Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Jan 2016 10:57

Morning all,

We have sunshine this morning and v ery nice it is too.

You sound busy Fiona. Are you doing that with the children?

Shopping day for me again today, just the usual Morrison's in Bideford. That will be two days on the trot I have been out and about.

Nothing more to report this morning so far.

Good morning everyone.

Hi to Mel & David.

Snow has gone now, only lasted a couple of days, I am glad it means I can walk about and not be so apprehensive of falling down

Been busy down at the church centre doing coffee duty and collecting card etc for our next Messy Church activity which is on Saturday 30th January. Topic who is Jesus , (Epiphany ) My craft is an cardboard anchor fastened on with paper chains to a background of Blue cardboard which representing the sea
and the text is Jesus is the anchor in my soul, very simple which is good for very young children.

Good morning Mel and all the others.
Your mention of your OH using a stick reminds me.
I've to return some equipment to City Loan Equipment
namely 1 commode, I WC height increaser, 1 caddy on castors and 3 sticks
You must have to buy your own from here on? Will see, make them an offer?

Sorry Annx, I didn't know you'd sold. Must have been Gill I meant. I apologise

Oh's knee was a bit better today and he has been useing my walking stick rather than the walker thing. I have to be carefull when I get up in the night to get past the walker as the door is on oh's side of the bed and I sleep the other side so have to get round the bottom of the bed and nearlly always bang my leg on the bed end which is wooden and gets me just below my thigh.

Pleased you're getting your new motor tomorrow Jane
Drive carefully, make allowances until you're used to it.
And good luck :-D :-D

Anne Report 18 Jan 2016 19:46

Good luck with your new car Jane.

Not much happened here today I have been quite lazy, Amy had her usual walk and not so cold here today all though the forecast is -3 tonight. I feel the cold so it's bed jacket and bed socks for me this weather, the heating gets turned down after 10 pm but not off.

I have just read.on the BBC website that they are closing down Friends Reunited, I did occasionally go on there but not for some time.

We had cottage pie tonight with cauliflower cheese and runner beans, the dish washer is doing the washing up at the moment.

Hope you enjoy the football Frank, did you remember the doggie treats?

Frank

Frank Report 18 Jan 2016 19:20

Glad to see you are about. I thought you had all hibinated against this cold spell lol

Leek pie wasn't up to scratch. Ros thinks it was the pastry. She's not sure how long it had been in the freezer. But we still are it, and I'm not complaining.

Sorry Jane, What car are you having now, my brain just doesn't seem to hold things like it use to ;-) ;-) ;-) When do you get your new suite ?? I bet Thomas is glad he has a BIG OVERCOAT on his body in this weather (his fur) !!

Ros has caught up with all her recorded soaps this afternoon. So tonight she is upto date as they come on. I have been on here or reading my book.

Tony rang and I am going out tonight to watch the match after all. I will take an old paper to put across the windscreen, as he never seems to use his blower. Val (his wife) use to say it made the battery go down. I told you she was silly <3 <3

We have had trouble with leaky rims on the alloys, I am getting quotes to see how much refurbishment of the wheels will be. MORE EXPENSE !!!

Better go and freshen up, ready for Tony's call at 7.45 pm.

Be good, see you later.

I often get my night things on early, especially in winter Mandy. It just feels comfy and cosy to be ready for bed!! I tell OH he can answer the door if anyone comes. I like the 'tonight' honey and mustard sauce too, oh and a nice crunchiness to a crumble is perfect! Yum, yum. I think the tyre inflator you mention would be a good idea so thank you and I'll look into it.

You have been busy Mel! So you are making a pompom fairy too.........I shall want to see pics of them all. How is your OH's knee today?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 18 Jan 2016 19:03

Yes it was the usual Honey and Mustard Chicken Jane and very nice it was too ,the Crumble was nice and crunchy on the top and we're both full up ,we had our meal early tonight so i've just nipped up and had a shower and i put my nightie on so i hope no one comes to the door .
Jane what colour is your new car ?
The jig saw roll was good we rolled the completed jig saw up and then unrolled it and it was all intact ,so they do work .

Oh Ann i hate it when a warning light comes on ,i never know if i should keep going or stop ,i have to get the book out and try and find what the sign means .
Your poor leg you'll be stiff tomorrow with all that pumping up of the tyres , hubby has a tyre pump that plugs into the ciggy lighter, he does his van and the car with it, you need to get one of those it would be easier on your legs , do new cars still have the ciggy lighter bit ?

Mel your friend should be as warm as toast in her new fleece nightie :-)

I was thinking the other day about Flannelette sheets ,i use to love them they were so warm and cosy on the bed ,i suppose you can still buy them .

Jane

Jane Report 18 Jan 2016 18:22

Mel I just have never been that happy with my Renault Captur.Just niggly things and i still convinced it pulls to the left even though they said there was nothing wrong.I jsut hope I haven't made a wrong choice with the new one.It will take time to get used to the size of it,especially parking and driving through narrow streets.I would hate to knock off everyones wing mirrors on cars parked along the narrow roads !!!! :-S.I'm sure I will soon get used to it.

A nice warm nightie sounds a good present for your friend :-D...I have to take my nightie off every night as I get too hot :-S.Buy I keep it handy to put on when I have to get up tho let Thomas out.

I am getting a sign that I need to update something so will do that now.

David, we accepted an offer on the house before Christmas and it is just the registering of the title deeds we are waiting for. It takes about 8 weeks to do that and of course they would not have been working over Christmas and the New Year.

Well I'm boiling after being outside Jane and so is OH!! lol We've been pumping my and his tyres up with my new double barrelled pump I got last summer. All the tyres were down 2-3lb on both cars (no punctures thank goodness!), but we had to do mine TWICE as I was reading the dial with pounds on at first instead of the one with bars!!!! He wasn't impressed!! lol. We had to take turns and decided we both need to get fitter!!! My right leg is like jelly now, but all the warning lights are out. It must be the cold temperatures that have just lowered the tyre pressures enough to trigger the sensors. It must have happened on all the cars I've had but with no sensors you don't know. :-S At least I won't worry if it happens in cold weather again now. I had that trouble with the seals on my old car Mel. They went down so gradually I didn't realise at first.

How exciting Jane!! Make sure you have taken your neck protector off the seat belt if you have one.......OH forgot and left mine in his old car. I bet it will be good to see your old car go as you were never really happy with it right from the start. I bet you will be able to chat with the lorry drivers sitting so high up! ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2016 18:00

So new car tomorrow then Jane. I bet you are getting all excited now.......Hope it is better than the last one as you did'nt have much luck with that one did you.

Good you have chosen your cushion covers too.

Ann if you have a tyre that has gone down a bit it may be the seal on the rim and not a slow punchture.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2016 17:55

here I am back from my travels. Got all the chickens food anda few more balls of wool and some lollie sticks for another project but first I must finish the ones I have started.

Got some wired ribbon for my pom pom fairy to use for wings.

Now whats all this about you have nobody to talk to Frank. I did say I was going out.
I did'nt get back till three mins to four and brought fish and chips in with me so then we had those and then it was time to corn the chickens and then I unloaded all the bird food I bought and it was time to shut the chickens in. Then I made myself a COT and sat here to read the posts.

Got a nighty for Di's birthday present as she is always cold winter or summer. Its a fleece one so that should keep her warm.

David Report 18 Jan 2016 17:04

Hello Annx and all. I'm surprised your tyres need inflating so soon on a brand new car. Some one hasn't been letting them down? I used to have foot pump in the boot.

I hope it sells at a price you'd be expecting Did you contact those I posted?
A sale in 7 days guaranteed (not always the price you want) or 100% market value in 28 days.
Now that does sound reasonable There would be their fee of course but you have that with the agent you're using.

Jane

Jane Report 18 Jan 2016 16:54

I'm here now too :-D
I have been out this morning ordering the suite and choosing material for the scatter cushions. One side of the cushions has to be the same as the suite so it was just the other side I had to choose..Hope I have made the right choice :-S

Pick the new car up in the morning :-D,so I have just emptied it of all my belongings .Not that there was much in there. It was in fact very tidy (for a change).

The temp is really dropping now.I think you are right Frank and it is going to be a very very cold night .The coldest so far of the winter. Our heating will be kept on all night.

Mandy is it your usual Honey and Mustard 'tonight'`? I like that one too.
We have Pork Chops in Mustard ,Cider and Apples with sage. But I am still defrosting the blooming chops :-S.I'll bung a couple of baked potatoes in the oven .I was going to do mash as that goes well but haven't enough spuds for that.

'cor I just went out to fill the window feeder AGAIN and my fingers nearly dropped off whith the cold. They are stinging now.Thomas is out on the range.I can't imagine he will be out too late.

Oh Ann that must have been a bit worrying having that warning light come on.I hate it when that happens when you are driving along.Hopefully there is nothing wrong with your tyres. You don't think there might be a slow puncture in one do you?
It is going to be freezing in the morning sitting in th new car with the salesman while he goes through all the workings with me.We will have to have the engine running I think.
Then it will be off to the nearest garage to fill it up.There will not be much diesel in it.They weren't willing to give me a full tank.

I must have a look at my emails as I haven't looked so far today.

Annx

Annx Report 18 Jan 2016 16:06

Afternoon All,
.
I'M HERE TO TALK TO FRANK! :-) I enjoyed the emails this morning and missed them while you were away. Yes, however did we cope with work? Getting up at 6.00am, dinner to get when you got home. Evenings spent renovating an old house and garden or playing badminton and shopping, cleaning and gardening at the weekend.

I like honey and mustard chicken Mandy.......and apple crumble! I did a big stirfry for lunch with some of the Christmas turkey out of the freezer, followed by WW Banoffee yoghurt. This cold weather makes me hungry!

I went to the bank this morning and a warning light in a funny symbol came on in my car, I couldn't see what it meant as the handbook was at home so I turned around and headed back. Then the penny dropped, the symbol was of a tyre cut in half so was obviously to do with the tyre pressures I presume. I carried on and did my errands and have left the car to cool down before I blow the tyres up......they don't look at all flat. Why it didn't just say low tyre pressures like before I don't know.

David, we'll be very glad when MIL's house is sold, being such an old property it's just a worry while it is empty and on our hands. We are now also having to use our own funds to pay for FIL's care home costs till then as well. We are hoping to hear something in the next few weeks. :-)

I was going to go with OH to Lincoln tomorrow after the hairdressers as he has a meeting there, but the bead shop that I wanted to visit doesn't seem to be there anymore as the phone sounds disconnected. :-S

Frank

Frank Report 18 Jan 2016 16:04

Hi Mandy, I felt like "JOHNNIE NO PALS"

That sounds nice for dinner tonight. We are having a leek pie with mash. Today Ros has made a nice stew for tomorrow.

It's been very cold here again today, and the frost is going to be quite widespread tonight, now Minus 4/5. So don't think I will bother with the Match at the pub tonight.

Have been searching for flights to see Conrad, but they are still over £300./£400 for returns for us both. So will leave it a few weeks and look again.

My body isn't liking this weather, I ache in all the joints of hands and legs.
Heating has been on all day, and we will continue to do so, until it warms up a bit ;-) ;-) ;-)

I see the evenings are starting to draw out a bit. Spring will soon be here, we hope.!!!

Just watching NAT. GEO. very good programmes in the afternoon.

See you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2016 11:06

Morning all,

Done loads this morning but the weather is not good. It's quite warm but it is raining that horrid fine stuff that gets ev erywhere.

Iv'e put the dustbin out and missed the recykling (sp). Fed the phesants cos they were asking for corn, five of them all girls and fed the chickens and bantams. Filled up the worm pot for Robby and Jenny Wren but I hav'nt fed the wild birds yet and they will be looking for their breccie.

I have to go into Holsworthy for pellets and corn and wild bird food as they are eating me out of house and home at the moment. I hav'nt a scrap of sunflower kernals left, not much seed but plenty of peanuts as I bought a sack. I did buy some fat blocks when I went to Bideford because they sell them in threes for £1.69 and they are a £1 each in Holsworthy. They only last them about three days sometimes shorter depending on how cold it is.
