Bucket". In case you don't know about this I'll explain. Anyone who wants to take part hands over a £1 coin and their name is written on a little sticky tab and stuck to the coin. They are all put in a bucket and shaken up a bit and someone draws out a coin. The person whose name is on the coin gets half the proceeds of the bucket and the other half goes into club funds. 20 of us took part and my coin was picked out so I got £10 :-D

We got home soon after 1.30 pm, had a bit of lunch and then I spent the afternoon doing a few odd jobs and getting a Tesco order booked in for delivery on Tuesday. That took me quite a while and I got a bit fed up with trying to peer at the computer screen through dodgy glasses.

I just cooked egg and chips for our dinner tonight and then we had a lovely surprise. Our eldest granddaughter texted to ask if we were in as she was only a couple of minutes from us. She works for a company that does children's parties and found herself doing a party at a hall really near us. I think the party finished at 7 pm and she had to pack up all her equipment but got to us about 7.40. She only stayed an hour but we don't get a chance to see her very often so her visit made our day complete. The poor girl looked shattered. She lives in Essex and had left home at 8.30 to do a party in Kent from 11 am to 1 pm, then drove to Suffolk to do this late afternoon one. There's at least half an hour either side of the parties to set up and take down all the equipment, all the driving to and from parties and a lot of energy used to keep a large number of children entertained and occupied with games etc for 2 hours at each party so it's no wonder she was tired.

I'm rapidly losing energy now as well and I think I've been on the computer too long today as my eyes are feeling very sore now and the words are starting to look blurry. With luck it might be just a bit cooler tonight. I'm off now so night-night, sleep well everyone.

Why does my typing disappear? I had written a whole line and all that came up was an S.

Our shower did'nt do much just made the grass look wet and turned the light straw stuff to brown.

BIL turned up in the afternoon only to take some rubbish away but he did pressure wash the rest of the decking for me, bless him. He got bitten by a horse fly too.

Mandy all the roses are out at the moment and when we get rain they don't like it.

Oh no Mel your poor arm and it was beginning to feel a bit easier too.
Was that chap making money on what was your trailer, so long as you got whst you wanted for it and he hasn't ripped you off .

Well that rain we had hardly wet the ground ,so much for thinking we might not have to water tonight oh well, hopefully we'll get a bit tomorrow ,it will probably drop down and flatten the plants though when we do get some.

Got back from there and the bee man called and asked about my band saw. He told me he was after a trailer and had been to see a chap in Bideford who wanted £1,200 for the trailer he bought off me!!!! but he told him that I had a band saw I may want to sell.
