It's still very dull here and we have had some very heavy prolonged showers.
So first snow Fiona. Wish we could have just a bit for a day or two and that would satisfy me. We only had a sprinkling last a couple of times that just did'nt stay around long enough to enjoy it.
Our road down past the big house is closed as there is a deep dip in the road outside the big houses front lawn so they could'nt see the peasents passing by from the house. There is a large drainhole in the side of the wall but with all this rain it is now flooded as the water just isn'tdraining away. Some people know you can get past the dip by going through the big house grounds and Ralph has got a bit fed up with it so there are signs up to say Guests Only. He had the police down who closed the road off. It dos'nt really affect us but once a woman down the road had'nt lived there very long and she drove straight into the water and got stuck as it came half way up her car side. Oh had to rescue her and they had to close the road then as there is'nt enough room to get another vehicle alongside. They got a tractor to tow her car out in the end and tow it to the garage up the road as there was no way it was going to start for ages.

Hi Everyone, Hello to Kim
I have had to order a new wedding ring, as I cannot get my original engagement & wedding ring over my knuckles,I have gone up 2 sizes from I -K, due to putting weight on. OH didn't want me to re size my small wedding ring, in case if If I ever am ill and lose weight I have my original ring to fall back on. I am still able to get my mums engagement ring(wore it as an eternity ring)on so will wear that instead of my engagement ring.
We had the first snow fall of 2016 yesterday, quite heavy lasted till about 9pm and then stopped snowing , main roads have already been gritted, Hope the rain comes and washes the snow away,

That's a pity Mel. No wonder your reception is a bit dodgy!! Maybe you could try going onto Sky? It might work better, as a they come out and fit it all up for you to make sure the dish is positioned correctly. You don't have to have an expensive package, you can either have a one off payment which covers the main channels + a few freebies, or you can have a package tailored to your particular needs, or a full pack a which gives you anything and everything. We have the minimum monthly payment one that just gives us the extra channels we're interested in, particularly the wild life ones which are really worth having. Might be something to think about! Cheered up a bit now so I must clear up Merlins yard. This is OH's job, but he's taken Cas to another shoot! At least she should be knackered!!

Morning all,
Pouring with rain here too so your not alone those who have it. It is so dark I have the two lights on in the kitchen and dinig area.
We did have an outside ariel on the side of the bungalow but with all the strong winds a couple of years ago it broke off and was hanging down one day when I went round to feed the chickens and it was all broken and twisted and bent. It gave oh a hernia putting it up there on its pole too and when we lay in bed if it was windy it made an awful noise. Hence when it came down it stayed down.......
Today after going to the shop I shall carry on making my pom poms as I am really enjoying it.
Just started pouring again as I type and its thundering on my car roof outside.

Morning all
It must of been raining a lot in the night as my patio is full of puddles. It's not raining now, which is good as I've got to go out soon and take the cushion covers to my mums, then do a bit of shopping.
What is everyone else up to today?

Still dark and freezing here.
Mel, could your man obtain an extension mast to raise the height of your
TV ariel, or is there something nearby higher than your bungalow that the ariel could be attached to give you a better signal?

Yes you're right Mel, they are DVD recorders these days, I still refer to them as video recorders!! As I said we have sky and that records and replays without any problems at all. We have a DVD/CD player built into the TV in the bedroom, and a separate DVD/CD player for the sitting room, so we should be able to find something that suits us both!!!. Horrid morning here, OH looked out of the window and shut the curtains again, made us a cuppa tea and got back into bed!!!

Ahh that dear little dog and that beautiful blue sea. I bet they are having a great time.
Ann It will be a shame if the classes stop because of people not signing up for them. I hope they get enough and can carry on. You'll miss it if they have to close the class down.
You can't use video recorders now they have to be DVD recorders. I have one that just plays CD's and one that records DVD's but have never found out really how to work it and when oh got me the first you view box that was ok but then we had the new one and that has stopped working and where we are there is not a good signal. Also being in a bungalow the ariel is quite low and we have all those trees out the back where it is pointed.

That is a point David as we tend to record things, never get round to watching tbem and end up deleting them months later!! No need to thank us David, I think we're all glad to be companionable!

Ann I hope the treatment goes well for your friend having treatment for breast cancer. I also lost all my hair everywhere my nails didn't come off but the ones on my feet looked very strange for a while, my worst side effect was a very ulcerated mouth it even hurt to talk. I had returned to work while having treatment which helped me take my mind off it, radiotherapy was no problem at all, having my lymph gland removed on my left side wasn't a nice experience. I attended the Parapet part of King Edward V11 hospital, Windsor and this was a specialised unit for breast cancer and screening, it was amazing how many patients they had including a couple of men. My surgeon was a lady and so caring.

Ann, Lewis is walking really well now ,he has been walking about a month ,it's so funny as he lifts one arm before he sets off :-D he's also saying the odd word ,this morning i said to him "is that your cat " " yep" he said :-D he also says" that " as he points to things.
It will be a shame if they carn't get enough people for the beading class and it has to finish . Your poor friend losing her nails ,i've never heard of people losing finger and toenails when they have had cancer treatment .
Jane i love the little dog cooling off in the water ,what a lovely view she has ,the waters so clear and that blue sky !!

No. I haven't Sky. Sometimes considered it but that is all. There's not enough hours in the day to watch it all. Beyond BBC and ITV there are several FV channels. Then there's iPlayer on the PC But I'm surprised the TV's I've bought don't record. Not to worry, it becomes a habit.
While it's in my mind, thank you all for being good company <3

Don't you have sky David? as you can record quite easily with your sky box. If not, perhaps another video recorder would be the answer. You can get them on line without any trouble. Otherwise there is always catch up on the computer. Time for Mr Selfridges. We're recording Royal Wives, which should be interesting. Lovely pic, thanks Jane.

I used to record films off the TV for myself or Ellen by entering a number through the remote control. Come the starting time of the film the video recorder would start recording for the duration of the film, even if the TV was off or you were watching the other channel.
I cannot do that now as I haven't a video recorder. Have 3 TV's one in the living room and one in each of the bedrooms that play DVD's not record.

Evening All,
We had a good frost here this morning too. I was outside hoovering my car out and clearing the frost off the windows at 8.30am ready to visit my friends. The clear plastic mats I bought for my previous car fit this one perfectly. There were delicious home made ginger biscuits and shortbread and some mini mince pies with viennese shortbread tops she'd made for us when I arrived. :-) We were all seated around drinking our drinks and nibbling the goodies like Last of the Summer Wine when her husband came through and asked who owned the beautiful car parked outside! lol He wanted to know all about it! The friend who is having chemo for breast cancer was well enough to come which was good. The poor thing, apart from the tiredness and hair loss, her finger and toenails are falling off and she said the bottoms of her feet had all skinned. She still has radiation treatment to come and they are still deciding about surgery. It was good to see her chatting and laughing a few times though. We were chatting a good 3 hours so after I picked OH up at home and we went to the tearoom at the garden centre in the village and I had chicken chasseur with a dish of mixed veg and no potato and OH had a tuna jacket.
I was notified this morning that this term's class is starting a week earlier than we were told which is a bit annoying as I shall miss the first one now as I've arranged to meet another friend that day. :-S She works the rest of the week so I can't rearrange it. There seems to be some doubt as to whether a class will be run as well as not enough have signed up yet. :-S
I think I might get one of those Karcher window cleaners as a friend has told me they are much better than a cloth for removing condensation from windows!! I hadn't thought of using one for that and we do get a lot in the bathroom window and some in the bedroom windows this time of the year too, despite double glazing. I suppose it might be good for doing the wall tiles after a shower too?? :-)
I've had to move the daffs I bought the other day and don't think I'll be buying any more which is a pity as they cheer the place up after Christmas. Last night a lot of the flowers had opened and the strong smell of them started such a tickle in my throat. Then today I had a bit of a runny nose and eyes as well so I think it's the pollen and hay fever!!
Gill you will soon remember what to do with your sewing machine. I always do a bit of practice on spare material to check the tension, better to spend a few moments checking it like that than spend half an hour unpicking!
What a to do over your tablets Mandy, it's a good job you got them all in the end. I am trying to get a bit in advance with mine. For one thing the chemist sometimes runs out and it's handy not to have to panic about running out at holiday times. Your jigsaw sounds good.......better than nothing but trees and fields like my last one. Fancy Lewis being nearly 1 year old!! Time is just whizzing by!! :-0 Is he on his feet and taking wobbly steps now?
My first OH had a long back and had trouble with some shirts Jane so I can understand James needing a longer shirt. So annoying to have to keep tucking them in every time you bend or reach up.
I bet Frank is in his shorts now. :-D :-D

It's been very cold here today as well with some rain earlier on. I expect Frank and Ros are now relaxing in Tenerife I hope they have a lovely time out there.
Nothing much happening here today, Amy had her usual walk but decided she wanted to come back home quite early on as she doesn't like the cold now she's an old lady, bless her. The cats have spent most of the time indoors asleep.
Haven't heard anymore from Abbie but as Paul meets her and Becky from school everyday I will ask him on Sunday when he comes with the girls for the day but they do know that they can come here at any time should they need to. Sue would be a lot worse off if they don't live with her, no family allowance plus what Paul gives her every month for them, both together it's far more than they cost to feed, Paul also buys their school uniforms and they have started buying their own clothes with birthday & Christmas money.
Gill you are very unlucky with selling your house, around here they don't stay on the market for long, I think it's because being near to the motorways and airports, and London is easy to get to. I am very happy here so wouldn't want to move anyway, we have such good neighbours and knowing from past experience that is worth an awful lot.
I watched Murder in Paradise last night as its very light hearted it makes easy viewing, the previous evening it was Midsummer Murders which was good,

Evening all,
Been nice and sunny here today ,but really chilly ,sharp frost this morning i had to scrape the car windows as we had to meet son and DIL first thing ,we are buying Lewis his first pair of Clark shoes for his birthday which is next Friday ,the lady measured his feet and he needed a size 6 and an H fitting ,she searched out the back and they didn't have one pair in that size !! so we went back to sons and he ordered a pair on line from Clarks .
I expect Frank will be there by now ,i don't know how long a flight it is to Tenerife, he will no doubt have a nice chilled pint when he gets there .
I forgot all about Jerico last night as i watched Death in Paradise ,but i have down loaded it on catch up TV .
Gill i'am sure you'll soon get use to your new sewing machine once you've had a few goes with it and as you've used one before it will soon come back to you. It would be handy if you could get a few little sewing jobs ,you'd be able to buy some material with the money and make some new things for your self .
Jane i buy things for son from Debenhams they have the Big and Tall things for men ,son likes things nice and long too ,his Jacket we bought him for christmas came from there . Your nearly there with the jigsaw then , ours is another oldie worldie one of a christmas street with a market stall and toy shop , we don't seem to get that much time to get on with it ,going on it is a bit slow !! I was shopping most of the morning or should i say waiting in boots for our tablets !! it was 6 minutes passed 11 when i went in and nearly quarter to 12 when i came out i had to wait while they did hubbys tablets then she when of to find mine ,came back with only two boxes in the bag !! i said there should be other tablets too ,she then found another bag with two more boxes of the same tablets as the other bag which were dated for collection in November !! Then she found the other part of my prescription with my other tablets on so i then had to wait for them to be done !! They must have been two prescriptions in November and i only had the one bag and as i keep a good supply in i never noticed that i hadn't got them, i must make sure in future that i have all i order .
I had a letter from the doctors ,i have to make an appointment for my Arthritis review but i have to have an appointment for a blood test first , they like to keep an eye on my kidneys and i think it's the liver too as the arthritis tablets i take can affect them .
