It would be interesting to know which age group found the maths question difficult as I suspect it is in the way maths was taught when they were at school. I am aware that thee have been several changes in how to work things out.
Besdies walking down to Irene's with a few books, I have, since I came back sorted out one of the book shelves in the book case and taken a load from there and added them to a half empty shelf in the dining room So the book case has one half full shelf and a completely empty shelf with a few small disney ornaments on it. I have a few more books for Irene now, these are tending to be walking books and I know there are more that I can off load.

So gloomy here today with such a heavy mist that visibility is very limited. Laptop is telling me it's 12 degrees and mostly cloudy, but that seems too warm for how I feel.
Good to hear that you feel a little better, Mandy, but be very gentle on yourself and take each day steadily. I hope you soon get some answers and help to really improve the situation. So sad that your appointment with the locum was not good. I do realise that we can't just get an appointment and then come up with a whole list of ailments, but I do wish they would be willing to see the bigger picture and realise that several factors may be featuring in the present situation. Hopefully the hospital tests will give a clearer picture of your body's needs.
AnnG I am late responding to your maths question, but I too was able to work it out quickly and easily. I remember being taught B O D M A S for the order of working out such a sum, ie. Brackets, of, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.

Pleased that you are feeling better Mandy. probably a good idea to keep away from the screen a bit if it makes your eyes ache. Maybe the eye test when you have it will have an answer for that.
It is still dark and gloomy and I noticed the sand has landed on my wheelie bins so I had better get some water thrown over them. I have had a bit odf a sort out of one of the lounge book shelves. These were in the book case that has doors. I like the piece of furniture but the shelves are very low and difficult these days to get down to. so some older books have gone down to Irene and I think I will transfer some of the rest of the books to other higher book shelves so that is another job for the list. I knew I had a theasaurus up in my office but had completely forgeotten the huge one I had downstairs, also books to help with crosswords (which I rarely do now but used to) and one book of all the english preverbs.. I used to do a lot of competitions when they were attached to items bought among the groceries and some of the books I found were to help with that.
I extended the walk to and from Irenes this morning and I think that is probably three quarters of a ile (ish). If the weather picks up a bit I will soon think about walking round the park way.

Morning , Another grey day here , thought I'd do a post ,I have gradually read the posts but try not to look at the screen to long as it makes my eyes ache a bit . I do think my head is slightly better today and I haven't had a passing out feeling since Saturday so thats one good thing as they are awful . Off to get a shower now , might look in later .

Morning all,
I have been looking through Asda's garden stuff online to see if there was anything I fancied for the garen this year but I think I have enough rubbish to get me through another year.
Its another grim morning here and its 10 degrees so not cold but just miserable.
I hope Mandy is feeling a bit better todayMorning all,

I have been thinking of our Mandy poor girl, I feel so sorry for her as its been going on a long while now and that in itself must get her down. You really would have thought the docs would have helped.

Good morning all 7 degrees, still murky and what a horrible dark day it was all day yesterday. Not that cold, just very depressing. I did seem to get several small jobs done, made a birthday card for soon to be 3 year old step great granddaughter, tidied away around the not working water feature where there were several old ornaments - several broken from being thrown off by the birds. and I cleaned a smaller water feature which is a fairy sitting on a bowl which acts like a fountain I need to try and mend her as well as she got broken during last winter. Anyway I slept well last night but had a weird dream about going to a cafe during a walk and not being able to find my purse. then opened the boot of my car (that is a 4 year throw back) to find it full of junk and no purse. I didn't seem to be panicked by the loss, but as I woke up I realised it was probably in my zip up top coat pocket (where I carry it when travelling on the bus).
Sorry that you are having back trouble Vera, what a pity nothing seems to work it is frustrating (not to say painful) when you have so many jobs you want to do.
My Ipad suddenly presented me with a split screen the day before yesterday and I had no idea how to get rid of it when it suddenly went back to normal I think I was on email at the time.
The answer of course was 35 and apparently a lot of people said 36. Yes, younger people who have had the brackets pushed at them probably saw brackets that wee not there. I have to admit I sometimes get confused when there are brackets.

Another day has flown by with not enough done. I don't know where the time goes though I know I am getting slower. OH seems to have found a surge of energy today and has been getting on with lots of jobs.
I slept quite well last night but my back has been very painful all day. The heat pad I used actually stayed on today and I have taken some pain killers though I try not to take too many of those. I've been thinking about you Mandy and hoping you haven't had any swimmy heads today.
I've spent quite a while this afternoon trying to sort out what is happening with Outlook on my iPad. It will take too long to explain tonight but there are some very weird things happening and there's no rhyme nor reason for them. So far emails are OK on the pc and on my phone. It just seems to be the iPad that's been attacked by gremlins.
Yes, I could do your sum in my head in seconds as well AnnG but I can see why some people got it wrong. I don't think a lot of people understand the difference between having brackets round some of the figures or not having brackets round them.
Right, I'm off to sort out my overnight oats for breakfast in the morning, then I feel like a nice wash and I'll prop myself up on the pillows and read for a while. Sleep well everyone.

I think (hope!) I got it right AnnG. I expect some would do the minus step before the divide instead of the other way round and get it wrong.
Well my list hasn't got much ticked off it yet. We've been looking at the menu for the italian restaurant where we plan to go tomorrow for OH's birthday, which is on Tuesday. Not sure why he has chosen Monday ,as I am expecting a small parcel that will hopefully go through the letterbox. They seem to have added chilli to some of their dishes now, so we have excluded those, but there is still plenty of choice.

Just glancing through the Mail OS on line and they put a maths question up which apparently people found difficult and many got wrong (adults) The sum is 6X6 - 6 divided by 6 (sorry don't have the symbol available quickly for divide.) I am sure you can all do that in your head as I did in about 10 seconds or less.
Better get dressed Jake is coming to give me an estimate this morning and I am never sure when he will arrive.

Morning All,
Yes we have the grey and gloom too! OH has gone for his walk and I have got our salmon, veg traybake and a few low fat chunky chips ready for lunch. The co-op mediterranean traybakes are good and ready to cook so it's an easy meal for a lazy Sunday.
It sounds like you are ok for oil for some time Mel, and time to see how the prices go. Our earliest Camellia has been in flower for about a fortnight and some flowers are past their best now, but the other two are still in bud with no colour showing yet.
It seems we all had a good night last night AnnG. I find the memories are interesting with the weather like you say. We soon forget by the next year as you say. I am tackling a few things on my list today too so better make a start.
I hope Mandy is feeling better this morning.

Good morning all very grey and gloomy again and 7 degrees, but dry.
I slept really well, from about 11pm to 2.40 up for the loo, back to sleep and woke again for the loo about 0635, back to sleep for another hour then decided I had better get up. Now just off for a shower. Nothing planned for today but plenty of things on my 'list'.
Just had one of my 'memories' on facebook and 10 years ago the weather was the same, very warm one day and the next kije yesterday, cold and gloomy. So nothing changes really only in our minds.

My camelias are out in the garden up the top and the forsythia and hysinths and mauve primroses as well as the usual ones. I must pick a little bunch for Em.
BIL said last week he filled both their cars up and I think I will pop to Hatherleigh tomorrow and do mine. Not sure what to do about the heating oil I should think it will get me through the cold spell and I only use it for the hot water in the summer.
Hope you all sleep well tonight.
