Afternoon All
David I remember seeing that film and thought it was brilliant.
Glad all is well on the toothypegs Liz :-D
I had my bloods done this morning ,then went to M&S to get a few bits and then somehow ended up putting a deposit on a new car :-0 I haven't been happy with the one I got last year and we have been talking of changing it.So I went to the Renault place and had a look at a Dacia Duster.Went for a test drive .I actually drove it home so Chris could see it.The Saleman was very good to let me do that as it was a much longer drive than a normal test drive.Any way to cut a long story short I will be part exchanging at the end of the week :-D :-D...
It has certainly turned cold now and it is quite dark .Fire lit ,slippers on .That is me in now :-D.Thomas seems to be spending more and more time out side these days.Got a horrible feeling he has started hunting again :-S.Chris found the remains of a rabbit down the bottom of the garden yesterday :-S :-S
I must get a Cuppa.I'm parched.

Clean bill of health at the dentist, which is a relief! She complimented me on how clean my teeth, and how healthy my gums are!! Hygienist in March, next dentist in July. Chaos in Tetbury with road works, so after Tescos and the equivalent of Mole Valley for worm pills, I didn't get home till nearly 1.30!! Not too bad a day here, at least it's dry!!

I'm afraid we didn't watch that film David. We watched Endeavour on catchup, then War and Peace, then went to bed and watched a documentary about Stephen Fry, which was very interesting. At least it's not raining this morning!! Merlin is out, Cas has had her walk, I've changed the bed, the washing machine is whirring as is the dishwasher!! Dentist at 11, then shopping, then?!!

I watched a film last night, the remake of The taking of Pelman 123 god film ruined by the lengthy adverts John Travolta played a convincing vicious thief (his target an under ground train) Robert Shaw played the original. Did anyone notice The Mayor was played by the actor who played Tony Soprano for six series of The Sopranos?

All I innocently did to find the link was google 'Whetstone Fish and Chip Shop Gok Wan' so how it ended up with that gawd knows!! :-0 :-0 Well, you've seen things I've never seen on the internet now!! I've deleted the link.....we don't want risk of that on our 'What we Remember from Childhood' thread.

Liz I thought the same after seeing Endeavour.
I have been playing with my pom pom makers this afternoon. Oh has said he's not bothered about cheese and biccies tonight and was satified with a couple of sausage rolls. I had one........
Anne it is good that Abbie has has a word with a couple of people so perhaps it won't happen anymore. Lets hope so anyway.
Wonder where Gill and Glyn went today or if they just stayed in. Are they picking Sandra up tonight?

That's a other reason we avoid F&C and takeaways in general!! They are fattening and we both tend to put on weight, and need to be a bit careful about what we eat and drink! We vary very much in height, all my family are tall, both maternal uncles were over 6 ft. My mother was 5.7, father 5.11, Granny 5.8, Grandpa 5.11. I'm 5.7, or I was !! Son 6.1, daughter 5.3. OH on the other hand is 5.7, and all his family are short, so much so that I towered above the ladies, and the blokes weren't exactly tall! Watched Endeavour this afternoon on catchup. Thought it was a bit slow and tedious! Hope it perks up a bit !!

Evening All,
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO GILL AND GLYN!
Well we always had bread and butter with F&C when I was a child. We rarely do now as the portions are so large these days!! lol. A quick tot up I can count over 6 F&C shops within 5 miles, a lot of the surrounding villages have one, so we have plenty of choice. The one below (no 4 as you scroll down) is in the next village to us. See who's parents run it..........they used to put newspaper clippings up in the shop when he first became famous!
Deleted!.........It was Whetstone Fish Bar which Gok Wan's parents ran.
I only have them 3-6 times a year plus some on holiday and sometimes nick some of OH's when he has them other times to have a buttie like Mel!
It's 'watch out, there's a Lewis about' at your son's now then Mandy.......I bet he loves having his brother and sisters around with all their toys!! lol I love to watch toddlers starting to walk, going in unsteady fits and starts with big smiles on their faces as they get the hang of it!! I think it is good the school set a limit. I remember being red faced and so self conscious and uncomfortable when I couldn't go on school trips with my friends because of the cost.
Nice to hear from you William. I hope Carmel's cold clears up soon. Sorry to hear about your grandaughter too, but a new great grandchild is something to look forward to.
Yes, I wish I had stayed slim Anne, but like Mel, once I was with OH I started 'expanding'!! lol. Before that, for a few years in my early 30s I played badminton 2-3 times a week with matches on Saturdays and jogged 3 miles some evenings and went swimming from work some lunchtimes. I was the slimmest I've ever been then at 5 foot 2 and seven and a half stone. :-S It's good your grandaughter has been able to speak to someone else. Hopefully things will get better now.
We've had a nice mostly sunny day and no rain so after lunch we went for a walk around a village we usually just pass through. It's amazing how much more you see when you are walking. It has a few very old houses and several old farmyards next to the road. We walked up to the church and couldn't work out whether it is used or not as there was no name board outside or details of any services?? The graveyard was nicely kept though and lots of yellow aconites were in flower. Then we carried on a mile or two further (in the car!!) to the garden centre with the miniature village. There area few little shops there in old outbuildings and they still had Christmas things they were selling off. I resisted but was tempted by the taller prelit twig trees. Quite a few folk this year round here have had them standing outside their front door or in front porches. :-D

The girls arrived with their dad, Sue normally drops them off when he is working but she chose not to today [I wonder why] when Paul went to their house there was no one else in apart from their older step sister and her baby. Abbie was a lot happier today she had done as I advised and told Jessie, her cousin who then told her Mum, Jenny , she also told Abbie she would be welcome to stay with her. Jenny works at Waitrose too but is on the catering side, Paul only sees her now and then, Waitrose head office is very large and consists of several buildings. Jenny's best friend who works with her is Neil's first wife so no doubt she also knows how he has been treating Abbie. I'm feeling a lot happier now they both seem ok

Afternoon All
Happy Anniversary Gill and Glyn.I hope the weather has been decent enough for you to go out today <3 <3
Oh Mandy £5 is nothing is it.Jake might just be able to get a tiny souvenier .It must be difficult fore the teachers to put a cretain limit on spending money as like you say some families will not be able to afford much.Jake will love the Science Museum.Lots of interactive things there for the children to do.
Poor Merlin Liz.He must feel like he has webbed hooves with all that standing water . We have had no rain at all today. It has been quite bright although it is getting really cold now.Good luck at the Dentist.
I have my Blood teat in the morning at 8.50.I must remember the school traffic and give myself a bit of extra time to get to the surgery.
Ann ,I hope the girls are ok today. They must really love coming to you at the weekends. My James is about 6ft 1 or so.I am 5ft 2 like Mel and am too tubby or if I was to be totally truthful just too fat !!!!...Chris is 5ft 10 (or he was).Hannah must be about 5ft 4.So James is the giant.
Oh Mel not the leccy knocked out again :-S.Hope is back on again now and it will stay on.
I made some lovely Carrot and Parsnip Soup this morning.I might have said before. It is made with veg stock and 'light' Coconut Milk and Coriander .It's quite yummy :-D
Hannah and her friend are now in Bangkok. The journey from the Island sounded very exhausting ...It was by Truck,Long Boat,Speed Boat,Minivan,Plane and finally taxi !!!! They are now out experiencing the night life.So it is 2 nights there and then they will be flying home. James came back from Kent.He had a lovely meal last night with Jess .He was only here for about an hour and then gone again. He has picked up clean clothes for work and as I was feeling generous has taken food that will see him sorted for the next 3 nights. :-D Even a Rib Eye Steak.I thought he was going to be here to eat tonight so I bought 3 .I reckon he will be having that to eat tonight lol.
The puzzle is almost done we are getting there..I will hang the flags out when all the bits finally are in. I did suggest we don't have another one next Christmas :-D :-D

Happy Anniversary Gill and Glynn, hope you have a great day.
Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for a few days (few???) but things have been a bit hectic here. Well, not hectic but Carmel hasn't been very well and now has a bad cold which seems to be going right through her. So we haven't been out much as you can guess and there isn't much happening only to be concerned what is happening in Dublin with Carmel's brother and his wife Deirdre, who is back in the hospital .
We also had some bad news about our granddaughter Siobhan who has been suffering for some time since she just bent down in her class (she's a school teacher) and something happened in her leg. She has been going back and forth to hospital in Derby, has had one small operation, but has now been told by a consultant that she has a bone disease. It seems that her bones just won't take any knocks or sudden movements and she has been told to take things very easy and not to go to the gym. With two youngsters (plus O H ) she will find this difficult and we worry now for her feature as she is only in her early thirties. I'll let you know if there is anything else on this as time goes on.
Matthews new bride Emma is now half way through her pregnancy so we should be welcoming our latest great-grandchild about May time. Can't tell you the gender as they don't want to know, looking for a surprise I guess, let's face it, it's only a choice of two !!!
Well, I guess that's all I've got for now. As we all like talking about food, we have a piece of lamb in the slow cooker with chopped onion and a herby gravy, so looking forward to that. plus saute potatoes and carrots. Some trifles in the fridge for 'afters' so looking forward to that later on.

Afternoon all, We have a lovely sunny day it's nice to see the blue sky .
<3 Happy Anniversary Gill and Glyn hope you have had a good day and have managed to have a nice trip out some where in the car .
Family came this morning they all come in like a whirl wind ,boots and shoes go every where and coats go on the sofa in the conservatory ,it's Chelsea who usually says nanny i'am hungry as she knows i will get the biscuit tin out or they have some fruit . Jake is off with the school tomorrow on a trip to the science museum in London so he has an early start as they leave at 7-30 and won't be home until 8 in the evening. They are allowed to take five pounds spending money with them but i don't think that will buy much with London prices , i suppose the school has to set a limit though and not every family can afford to give their child money .
Time for a cuppa i think ,i have the beef in so that's cooking nice and slowly and smelling good .

No it's only a check up Mel, but you never know what she might find!!!!! Roast chicken for lunch here with home grown brussels and spuds. Plums (home picked!!) and custard for pudding! Our paddock is so full of water that poor old Merlin can only go out on it for about an hour a day, if only it could stop raining!!! OH is ordering a few odds and ends on Amazon, and Mole Valley! Heaven only knows why or what !! Some wheeze he's up to no doubt! If I ask, he'll just be vague!!! He has had a look at our raspberry canes, and is concocting a plan to stop them for taking over the veg patch like they did last year. He's always up to something which makes me suspicious!!! :-|
