SuffolkVera Report 31 Mar 2026 17:18

It's been overcast all day with drizzle or light rain on and off. It's apparently 14 degrees now but I can't seem to get warm today. I had plans to clean through downstairs and do a bit of pottering in the garden but I haven't done any of it.

The friend that died, though not technically related, is very much a part of our wider family and has always come to all the family events. OH and I, together with our children and grandchildren, have always been closest to him so his death has hit us hardest. His sister, whom we know reasonably well, is his next of kin and will deal with funeral arrangements etc and all the contact with her family while I have agreed to contact all the members of our extended family. So today I have been emailing around and I have received some responses already. As some of them asked questions, that meant writing another email in reply. There have also been a couple of phone calls that took a while as they were from cousins I hadn't seen lately so they acted as a catch up chat. Now I am all emailed out! OMG, as I wrote that I suddenly remembered my cousins in Australia who knew our friend. One had worked in England for many years before going back to Oz on retirement and our friend had also visited the Aussie cousins a couple of times with my brother.

I have managed to read all your interesting posts. We all seem to have aches, pains, sore places, unwellness (is that a word?) and plain old tiredness. We don't want anymore so please look after yourselves and don't overdo it.

I have plenty of programmes recorded Mel I don’t need Iplayer.

I just walked round the garden and it is quite hot in the sun.

I have just had a parcel from Amazon it was a present from my sister a small box of Hotel Chocolat chocs.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Mar 2026 16:56

Anng why don't you use iplayer?? so you can watch other things while the football is on.

Iv'e been out in the garden trying to get my pond pump to work. When I take it all apart and turn it on the impella is whirring round but its not pumping I suppose that means more expensence as our Frank would say. I shall have to see if I can get my pond man down. All the bending over has given me my indigestion and pain in my throat which is what myrazole delt with now not taking them I have had it a few times. No where did I put the Rennie.

Well we went to Tesco's and Roys and I got the Sun Gold tomato seeds I wanted plus some Black Opal tomato seeds ,I haven't had those before so we'll see what they are like .

It seems so much milder out today , the wind has dropped and now the suns trying to shine .

Anng in the new TV book I see Emmerdale and Corrie are on Sunday again ,probably because there's football on again tonight .

Ann there's the new series of the Welsh Chapel dream on next Tuesday channel 4 eight o'clock and Château DIY on each afternoon on channel 4 at five o'clock.

Now don't go doing to much bending in the garden Anng. I haave been out on the patio this morning tidying up the plants there. Lots of dead bits needed cutting off and get the leaves out from behind the pots. A couple need repotting or more fresh compost put in the bottom of the pots. I find with this compost it sink a lot in the pots. Its all made up of your garden waste that goes in your green bins and munched up Christmas trees. The only plants I know of that like needles are strawberries.

Iv'e pulled that awful Bittercress plant out of the road its flowering already with great long spindley stems so that went in the dustbin where it can shower its seeds across all the rubbish instead of my garden.

I have the back door open as its warmer out than in and its nice to hear the birds singing. Its 13 degrees and the suns shining.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 31 Mar 2026 13:02

Sunny here and 16 degrees no wind.
I just spent half an hour gently pottering around the garden. I tidied and fed lasy years Geums in pots, took out all the dead leaves and added some compost where necessary lus feed. Then I started to sort the large planter where the Charlotte potatoes will go when I think it is going to stay warm enough.

The trouble with employing men to do the garden is that, like all men, they only see what they want to see. Or they forget to look! Where they have cut back the holly, ivy and honeysuckle down by the shed they have removed cuttings that are obvious. however when I looked more closely there weere two troughs that have just soil, no plants in them. they were both fully covered in cuttings from above them. I filled a weed humper completely with the clippings. Typical men!!. They are very good to me but if I didn't need their brawn I would not employ their brains. :-DAnyway that was a couple of gentle jobs done so I came in as I didn't want to overdo it. I might go out again this afternoon to have another potter.

Good morning all 10 degrees and quite bright and a slept reasonably well so feel a bit more 'with it' today.

The wound without stitches is itching like mad, I hope that is a sign of healing.

I have plenty of bits and pieces to keep me occupied but now I had better go and take my food bin in (Just seen the food truck) and have breakfast.

Vera I am so sorry at the sad news about your dear friend. It is so true that friends are the family we choose. your anniversary will have sad as well as happy memories for you now. How many years married? Belated good wishes for your anniversary though, that is still worth celebrating.

Morning all,

Its dull and dreary here today 10 degrees and to expect rain in three days but it looks a bit wet out there now.

Shopping comes today and I have three subs one is acceptable but the other are buns which there are only four of and another thing totally unacceptabel. This always seems to happen when the children are on holidays.

I was just about to write a post when I got the sad news that our dear, dear friend passed away earlier this evening and, tbh, I don't feel like posting now. It's our wedding anniversary - not a good way to end the day.

Well thats the third one on this thread with a punchture so the rest of us should be ok now I hope..........................................

I find I get "can't be bothered" a lot nowadays and its easier than doin g the actual thing.

I have been round at the chickens run, I gave them their corn and decided to see if I could do something with the bean netting I have over the top as it has been hanging down in places and I get my hat stuck in it when I go in the run to fill their water up.

After that I had a walk through the little wood and went round and picked up more sticks and strted to build a bonfire. I see the lovely red hazel tree has died so I need to ring Aaron next door and he will come and cut it all down for me and take what wood he wants. Did I tell you his wife is expecting twins? in June.

I had three little parcels to post today two went ok but the third one the machine which scans the QR code would'nt do it so it was two trips up the shop and I still did'nt get it done. The thing I am posting was only £3.50 so I expect I have spent that in diesel.

Strange dream Annx I wonder where the Mammoth tusk came from??? Had you been watching anything about them on the tv?

Don't know what toget for dinner tonight......................................... :-S

Raining here but we have had some sunshine.
I didn't have a very good night either ,I woke about two then laid there until about twenty to five then dozed off until half seven ,I got the fidgets in my left knee and like VeraI have to walk about to try to ease it .
I had a doze after lunch as I felt so tired again ,I have had a couple of good days really but felt odd again after lunch that's why I had ths doze ,I expect I've done to much

Gwyn the school's here finished last Friday for rwo weeks .

Anng the flowers are pretty and I'm sure they brightened your day .

Ann that was a strange dream lol but these dreams seem so real at the time don't they ,what nice polite little boys.

Mel the daffs will look lovely on the side ,my daffs are fading now and I've got just the one vase .

Son rang to say he thinks his gearbox is playing up on his car but the garage man can't look at it until next week so he's using Jake's then blow me when he went out this morning he had a puncture, when he looked there was a large screw in the tyre ,he has a chap coming out on Wednesday to fit a new one but he decided he'd have rwo new ones on the back as they were both wearing .

Annx Report 30 Mar 2026 17:10

Afternoon All,

I lost a post earlier after yet another interruption from you know who! It was sunny this morning and we got up early to go and have the breakfast baps with three items. I had a look at EWM who have had lots more nice tops in but not the one online Iliked and we looked in The Works. Two lovely young boys aged about 6 and 4 were there with what may have been grand and great grandmothers. The eldest stood at the side of me and waited politely till I realised he wanted to put something back and said 'thankyou' as soon as I moved and 'thankyou' again as he walked away. We saw them at the till and the younger boy was the same and said 'thankyou' to the cashier with no prompting. OH said 'that's how we were taught to respect other people and behave' and he's right.

I had a strange dream last night. I seemed to be at my previous house with the same neighbour and his garden was covered in water and draining into mine which also had water bubbling up from the ground. I was scooping a channel to direct the water towards the bottom of the garden away from the house and unearthed lots of broken china that I thought might be very old. I then unearthed a broken end of animal horn, but digging further it seemed to be the tip of an enormous tusk. I thought it might be a Mammoth's and was thinking I'd have to phone the city museum to come and look when OH woke me saying he'd switched the shower on for me!

I've had a text today to book my Spring covid jab so need to do that and the new waste food bin collection starts here tomorrow so I've been sticking house numbers on the little new bin this morning.

Your flowers look lovely with such bright, cheery colours AnnG, so thanks for the pic. I see Mel is going to pick some Daffs for inside. I think I often suffer from 'can't be bothered' too! I still need to clean the bathroom floor, but twisted a knee getting in the car this morning, so it can wait till tomorrow.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Mar 2026 15:11

Definitely have no energy today. I think the lack of sleep has caught up with me. I don't feel particularly tired more "can't be bothered". I have cleaned the cloakroom and put the bins out but that is all.

I do want to plant potatoes (I only have 6) But that entails with one lot of three filling the potaotbecket. and for the other three, the soild need to be a bit warmer so I will leave it until the end of the week I think. The tomatoes are about ready to come out of the seed trays into larger cells ot small individual pots.

For me Gwyn washing over the sink or bath is no good. I do have mixer taps in the bathroom and kitchen but the main thing with over the bath, (which is what I did when I had my leg wound. (I do lead an exciting life)) id that with the wound on my temple I am not supposed to put my head down, and even if I could the water would run towards the wound. doing it in the shower I can lean my head well back hand hand wet the front of my hair and let the water rinse off the rest as my head is back far enough. It takes a while as my hair is thick. While I am at son's daughter in law has booked me in for a wash and blow dry. My hairdresser has been avoiding that 'place' for months now so I know it can be done. a splash doesn't hurt, just have to avoid a soaking.

Morning girls,

Its getting brighter here than it was yesterday all day and its 9 degrees. I forgot to put my recycling box out yesterday so IU am hoping they don't come till a bit later on.

I am goijng to pick myself some daffs today as I have an empty vase on the windsill. Brighten the place up a bit.

I have another little parcel to do up and get up the post too. so hopefully see you all later.

Sorry you did'nt get much sleep last night Anng and hope its better tonight.

Gwyn in Kent Report 30 Mar 2026 09:12

Good morning,
I hope the comfort levels soon improve AnnG, so that you can get more rest. You did well to manage that hair wash without getting your wound wet.
I'm sure things will be much better by the time you want to go away.
I have a similar issue, in that I have been requested by the audiology team,to not get water in my ears, so I never wash my hair in the shower, only in the bathroom sink, where I can have more control of where the water goes. It works very well at home, but is more awkward if I go somewhere that has a mixer tap over the sink.

It's a lovely sunny day here and so much milder, now that bitter wind has dropped.
I wanted to pop something into school, before lessons started and it was quite pleasant to be out on such a nice Spring morning.
