Afternoon All
Well we are all back to normal. What a jog putting everything away and findin th right boxes for baubles etc.The Wreath and outside lights are drying off in the garage. The Wreath was sodden. So one that is dry everything can go back in the loft. The dust !!! :-S :-S.One thing Iam not happy about is that the tinsel I had on my stairwell windowsill with the lights has stained the frame of the window .I am having one heck of a job to try and get it off.
Tomorrow we are going to MK to look at Suites.....Already fallen out as to how many settees /chairs etc :-S :-S..I can see it is not going to be a good day out :-S.Chris disappeared out to the Summerhouse :-D..That was good as it has given us chance to cool off..So while he was out there I set too and wrapped James's presents ready for his 30th on Saturday..He will be home from Paris tomorrow so I thought best to get it doen now.

Oh Ann ,I do hope that Abbie WILL talk to a teacher about her worries.I can understand in a way her not wanting to speak to her Grandad. She may be able to open up more to someone else not closely connected .If the teacher is concerned about what Abbie has to say then it will be their duty to get Mum and Step Dad in to discuss. He should not be barging in to her room like that especially if he is drunk.Poor girl might be very scared :-(...What does the Mum have to say about it?
I am glad though that she has you to confide in.It doesn't sound a very happy household does it :-(

Frank I bet you are feeling far more relaxed now you are back home :-D.I see you have your Chef Pinny on once more :-D

Gill does Sandra have any 'fairy lights ' in her room other than at Xmas. There are some lovely ones that can go around a headboard or just on a surface .I must admit I have kept one lot of battery lights out just in case I fancy putting them into a big Crackle Glass Bowl I have :-D

Thomas had me up at 2.30 this morning :-S..I think he had slept so much yesterday because of the rain .So I let him out then and didn't see him again until about 10am.Then he was out at 12.30 and has just come in.He can't say he hasn't had enough fresh air today.Trouble is I don't know where he goes when he is out so he might well have been having a kip somewhere lol

We had a nice day yesterday with Janice and Larry.I cooked the 3 bird roast before we went down to Fitzy and just kept it warm .Then we went for about an hour and a half .Came home and got the potaoes and veg on the go.It was really late when we ate.About 3.30 !!.But all went down a treat :-D.Janice left about 6pm.

Larry has sent me a pic of the Nature reserve he works on.It is totally flooded.I will send it on.There is nothing to see other than water !!!!!

I shall take down the last few baubles tomorrow, just leaving the lights, which will go on Wednesday which is twelfth night. You can't leave them any later than that else it's bad luck!!
Did loads of shopping today, talked to son, taken Cas for a good walk, and finished my book!

Gillx Report 4 Jan 2016 15:24

Sandra said she wants me to leave the Christmas decorations up as she'll miss them and since we have a few more days left to twelfth night I've decided to leave them, save upsetting her. She loves her little tree in her room and has a routine of switching all the Christmas lights on around the bungalow, so I thought it would be nice for her to do it for another couple of days.

We've watched a Christmas film this morning and will be watching another one in a moment.

OH has finished all the painting so it looks as if we're going to have a quiet afternoon. I've not long got it from the weekly shop, but couldn't find a table suitable for my sewing machine, so I will have to take another look on Thursday when OH is off work again.

It sounds as if you're well on the way to clearing away your decs Frank. I find it looks very bare at first, until you get used to it. At least it'll be easier to dust once they are all put away :-D :-D ;-) ;-) Your meal sounds nice, I love roast lamb, it's my favourite :-)

Annx Report 4 Jan 2016 15:20

Afternoon All,

Glad you had a good sleep Frank, it always helps. Ros has soon got cracking taking the decs down. I always find the tree and all it's baubles the biggest job. That sounds an ideal bargain with your car breakdown. We have ours with Brittania rescue, discounted as we were civil servants but not as good a bargain as 'FREE'!

I had a second night of being awake till past 3.00am so feel very unlively again today. In fact we both said how lethargic and tired we feel. Still, we were up quite early and went to look at some dressing gowns and jackets for OH, first down the road and then over to Nuneaton, but there was nothing he fancied at all. :-S I was well warm in just my cardigan but OH pointed out how many people were in hats and scarves as well as coats and boots. My thermostat is definitely wonky!! lol. On the way to Nuneaton, on a busy road, a little Jack Russell was diving to the middle of the road to get at some road kill. It was obviously a youngster and was filthy as if it had been running over and rolling in the puddle strewn fields. You could hardly make it out against the muddy road. It had near misses with several vehicles but kept rushing back into the road. I would have stopped but OH was keen to get his errands done and kept going saying someone else would stop and catch it. :-S When we came home we spotted it again trotting confidently up the drive of a bungalow so don't know if it had just got out from somewhere. There is a site with a few caravans nearby so maybe it came from there.

I'm glad your wrist is pain free again now Gill. Despite having a stronger fan put in the bathroom a couple of years ago we still get some bits of mould come around the bathroom window and ceiling that end, particularly in winter. I don't know what the answer to it is really when you have the shower going every day and baths as well some days. We open the window every day as well, but it is only a small opening one in there.

We've had drizzle here today Mel so I hope we don't get your hailstones here later. Hope you've been filled in on the gossip from Di now!! lol.

I loved Ruby's joke too! :-)

Frank Report 4 Jan 2016 13:10

It's all go here. Ros has stripped the tree, and the Mantle, window sill, fire place. All boxed away which I have dispatched to their position in the garage for another year.Door swag all boxed, that has to go out now. Just the front lights to come down and we will be back to normal.

I noticed as I walked to the Drs, this morning, the number of DAFFS. Forsythia and other plants that are in bloom. At this rate we won't have any SPRING FLOWERS to look at.

Very overcast here, and who do you think has put a line of washing out. You guessed it My Neighbour. It's got as much chance of drying, than me flying to the moon !!! :-D :-D :-D

Roast Lamb, Roast potato's and parsnips, Cauli carrots peas and Brussels. I have made a Yorkshire pudding also.

Better go a sort out a bit of lunch, as I haven't had breakfast. NAUGHTY BOY !!!!

Morning all

Dry but dull here today and not very warm

Don't worry about your mistake David, we all do it from time to time. My wrist is a lot better today with no more pain, so that's good.

I liked the joke you sent me Ruby, it did make me laugh.

I recorded War and Peace Ann and will watch it when Sandra has finished with all her Christmas films, I thought I'd finished recording them but noticed there is another 3 of them recording today, think they maybe the last ones. Hope so as I don't really have the time to sit and watch films every day. Sandra is enjoying it though and it's nice to have the company as she's normally in her room listening to her music most days

Pleased to hear you had a good nights sleep last night Frank, there's nothing better than sleeping in your own bed.

I've got the same idea as Ros and have decided to take the decs down today, I normally do it on twelfth night but OH is working the rest of the week apart from Thursday and we're off to mum's that day so we only have today to get it done. Then of course they'll be all the hoovering and dusting to do, so quite a busy day for me. OH has decided to touch up the paint on the bathroom, and kitchen ceilings both of them had a bit of mould on them which he cleaned off the other day with mould remover so now they are both patchy and need sorting out. The ceiling part of our bay window in the bedroom needs a bit of paint to, so he'll be busy doing that. I'm hoping there'll be enough time to do the weekly shop later and to also try and find a table for my sewing machine so I can use it.

You got a good deal on your breakdown insurance, I didn't realise you could use Tesco club card points for that, might take a look into it myself ;-) ;-)

It sounds like you've had some bad weather Mel, let's hope you don't get anymore. Have a good natter with Di getting all your gossip LOL

I had someone contact me about someone in my family tree yesterday, we were in contact last May and I'd forgotten all about it until he PM'd me saying he had lots of information he'd just found on his computer. He asked for my email address so now I'm waiting to see what he has found. It's rather strange really as there isn't a connection between our trees, we just had different people with the same name, so it's very kind of him to pass on information on my relative.

I haven't checked my emails yet so will do that now before I tackle the Christmas decorations

Morning and Evening Friends,

PEACE and QUIET I can't get use to it.

We didn't eat last night (cooked meal) but had a cheese sarnie Ros with sliced onion mine with Branston. Slept well till 6.00 this morning so that feels better.

We have got all the box's in from the garage and Ros has started stripping (THE TREE) !!!! :-D :-D :-D That's going to keep her busy for a few hours.

Have just had my AA renewal notice £69.00 for just breakdown. (Cheeky beggers) That's been cancelled and I have gone to the RAC with the full monty on Tesco Club Card vouchers only £48.00 in vouchers. Which we have, and more in the cupboard, So you could say we got it for free.

I have bought her a video cam that fits on the windscreen, just a little extra that might come in handy.

Bright sunny start here, but now clouding over. They say we will get rain later.

Very quiet on here last night I see.

Off to get the perscriptions up to the Doctors. We need them for the HOLS <3 <3 <3

Morning all and evening Kim,

We've had a little sun this morning but just now it was tipping it down so hard you could'nt see up the garden for rain and hail. Little tiny hailstones left on the car roof outside the kitchen window which melted quickly once it had stopped.

Di is calling in at about 12.30pm so I shall get any gossip thats going around if she has heard any.

Frank hope you had a better nights sleep last night in your own bed with peace and quiet...........or did Ros make up for it with a tantrum?? ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Hello Frank. :-D :-D I bet you are so glad to be chilling at home with your beer. It's not been a good day for travelling at all. You will be able to unwind now for the next few days before your trip to Tenerife and the sun and lounging about! lol.

Oh Anne, surely he must realise he could stumble in on your grandaughter in a state of undress! It's in his own interests as well as hers to knock. He does need a wake up call so I hope he listens to Paul if he has a chat with him.

We are watching War and Peace later. OH says it should be good, but I'm not sure whether I'll like it but we'll see. We've recorded it on 2 tellys so OH can watch it elsewhere if necessary.

It's raining again now. :-S

Missed your post Anne, That bloke should be repremarded by someone. What right does any man, let alone a STEP- FATHER to just walk into A 16 YEAR OLD BEDROOM. Who the HELL does he think he is. The poor girl must be frightened to death of what he might do or say. I think a word from the Police to him, wouldn't go amiss.

I have been on here since I last posted, trying to book in for our flight and print the boarding passes. It appears I was trying to print it in the wrong form. After many atempts I got it right.

Ros has unpacked and got a wash on. Taken down all the cards for Christmas and Birthday. Will start on the tree tomorrow. I will have to get all the box's in from the garage.

Going to sit down now and have a nice cold beer.

Pleased to hear you got back ok Frank, you can now enjoy some peace and quiet. You'll probably sleep well tonight after your bad night last night.
Yes I have been in the wars, I seem to have had a lot of bad luck lately. At least my wrist isn't broken so that's good.
I bet you can't wait to go to Tenerife, is the weather still hot over there?

It sounds like you have the exercise sorted for Cass Liz, throwing her ring for her to retrieve sounds like a great game for her and certainly works if she then snuggles up in her bed.

That doesn't sound good Anne, he really shouldn't be doing that, especially now she's 16, I don't blame her for wanting to live somewhere else. Is he like that all the time or just when he's had a drink. What does her mum think about it, can't she say something to him? Hope things improve soon.

Well, Sandra and I are on our 5th film, looks like this one is going to be a sad one, set in an orphanage. Hope it has a happy ending.

magpie Report 3 Jan 2016 17:12

Glad to hear you're home safely Frank and are now enjoying some peace and quiet.
We have a method for exercise Cas in this awful weather! One of us stands under the overhang on the veranda and throws her ring for her to retrieve a few times. After that she is happy enough to go to her crate to dry out, then she comes into the sitting room and snuggles up in her bed by the fire!!
I think someone needs to have a word with your granddaughters stepfather Anne, as he could find himself in trouble for not respecting her privacy as she is 16. Neither of us would dream of just going into our granddaughters by bedrooms without knocking, and they're 15 and 12. You do have to be careful as things can be so easily misconstrued.

Frank Report 3 Jan 2016 17:00

Well here I am at last,

We were up and about by 8.30 this morning, after me having one of my horrible nights. It's that time of year for me for the next month. Traumer everyday of January with my old dad, running into February and the funeral.58 years ago yesterday that he went back to hospital, never to return home again (SORRY) !!!!

Conrad cooked a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, tea toast and orange juice. We had planed on leaving by 11.00am but that turned into 11.45 am.

Rained heavy for a time, then on the M 5 the SAT NAV told us there was an accident, so we took the diversion, (SO DID EVERYONE ELSE) Over 45 min delays. Rain and floods everywhere. On the M 4 we passed a sign for Marmsbury, We nearly called into Liz's for a COT. lol

We arrived home about 3.30. Conrad, we hoped would stay the night, but after a Coffee he left about 4.30. with strict instructions to ring us the moment he gets home.

I see Gill is in the wars again. You are doing this too often young lady. Take more care !!!

Hope you had a nice day with Janice and Larry, Jane.

Liz, It must be very difficult to keep Cassie excerized when the weather is like this, JJ just loves standing in the rain in the garden, He gets a good rub down when he comes in.

Good old David getting the names wrong again !!!

Have you given any more thought to getting yourself a car David. If you think a LEFT HAND DRIVE would be better for you. There are dealers around who can supply.

On the way back through Swindon, Oxford. there were daffodills out along the verges. The trees looked as some of those were in bud also. WHAT has happened to our seasons ???

Ros has the unenveable job of unpacking and getting the washing sorted. She will no doubt start a wash this evening, and get it on the radiators to dry enough for ironing.

It's so nice not to hear the babble of Jo and Ella going on all the time. We will sit and unwined with a bit of tele, and I doubt we will have much to say. HEVENLY PEACE. !!!!!

Might look in before bed, which won't be to late tonight. :-D :-D :-D

Good Afternoon Everyone

It's been raining here all day again. so much that the bottom pond is overflowing,

Abbie and Becky are here today, both in tears when they arrived, it seems they have had a big fall out with their stepdad. They want to go and live with Paul but that's not feasible as he does shift work at Waitrose which means either very early starts or late finishes, they would be welcome to stay here but getting to school wouldn't be so easy. Neil their step father drinks
and easily gets in a rage over silly things but what I object to is that he goes in Abbie's bedroom without knocking in the late evening to tell her off, I have told her to speak to her granddad [Sue's dad] and tell him but she is going to tell her teacher

The photo is of me and Peter, we were married at St Mary Star of the Sea,Hastings our local Catholic Church ,55 years ago.

I hope Frank and Ros have a good journey home.

Gill I hope your wrist has stopped aching now these thing are so easily done.

Paul and Richard are off to ice hockey after dropping the girls off. hopefully Paul will have a word with Neil about respecting Abbie's privacy she is 16 and should be treated as a adult.

Annx Report 3 Jan 2016 16:24

Afternoon All,

It has poured with rain for hours here and when we went out there was a flood sign up the other side of the village and water across the road in a place we've never seen it happen before. There were huge puddles across half the road in many places as well as puddles in the fields. I think the farmers will have to carry on with more of the ditching they started last winter.

The new oven sounds great Liz, I bet you wish you'd bought that model to start with now. I looked up the Pommes Anna and they look delicious but not for my disappearing waistline I'm afraid so I shan't be trying those anytime soon!! I bet Cassie itches to be running about every day, rain or shine!!

Twisting your wrist like that really hurts Gill, so I hope a bit of rest helps so you can get on with some sewing. That's the only trouble with sewing machines....the noise! Mum had a posh Bernina which was quieter than my machine. The necklace is all beads and thread Gill.....no wire is used. It is started by netting small beads around a faceted circle of glass called a rivoli and then you just keep working in circles adding different beads. It stayed put nicely all the time I wore it yesterday Mandy. The 'snowflake' is just the right weight. I think I might make another using different beads or colours to get a different effect.

Better sort through some more paperwork now........where does it all come from! :-0

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2016 16:24

Yes Liz, I do seem to be having a run of bad luck lately don't I? I'm sure I'll get some good luck soon. Well, hopefully anyway :-) :-)

I don't mind watching the films with Sandra, I recorded all the ones she wanted up to yesterday as Christmas 24 has closed now, so each one is another one closer to them all being finished. They're actually good films and watching them is giving my wrist a rest. It's still a bit sore so a few days of not using it much can only help.

OH said he'd get me a table I can use, as the dining table is a bit to high for me to use the sewing machine on comfortably. He's off work tomorrow, so hopefully we'll find one suitable. I'm picking up the material for mum's cushion covers on Thursday so hopefully I'll have the table in time, plus my wrist will be ok and Sandra will have watched all her programmes by then.

Does anyone know what time Frank is back today? Hope the journey isn't to bad for him and Ros, it's pouring with rain here :-(

Enjoy your time with Janice and Larry Jane.

Going back to the film now

It was Gill who hurt her wrist David not me!!
Yes we use the oven nearly everyday Mandy, today it cooked our lamb joint to perfection! and yesterday I did a Pommes Anna, again it was very good, so it has been a great success, and of course no oven to clean!!
The sun's out here, and Cas has had a lovely walk, but standing water is everywhere, the fields are inundated!
