Morning all (oops, it's afternoon already)
Phew, it's hot again. Weather app says it's 25 degrees but feels like 28. I just went out to the garden and there is not a breath of air. OH is continuing to paint the fence and he must be sweltering, particularly as he's covered up well to protect himself from sunburn.
As soon as I had got up and had a cuppa I went straight out to the conservatory to finish washing paintwork and cleaning all the glass before it got too hot out there. Got all that done and thoroughly cleaned 2 wall lights and a floor lamp and washed the glass shades on them. Then OH appeared and declared that he had decided to repaint the wide cill that runs round 3 sides. Why couldn't he have decided that before I spent time and elbow grease cleaning it all up? Of course it needed a bit of a rub down with sandpaper so there was plenty of dust flying around my nice clean room. It didn't take long to paint but honestly Men!! Why can't they look a little bit ahead? He's watched me turning the conservatory upside down for a few days now so why wait till today before deciding to paint the cill (which didn't seem to need it in my opinion). I appreciate the fact that he is a real hard worker but he's also a great wife-frustrator ;-)
I've just completed a Tesco order for delivery Saturday. You really have to watch these companies don't you. I sometimes buy frozen cherries to put with the overnight oats I make. They used to be £2 a pack, then £2.20, then £2.50. Now it is £2.25 which Tesco are advertising as a price drop. But they have reduced the weight of the pack by so much that it actually works out as a price rise.
It is frustrating when you can see things that need doing but can't get on with them, but don't be tempted to do much Mel. Thal will only delay the healing process. Keep doing the exercises they gave you and use your arm with care. It will get better eventually but may take time.
Enjoy your last day on the I of W AnnG. Hasn't that week gone quickly. Shame you've got to hang around before getting the ferry tomorrow. Is there anywhere at the port where you could have a late breakfast to kill some time? Safe journey back.
I'd better go and make my painter in chief something for his lunch. I know exactly what he'll want as he is a creature of habit. He'll have some pate and pickle on a slice of bread, a couple of lettuce leaves and maybe some rocket,, a chunk of cucumber, 3 small tomatoes, a couple of radishes and a bit of red pepper. Oh, and a smallish chunk of strong cheddar and a cake of some sort if I've got any. All stuff he can pick up in his fingers and eat in front of the box.

Morning all,
Blue sky with sausage shaped white clouds this morning and quite bright pc is sayng 17 degrees and pollen high and sunny so lets hope the sunny bit is right.
Waiting to drink my coffee as I made it too hot.....
Left wrist no better today it hurts and feels like it wants to click back into place and toes ache this morning too plus the usual arm and neck problem. This is so annoying as I want to do things in the garden but dare not.

Hello all
That was scary Mandy. Hope they can get the balance right with your tablets.
Vera, oh what a shame, I think I remember you going to this event other years. How frustrating. And how strange about the phone call. Have you tried googling it? I have not heard of that before.
Today we went to Ventnor botanic gardens which were lovely. I have a gardeners world two for one which was acceptable there so that was good. We then had lunch sitting overlooking the sea at Ventnor. And finally visited a craft centre on the way back to our cottage. Lots of lovely things to see but a bit expensive so it was just looking. Tomorrow looks like being a lovely day like today so we are going to see the Needles. Not looking forward to promised storms on Saturday though when travelling. We have to be out if here at 0900 and our ferry is not until 1140. So a bit of hanging around.

Hallo all
Quite warm and at the moment it's sunny though it does keep clouding over.
That "funny turn" must have been frightening Mandy. I hope they can soon get the dosage level right for your bp pills.
Oversleeping isn't a problem Mel unless you have something special to get up for. You must have needed the sleep.
I am feeling just a little down at the moment. I slogged through the ironing this morning and then we had a snack at midday because we were going to a strawberry tea event in aid of a local heart charity. We go every year and it's always a good afternoon. They put out sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls etc first and then when everyone has had their fill of those out come all sorts of dishes of strawberries, pavlovas, filled sponges, cakes etc. There's always lots of good quality raffle prizes and usually a couple of different quiz sheets on the tables and sometimes a bit of entertainment, like a singer or musician.
Today, our post came as we were getting ready to go and it included something for OH which required various urgent phone calls, all of which seemed to involve lots of hanging on and waiting. On one call OH was upstairs on his mobile phone and I used mine downstairs to call our friends and say we would be late to the tea party. I couldn't believe it when OH shouted down the stairs that my call had cut his off and he could hear me talking on his phone. How could that happen? Separate phones, different numbers, why can't we use the phones at the same time? We are both with the same provider so maybe that has something to do with it. Anyway, he had to go through the process of making that call again and then hanging on to speak to the right person. By the time he was ready to go out and drive there we would have been so late that they would be starting to pack up. I was disappointed but at least the charity gets the £20 we paid for tickets.
As I said we only had a light snack at midday, and expecting to eat lots this afternoon, I just took some soup from the freezer for dinner tonight. We could both do with something a bit more substantial now but I am not in the mood for cooking tonight so OH will have to fill up on bread or maybe cheese on toast.
I also got an emailed letter from the hospital which started by saying that they had to cancel my next appointment. That made me feel even more irritable but when I read on I found they have made me another one just 2 days later so that's OK.
I think I am definitely ready for a cuppa and a ginger biccy now so I am off to put the kettle on.

Morning all,
Bright and sunny this morning and pc says 15 degrees and partly sunny. At least its not raining.
I over slept this mormning but there is nothing to get up for anyway so it dos'nt matter. I ache all over today, wrists, back and my arm.I don't think I have been taking my Joint Ace so thinking about it I may take one now.
The blackbirds in the garden are eating my blueberries while they are still green as I hav'nt covered thenm up this year. I was going to ask BIL to lift them on the patio for me so I can have them on the decking or in the green house as I hav'nt anything in there this year but as he did'nt come last week they are getting thinner and thinner on the bushe and they were really loaded this year.
I nearlly finished my little Tudor man yesterday and he's been very fiddley so perhaps thats why my wrist ache so much. I only have his hat to make now and he's finished. I saved that till last. Yesterday i did his hair and his boots. I had'nt touched him for quite a while so it was something different to do.

The steam train had 3rd class carriages with the individual apartments that would have seated five each side facing each other but no corridor down the train It was interesting but sadly nothing much to see as the rails pass mainly through forest and fields. But the whole complex was interesting, the museum and the train story where old engines and carriages could be viewed. Outside there was a short displat from the falconry of red kites flying. We chose not to go into the falconry as that was more money and the train was quite expensive. We had a picnic lunch then drove to Carisbrook Castle. It was a good day.

O Mandy that was frightening. I hope they can sort out your tablets so you feel much better and more yourself. Its such a bind to have to keep doing your blood pressure but do it cos its for your own good. Sending love. <3
My arm is still playing up and its now 4 weeks tomorrow. I can't lift things with my arm outstretched even getting the solar lights off the windowsill as it gets dark hurts it or putting thing up in the top cupboard where the mugs are. The pc also makes it hurt if I do a lot of scrolling or typing.
Just having a cuppa and a rich tea biscuit.

It sounds as though you had a nice day yesterday AnnG. I hope you are enjoying today. Did you mean steam train? Dream train sounds much more exciting :-)
I hope your next blood test shows an improvement from borderline Mandy, and that the doc will be able to sort out the right bp pills for you.
Is your arm still giving you trouble Mel? Sadly, these problems with damaged nerves or muscles can hang around for quite a while but I hope it is improving for you.
I'm pleased you have got your hearing aid fixed now Gwyn. I can't imagine what it must be like not to be able to hear. Lovely to hear about the school outing to the beach. Children need the opportunity to just have fun and enjoy being children and it is surprising how much they learn through play. Many years ago one of my granddaughters was sent, age 3, to a Montessori school. One day when we were staying in Yorkshire OH and I went to pick her up from the school bus. Chatting to her I asked her what she had been doing at school that day. The answer was "I have been learning about gravity". She was 3! I remember thinking at that time that she should have been playing in a sandpit.
Well, today I drove myself to the hairdressers. It's only about 1.5 miles and the same back but it is the first time I have driven for several months and I felt quite nervous in case my eyes weren't good enough. The hospital assured me that my right eye is good enough to pass muster with the DVLA and it is legal to drive with only one good eye. Of course, I was fine and worrying about nothing, though my bad eye did feel a bit strained, probably because I was concentrating doubly hard in case I missed seeing something. I'll only be doing short local trips but at least OH won't have to stop what he is doing to take me every time I need to shop or go into town.

Good afternoon all. The wind has dropped and, except for a very light shower while we were indoors at a garden centre, it has remained dry. No sun today though, bright and warm though. We are all in shorts and short sleeves.
After the garden centre where we managed to find things to buy as they had a Klass franchise shop there and also Regatta, we drove to Bembridge to buy fish from the shop that featured on the TV series on the IOW. We bought sea bass fresh caught this morning and a few prawns for daughter and I. SiL is not a fish eater, then after a wander around we drove to the lifeboat centre to sit in the car and look over the sea while we ate lunch. We then visited a butterfly sanctuary where they also had a Japanese part with lots of Koi. It was a good day but I hope the sun will return tomorrow.

Afternoon all, Well that was quick I heard about my blood test this morning ,I missed the call so had to ring back ,luckily I was only number 2 in the queue ,they said I need another blood test in two weeks as my blood test for my kidneys was border line ,these new tablets for blood pressure can affect the kidneys so I expect it will mean changing them again.
Vera that was good no charge for the glasses but they had messed you about ,I hope they will now help with the headaches. I noticed how small the cauliflowers have been lately and like you I fall back on frozen veg at times but I do like fresh veg.
Oh Gwyn I hope you soon get your hearing aid back your in a right muddle without it . Sounds as if the children enjoyed the beach trip ,you can't beat digging in the sand and hunting for pretty shells, stones crabs and star fish etc on the beach . No sweet treats cooking but I have made a crustless quiche and thsts now cooking in the oven . I find I can get indigestion with pastry now so I thought I'd give a crustless one a try its looking good so far nearly cooked .
Well the rainbow last night was the brightest one I've ever seen it started off as one and as it got brighter it turned into a double ons ,so pretty . Just had a few spits of rain not enough to wet the ground but it should turn heavy later .

Good afternoon everyone, So good to read that you have at last got your glasses Vera. I can imagine how much you have missed being able to see properly, so it is great that you have them back and the optician didn't charge. I hope the glasses help to ease the headaches you've been experiencing.
Enjoy those treats ;-)
Talking of treats, Mandy's baking always sounds delicious !
Mel, How is the arm? I hope the pain is getting better and is more manageable. It's such a busy time of year with so much to do in the garden that it is difficult to rest, I expect, but I hope you are taking it easy, when you can.
I wonder what weather Ann has today. The Isle of Wight has one of the best sunshine records for the whole of the country, so I hope it's good there today. We have a lot of cloud, but it's sunny, bright and dry. We were predicted thunderstorms by now, but we've yet to see any rain, although we could do with some. I think the heavy rain is due tonight now.
It's a quiet world for me at the moment. After 2 operations many years ago on my ear, I am virtually deaf in one ear and have very little hearing in the other. Last week my hearing aid for my 'good' ear suddenly stopped working and is at present in the audiology department at the hospital being repaired. Watching TV with subtitles has become the norm. but news reports, which are sometimes live do leave one guessing about what was actually said. On the lunchtime news, a man supposedly said he was born 18 months premature :-S :-S
Thank goodness I could hear last week. It was a whole school outing to the beach. We all had a great time and it was lovely to see all the children playing together and enjoying the old favourite activities of digging and making sandcastles. We were lucky with the weather as it was cloudy, bright and warm with no need for cardigans,or jackets so less belongings for them all to look after. No more outings due, I think, as it won't be long until they break up for the summer.

Good afternoon all
It's been a grey, cool morning with spits and spots of rain and heavier rain forecast for this afternoon. It looks like it is going to get hotter again towards the weekend.
I don't know what is happening to Sainsbury's lately. We popped in this morning for a few bits and pieces and the veg shelves were half empty and I wouldn't buy what was there as it was all way past its best and really only fit for the compost heap. Cauliflowers looked OK but were so tiny we could have eaten one each and they were expensive as well so it will be tinned or frozen veg for the next few days.
We also went to pick up my glasses. I am much happier now I can at least see pretty well through one lens. I won't have perfect vision until they can stabilise my left eye but at least it's much better than it was now I've got the right glasses. I asked the girl who was dealing with me how much I had to pay and couldn't believe it when she said that it was being done for free as "a goodwill gesture". It was hardly their fault that I fell and damaged them but I think someone has realised that they should have done what the hospital wanted in the first place and not caused me so much hassle and left me without glasses for so long. Anyway, a good result for me and my bank balance.
We have a ladies' club meeting tonight and it's someone talking about flower arranging which isn't really my thing, but I didn't go last month because I had a migraine so I had better put in an appearance.
OH is just making us a snack so I am off for my lunch now. When we went out I did buy a fresh, crusty loaf and some doughnuts. Naughty but nice ;-)

We didn't have thunder and lightening like Mandy but had several spells of really heavy rain which has flattened some of the flowers. I had hoped to get out late afternoon and do some overdue deadheading but that will have to wait for another day now. On the plus side I now haven't got to go and water my neighbour's plants as she is away for a couple of days again.
I am collecting my glasses tomorrow - at last! At least now I'll be able to see with my right eye without everything being a bit blurry. It's been a real strain not being able to see properly for several weeks and I've had a lot of headaches. Goodness only knows what it is going to cost me but I hope it won't be excessive as once the hospital can get my left eye stabilised I may have to have new glasses anyway. Apparently, if I feel comfortable and safe I can drive with only one good eye. I might try driving into town on Wednesday as I have a haircut booked and it will mean OH doesn't have to stop what he is doing to take me into town and hang around till I'm ready to come back. I'll see how confident I feel on Wednesday.
