good morning all. 13 degrees here so not that cool really although weather forecasts are a bit on the low side compared to what we have had. Looks like the temperature on the IOW next week will be no higher than 19/20. Still for once I will be hoping for it not to rain but cooler is ok. I had the duvet pulled back up last night and slept quite well. Was a bit concerned at the high winds forecast for the weekend so not really looking forward to the ferry trip across. I thought it was just me and maybe daughter as she is not a good passenger traveller but SiL apparently is not good with 'boats'.

Vera you said you had not achieved much but then you note you had cleared a lot of little jobs so presumably over all you did a lot. Nice to meet with friends and I am pleased you enjoyed your lunch.

Daughter did fix the bolt on the shed door for me yesterday so that was a good job done. I didn't have a long list for her this time. Having bought a new bolt for that door, we went out to the garage to charge up the screwdriver and found two other bolts out there. And then she used the old bolt re-positioned anyway. So I now have three spare bolts. I should have known there was one out there somewhere.

Not a good shopping experience at Aldi then Mandy. I suppose they are trying to make sure the stuff is kept fresh but it sounds as though it hasn't been thought through very carefully. I can understand why you are a bit peeved. I rarely shop at our Aldi because it has such a tiny car park straight off a main road that if you are unlucky you can find the car park full so you can't go in but you can't easily get back out on to the main road.

I'm surprised the doctor couldn't tell you last week that you had damaged a nerve Mel but at least you know now what the problem is. Try and do the exercises the physio gave you but do them gently and be careful using the arm. You don't want to aggravate it.

At last we have had rain. It was showers rather than constant rain but at least it was raining on and off from around midnight last night to midday today and the soil got a bit of a soaking. It's been dry and sunny all afternoon so pots are already drying out again.

I don't seem to have achieved very much the last couple of days. Yesterday we went out with our neighbours and didn't get back indoors till nearly 6. After we came back from our lunch together they asked us in for a cup of tea and the time just flew. It was a really pleasant few hours. We don't always see eye to eye and sometimes I feel I am treading on eggshells with them but it wasn't like that yesterday.

Today we had our usual Thursday coffee with friends. We meet around 11 am and anyone who's free and fancies a chat turns up. This week there were only 5 of us, last week there were 9. This afternoon I've been catching up on all sorts of silly little jobs that aren't urgent but have been hanging around waiting to be done.

It's not as hot as it has been but it's still quite warm for sleeping as it's still 19 degrees and a bit muggy. Oh well, here's hoping for a good night's rest for all of us. Sweet dreams everyone.

I guess shopping in Aldi is "off" now Mandy?

Morning all,
Been shopping and just calming down ,our aldi has been shut for nearly a week and they have changed it all round but the thing that really annoyed me was all fruit , salad stuff, cheeses cooked meat ,fresh meat are all now behind glass doors so everytime you want something you have to open a door and trying to see what is behind the door before you open it with the lights glaring on it is not very good ,plus you have to get hold of the handles that the world and his wife have just touched ,ohhhhhhh it just riled me , oh and if your a bit on ths short side no way would you reached the top shelf behind the doors

Suns out and its very muggy but we did have rain in the early hours and first thing so that watered the garden well.

It has gone up to 18 degrees now but it felt a lot fresher when I went out to check the tomato plants. It obviously rained in the night thank goodness.

Morning all,

15 degrees here and clody. It was a beautiful morning when I got up for the loo at 6. 52am and we had as pink sky last night so I thought it may have been a nice day today. We will see a bit later on I suppose.

Enjoy your garden centre visit Anng.

I remembered it was dustbin day today so got it out last night and did'nt put it in the long grass so they can see the bag.

good morning all 14 degrees here. We had a couple of showers yesterday evening but nothing much. I was hoping it would have rained overnight.
Going to a larger garden centre this morning with daughter and SiL.

He told me some exercises to do with turning my head and looking up and down and he felt around my arm etc and asked if I had pins and needles at all same as the doc last week and I did have them this week for a short while.

Mandy did you get the picture for your tree?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Jun 2023 18:49

When I did my family tree I found a great grandaunt Catherine Cudden buried in Ryde cemetery in 1887 on the isle of Wight she was only 46 ,someone had a photo of her in their tree so it was nice to put a face to the name ,I found a funeral report too .

Mel it sounds like it might take a while to heal so you'll need to be very careful what your doing so you don't aggravate it ,that was a quick appointment.

Just done the watering and it was spitting with rain ,we had a few spits this morning too ,tomorrow we should have rain during the day and I need to ho shopping so i might get wet .

I suppose he did actually tell you what was causing it but don't you wonder why all the bother of going there. surely the GP could do that.

Vera Saturday. Daughter and SiL are here now and it is raining, not a lot but at least enough to freshen things up.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jun 2023 14:22

Back home out by 2.03pm went in at 1.43m. Hows that for a swift appointment?

He only felt around my shoulder neck and back told me to look this way and that and up and down, asked me where it hurt and told me I have damaged the nerve in my neck and its going to take a while to heal.

I think I would have had a decent night last night but we had quite a full meal yesterday evening and when I went to bed I had acid reflux. I only get it very occasionally but it gets worse if I lay down so I sit up till it eases. At least it was a bit cooler last night.

Today is cloudy but muggy. I don’t seem to have done much this morning except shower and wash my hair. Now we are going out to lunch with our next door neighbour. We’re only going to a fish place locally. I’m not a great fan of fried fish and chips but they do other stuff. I generally have grilled salmon fillet with mixed roast veg which is very tasty.

When do you actually go to I of W AnnG? If it’s tomorrow, have a safe journey. We like the I of W. One of our granddaughters has got a 6 week holiday job lined up there for the summer.

I’d better now go and tidy myself up before the neighbours come knocking. Might bbl.

good morning all, chasing my tail to get the house in order before daughter and son in law arrive with all their stuff to fill up empty spaces :-D

One small wash load in and down and upstairs floors done and spare room dusted for them. Can't dust mine it is full with all my packing stuff.
Also cleaned the conservatory floor, this time of year it is more like a work room for the garden.

Mandy Isle of Wight near Ryde on the Bembridge side.

21 degrees here and cloudy bright and very humid but also windy.

Morning all,

Cloudy here and its very muggy ,I didn't sleep very well last night ,took ages to drop off and woke several times .

Mel hope you get on OK today with your physio and it doesn't leave you stiff like last time .

Anng you did say a while ago where you were going but I've forgotten now .

Vera I see you had a bad night ,hope you managed to get some sleep last night .

Not a lot happening here the usual things to do in the house ,I did clean a few windows yesterday as it was cloudy and wiped the window sills down .
I potted up some yellow tomatoe plants I had grown from seed ,don't know if it's a little late for them but they look healthy plants so we'll see.
I had the little yellow toms last year and they were lovely and sweet ,these are a bigger variety.

Morning all,

Dull and dreary this morning with a grey sky. I think we had a little rian in the night as the grass looks wet and it was trying to rain before I went ot bed I could feel it in the air.

Slept well after my stint in the gardne yesterday but arm still niggling and I have physio this afternoon at 2pm.

Morning you lot,

What a time to wake up Vera. I always think if you think about sleepig you don't if you know what I mean.

I must have fallen right away last night the moment my head hit the pillow cos I don't remember laying there for a while. Was up at 5.13 for the loo and went back to bed and woke at 8.39am. I was in bed earlier lst night too just after 11pm.

Shopping comes today and I have one sub this week and thats unsmoked bacon instead of smoked which will be going back.

I must remember to put the dustbin out torrow and I have physio in the afternoon. I hope I don't come home aching more than when I went like last time I had it.
