Anne Report 31 Dec 2015 14:58

Gill how lovely to have your new sewing machine from your OH, have you decided what you hope to make first, I can imagine Sandra will be wanting one next.

I'm on my own at the moment, Richard has gone to watch Holly, his Goddaughter in the pantomime at South Hill Park she is one of the young dancers who goes to classes there, because it's a small theatre they don't have any big names appearing but are usually very good. It's her Grandma that died on Christmas morning.

Richard took Amy for a walk over the forest yesterday, she came back very muddy, I only took her along the wooded path at the back of the house this morning, it was 11.15 am and Shadow hadn't come in for her breakfast so I kept calling her name and she appeared from among the pine trees and trotted along back to the house quite happily with us, which was a relief as I was getting worried about her.

Paul is popping in again later to have something to eat before going out, he is sleeping over at Sam's Mum's house and they are going out from there. She is a very lucky young lady as her Dad owns a lot of land just off the 329M and he is selling it to a property development company, a lot of the money will go to her and her brother when the sale goes through as long as her Dad lives for another 7 years there shouldn't be any death duties. She plans to put a lot aside to see her daughter through university when the time comes . Paul has known her for a long time and I had hoped they would marry, this is before he met Sue, Sam is now divorced but whenever I ask Paul if he plans to get back with her he just says they are good friends, they live opposite each over so see each over every day anyway,

I am really missing Peter at the moment, not a good time of the year for me really but I manage to put a brave face on as I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.
Like Frank I also miss my lovely Dad and Peter's Dad as well, not either of the Mums though., they were both intolerable at times with my Mum she was a very spoilt child the first girl after 3 boys, her younger sister, my Auntie Doris never married and she would have made a lovely Mum, she knew from her own experience exactly what my mother was like.

It was a lovely day earlier although a bit windy but now it's starting to rain again.

Frank, It would be lovely for you to get a little dog as they are such good company, I can't imagine not having a dog about the house but they can be a tie but a smaller one will be better for someone to look after for you when you and Ros go away.

It's about to rain here too Mel, and the wind is getting up!! our nice day is quickly disappearing!! Merlin is waiting to come in, so OH has gone to get him as the field is now so wet and boggy, we're not leaving him out for more than two or three hours. Shall take Cas for a quick run and then that's it on the animal front for today!! Here they come!!!!

We now have lashing rain and thunder!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh that's fantastic Gill! I'm sure you're going to spend many happy hours with your new machine; you might even be able to set up a small business venture! something like that would certainly keep you and Sandra occupied and well chuffed!! Do keep us posted as to how you progress.
Nice sunny morning here, so I've done some more weeding out at the back and planted a couple of stray lupin plants that had been left in the cold frame, either they take or they die, doesn't really matter!! Cas has been 'helping' me, and is now asleep in her 'prison'!!
Our surgery has altered their website for ordering pills on line etc, so we had to go down there this morning to order them by hand so to speak!! Lots of other people have been equally flummoxed, but after it was explained, I seem to have rumbled it!! What a performance, but they're so nice in there despite being run off their feet in a small totally inadequate practice, (the promise of a new health centre is now on the back burner!!) so all is forgiven.
Must see to Cas's chicken!!

So you have your sewing machine at last Gill. It will make life so much easier for you now you don't have to spend all day on one little job of sewing.

I must send you those Wee Folk patterns.

Ann throwing away sausage rolls, thats like swearing to oh............................ I think I only had about 4 or 5 of the ones I baked which means oh ate over 20. :-0

Morning all

Dry, but cloudy here today

I've just noticed your kind offer of Ros's sewing machine Frank, unfortunately my OH had gone out to buy me one before I saw your post. Thank you anyway <3
Won't that be lovely if you and Ros get a dog, it'll be company for you too when Ros is out. Will you teach him/her tricks, dogs are very good at learning new things especially if you have a young dog. What type of dog are you hoping to get, will it be a puppy or a slightly older dog? Love to see a pic when the time arrives.

You did make me laugh with your comment on Cass and your OH at the shoot Liz, it looks like they both had a great time, all that hard work in training Cass has paid off by the sounds of it.

Yes Pat, the towels leave an awful lot of fluff in the filter of the dryer but at least they are soft, which is better than trying to dry yourself on a towel that feels like cardboard after being on the line ;-) ;-) Glad to hear the problem with your dryer is finally sorted for you and you are getting a refund, at least now you can get another one which, hopefully, will be in good working order.

Michelle and her boyfriend are still feeling under the weather Jane so aren't going out anywhere tonight, I said I would ring them around midnight to wish them happy new year. Both Michelle and I didn't realise that it was new years eve today, we were just saying goodbye to each other online yesterday and mentioning that I would ring her, when Sandra said that'll be tomorrow night then. I mentioned that to Michelle and we both had a laugh at forgetting what the date was. Goodness knows when I was actually going to ring her if it hadn't of been tonight, how silly would I of felt saying happy new year a week to late :-D :-D :-D
Did you manage to sort out the BT fault or did you give up in the end? I tried to reserve my sewing machine this morning for collection at the shop and didn't get very far, so OH just went to the shop to buy it the old fashion way LOL. They don't make things easy online do they? :-S
I was thinking if you are with BT then take a look at your bill, there maybe a number on there you could try.

OH has just got back with my new sewing machine so I'm going to take a look at it, we're off to visit his mum soon so I'll wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR just in case I don't make it back tonight. Hope 2016 is nice to everyone <3 <3

Morning All,

It looks sunny out so we are going to venture forth to the retail park down the road. OH wants a new dressing gown so wants to look in the M&S sale. He was cock a hoop this morning to be able to use his new wireless mouse without needing any setting up procedure!! lol.

David I think we all benefit from and enjoy our friendship we found on here and I'm glad you have found it helped you cope with the difficulties you have had. :-) <3

I think the last of the goodies should be gone this weekend and for the first time ever, sausage rolls have been thrown away this year. Then it's back to the regime of losing some weight again now the worries have settled down on the elderly parent front. I've really noticed my back and knees getting more troublesome again so it has to be done! It's not a good look to be crawling or staggering out of my sporty car!!! lol.

My sister's Christmas card didn't arrive. She makes her own (lovely) cards and said this one even lit up.....what a shame. Where do all this missing things go I wonder??

I enjoyed the Hedgehog prog Mel and learned a lot I didn't know about out Prickly friends!!

Better get showered and get my skates on now. :-)

Morning FRIENDS and Evening Kim,

Lovely sunny day here today, the wing looks cold. As I sit here in the kitchen I caan see the pwople walking along the front all wrapped up in heavy coats and scarves.

The Coaches are arriving at the hotels, either picking up or dropping off the "OLDIES"

I sat a watched "EDEN" last night . It was about the Bahama reefs. The filming was out of this world, and the number of fish and Sharks that live there is unbeliveable. I noticed it was on from 9.00 pm untill 6.00 am this morning. Had I been at home it was one to be recorded to look at again and again.

Thanks David for those few kind words reference your "Friends" on the thread.

I have only had a wash this morning, I will shower and shave before going out tonight. I would imagine we will be home and sitting around by 8.00 pm as we have the table booked for 6.00 pm and it's just a walk round the corner. "CONRADS WORDS" lol

Spoke to Carolyn yesterday, it's still very warm in Tenerife. So something to look forward too next Friday.

Ann thanks for that information, I will have a look later.

I'm going to take "JJ" for a little walk soon, but not to the beach as he will run off with all the other dogs to "PLAY" and I would never catch him. !!!

Will try to get back on later. if not ==== "A VERRY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL"

Morning all,

Well we have a bit of sunshine this morning at the moment but how long it will last I don't know.

Nothing planned for today so will just mosey along and see what happens.

I was glad to see that we have another Dickensian program as when I read my paper it looked like we only had the 4 and I did'nt think it had ended.

There is also a program coming up about old fashioned Bakers which I shall be interested in. Alex Langlands is presetning it I think, well I saw him with the bakers on a clip on the telly. I think it may be called Victorian Bakers??? or something lik ethat.

Still dark at 7.30 probably going to be a rainy day.
I've been awake since about 2am couldn't get back to sleep.
Getting a thick head now. When people are waking up I'll be having 40 winks.

All things considered, it hasn't been a bad year. Too many if's buts and maybes maybe but that's just my opinion. (My ifs buts and maybes)

Thank you all for being my online friends, you've made the last couple of years a lot more tolerable than it might have been.

Be good to one another and have a nice day.

Sorry story about your spin dryer Pat, obviously wasn't what the name says. Wouldn't they do a swap one in one out?
Local launderettes are good at such times, huge driers, I've used them

I'm home alone, even the dog has gone upstairs, he barks now and then and Icall out to shut him up.

We will sit and have a chat about a dog in the New Year. It was only mentioned as Jo said if anytime we couldn't cope she would take it off our hands.

Yes this time of year makes you think of your Parents. Especially my Dad, It was 57 years ago when I had him home for his last Christmas, which was his dying wish. He went back into hostpital early January 1958 and died 3oth January. Mother lasted to June 1980. But I am afrain not missed as much as my DAD.

Jane, At the prices Jo charges, you would need a bank loan for treatment. The dor bell hasn't stopped ringing roday, one after the other. She has even started doing Massages.

Even with Sky Movies there is nothing worth watching on T.V, so I m watching Eden.

Very difficult to see as I only have a table light on the otherside of the room. I hav the Laptop on my knees.

See you in the morning.

Annx Report 30 Dec 2015 20:09

Evening All,

Have you tried this number Jane? 0800 800 151 I think it's what you use to notify a problem with another phone. It's good Hannah has arrived at her destination. I wish I had the enthusiasm and nerve to travel like that. I haven't even made a start on my puzzle yet and we've only had one game of scrabble up to now.

I see Frank seems to have moved on from here as the wind has dropped, it's just rain here now. We had a whole panel of next door's fence down over our shrubs this morning. OH was going to be neighbourly and put it back for her, but when he's done that in the past, she hasn't even realised there was a problem and it just kept falling on our plants so he's left it propped up on her side. When he eventually did that last time she got her children to fix it better with more wood to hold it rigid.

If you google 'Bichon Frise Rescue' Frank it shows some sites with dogs needing homes. Some tell you a bit about the breed too which is interesting as they don't look the easiest breed and are high maintenance too. Wouldn't a clever little white toy poodle suit Ros? She knows what to expect with one of those. I hope your legs are still managing the stairs. I know just what you mean as I struggle with more than a few steps, especially if they are steep too. Has Lewis been juicing yet and trying them out on you? lol.

Liz, I had a chuckle at your post too as it's just the same here at times. I retreat to the study to do paperwork or something else and he's in and out like a fiddler's elbow, creating a draught and asking advice or where things he wants are that he really should know himself, but then, as I say to him, why use his brain when mine's available! :-S Then, as you say, it's 'come and look at this I've done' or 'what's the weather forecast', yet he's watched it with me a few hours before!! lol. I like watching the Royal Institution Lectures and the one on 'surviving in space' the other night was really interesting, but I told him he'd get a 'red card' for talking in that so he behaved himself!!

Mel, I think Sandra would get hours of pleasure making the little felt people too, and then a little garden or home in a box for them. What a good idea! :-) Did you watch the Hedgehog prog? I've recorded it to watch later.

No need to apologise David, we all have our moments of odd thoughts that occur to us, well I know I do. :-)

How disappointing about your tumble dryer Pat. As others say, a bit more pressure at the retailer should hopefully do the trick.

I noticed today that next door have already taken their lit Christmas trees down, two in the conservatory, and one in their new summerhouse.

Gill, I wouldn't worry and treat the sewing machine as a gift for both of you as you won't be using it to make things just for you. Years ago, if given money by my in laws we would often get something for the house. My parents didn't celebrate anniversaries so there was never even a card from them. I hope Michelle and her boyfriend are well enough to enjoy the New Year festivities. I'm usually in bed, but don't sleep as I know the fireworks will wake me. My father was too strict for me to be allowed out on New Year's Eve, so it was always low key and just watch the telly. I think I missed out on an awful lot then.

Did anyone watch the first of the 2 part series about Christmas Past in the 40s, 50s an 60s? It made me realise it wasn't unusual to have homemade presents in the 40s and 50s .I can remember a hand knitted doll from my grandma and a doll's house with 4 rooms and real lights that dad made one Christmas. I don't think my brother or sister had anything hand made from my parents as they were born many years later, but I did knit a set of doll's clothes for a doll for my sister one year and first OH and I made 2 sledges for my brother and sister another year.

We've had another lazy day today. We just can't seem to get up early!
