We had a look at the local police site Jane and it seems that at 9.50pm last night there was a collision in the village involving 3 cars and a caravan. I also looked at the local paper site as we thought there must be more to it than that.
http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/road-near-Foxhunter-Island-Enderby-closed-crash/story-28430295-detail/story.html If you click on the 5 comments some are suggesting the caravan was rammed and that firearms were involved! A 20 year old has been arrested. The road was still closed tonight so we took a walk up to the village as far as you could go and they were sweeping the road where there is a junction to the left and a truck was taking away a damaged car.
This afternoon when I went out there were black plumes of smoke in the sky over the city and apparently some old mill buildings were on fire. It looked as if it was near the Space centre at first.
You are on the ball looking at holidays Jane, but you are right about the best hotels being booked up first. We went to Annecy by train a few years ago. I remember it being very fast over lots of open countryside. I expect we'll go to Cornwall again this year, but I'm not sure when this time. We'd also like to go to Scotland and do some of the picturesque rail trips, but I don't want to go when the midges are about! I also want to go to Norfolk for a few days to see the sawmill and those nice gardens where Fitz went.
The exercises are a good idea David.....helps keep the flexibility you have and strengthens the muscles. I still do leg raises in bed at night!! lol. It helps keep the muscles strong round my dodgy knees. :-)

When I'm in the bathroom or in the kitchen watching the kettle boil I move the injured leg backward and forward several times. Also when laid down I do half sit ups twisting middle to the left then to the right, elbow to knee, works wonders, soon have a 6 pack. I hope Frank and Gill both have a good nights sleep, same apples to the rest of you, it works wonders. Had the strangest dream last night, Driving and walking :-)

How did that happen Mel? Nothing I do comes up on Chris's emails and vice versa .You must have a different kind of set up. Crikey Liz I bet you are counting your lucky stars that you moved when you did.At least you have no worries now about being flooded and no more trouble with neighbours !!!!
David you have reminded me I need to do Frontline on Thomas. That will be tomorrows horrible job :-S

Oh dear Mel! I think we all have days like that!!! How did the site you joined end up on your OH's P.C? Anything I join only ever comes up on mine, OH's only comes up on his. OH hasn't a clue what I'm up to on line, nor me on his come to that !!!! Can't you make yours individual?! Quite windy now, and a bit chilly! Supper in the oven, rice in the steamer and we're both extremely thankful that we are not affected by flooding as we potentially were in our last house.

Yes i do think you have to keep moving to keep 'moving'.Not easy though in your case David.
Ooh Ann I wonder what has happened by you?Is it worth googling your local radio station for up to date news? It does sound something quite serious dosen't it.
Liz,Chris was saying today "When is the tree coming down" !!!!...Not just yet says I. It will probably be at the weekend and then we can get back to normal again. We finally watched Downton..It was good.Such a shame there will be no more :-(
Oh Frank. You aren't having a good time are you :-S.When are you coming home?
Jess is sitting in Thomas's place..he is not amused lol .She is plugged in to her lap top and has big ear phones on so she can't hear any sound from the room as she is revising for her finals for her Masters .I moved Thomas's blanket over to the other settee but he refuses to sit there !!!!.He is just sitting on the floor give Jess Evils :-D :-D Hannah will just be setting off from her house in London for Heathrow. Her flight is at 10 tonight. They fly to Doha (sp?) and have a wait of a couple of hours before the next flight on to Bangkok .So it is going to be a very very long journey.
I have been having a rethink for a holiday for us.I am very keen to go to Dubrovnick ,but I don't think Chris is.So I was thinking of the Eurostar to Avignon .Maybe May time.I can see him rolling his eyes each time I say I have been looking something up But I feel we need to decide at least when we want to go as Hotels book up so far ahead. The Eurostar cannot be booked until the end of January(I think) Ann are you having your Cornish Holiday again next year? How about Wales again?
Well it is Turkey for the last time in a minute with my lovely Lemon and Garlic Roast Potatoes.Sprouts ,Rainbow Carrots, and Broccoli .I may even bung in a few Yorkshires curtesy of Aunt Bessie :-D

Well I hav'nt got on very well today as I seem to have a lot of clearing up to do and feed the birds and hens etc and before it was dark I walked around the garden looking for bits for a fairy house. Why is it that when you are looking for a particular thing you never find any and when your not you always find some?
Anyway I was told off by oh for joining a site who he said took him ages to get off his pc. So I have been taking all the things off this site I want and emailing them to myself and have filed them. The good thing isa they copy the pictures too.
They are good projects for Mandy and the grandchildren so if you want them Mandy let me know.
Ham is boiliing away now after boiling over on my clean stove. :-(

Annx, I drink as much as I have capacity for. In my opinion the occasional tendency to be a tad costive is my immobility. A bit o motion puts some motion in the motions. I remember my Father was crippled with arthritis in his old age. This affected his frequency of bowel movements. Had he been more regular I feel he would have been happier and perhaps lived longer, who knows? Hoping Frank and Gill and all the others are feeling better. Before buying Ellen those 3 bras I had previously bought her some of those elasticated extensions for her existing one which were getting to be tight on her. She's put a little weight across the back. As good as the extensions are she wasn't using them. So her drawers will have a bit of a sort out when the next charity bag is put through the letter box. Sadie does house calls for privacy if you're interested :-D

Busy old day here. OH wanted some new waterproof trousers!! so, off we went to a gun/game shop in Cirencester where he managed to find a pair to his liking!!! It's a shop we've been to before and it's full of country things from china to books, to clothes, to doggy bits and bobs, really lovely. OH bought me a fab body warmer as an early birthday present, so I was well chuffed!! (think he wants to keep in my good books! not sure why!!!) Not a bad day here weatherwise, but clouding up now and a bit windy! I can't get over those poor people in the North. It must be just terrible. Have made stock out of the duck carcass, so that's ready to make soup with. Fish for supper tonight with rice, nice and easy!! Tomorrow I shall get some of the decs down, just leave the little tree with the lights till after New Year. OH making a cuppa with a slice of Christmas cake!! Hope you're feeling better Gill, and all is well with everyone else.

Afternoon All,
It's mild again here with splashes of sun now and again. We were fed up of Christmas food so went to the village cafe for brekkie this morning despite OH's conviction it would be closed. We nearly didn't get there as just up the road there were police cordons and "incident tape" all across the road. We had to go back and approach from the other side of the village, then to get home afterwards the police had to move one of their cars so we could get to our close. Goodness knows what's happened, but it's obviously serious. Maybe there will be a report in the local paper tomorrow. The area that's cordonned off is where the church is and some of the big old houses and vicarage.
OH has gone to another footie match so I may go out with my camera if the sun comes out again.
Sorry to hear you are still suffering Gill, but at least with something to soothe your cough you get more chance of a good night's sleep. I bet Sandra felt really useful being able to help and do the chicken for you all. Did she get a cook's apron from Santa?
David, drinking more fluids will help with the problem too. ;-) I bet the cats weren't impressed at getting the treatment! lol.
I couldn't believe some of the flood pictures, so dreadful to have your house under water like that. I think I'd have fold up furniture after an experience like that and flagstone floors with rugs I could roll up! I'd always worry it could happen again.
That sounds interesting Mel......send us a pic hen you've made some please. I've sent off for some wool to knit a Bluetit from the pattern I mentioned a while back. I'm just finishing off the loose ends on my snowflake necklace at the moment.

Good morning everyone. I hope Gill and Frank and all the others are feeling better after a good neigh's sleep. This dreadful weather has Leeds and York under water. God help them. I saw a bus on it's side getting washed down the street at Hebden Bridge.
Frontline time for 4 cats yesterday, they didn't like it, neither did I.
I wasn't too peaky yesterday, but a large tin of prunes shifted that problem. ;-)

Oh bought me three packets of coloured felt as a little pressy. I have found a lovely site on making little people out of pipe cleaners and felt so tomorrow I am going to have a go. I have made a body and cut out the clothes. I have to find some largish wooden beads and small ones for the hands and where I have put my beewax for the feet I do not know.
Signing out now and hope you ALL feel better in the morning.

We had the same problem Ann with our for sale boards, we've had a few of them and every single one has been blown down the street, so now we're not going to bother anymore. The last one to blow away nearly hit our neighbours car, so it's not worth risking it with the weather we've had recently. Shame you couldn't find a winter jacket you liked, I'm sure you'll find one soon. I know how you feel seeing things change, it's the same for us when we visit OH's mum in Ellesmere Port. It's been 10 years since we left there and everything has changed so much and feels very strange to us now.
I've recorded Dickensian so will watch them when I'm feeling better. I did manage to watch Downton but still need to watch call the midwife and a few other things.
OH nipped out earlier and got us some medicine, which is slowly working, it's Tesco's own cough medicine and is really good, hopefully we'll both be able to sleep better tonight. We can both still do things but are resting as much as we can too. Sandra has been brilliant and cooked the chicken for us today, I did help a little and OH helped to dish up, so between all three of us we had a lovely dinner.
So you were a bit late leaving yesterday then Frank? At least you are there now and can relax. Sorry to hear you are feeling out of sorts today, hope you feel better tomorrow.
Going to bed now, hopefully I'll get a better nights sleep tonight and be back on here again tomorrow Night Night

Hi All,
I have the pooter on my knee in the kitchen.
They are watching some CR#P U.S.A film, not my sort of thing.
Can hardly see what I am doing, the light is very poor.
Haven't read any posts as yet. Very mild day down here, Temp had been around 16 today. From the window, I could see a lot of people walking along the sea front, and plenty of cars parked.
I am having one of my OFF days today, sweating like a pig, and going into the garden every half hour to cool down. #I'm off to bed anytime soon.
I trust you all had a good Christmas.
We seemed to take forever to get down here yesterday. Conrad was going to pick us up at mid day, that turned into 2.00pm so it was after 6.00 when we got here.
Signing off now, will try to be more sociable tomorrow.
Good night

Evening All,
It's been dry and quite mild here today but so gloomy. :-S We got up late this morning (OH has decided he is an 11.00am to 2.00pm person......after that he's ready for a sleep!) We decided to check MIL's house on the way to a garden centre on the A5. The sold sign seems to have been ripped off in the wind! Otherwise all was well. The garden centre has other outlets and I hoped to get a new winter jacket but saw nothing I fancied. We came home the long way through several villages and I took OH down the lane into our village where they are going to build the new town. It's been closed for months and they have rerouted some of the lane to a new island to access the houses when they are built and it looks so different now.
David, I always remember Sadie the bra lady whenever bras are mentioned now!
:-D
We enjoyed the Dickensian prog too Jane and will also be watching or recording Miranda tonight.
Sorry to hear you have both been ill Gill. Stay put in the warm and rest up while you can. I hope you soon feel better.
Aunty Joy's present sounds lovely Mel. We have been nibbling today to eat up bits and bobs. We just didn't fancy any more Turkey so had pate on toast.
I bet Kiah will be beside herself when Jake gets back Fiona. I expect it's only gundogs that don't mind crackers being pulled. You'll have to take her outside next time you are pulling them.

Evening everyone. Over the last couple of weeks we have had torrential rain, but nothing like the west thank God. It will take months for that to get back to normality, or something like it. I remember the little town of Morpeth when it the river burst its banks about 10 years ago. It was minimal compared with they are experiencing in Carlisle and Cockermouth and Kendal. The government ought to be strengthening all the weakest links, we can't do anything about the weather. Sorry I didn't send you individually a card, I've never been out. I couldn't send one in the future if I wanted to, I emptied my message in box :( Never mind I wish you all the best for 2016
