Well, we had a really lovely evening. Son arrived about 7pm, so we were able to have a birthday drink before supper. The roast duck etc went down very well every last morsel was devoured!! After supper we got some family photos out to see how we all looked years ago which was a bit sobering! and he trotted off about 10pm as he was going straight from here down to Surrey for Xmas.
Glad your birthday went well Frank and that you enjoyed your surprise lunch!!
Thank you Ann for the photos, they're lovely, and the meteorite rock very interesting.
It's a lovely sunny morning here, so we're planning a good walk to blow away any cobwebs!! You could hear the rain beating down and the wind howling in the night though. Those poor people in Cumbria, it's just heart breaking, I do feel sorry for them.

Was it a BIG birthday this time then Frank? I'd have done you a 'special' card if I'd realised. Hope you haven't nodded off in Ros's singing. :-) With all your Christmas and Birthday cards, your place must look like a card shop now.

It shut him up chattering for quite a while Mandy!! :-D I'd only breathed on the accelerator but I think he thought he was going to join the astronauts on the ISS!!! He's not a good passenger at the best of times and he's a bit of a pain in the car at the moment, looking round at what it has and hasn't got, pressing things to see what they do. The other day he was fiddling with something and I told him to stop whatever he was doing before he did something he couldn't put back! A little voice said 'I think I already have'. :-S lol. I like your hubby's comment about the tyres!! :-) Have you had any more news about Neil?

Mel, I'm sure to get him back in time! Some of those dinners aren't bad are they when you want something you can do quickly. Have you finished the wreaths now? I don't think I'll be doing any baking this year. OH even picked up cooked sausage rolls as well as mince pies today and told me to have a year off from making them! I do think the homemade ones taste far better though so might do a few.

That's good you've got your decorations up Liz so the place looks Christmassy for your son coming. I hope you have a nice evening.

Jane that's jammy getting 2 PPI payouts and a nice surprise too!! Any idea what kind of suite you'd like? A bit of wind won't put hubby off if there's footie to be watched. He travelled to Aylesbury daily in all weathers for a couple of years when he was based there in his job. Yes I was thinking about those poor folk in Cumbria with more rain to add to their troubles.

Things are moving forward nicely then Ruby with your alterations. I expect it will be nice to have a bit of company. I did squish my coat up and lean on it yesterday, so a small cushion might be useful to try as you suggest. It has been much better again today so hopefully it will carry on that way. A Merry Christmas to you too!

:-) <3

Thank you for your card Shirl. <3 I always look forward to seeing the stamps on your envelopes too. :-)

Evening all,

I seem to have been on the go all day ,it was also hair cut day .
We went to sons first thing ,hubby stayed with DIL while son and i nipped to Lidls for a few bits i was quite surprised how quiet it was no trouble to park there were quite a few spaces on the car park.
Left there and went to the farm for Eggs and then home ,i got the hoover out and the brush didn't seem to be going round hubby had a look and the belt was split so i then nipped out again to buy a new one and hubby put that on so it's now working again .

Hi Ruby ,all go at yours then , i hope the weather is good for you so the building work will soon be finished and you can move in to your new abode in the new year .
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas too.

Frank it must be a bit hard to know what to do , i don't suppose Jan will feel like having too much company she might want to just have a quiet Christmas as she's feeling poorly ,and you and Ros don't really want to catch any thing either .
Glad you enjoyd your birthday meal even if you did have to pay :-D
Enjoy the choir tonight and don't you go falling asleep while Ros is singing !! :-0 :-D
Well done to Lewis on passing the theory part of his Driving Test .

LOL Ann what are you doing scaring OH like that :-D was he griping on for dear life :-D hubby would probably say to me leave some rubber on the tyres :-D

Enjoy your evening with son tonight Liz .

A busy baking day for you then tomorrow Mel, i need to get some baking done ,DIL and family like those little Viennese Fingers dipped in chocolate so i'll get those done and i might get round to making some sausage rolls too .

Glad to hear you had a good nights sleep Gill you must feel better today for it .
Is Sandra getting excited ? Will she help with your baking ? i can remember helping my mum doing the christmas cooking ,i was allowed to put the pastry top on the mince pies and put the little cut in the top to let the steam out .

That was a nice surprise Jane getting the PPI money ,i see you have a few things in mind already to spend it on :-D
Hubby's knee and ankle are just the same , i did wonder if he might have Gout the same as son gets ,i hope he can make it to the panto with the grandchildren there is quite a few steps to go up .

Evening all,

Great that you are looking forward to your company Liz. The results have taken a lot of your mind.

Thanks everybody for your birthday greetings. What good friends I have. <3 <3 <3

We tried a new place this afternoon. The "WALTER TULL" named after a football player who played for Northampton, years ago.

The Menu was a lot of Steaks and burgers. Ros had a steak, with pepper sauce, skinny chips, salad. Onion rings Mushrooms and Tomato. I stuck with my old favourite F & C with Tatar sauce, mushy peas and chips. All washed down with a pint of best bitter. Ros had a Tomato Juice.

Ann in another four years it will be 4 x 21 lol Trust your OH to make a comment about your driving. It's horrible when you can't sleep at night. The way I feel I could drop off now. Hope I stay awake this evening at the choir concert. ;-) ;-) ;-)

So nice to hear from Ruby. Good luck with the alterations, and I am so pleased you are enjoying having company XXX

Yes Gill it was a nice thought, even though I ended up paying.

Lewis passed his theory part of his Driving Test today. We have sent a congratulation card this afternoon..

Better see about freshening up, ready to go down with Ros to the Church, as she recons it will be full early. So think of me sat in a COLD CHURCH for a few hours.

Afternoon all

Hi Ruby.It will be nice to have the family around especially a little youngster :-D.I expect hw will be into all sorts lol..I do hope that it is not going to take too long before you are settled in your new Quarters :-D..You have rain we have gales. It certainly isn't pleasant here today. Now I see some of Cumbria has had more flooding again :-(..It is ging to be a very hard Christmas there for so many families.

Well Frank.I am not sure what to suggest really.I think if Jan has Pneumonia she might not feel like having a house full right now.She will be feeling pretty rough I imagine.I think if it was me I would probably not go .What a dilemma for you.Especially so close to you going.
I hope you have enjoyed your Birthday lunch.Where did you go? And a treat in store tonight with Ros in the choir :-D :-D..Hope the seats are comfy. You might need a cushion :-S

So the 'Old Bat ' has been taking OH on a bit of a ride LOL .Ann he is brave going to a match in this wind. It's dreadful.

Liz Birthday wishes too today to your Son.I bet he will be very impressed with all your decs :-D :-D..Have a lovely evening.

Mandy how is OH today.I bet his painful ankle is to do with the way he has to walk with the bad knee :-S

I haven't felt so worried today.I think because I haven't been feeling woozy .

Gill that was a really good sleep you had :-D :-D..I expect you feel your batteries have had a good recharge :-D..All ready for doing your baking now. What will you be baking besides cakes?

We had a very nice surprise in the post today.Another PPI result :-D :-D.It was from Santander after Chris applied for a second time.I think they think if you are turned down once they hope you don't apply again..Well thank goodness we did.
It will be a new Suite for the lounge now and I will start looking at holidays :-D :-D
I have just been told not to get carried away LOL
Now would I ever do that
;-) ;-)..Not on your Nelly :-D

Hannah has just gone to the Gym for a session with a couple of her girlfriends. She has been working all day on the laptop.
When she gets back it is Southern Fried Chicken ,Parmentier Potatoes and a Butternut and Parsnip Bake.I think I might use up the Asparagus in the fridge too.

Unloaded at last.........

Did the aunty Joy bit and stayed and had a cuppa a mince pie and a home made scone and by the time we had had a good old natter it was 5 to twelve so I took her down the town to where she wanted to be dropped off on the quay as she wanted to go to the bank before doing her stint in the charity shop.

Thanks to Shirl for your card which arrived while I was out.

Cheeky chap that Gordon calling you an old bat!! I hope you got him back Ann.

Glad you had a good sleep last night Gill. You must have needed it to sleep like that.

Chicken Korma for oh tonight with nann and onion bhajis and I havea roast beef dinner which I tried the other week and it was ok so no cooking for me tonight.

I am going to have a baking day tomorrow as I like to make sausage rolls and our own mince pies which keep him quiet as he helps himslef whenever he wants. I still hav'nt done the Christmas cake either so may do that as well and one of Mandy's lemon cakes. We will see what I get done as Di is calling in in the morning at 10.30am too as we have some wood for her for the fire.

Shall think of you Ruby while we eat our pud! <3 Can you not eat it?

Thank you Ruby for your kind words, we both feel a lot better today although we still have the PSA problem to sort out - after christmas!!!
Really looking forward to this evening, so better get on!

Afternoon All,

<3 <3 :-D :-DHAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK :-D :-D <3 <3 <3

Twenty one again......and again!! ;-) Hope you are enjoying yourself and that your meal out is nice and that the concert is good! It will be nice to watch it with Ros taking part. It's a shame about Jan though and I expect she won't be up to doing too much over Christmas as those things can leave you exhausted for weeks.

I'm glad you got a really good night's sleep Gill, you really needed it. I was the opposite last night and lay awake till 4.00am. :-S So I wasn't up early this morning like I planned but we have still done some shopping and called and got my prescription from the chemist (why do they prescribe so stuff you take runs out just before Christmas?) It was nowhere near as busy as I expected so there is just veg and salad to get from the farm shop in the morning now and the Turkey to collect Christmas Eve. We went in my car this morning and I shot across the island just down the road as the lanes merge into one the other side and I needed to get ahead not to be squeezed out. OH's tummy got left behind and he said 'OMG it's like being in the Batmobile then grinned and added 'with the old bat behind the wheel!!!!' The cheeky bounder!!! He's off to a match somewhere near Aylesbury at teatime today. He'll be coming home soaked if the weather forecast is right. :-S

Good morning to all, from a very rainy South Carolina.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Frank <3 It sounds as though you're going to have a lovely day.

Thank you to everyone who sent me a lovely Christmas card. I have all my cards hanging over the curtain rods. It keeps them out of the baby's way. and I have little space for them anywhere else. We are in quite a muddle here. The builders are getting on with my new abode in the garage :-D They are hoping to be through by the New Year. We can't get the final inspection though until the septic lines have been extended, and that will depend on the weather. I have packed much of my stuff into boxes so that son and dil can have space. Great grandson comes every day and I am so enjoying him. In fact, I'm enjoying having their company. The house needed some life.

So glad your news was good Liz. We work ourselves up into a tizzy don't we? I always try so hard not to worry because I know it doesn't help.

That goes for you too Jane. No worrying until you know you've something to worry about. I know that some of you perhaps don't believe in prayer, but it really does help to talk to God. If you have done everything you possibly can to cope with something, and it still weighs heavily on your shoulders, then you just turn it over to God and ask Him take care of it for you, however it turns out. Worry will weigh us down until we can no longer cope.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Relax a bit Gill and enjoy the season.
Ann, have you tried a small cushion in the small of your back?

Our Christmas will be very different this year, being in such a muddle, but we shall enjoy it. I've been invited out for lunch today, and tomorrow am going out for lunch again and then going to visit some people who are unable to get out. due to physical disabilities. Christmas Eve I will go to a carol service at church. That means a lot to me,

Think of me when you tuck in to your Christmas pud. :-D :-D :-D

Very belated Happy Birthday to Anne <3

Love to all <3 <3 <3

Just going to start my hair now, then watch a few programmes I've recorded, to free up some space on my planner for everything Sandra wants me to record over Christmas, then I can put those on the planner for her.

What a nice surprise, Ros is taking me out for lunch. We won't go till about 2.00 pm. Then she won't want anything before choir concert. They have to be there for 6.15. I will walk down about 7.00 so as to get a seat. They expect it to be packed, and I can't stand through it.

That wind is blowing like mad, neighbour across the road has had her bin blown away. I have been to retrieve it. Must keep an eye out for the food wagon, those little bins with fly away.

Coffee just arrived. <3 <3 <3

Good Morning to you all, Evening I'm,

Thank you all for your cards and good wishes.. I have just had a call from Bill's wife (FRAN) His birthday is the same date as mine, so she never forgets

I have had FORTEEN cards so far and the postman hasn't been yet.

Had a nice card from LEWIS, but nothing from his M & D.

Jan has been very poorly with a bad cough and having difficulty to breath. She went to the doctors yesterday afternoon and she has Phemonia (sp) can't find it in the dictionary :-D :-D :-D :-D So what's happening about Christmas I don't know.
Especially as there is a six month old baby, and FOUR OLD PEOPLE. me included. What advise does Nurse Jane OFFER.??? PLEASE.

Choir concert tonight. The women are all dressing in black trousers and top with a red scarf. The men in dinner suits with bow ties. So they should look the part. !! I'll let you know ABOUT THE SINGING tomorrow ;-) ;-) ;-).

Black bin is blowing down the road, so I have to go and get it.

Sorry Liz, I was late submitting my last post and missed yours. I'm so glad for you that the news was good!! <3 <3 OH was told he had diverticulitis when he had his last colonoscopy. Apparently after age 60 about half of us have some degree of it. It seems the PSA result isn't of concern to the docs either so now you can enjoy Christmas as the others say.

Jane, when OH started to get his migraines with the visual effects years ago he felt the same and thought something 'more' must be happening in his head, especially when he started to get balance problems as well. They never found anything wrong, nor when he started to get numbness either so I think it may all be to do with the migraines. It's only natural to be concerned and preoccupied till you get your scan and they check you out thoroughly. I hope it comes through quickly for you now.

I went out in my car this afternoon and my back is a bit worse again!! I've since lowered the seat a bit now I'm more used to it and so it's easier to reach the adjuster. I'll see if that helps!! :-S

That turned out well then Gill with you liking pink too. :-) I'm glad your headache has cleared now, but try and relax a bit when you can or you'll run out of steam.

Anne, I'm much the same as you and Liz when it comes to HW. Hygeine is very important to me in the kitchen and bathroom, but I can always put off dusting till another day!! Every 3 months or so I pull the furniture forward and have a thorough clean everywhere and in between it makes do with far less as and when I get round to it!! Mandy that is so true, how much more quickly we could whizz through jobs when we were younger!! Now there always seems to be something I'd rather do as well. I've been toying with getting the veg too and may pop to the farm shop tomorrow for mine. OH has decided he does want brussels Christmas day after all. Your OH must be very uncomfortable with his knee and ankle hurting so much. You dread having to move when you know it will hurt. I hope they get him sorted out quickly.

Frank I'm glad the meal went well. I expect they've missed your cooking!! :-) I bet they were a bit apprehensive how things would go so don't make your mind up on it yet, it's early days as they say. Yes you deserve a good rest tomorrow and Gill is right about how handy it must be to live with a good cook!! :-)

Off to bed now as it's another early start tomorrow before it gets busy!! It was pitch dark this morning when OH woke me. Night night all xx
