Yard all nice and clean now. The refuse is on our muck heap and will be taken away by our local farmer to put on his field. We are lifting some for the roses and the veg patch. So all in all a good result!!
I agree with you Frank over ME time, sometimes being under each other's feet 24/7 can get a bit much, particularly in a small space!! Our bedroom is well away from the living area, so we've put a small easy chair in there and it doubles up as another living room. The Xmas present idea works well for us, but not for every one, each to his own. Mind you , Ros is a lucky woman as you are very generous, also very good about the house! OH isn't too bad, but not as good as you!!!
It's much colder here and a raw wind. Lazy afternoon for us, with porridge and eggs for supper.

Of course you can still buy then Frank, heck of a price these days.
When I was only about 12 or 13 years of age I started smoking Woodbines.
Foolish waste of money I think now (too late) I tried Players, Senior Service, Embassy.
By the time quit the smoking habit in1996 I was smoking Silk Cut, three pound seventy two a packet they were nearly twenty years ago. An expensive habit in more ways than one. The government won't even let you grow your own. It's too profitable to risk competition lol

Magpie, OH and I have had our own rooms for yonks. We seem like passing strangers now. Wasn't that a Billy Eckstine song lol happy days <3 :-P

I think Jane shoudl just call her house "The Leeks" that would'nt give the game away and make people think.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Who's a cleaver girl then ??? Glad everything went well for you Ann.

I like to spend time on my own, with my own programmes, in the conservatory. It has a radiator and I have a back up Halogen heater if I need it. I think it's good to have "ME" time, as being together 24 --7 can be a bit of a strain. I would love to buy like you Liz, but Ros likes to buy each other presents. This year she has had a new phone, watch, sewing machine all before Christmas. I have bought her a new pair of slippers and a opal and diamond ring in her size (R) so should fit. to unpack on the day.

Burnt spuds, What a pong. It seems to hang around for days. Mandy you might try boiling the saucepan with washing power in the water. I have cleaned saucepans with this in the passed.

"LEAKY HOLLOW" might be A GOOD NAME FOR YOUR HOUSE JANE (sorry) caught the cap button !! When we had our leak last Oct. It was the heat transformer that had leaked and cosy over £400.00 to replace. (PARTS ONLY)

David I loved the association of SNUFF to that of 10 woodbines. (Can you still get them ??) I remember when you could buy them in FIVES in a little paper packet back in the 50s. Glad you are feeling a bit better this morning.

Ros went to the car this morning and her front nearside tyre is very low. So I have told her to go steady to the garage and put in 28 lbs psi. In the mean time I have bought an inflator from Ebay. that works off the cigarette lighter. No more problems with that again.

I see Mel, is in cleaning mode. !!! How are you getting on with your Wreaths this year my love ?? How many are you making ??

Nothing sort of day here, It looks very cold outside, the wind is gathering speed with dark clouds all around. What a wonderful place England is in the Winter !!!!

I'm sitting here like a slippery monkey, :-D :-D :-D :-D I have covered my legs in the cream from the doctors, it seems to be helping, but I am not allowed to cover by legs with bandages or anything, so my trousers are going to get greasy inside the legs. More washing for Ros.

Yes I wonder where Gill has got too ??

Morning all and evening everyone else,

Dull and dreary here and hardy light and its raining that fine stuff.

Only have to go up the shop for my Saturday paper and then the rest of the day I can please myself apart from getting lunch and dinner tonight is easy as we have fillet steak.

May do some presetn up for my two little boys next door. I do them both a Christmas Stocking I bought last year and am filling them again this year. Their mum gives me the stockings back when I ask her otherwise I would most probably lose them.

Well that was the last program of The Coroner yesterday and I must say I did enjoy them. I watched them in the evenings whilst on my own so did'nt have to put up withlong comments from oh and miss bits they were talking about.

Whats it like at yours today??

O must say when you find out what I was making by recieving a small parcel please wait till the others have them too. They are going to Mandy, Ann, Jane and Gill. Made one for myself and put it somewhere safe and now I cn't find it for the life of me so have to amke another, AND PUT IT IN SIGHT...........where I CAN FIND IT.

Ann to say the least I am impressed!!! David, There is a school of thought that a TV in the bedroom is detrimental to married life ;-) :-S. At our age I'm not sure that's relevant any more! Give me a good film any day!!!
Weather a bit iffy here! OH is clearing Merlins yard of all the woodchip, ready to put some fresh down at some stage. New woodburner is being collected on Monday and hopefully fitted next weekend. We need some new stainless chimney bits which can't be ordered till it's here,(size etc) so it may take a day or two.
OH is updating TomTom!!
Nothing else happening here, so shall spend some time on my first Tudor family!!

Here's a memory. one of my Aunts took snuff. Now that's good way to clear your tubes. One snuff must equal s 10 Woodbines :-D :-P

Good morning all. Feeling more with it this morning. Slept from 10 -6 unbroken.

My sinuses were blocked and I'd a yucky throat, very unpleasant. I had curry and chips and a sarnie onion in it later, seems to have helped, or I'm dreaming.

How can a TV in the bedroom be not good for you? I spend most of every day in the bed room. I can assure the readers if it wasn't for the TV and PC in close proximity I might be considered barking by now, or stir crazy :)

Funny things central heating systems Jane, if they are going to fail it's always in the winter when they are needed. Hope yours is fixed soon.

O no not another leak Jane. I can understand how you feel having so many leaks in the past. The boiler is not that old is it?

Ann sounds like you had a lovely day giving that talk and a nice surprise with the bunch of flowers. What was in the bouquet?

Liz that was a good present for the both of you and a good idea to get something together. I rememberyou saying before you get something you both want or in the sale after Christmas.

I did spag bol tonight and whilst it was cooking I cleaned my small dresser on the work surface with all my chicken egg cups on it. It takes a while as there are so many on there but now it is all clean for Christmas.

No Gill today. Did she say hubby had a couple of days off? Thursday and Friday??

Signing out now so see you all in the morning.

Oh I was slow submitting my post so missed yours Liz and Jane.

That sounds a good idea for your present Liz. I know they say it isn't good to have tv in the bedroom but it is so useful at times like you say and saves any friction which also isn't good!! We have a tv in the bedroom and a sky box and dvd player, but it would be better if it had a built in dvd player......less clutter!

Yes Jane I think I have been on a high since! lol. OH is quite chuffed that I did it too! Fancy you having yet another leak!! We'll have to think of an name for your house with all this water! I hope it's a simple job this time.

Oh Mandy, I have done that with potatoes before too. It doesn't half pong everywhere. I have a few spare saucepans here !!! lol. :-)

Off to bed now.......see you all tomorrow....night night. <3

Jane Report 27 Nov 2015 20:19

So spuds and pan in the bin then Mandy!!!!!...That sounded like a close call :-S.Something catching fire like that scares the pants off me.Do you remember when my shopping bag caught fire on the hob?? I had cleaned the kitchen floor and rested the mop against the cooker. It slipped and knocked one of the knobs to one of the rings .
I had to chuck Chester out in the garden because of all the smoke and flames :-S :-S
It still gives me goose bumps now thinking about it.

Dinner ready now.

Oh Well done Ann <3 when you said interviewed i bet you didn't think it would be for the radio and on the internet and that you would have the cameras filming you .
You must let us know when it's on so we can have a little peek .
The flowers were a nice touch too.

Well the family have all gone now and we're worn out .

We sat in the lounge before the family came and hubby had lit the woodburner ,i said to hubby can you smell smoke ? ,we thought it was coming from the fire ,i happened to go through to the kitchen and good job i did i had turned the potaoes on to par boil and had forgotten them !! you couldn't see in the kitchen for steam ,the potatoes had stuck to the bottom of the pan and any longer and they would have caught fire !! :-S
I quickly took the pan off the heat and stood it on one of my wooden chopping boards ,the bottom of the pan was so hot it burnt the board !! so i had to stand it outside on the patio i think you can safely say that pan has had it !!

Oh no Jane not more leaks !! i suppose one good thing is that it's in the garage and not in the house ,hope it's not going to be to big a job for the chap tomorrow.

Afternoon All,

Yes it is a huge step for little ones starting school. It will help if Matteo sees a few familiar faces. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Matteo.

David I hope you aren't coming down with a cough/ cold thing. Keep warm, rest up and pop in here when you feel like it! :-)

It's good you found how to fix the machine Frank, but what a shame it happened just as you were selling it and that the lady has changed her mind. :-S Back to square 1 and start again I expect.

Jane I hope the lady managed to get into her car. I always worry about that happening too!!

Well, I've had quite a day! I got to the hospital a bit early and found out that another lady was also being interviewed and we were to sit together at the front in the presentation as we were to be filmed watching it!!!!! Then we would have lunch (a really delicious spread of sarnies, mini quiches, bowls of different types of dressed salad including a bean salad and coleslaw, followed by fresh pineapple wedges, melon and grapes, then cakes) and then we would be interviewed together in another room. Joe did his presentation which was very good and it was interesting to hear all the results from the study. I was a tad nervous by then anticipating the interview, so didn't have very much lunch and was careful not to get any down my top!! Well I was right to be a bit suspicious as the next thing was we were being 'wired for sound' and seated at a table to be interviewed with 2 film cameras trained on us!!! After the interview, the cameras followed us into the treatment room and we were filmed describing what happened in there on the study days. Then they took still photos of us individually and together. They seemed very pleased how it all went, which is a relief, but most of it will be edited out as there will only be 3 minutes kept. Joe and the nurse also had seperate interviews. We've been told it will go on the internet for viewing for a month, may be televised and may be on the radio and in which case would we be willing to speak on radio? Then just as we went, Joe gave us a lovely bouquet of flowers each to thank us which was a nice surprise. Now I've done something like that once I think it would be less scary another time. I certainly never expected I'd be doing anything like this when I retired. Still, I couldn't have anticipated having lunch at Luton Hoo bought for me from meeting friends on the internet either. :-) Life can be full of surprises. :-)

We went out when I got home and OH has bought me a 'Biggles' hat like his only it is pale grey and fluffy with pompoms! lol. It will be ideal if it is a cold and windy winter. I feel shattered now so it will be an early night for me.

Could someone send me Ruby's address too? :-)

What is it with our house for LEAKS !!!!..I have lost count now over the last 3 yrs as to how many we have had .From minor to major ones.
That sounds a very good present Liz :-D..We don't have a tv in our bedroom(much to my disgust.(Chris won't have one).I either watch things on my laptop with earphones or I go into Hannahs bed and watch the tv in there .

The boiler is dripping away nicely into a bucket at the moment. :-S :-S

Chris has just told me he has seen that Asda Petrol Stations are selling at under £1 for Black Friday.....I need petrol tomorrow :-D...Will check that our Kettering one is one doing that.If it is I bet the queue will be so long.

magpie Report 27 Nov 2015 17:19

Oh dear Jane what a nuisance, you do seem to have a perchance for 'water'!!
We've bought our Xmas present! We don't buy for each other individually any more; our finances are all out of the same account, and there's nothing either of us particularly wants, so we buy something that we wouldn't normally buy but that we both want. This year we've bought a new tv for the bedroom with a built in DVD. I particularly wanted this as if something comes out on DVD that only I like, (its usually me!) I can go down to the bedroom and watch in peace, and OH can watch something else also in peace!! So I'm well chuffed! OH is setting it up as we speak!
Wind getting up here, nothing else doing, apart from supper!
