Yes I do fast forward the adverts LIz, I'd just let that ad break run through so I could post on here. It sounds like you'd both earned your glass of port with all the things you've been doing today, sounds like a very busy day.
I've finally finished all the cushion covers so will take them to mum's tomorrow, she said her friend might have the curtains for me to do tomorrow so after our anniversary on Sunday I will make a start on them for her.
Mum asked me yesterday if I would be willing to do some more sewing jobs Jane as she could probably get me some off her friends, so I said yes. I'm ok with soft furnishing but said that I'd have to learn how to alter clothes so wouldn't want any of those jobs. To be fair the whole point of getting a sewing machine in the first place was so that I could learn how to make or alter clothes, so the quicker I learn the quicker I might have a few extra jobs coming my way. I'm going to practice on the machine tomorrow with some of the scraps of fabric left over from mum's cushions, she's kindly said I can have it.
Good luck with your blood test on Monday Jane.
Emmerdale has just started and I've got it on pause so I'd better go as Sandra is waiting to watch it too.

I had my yearly check up yesterday Jane. Our surgery insists you have one if you are on bp pills and/or statins. If you don't you can't get your repeat prescriptions!!! Supper was delicious, OH even cleared it all away, so I feel less frazzled now!! As I think I said Jane, I would never buy clothes for any of our 'young people'! Style size colour would all be wrong, particularly with the daughter and grandchildren!! best for us to give money then they can buy their own!

Oh I missed Frank this morning :-(..Bet he will have arrived in Tenerife now and will be wearing his shorts :-D :-D
Today is the first time this winter I have worn a warm coat !!! and even my long boots. There was quite a frost first thing and things were a little slippy in places.
I haven't done much today.Just took a shirt back to M&S for James that I bought for his birthday. It was a bit on the short side for him and not easy to tuck in.So hopefully the new one I got will be fine.I remember when he was at school he was always getting told off for having his shirt hanging out.He has a long body which can be a bit of a problem with shirts. He will be off to Jess's this evening. But is coming here for his dinner and to pick up some clean clothes. It has been strange him not sleeping here since the 20th dec.I think he has enjoyed house sitting :-D.He friends come back from New Zealand on the 20th so he still has a bit of time to make the most of not living at home lol One nice thing for me is I have so much less washing to do :-D :-D :-D..I am certainly not complaining about that :-D So this time 30 years ago I was getting ready to go into hospital in preparation for a C Section in the morning.Of course back then I had no idea if I was going to have another girl or a boy,so it was a pleasant surprise to find I had one of each :-D..That was me done then .No more babies.I wouldn't have had the patience for any more.
Gill could you not take in a few sewing jobs? That would make you a bit of extra cash.I am sure there would be plenty of people who would be glad of your service. The lady who you are doing the curtains for might tell her friends and word will get around. It could be a nice little earner for you and you could decide how much to do.
I think I will put the outside light on out the back so I can see when Thomas appears if he has a little something in his mouth !!!.I almost got caught out the other night and just managed to shut the door on him before he brought his supper in.He had to eat it Al Fresco :-D
I have only just booked my appointment for my blood test !!.Chris reminded me .I had completely forgotten all about it.So it is on Monday at 8.50.I still haven't heard anything about an appointment for the CT Scan on my bonce.
Still doing this puzzle Mandy .I have just counted the number of pieces left to do and there are 75 :-S.I was seizing up so had to stop.It would be nice if it could be finished tomorrow or at least by the end of the weekend.I am sick of seeing it there on hte coffee table.I said to Chris we really should have bought one of those Jigsaw Rolls.I think I said the same thing last year :-S I can smell Parmentier Potatoes cooking.Quite garlicky. They are Aldi ones .Never had them before from there so I will see what James thinks of them as he is the only one having them tonight. Better go now and take them out of the oven.

You do have to sit through ads on i player Mel, but not when you record on TV, at least we don't You can always fast forward through all the ads at various speeds. We have sky though, so perhaps it's different on other systems. We've had such a busy day! OH spent the morning cleaning the chimney!! What a pig of a job that was! Then he connected up the new TV to wifi, so we can watch catch up, YouTube, and more besides. We also have freeview as well as our sky package. Not quite sure what else we can tune into, but there should be something to watch!! This afternoon we cleaned the field, and pressure washed the veranda as it can get a bit slippery particularly if the weather gets cold! OH is cooking supper, fish in white sauce with rice. He's just poured me a glass of Port, think it's what we both need!!! :-D

Gill, can't you fast forward through the adverts?!! Surely the people viewing your house must have realised how big your garden was before they came?! Perhaps a word with the agent might be in order to stop people wasting your time! Lovely sunny morning here, but cold! We've had a busy a.m getting some outside jobs done, before it clouds over and probably rains!!! Yes Mel, we're watching Endeavour, and War and Peace, but not Beowulf!

The material is cream Mel, with a very light brown flower pattern on it, it's really nice. I must admit I'm a bit nervous of using the sewing machine with not using one for years, I'll have to try to remember how to use one all over again. There is a bit of material left over, so mum said I could have it, I'm going to have a practice on my machine with it as it's all the material I have spare to use. I'm just worried about the tension, so once I get used to that I should be ok.
Watching Jericho at the moment, it's really good. I'm about half way through. The adverts have finished now so I'd better get back to it. BBL

Morning all,
Nice sunny morn ing here and I slept in late. I had a devil of a job to get off to sleep last night and then oh woke and got up too. I must have dropped off then and then he woke me again when he came back to bed.
Gill you just can't get away from that hand sewing can you? That was a bargan at 50p to cover 6 cushions. what colour is the fabric?
Nothing planned for today except to fill all the bird feeders for the wildies. They are going through the peanuts like wildfire at the moment.
Well our Frankie Boy will be well on his way by now. I do hope he has a nice rest and can sleep ok over there.

Morning all
Pouring with rain again here, I really feel for everyone in all those floods
Not long to go now before you're in Tenerife Frank, no floods there, just lovely sun. Have a great time :-D :-D
At least there is no wind today so my Sky system is still on. OH is in work and Sandra's asleep, so I'm going to watch Jericho and carry on with my mum's cushion covers.
I'm watching the space track of the International Space Station on BBC1 at the moment, but the sound isn't very good. There are children asking Tim Peake questions and one of them was "What would happen to a helium balloon in space?" Apparently it wouldn't float, so that's something new I've learnt ;-)
What is everyone else up to today?

Almost ready for the off. Ros wants petrol, and John has ask us to get him £10.00 lottery tickets, I might join him, even though I haven't done it for years but £57.8 million would be nice. I might treat you all to a COT.lol
Take care, and behave,
See you soon.

Safe journey Frank, hope you have a great time, thanks for the advice on the lamb.
So you've had Robby eating from your hands again Mel, that must be wonderful, Sandra and I are jealous ;-) ;-)
I might give that number a ring David, we got feedback off the viewing we had yesterday and she doesn't want to buy our place because the garden is to big.
I would of altered your top Jane if we lived closer to each other. I'm in the middle of doing my mum's cushion covers, I'm having to do them by hand though as all she wants is a piece of material she's found attaching to one side of each of the six covers. She got a bargain, the piece of material only cost her 50p but there's only enough to do the one side of the covers, so instead of me unpicking all six covers to replace one side it was easier to hand sew the material over the original material. I've done one already and it looks really good.
Mum rang me earlier and ask if I could change the tape on some curtains for her friend and she'll pay me, so that's my next job, although I will be using my sewing machine for that. I've made lined curtains from scratch before, years ago, so changing the tape isn't a problem, the only thing that's going to take the time is unpicking the old tape. Apparently the woman's hubby just pulls the curtains open from his chair, so the tape has pulled where the hooks go and no longer sits right on the track....Nice little earner for me though, so I'm not complaining :-D :-D ;-)
I thought our Sky system was working properly Ann but then it decided to play up again during the first Emmerdale, so when that finished before Eastenders started OH ran outside and nudged the dish again, so far it's been fine ever since. The wind has died down a bit now so hopefully Sky will stay on. It's such a nuisance having to nudge it all the time.
Easter eggs already Mandy, that's ridiculous, surely they won't be edible by Easter, I prefer fresh chocolate nearer the time.
I've recorded Jericho, so will watch that when I get some free time.
Off to bed now, see you all tomorrow or should I say later, I've just realised how late it is LOL Night Night

We watched Jericho Mel, and thought it was brilliant!! We treated ourselves to a new TV for the sitting room today, also a speaker bar!! OH's deafness is getting a bit chronic and the bar really does boost the sound significantly. Our old TV was ok, but the picture on the new one is SO much better, and the sound of course!!! Much colder tonight!

Evening All,
HAPPY HOLS to you Frank. I hope you have a good time and nice relax and get plenty of wear out of your shorts!! :-D :-D Like you I often add a teaspoon of mint sauce to gravy with lamb.
That's a pity they didn't have tickets for the date you wanted Jane. We went on the TGV down to Annecy and boy it did seem fast on some stretches!!
I didn't realise Robby was still visiting you Mel. It's good he is still around.
Mandy fancy seeing easter eggs while you were buying Christmas sale bargains!! :-0 I bought a valentine card the other day and thought that was early! What is the picture on your puzzle? The one I did last year was of the Yorkshire Dales and had a lot of tree that was hard to do. That was good news about your hubby's tax wasn't it, especially following the nice windfall.
I hope you get Sky back ok soon Gill. We have trouble with the picture breaking up on recordings at times when it is windy.
I've had a busy day today. Popped in the village for some flowers for someone and to get some milk.......no skimmed milk left and the flowers were past their best! Went to the fav carvery and took my car. I warned OH I would get by a tractor and trailer so we weren't held up for miles but I don't think he was listening. I didn't even put my foot down but he clutched his tummy and I swear a leg went up in the air this time!! LOL. That'll teach him to listen to his wife!! ;-) After lunch I went to the car wash and saw the smiley Polish men who made quick work of it with 3 working on the car at once. Then we went to Warwick to see the film Brooklyn which was good.
OH rang the estate agent this morning and it seems it's all sorted on the buyer's side now. It's just getting the deeds registered our side that is holding things up. It's with it being an old property and never having been registered. OH is concerned about the house with the cold weather coming. We are going to find the boiler instructions and see if we can set it to come on for and hour or two in the evenings. We'll be glad when it's off our hands now.
Tomorrow I'm meeting up with my beading pals. The lady who's house we are going to usually bakes some lovely things so that will be nice. :-)

Mel I might just put some lemon zest in now you have mentioned that. That should go nice with the Fresh Thyme in it.I have just used the last of our own red onions.
Mandy that was a nice surprise then not to have to pay any extra tax. That ia almost unheard of lol....Chris often used to get clobbered when he thought he was ok.So you have this extra and the windfall you had the other month :-D
Ann,Chris has booked our Eurostar tickets going down to Avignon.Unfortunately there were non of those cheap tickets for day we travel :-S.But with our Senior Rail Cards we have got a fairly decent deal.As it is quite a long journey we decided to go Standard Premier which is far more comfortable and we get a meal included and drinks :-D. We just need to book rail tickets on TGV to go to Paris from Avignon.Return Euro Star from Paris to London booked too.So that is all sorted :-D.I see the police shot someone dead at Gare de Nord today :-S..It is not a very pleasant station, and I am always glad to get out of that one.No hanging about there.
I bought myself a lovely top in Asda this morning.Onlt thing is the sleeves are too long.I could do with you Gill and your sewing machine :-D.I will take it in to the Dry Cleaners to be shortened as it has elasticated cuffs and I wouldn't dream of attempting that job myself.I would muck it up completely.it will probably cost me the same as I paid for the top but will be worth it.
How are the girls Anne?.I keep thinking of that Stepfather behaving so badly. It just isn't right :-S
I better get the oven on now to warm up and then get the sausages in.I really hope the batter cooks well and doesn't stay soggy in the middle like it does sometimes.
