AnninGlos Report 30 Mar 2026 08:25

good morning all 7 degrees here and a bit grey. Nothing planned, still 'nursing along the three wounds.. Hope there will be a big improvement in two weeks as that day I go to my son';s for a week. Not a lot of sleep last night, couldn't get comfortable. Probably enough to keep me going though.

I think there is a lot more noise and shouting in other programmes on TV than Emmerdale and Corrie. OK there has to be some to be realistic and I think the script writers do a lot of good these days with hilighting various medical/mental health problems. Emmerdale now have the prostate cancer story line and Corrie, the grooming one. and domestic abuse. And the acting in the three main soaps is excellent too.

Annx Report 29 Mar 2026 18:59

Thank you for mentioning it AnnG. I think our Sky box usually picks up and records them when they are out of sequence, as I always record them. I used to watch Emmerdale when it was Emmerdale Farm and certainly watched Corrie from when Ena Sharples was in it. The stories are certainly more topical and gripping now and so unlike they were years ago, but there's no swearing and I wouldn't say there was much shouting or argueing. That sounds more like Eastenders to me which I've never managed to watch for more than a few minutes.

I used to like Terry's, but it is much sweeter than the Lindt 90% I have now. Montezuma's 100% Black is too much for me though and really strong!

It seems a long day to me and I feel tired already although bedtime will be an hour earlier with the clocks going forward..

AnnG you did well in the shower then with all the other wounds to try to keep dry as well.

I hope we all sleep well and wake refreshed.

Good evening
I can’t believe how late it is already. Where on earth has the day gone? I turned the light off just before midnight last night and went straight to sleep but only for about an hour. Then I had to get up as my legs were jumping all over the place and the only way to stop it is to walk around. After sitting up with a cup of tea and a book for quite a while I went back to bed but still didn’t sleep till about 6 am. Then, of course, I didn’t get up till 9.30 which is very late for me so I feel as though I’m all behindhand today. Not that it matters as I wasn’t planning to do much anyway.

I showered and washed my hair and did several small jobs and managed to dish our Sunday dinner up at our usual 2 pm. When Mel did roast loin of pork the other day I said I was going to have that this weekend but when I went to get it out of the freezer I saw I had a nice piece of gammon and fancied that instead. It was delicious, tender and flavoursome. We had lots of veg with it and followed it with a shop bought apple strudel so I’m still full up and won’t want much for tea.

This afternoon I’ve set up a Tesco order for delivery on Wednesday. I’ll go online on Tuesday and see what veg they have at their special low prices before I complete the order. I’ve also ordered some more stamps. It’s grandson’s birthday on Saturday and I usually send him money or a voucher but I try and vary the vouchers a bit. I asked daughter and she said he needs new trainers so I’ve got a voucher from a sports shop that has a branch in Leeds, his nearest big town, and also an online shop. Looking at the price of good trainers our voucher will probably pay for the shoelaces!!

Opening the lounge door so the conservatory can warm it is a good idea but our small conservatory leads out from the kitchen which is usually warm anyway. I have a couple of troughs of geraniums in there and they are blooming away like yours AnnG. Normally I take off any flowers while they are indoors to conserve the strength in the plant but I’ve left them this year. I haven’t watered them since I brought them indoors in November though I will probably have to give them some water soon.

You did well to wash your hair AnnG. It can’t have been easy. I know how difficult I used to find it when I wasn’t allowed to get water in my eye. I don’t watch any soaps or much telly at all really. I always seem to be busy during the day and OH and I usually want to watch different things in the evening. He always says I can have what I want but often there isn’t much on at all that appeals to me. I’ll watch a few things on iPlayer but that’s the only catch-up app that I’ve downloaded to my iPad.

I don’t suppose one small cake will do much harm to your bil Mel and an occasional treat can do a lot for morale but don’t offer them too often or he might get used to them and start eating more. We have more cakes and puddings than are good for us. If I buy or make small cakes I now freeze them and only defrost two at a time for us to have after our lunchtime snack. Luckily neither of us have shown any signs of diabetes and neither of us are overweight. Mandy, don’t worry about not cooking cakes for the family. You need to conserve your energy and look after yourself for a while. You do buy them lots of fruit and that’s much better for all of them, especially the ones with diabetes. It’s nice to think that the hairdresser you like is living in a house built by OH’s brother. I too remember you telling us about him slipping in the shower. Such a sad end for him and a shock for you all.
OH’s new bookshop made me smile Annx. It couldn’t be more appropriate.

Time is still whizzing away and OH will think I’ve got lost as I’ve been upstairs at the computer for ages. On the other hand, he has probably dozed off and not even missed me.

Don't watch either I can't stand all the shouting and agueing. Hav'nt watch either for years and years. The only soap I liked they took off and that was Doctors.

I don't eat chocolate well not ilk chocolate anyway I like the dark choc though and I don't find it bitter. Terry's used to do a bitter chocolate and I loved that.

dos'nt this day seem a very short day?

I think I am on my third round of all the midsummer murders. I still prefer the ofiginal series with John Nettles. Loved the humour in them and the family side. Neil Dudgeon is very good but the series is a lot more serious and sometimes more graphic.

Washing my hair Ann I was trying not to slip while dodging around as the new antislip mat is not as good for a Bath shower it is a bit too big. And at the same time avoiding the two arm places and then the temple one. I did flannel wash instead of going right under the shower. Still I am clean for now.

Afternoon All,

It was lovely sunshine when OH walked to the village shop a mile away, but we've had rain since and it's still spotting. The food comes today so I expect the floor will need a mop after that. The semi skimmed milk sub will be going back as we only ever have skimmed, but the other sub was ok.

That was unkind to tempt ypur BIL with cake Mel. Did it have icing on as well? It would also have been bad for his arthritis too as sugar raises inflammation in the body making pain in the joints worse. We haven't had any cake at all for over a year now and don't even miss it anymore. Chocolate has been my downfall, but I've cut it down and I mostly have the black stuff now and I can't eat much of that as it's so bitter! No easter eggs for us again this year.

It's good you managed to wash your hair well enough AnnG despite the sterri strips and being a contortionist to do it!

What a great family connection with your hairdresser Mandy, but it was so sad about Ray. I remember you saying about his accident in the shower before. OH has a book shop now! lol. They've done one of the ceramic tealight cottages as one and so he bought it! I'll see if I can take a photo tomorrow and send it. I enjoy Midsummer murders too.
I must remember to change the clock in the car tomorrow. OH has done the only two that don't change themselves.

BIL has the pen thing I think but not sure if thats for arthritis or not cos he gets bad flare ups where his hands swell up.

Not done much this morning just looked up a recipe for cornflalke cakes no cooking as I like those and I am going to make some with eggs on top for my neighbours and the little girl next door to go with her easter egg, just a small one with fredo faces inside. I am also going to copy that cake I bought down the Cake Cupboard doing choc brownie with the cornflake cake on top.

Hungry now and its dinner time so better eat something. This hour has thrown me right out this time.

Afternoon all,

Very grey here today and it's only 8 degrees, I think if was warmer at Christmas , there was a very sharp frost too .

Yes Ann the hairdresser is a lovely lady she rents one of the houses that Colins brother Ray built ,he had his builders yard on the site then got permission to build 4 houses ,he named the close after his late wife and one of the sons lives in one of them ,sadly Ray died when he slipped in the shower .

Oh I bet bil enjoyed his cake Mel ,when you don't/can't have them they must taste delicious.
I haven't made cakes for the family lately , but not having the energy and the fact that son and Jake are diabetic I don't think it's fair to tempt them with cakes .
Jake has now got a thing on his arm ,don't know what it's called but it reads his blood and delivers a shot when he needs it ,I think he also has a pen like thing to give himself a shot too .

Going to sit and watch a Mid summer Murders I recorded ,got fire lit

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 29 Mar 2026 10:37

BiL would be ok if it was just one and he had not had anything else with sugar in. Is he able to read his blood sugar levels on his phone. It would probably go up quickly then drop again in anhour or so.

Yes I am OK with the vaseline but the temple one has sterri strips which I have to leave, not remove until they fall off. I can't see putting vaseline on top of sterri strips.

Anyway, I washed it, not a good wash but will be OK and I managed without getting the wound wet. I think I should be a contortionalist.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Mar 2026 10:26

Morning all,

Anng just put some vasaline over it, a good lot and that will keep the wound dry on your temple.

Miserable morning here grey skies but dry and its 8 degrees and 5 rainy days ahead according to the pc.

I was naughty yesterday and tempted BIL to a cup cake. He said coffee and walnut was his favourite and he usually says no because he has diabetis but they were'nt very big and he asked me where I got them from, I said I made them.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 29 Mar 2026 08:24

good morning all. I hope that you all remembered to put your clocks forward. I just have the kitchen wall clock to do, couldn't be bothered to do that one last night. I seem to be getting enough sleep although it is in one to two hour stretches. I might try leaving the third pillow off tonight as it is my neck that wakes me up aching at having to be in an awkward position.

ann, yes I open my lounge door to let the heat in too when the sun makes the conservatory hot. I have some bedding geraniums in pots and troughs from last year in the conservatory and they are flowering beautifully in there, they love the heat. they will probably die when I eventually put them back out side.

I am going to have to work out how I can wash my hair today without getting my temple wound too wet. Should be fun.

Annx Report 28 Mar 2026 21:59

Evening All,

As Mandy said it has been a bitter wind here although bright and sunny. OH rang the garage and they said they'd check the tyre anyway and the new one was in case it was needed. Well it was needed as there was a rusty nail in it where it couldn't be repaired so MORE EXPENSE and a cost of £190. I expect it was picked up on the big industrial estate where we went to look at the carpets and beds. I took OH to go and collect the car (walking pole was still there which pleased me) and had to tell him to stop talking on the way so I could concentrate on which way I needed to go as I hadn't driven that way since before the pandemic and there were changes and it's busier. Remember he can talk and ask questions all the way to Cornwall from home! I can understand you finding a lot of chat tiring Mandy, especially as you aren't 100% yet, but it was good the hairdresser swept up when she'd finished. Yes OH did wrap up well and just made it to a local match after getting his car.

That's good you managed to succeed with the tablet Mel. It sounds like BIL found his second wind after another sleep, but it's a shame he needs another part before the mower can be mended. Either mending them or mowing seems to take a lot of his time. My BIL used to mow for the council using those gang mowers that were towed along.

Our conservatory was warm so I opened the door to the lounge AnnG to help warm it up. I hope you are feeling a bit better with the dressings gone and will be more comfy in bed tonight. It is another day less to having the stitches out now and I've found that that makes a big difference.

Mind you don't overdo it Vera, you've done a lot and don't want to set yourself back. I still need to finish the bathroom tomorrow as hanging around for news of the car made it not worth changing into clothes for cleaning in. I wish we'd had your tyre bill instead of ours! There was more bad news as the garage told him that another two of his tyres need replacing soon, so he needs to get that done before his MOT in June! I was told the same about mine at my last MOT but that they would last to the next one in the autumn so it's a year of replacing tyres for us!

Gwyn, similar to your daughter we had to use annual leave by the end of the tax year. I think we could carry over 10 days, but no more. Also we had to book any full week's leave we wanted in the year in January, which could be hard to decide. All the people who had children would want Christmas weeks through to New Year, but some of us had to come into work to provide cover and answer phones for the public. I never minded working over Christmas with just Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. Staff who came into work would bring in all kinds of food and the public didn't expect us to be working so the phones were quieter and so I could catch up with all my work and tidy my stationery and desk.

I should have posted this ages ago and just got up to check something and remembered.

AnninGlos Report 28 Mar 2026 20:30

Gosh Vera you go from one extreme to the other. Hope all that activity helps you sleep tonight.

Actually it is all a bit confusing. I was told if there are sterri strips, leave then they will fall off on their own. Well that is the only dressing on the head (temple) wound, right arm I removed the dressing but there are Sterri strips underneath. Right arm clear under dressing so once removed Vaseline was applied. I checked most of this out on the NHS site on google and that said apply a light breathable dressing if you want to so that is what I have done but I fail to see how I can put Vaseline on when there are sterri strips.

NO BIL arrived said he had a very bad night with only a little sleep so he dropped off the petrol and went home I got my parcel off ok as the tablet worked ok and I have to look at them all on the pc so they are then on the tablet when I get to the shop.

Came home and unloaded and got the cakes for my neighbours and put them in a box got the bunch of daffs and my bucket that Simon was goiung to drill a hole in to fit a drinking thing on it and off I went to the top. went in and had a cuppa with Janine and Simon had one of his cakes but Janine saved hers for later. We had a good natter and when I came home who was parked infront of the bungalow but BIL with the mower out on the front. I said to him I thought you were tired he said he'd had a sleep and come back. Anyway it was'nt what he thought and he has to order another bit and he said he will have to take the hweel off to see if he can fit it that way as its very awkward. When he's gone I did some painting.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 28 Mar 2026 17:41

Evening folks

I am OK (ish), thank you. I'm still not sleeping much and my funny head comes and goes, depending on how much work I've been doing but it's not in my genes to sit around when I know there are jobs to be done.

I have been busy again. Yesterday I started with a towel wash and while that was washing and drying I gave the upstairs of the house a good clean - not before time. I seemed to be hoovering, dusting, wiping down etc. for most of the morning. Then it was some admin. and checking on the plants overwintering in the conservatory before it was time to prepare and cook our dinner. I had intended to post after we'd eaten but I was so tired I didn't want to do anything.

Today I've made a pot of soup. We are going to have soup followed by a tuna and egg salad tonight and there's enough for 2 lots for 2 people to go in the freezer. Then I potted on some cuttings that were in the conservatory. They are now in a larger trough but still inside as the nights are pretty cold still. It's also been one of those days when every few minutes OH has wanted me. All I keep hearing is "I can't find..." or "I've forgotten the password to..." or "Can you just come and look at this on the computer". Over the course of the day I reckon I've wasted a couple of hours sorting OH out.

It's been an odd day; one minute it's bright sunshine, then grey and cloudy, then rain, then back to sun again. The wind had dropped this morning but by lunchtime it had got back up again and it was quite cold in the gusts.

Did bil manage to sort out the mower Mel and did you get your parcels packed without getting in a muddle?

Mandy, that's kind of you to make the rabbit eggs and hang them out for the children to take. I'm sure they will love them.

AnnG, I hope you are more comfortable now the dressings are off and you can have vaseline on your scar areas. Perhaps you will be able to sleep more comfortably now.

Did OH get his car back with a new tyre Annx? I hope it was all done to his satisfaction. I'm still not sure what the tyre chap did on our car but he took the wheel right off and, according to the invoice, it appears to be something to do with the "osf rim seal". I assume osf is offside front.

That was a bargain heated throw Gwyn. It will keep you cosy when it's cold. Thanks for the mention of the cheaper vegetables. I'm hoping to sort out a delivery from either Tesco or Sainsbury's for Wednesday so I'll have a look at their veg before I decide which one to book.

Afternoon all,

It's been a nice sunny day so far ,the sun is really warm through the window but my goodness if you go outside that cold wind cuts you in half .
Hair dresser has been so we're all fine for another six weeks but my goodness I'd had enough by the time she finished ,it just seems to drain me ,even just talking in company .she was so good though she hoovered up all the hair for us bless her .

Gwyn thank you for the reminder about the veg ,I usually stock up and store it in the cool shed where it keeps for a few weeks .

Anng hope your scars are OK once the dressings come off , perhaps they might ease a bit without the pressure from dressings .

Mel hope bil can mend the mower ,I wondered if it was still under guarantee as it doesn't seem that long ago he bought it .

Ann hope OH get the car back OK and the tyre was repaired ,is he off to footie today ,he will need his thermals on today .

Hope Vera's OK and just busy as I don't think she posted yesterday .

I'm now going to have a lazy afternoon doing a little crochet ,I saw some little crochet rabbit eggs so thought I'd see if I can make some , I've done one, now on the second I thought I'd hang them on the fence so children can help themselves as they go past over easter.
