Sun Mel? What's that? It rained during the night and first thing this morning, then dried up a bit before starting again around 10 am and it has bucketed down. Dan, our new handyman, came this morning to do an outside job for us and brought a lad with him and they both worked hard till about 11.30 when OH went out and suggested that they leave it for today. They were like drowned rats. The lad had taken his top clothes off and put them in the van to keep them dry and was just wearing a sopping wet T shirt, with water running down his face and his hair plastered to his head. They are coming back Saturday afternoon to carry on.

Thank you for your nice comments about granddaughter. Mandy I hadn't thought of Thursford though it will be much too late for this year. I'll tell her to put it on her list of places to look at. I've been to the Christmas show 2 or 3 times now and it's always a good show. Annx, in your email you said the mermaid fish tail would be an experience. She is well used to it. A couple of years ago, at her request, we bought her a monofin (fish tail) for her birthday as she was doing some specialist swimming at a sealife centre.

I have to try and get out to buy the granddaughter with the horse a birthday card. I had a lovely card for her but forgot someone else's birthday so quickly sent granddaughter's card to her. Now I have to get another one and post it in the hope it gets there for Friday. Even 1st class is so unreliable these days.

OH has just called me for a sandwich. Might be back later.

Afternoon All,

No bright eyes or bushy tails here this morning. We crawled out at 8.00am to shower and go to Costa down the road for an egg, mushroom and spinach bap and OH managed to get a couple of ' buy one, get one half price' books at Waterstones. It's rained on and off all morning so the window cleaner was a 'no show' as expected. I rang Anglian about the front door but it was a 30+ minute wait, so I asked for a service visit online instead. What a palaver though, they don't make it easy and I had to go and get photos to attach and then it wouldn't accept two photos and that's what they want! Now I haven't had the acknowledgement email they said would be sent yet!

No gardening today, so indoor jobs there are plenty of to do for me and OH is doing work stuff and inbetween showers is getting things out of the shed to throw out in the rubbish bin for tomorrows collection. I'm expecting two deliveries as well so it's good I will be able to hear them come.

That's a shame you can't pick your scripts up from the shop anymore Mel and have to travel further to get them.

It sounds like you may be staying in today AnnG. Does your leg improve once you are up and about and have the gales subsided now? The wind has dropped here now.

Better get lunch now. It's an easy salad with jersey royal potatoes.

Morning Lovely ladies,

A bit brighter here at the moment and its13 degrees and that only went up a notch since looking but to expect 3 rainy days in aa row starting tomorrow. No change there then!

I have a small parcel to post today and I also need to go to Black Torrington to get my scripts. Since the new people took the village shop over we can't have our scripts dropped off there for collection.

Hope you all slept well and are feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning.

I did take some pic of the tree but its hard to get a good pic as its all so overgrown with nettles down there. It seem it was a multi stemmed tree and one part has came away. I rang Aaron and the twins came home today so they are getting settled in. He's got I think he said 8 months off as he had'nt taken any proper leave so its all mounted up which will be good for him to help with the two new babies and the older daughter.

I was just going to go out and do some gardening when it stated to rain so nothing got done.

We have stayed in today. It has been bright and dry but the wind has been gale force, I doubt I could stand up in it. Joe cut the lawns and Lyn strimmed the edges. No exercise but plenty of reading and chatting.

Hopefully we will see the girls sometime. Have already seen Grandson once.

Had a message from daughter’s youngest to say could they come for the day on the 20th o will be seeing Cassian then which will be good.

Evening all ,

It's been sunny off and on here with quite a strong wind , we did sit our this morning and as son got the new benches put together I moved some pots about to make room for a bench but I didn't do to much as my back has been twinging from when I had to bend over to tie up all the tomato plants ,I'm now sitting with a heat pad to try and ease it .
We had a lovely Chinese meal last night with the family and all said we must do it more often.

Vera lovely photo of your granddaughter in her costume for the show , those last few months will soon go and she'll soon be home again , has she ever auditioned for the Thursford show, , I expect it might be to late this year as they probably start rehearsals in October/November ,when we went there was some lovely singers in the show and some of them had been in some of the London shows .

Oh no Mel was it a very old tree , shame to lose one if it was a good tree .

Ann sounds as if that magpie is making a nuisance of himself, hope he does leave a calling card each time .
Your getting your pots planted, I have a few marigolds to go in but it will have to be later in the week now as I don't want to make my back worse .

Anng do the cats go into the cattery while your away, bet they were pleased to see you all home .

Emmerdale and Corrie on tonight for those that watch it , it's going to be all different each week while the world Cup is on .

Afternoon All,

We had some drizzle yesterday, but today has been fine but blustery. With OH moving the plants I wanted to put in the pots for me, I managed to plant up five pots and there are a couple left to do tomorrow as my back was protesting by then. Then I will see if I do the wall pots. They should look nice and cheerful if the wind doesn't snap things off!

Thanks for the pics of your granddaughter Vera, Doesn't she look great dressed for the part! :-D It's good she is turning her mind to what work she can find when she comes home, but this trip should stand her in good stead for any similar work that may become available. The has the right attitude to keep her eye open for opportunities and is gaining experience from this trip. The daughter of my cousin in the wedding photo I sent lives in Scotland and belongs to a group that puts on amateur shows, but your granddaughter is probably too good for those now. She's certainly visited some new places while she's been there. I wish I had her travel knowhow and confidence! :-)

Just had the food delivery and one sub to send back. Why when you order low fat potato salad why do they think the 'creamy' version will do. They were early which pleased us. I hate hanging around waiting.

Mel you've lost a few trees now haven't you, but no doubt Aaron will be more than happy to remove and can use them. Your foxgloves look nice along the shed covered in your OH's cheerful sunflowers. The sunflowers are lasting well and must be a nice reminder of him. The rose in your pic is a lovely colour and like one I inherited in my last house when I moved in.

I expect the cats were glad to see you all back AnnG. I suppose you may get to see some more of the family this coming week which would be nice.

Mandy I need to hoover and dust! I haven't done a thorough job for ages now and the webs are appearing as well. I heard OH cuss and dash into the conservatory this morning after hearing some rattling. The Magpie was trying his luck again and trying to move some empty cardboard boxes in there. He soon scarpered when he saw OH, who shut the door then.

Morning everyone,

Quite bright here this morning and dry but there are clouds in the sky so its that funny yellowy grey it is 16 degrees and pc says to expect 4 rainy days starting tomorrow.

I put a post on here last night before I went to bed I thought or maybe I answered Vera's email but it was about nearly 2am.

The pics of her granddaughter were great, she's a hard worker. I hope she finds some good work when she get back home. I like to see youngsters who put an effort in get on in life. Good on her is what I say. Its nice to know that not all young people are layabouts.

I can hear a mower so am wondering if BIL is here??? it could be neighbours mowing but someone is.

Thanks for the pictures Mel. The rose is a lovely colour and the foxgloves are looking good too. It’s a good job you found your parcel. It could have been put anywhere. Some of these delivery drivers are dreadful.

Thank you Annx for forwarding AnnG’s photo of the view from her window. Doesn’t it look great? What a lovely place to stay. How long are you staying at your daughter’s now Ann?

You’ve been busy today Mandy. I hope you enjoy your Chinese meal tonight. I think you said the family are joining you so that will be a nice little celebration for yesterday..

We had a lovely couple of days at our son’s. Granddaughter is missing family and friends but is glad to be employed and well paid as the entertainment business is very precarious. She is already worrying about getting an acting or singing job when she returns in October. She will always work as she’s been brought up with a work ethic but it might have to be what she can get, probably with an agency that supplies care workers to nursing homes etc as she has experience of that.

Gosh, it’s cold, wet and miserable today. We haven’t seen a gleam of sun. It doesn’t seem possible that last week we were complaining that it was too hot. I think it’s time I went and sorted out our dinner. Tonight it’s fish with baby potatoes and some veg so an easy meal to cook. Keep warm and sleep well tonight.

Its raining here now so those who have grey skies and wind I'm probably the same as you.
