Another busy morning!! Talked to daughter on the phone, then OH and I went out to buy some padlocks and security chain to thief proof Cas's car crate. This will mean we can take her out with us without the fear of her being stolen. This has become a worry these days as dog theft is a problem.
Then onto Waitrose to do a biggish shop, then into Malmesbury for the Chemist and a quick wander around.
Now I'm just about to take Cas out leaving OH to do the crate security!!

Ruby Report 26 Nov 2015 13:32

Hello all,

I got up and let Lucy out for a while and made a pot of tea. She's back in her basket and I'm back in bed with a cuppa.

I'm going to skip breakfast, because the luncheon feast is going to be at noon. I put my squash casserole together yesterday, so just have to bake it this morning. It'll still be hot when I get there. I used up the last 3 bags of squash from the freezer. It has chopped onions sautéed in butter, grated carrot, eggs, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, grated cheese, plenty of pepper and salt and half a bag of Pepp. Farm cornbread stuffing, then more cheese on top. Oh, and I also added a little pimiento pepper. My dessert just has to be warmed up.

Mel, Anne explained about the McDonald's line to you, I can see where it would sound odd. At this particular McDonalds, there are two lines for placing your order. They are staggered so then it merges into one line. When you place your order, the voice on the machine tells you how much it will be, and you then can have your money ready by the time you reach the first window. The person there already knows what the next several orders are. You then drive to the second window and your food is handed to you. It goes very quickly. I told my daughter about the man paying for our lunch and she said it is called "Paying it forward."
In turn, you can do something nice for someone.

The machine tensions can be very tricky Frank. You can make an adjustment as Mel said, I messed around with the bobbin tension one time, and had a horrible time getting it straight. It's a little screw on the bobbin case- don't mess with that.

That Thomas really is a corker Jane. You could write a children's story.

I am finally going to have my garage work started Monday and it should take them about a month. Meanwhile, son has sold his house and they should close next week. They are moving their bedroom furniture in here this weekend and they rent some pods to store the rest of their stuff for now. We were held up because of DHEC. Since I am having a bed in my new abode, they consider that to be another bedroom, and as such I am having to have a 100' extension dug for the septic lines. No matter that there have never been more than two people living here at one time. They allow for 2 people per bedroom, so 4 bedrooms would be 8 people, hence the septic line extension. Anyway, we now have the necessary permits, so will start Monday morning.

Black Friday starts today. It has always been the day after Thanksgiving, but now everyone are trying to jump the gun and open on the Thursday evening. There really are some good buys to be had, and many people enjoy that mad shopping spree. I shall give it a miss :-D

Must be off. I need to jump in the shower - well, hardly jump. I shall stagger in, holding on to the bars like grim death :-D
I'm going to move into the other bathroom after today because son and DIL weill have mine. I shall miss it - it's big and has two sinks, a huge bath which I never use, and a corner shower. Also the walk-in closet, and the loo is separate. The shower in the other bathroom is over the bath, so I hope I can lift my legs over. If not, they'll have to share for a while.

Tata for now. We have bright sunshine, but it's very cold out.

Yes Anne I would also like your address please?

Still hav'nt done the telly licience but I have till the 30th so the money can stay in the bank till then.

Need to get some chicken food either today or tomorrow so I know I am ok for that for another month.

I was wondering if Ros had knocked sopmething whilst putting the old machine away to throw the tention out. Glad the cough has gone for her as there's nothing worse than the tummy ache it causes when you are continuosly coughing apart from the sore throat it causes too.

I have written all my cards now except Anne's.

Time now to start to get the lunch then the rest of the afternoon is mine till I have to prepare dinner and I am not sure what to get yet.

Afternoon all,

We have lovely sun shine here with hardly a cloud in the sky ,it was clear first thing then all of a sudden about nine o'clock in came the fog it seem strange after the clear start to the day ,but by ten it was gone .

Oh Jane poor old Thomas i bet his name was mud last night !! ,perhaps you should let him in the garage now and again to flush them out :-D

Hope Ros has got the problem with the sewing machine sorted out , it's a devil just as she wants to sell it it goes wrong , mine has a little screw that you can tighten or loosen just under where the bobbin goes in and that changes the tension ,but as Mel said they do have the dial that has the numbers on that alters the tension but Ros will know that i'am sure ,don't know what else to say to help .
Glad to hear that her cough has eased .

So your getting stocked up for christmas then Anne , i have been getting bits for the freezer for a few weeks now and i have a box i fill with pickles , nuts and nibbles .

I must make a start on my christmas cards too ,i think i have everyones address except yours Anne ,perhaps you could PM me with it if you would like a card :-)

Morning all

Cloudy here today and it looks like it's been raining again. Dry at the moment but for how long, who knows??

Pleased to hear Ros isn't coughing anymore Frank, it sounds like the antibiotics are starting to work. Hope the sewing machine is sorted now.

So we'll hear soon what you've been making Mel, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics. Nice to hear from Maureen, it does sound like she's very busy at the moment. I pay my TV licence by direct debit, that way I don't forget to get it.

You've had a busy morning Anne, by the sounds of it. I must start making some room in my freezer ready for our turkey. I'm running so late this year, normally I've got everything almost done by now. At least all the present shopping is finished and wrapped up ready, apart from a couple of small things I need to get for Sandra and we are hoping to put the tree and decorations up soon too.

Glad to hear you had a nice time at the cinema yesterday Jane. So Thomas has caught the mouse now, that was handy, although bringing it indoors wasn't so good. At least you manage to get him and the mouse outside, so you don't need to worry anymore.

Nothing planned here for today, apart from the usual housework. Sandra is still asleep, she must of had a late night and OH is in work. I might have a route around for the Christmas cards I bought, then I can make a start on those.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Same day here as you have there I think Frank. Still but cloudy and what I call a secret day.

On mums machines there is a button on the front with numbers on it for the tension. Just mentioning it and also on one of her machines if it was threaded slightly wrong that would make the tension go loose on the back. sometimes its just such a silly little thing that you forget after using a new machine.

All stocked up for Christmas then Anne. I bought my turkey crown last week and it is stowed away in the freezer, the only other thing I need to get is a nice piece of beef and a small gammon. That should keep us two going.

Must pay the telly licience so see you all later.

Morning All

I'm pleased to hear Ros has stopped coughing Frank, I hope the sewing machine sells now that the problem has been fixed

Jane, Thomas the Terminator is a busy boy.I have only had one dead body so far this week, it was either a small rat or a very large mouse.

Good luck with your viewing Gill.

I have only just finished breakfast, I had the Sainsbury delivery at 8 it was a larger then normal one as it included a lot of Christmas food all with long sell by dates, so it took a while to put it all away

I also had the washing machine on and then the tumble drier so that lots all in the airing cupboard as none of it needed ironing.

It made me think how lucky we are today compared to a couple of generations or so ago,no central heating hot water or electricity in a lot of cases plus maybe an outside loo. No National Health or pensions. Apart from all that I think on the whole they were probably a lot more contented

I'm shortly taking Amy for her walk, she's fast asleep at the moment .

Morning Folks, Evening Kim,

Very still type of morning here. Cloudy but no breeze.

Mandy, Ros has tried both Metal and Plastic bobbing's and still gets the same result. Margaret was a sewing teacher, so with a bit of luck she will be able to sort out the problem.

Oh what a pleasure you have Jane having Thomas around to keep you so active and alert. :-D :-D :-D As David said He's bringing you presents. My cat did it all the time. What a little treasure he is (NOT) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Nice to hear that Maureen hasn't lost her touch in the building department. I think she is competent enough to do a total rebuild on a house on her own <3 <3 <3
It there much more to do on your Sons house Maureen ??

All tucked up in bed by 11.00 pm. Slept right through till 6.00 am. Usual trip to the bathroom, then I laid till 7.30 and got up and had my two big COT Ros was out in the lounge by 8.00 So all early birds today.

SHE'S STOPPED COUGHING !!!! So I think the Antibiotics are doing their job !!

I think Tony next door has given up SMOKING. !!!! I haven't seen or heard him on his Patio. He has to ring the doctor for the results of his X RAY. I must remember to ask him.

What are you all up to today then ?? No plans this end. Apart from sorting What to have for Dinner tonight. Decision's I have to make every day. When I ask Ros what she fancies, it's always the same answer. WHATEVER COMES OUT FIRST.

Good morning all. I hope Ros' coughs better Frank and that Jane and Mel's pain has eased off. I used a chiropractioner a couple of times in the past, freeing trapped nerves. Treat me like Mick McManus but it worked. Not sure if they can help with arthritis though. And Ann's knees I remember have been giving her gyp, hope they're OK this morning. Bet you're enjoying your central heating now Gill, it's freezing outside. I got a 7 year guarantee on my new boiler, hope I'm out last it :-D

Thomas was bringing you a pressie Jane, a trophy lol

MOUSE UPDATE

Well what fun and games we have just had (NOT). I stepped into the garage to get a pouch of cat food and Thomas followed me in as he usually does. Then he suddenly pounced and grabbbed a mouse !!!!!!.He then ran into the lounge with it and dropped it. The chase then began !!!!!!!!.Finally he caught it again and I have managedto shoo him out the back door with mouse in his mouth.I had a look out and he was just finishing the last bits :-S :-S..Now whether this was the mouse that we had I don't know.Or it may be a different one that has got inthe garage throught he gaps at the side of the garage door.Tomorrow the garage will be baited :-)

Anne we live in Kettering which is about 16/18 miles from Northampton. The film was very good and lunch nice too :-D.Chris is going on his own for the next film (I think on Monday) to see Steve Jobs.I don't fancy that one.

Sorry you had another disappointing viewing Gill.It must get very disheartening as you build your hopes up and then get them dashed .Lets hope the next one wll be a positive oe for you.

Mandy the mouse traps are still there and not been visited .But I shall leave them there for now just in case.

I'm sure Ros will manage to get the stitch tension thing sorted Frank and her machine will be soon off her hands :-D

I am feeling so weary tonight so I don't think it will be long before I go up.I might just have some cereal and a Banana.I think Chris too might not be up late.He has had a very painful shoulder again today. It feels so crunchy :-S
Thomas had me up at 4.50 this morning :-| :-|.Then I went back to bed and read my kindle for about half an hour before dropping off again.

It feels very cold outside now. When Janice and I were out on Monday we noticed that the gritter had been out and about .

Nice to hear from Maureen :-D :-D..I see she is as busy as ever wearing that builders hat of hers :-D :-D

Signing out now .I just need to put the cats litter tray in place and top up his food dish.

Evening all,

It's been a really nice day here with lots of sunshine but it was still quite chilly out .

Nothing exciting been happening here ,just been doing the usual everyday jobs .

Frank has Ros changed the bobbins in the machine ?,i know my stitching was loose at the back of the my sewing and it was the bobbin ,when i changed it it stitched fine again .

Glad your pain feels a little easier today Mel ,sounds as if you've just got to give it time .

Sorry to hear that yesterdays viewing didn't go so well Gill, fingers crossed for the next one .

Ruby, how nice was that having the meal paid for by a stranger ,i think it's sounds a lovely thing to do ,just a shame he had gone before you could thank him.
I remember reading some where that in certain coffee shops when you buy a coffee you can leave money for another cup which is then used to buy a coffee for some one who hasn't the money to buy one .

Oh that was nice to hear from Maureen Mel, she did reply to my email last week saying she was sorry to hear about poor old Toby .

Jane i meant to ask did you catch the mouse ?

Just had this from our Maureen:-

Hi Mel,

I am so sorry it has taken me this long to thank you for my birthday card the days just seem to fly by, no sooner am I up than it's night and time for bed again. I haven't even had time to start the Christmas cards, I seem to be away most weekends at sons or daughters.

I am back at sons tomorrow as he is putting in a new kitchen so I will have my builders hat on. Will take Reggie with me, poor old Oscar, all he wants is a bit of peace so he should be happy on his own for a few days away from this crazy kitten who is forever taking running jumps and pouncing on him.

Say hello to everyone on the thread for me and thank them for all their birthday wishes.

Hope you and Mr. Mel are keeping well.

Love Maureen

Would you believe it. The stich tension on the back of the material is all loose and Ros can't seem to work out why. It has never happened before. She will have a word with Margaret, and when sorted will speak with the Woman again. She also go to the Choir practice so Ros can have a word with her tomorrow night, if she goes.

I'm sure you will get the Wreaths sorted Mel, JUST TAKE YOUR TIME. PLEASE <3 <3 <3 We don't want you laid up. :-0 :-0.

Better get started on dinner/tea. See you later.

The suns been out here most of the morning but there is a strong wind and now it has come over cloudy.

Our friends popped in this morning to see if we wanted to go with them for lunch. Oh was having 40 winks and I had been talking to them for ages before I went to see what he was up to as they had parked the car right outside his study. He came out then and I made coffee which woke him up a bit and we all had a good natter.

Back and etc is a bit easier today and if I stay standing up and walking about it seems not to hurt so much. It is when I sit here at the pc or the table that it hurts when I try to rise.

Must get on with more card writing too as I have so many to send now. Also have to sort something else out so I can then let you know what I have been making.

The washing has gone round the rads and not put out as we have had rain showers inbetween the sun.
