Morning Mel

That's good that your OH has sorted out a way of you watching your programmes on the big telly, pity you can't record though.

I didn't get a pic of your car either Jane :-( :-(

Morning all

Dull and cloudy here today, looks like we might get some rain later.

All this talk of holidays. I haven't been on a holiday in 13 years, the last one was for Sandra's 18th to Blackpool. We took the girls there every year when they were little and they loved it.

I spent most of yesterday asleep, I don't know what was wrong with me, I was really sleepy and slept most of the morning and only woke up because my phone was going. It was the Agent asking if we can do a viewing for a couple who are under offer, so that's booked in for Wednesday, just needs to be confirmed today as the woman was on her phone and the agent couldn't get through. It was 5.30 and the agent was shutting up shop and going home, so she said she'd try today and get back to me. I also had another call off the Agent letting me know that the lady who came the other day couldn't come back with her daughter over the weekend as her daughter was busy. The lady has a dental appointment on Monday so is hoping to come back with her daughter after then, so I'm just waiting for the Agent to ring me about that. I'm hoping I can book the two viewings on the same day as I change this place quite a bit for viewings and it would save me doing it twice.

I'm going to take a look on Find My Past today. I had a quick look yesterday and managed to sort out some of the brick wall I had with one of OH's relatives, but then hit another brick wall with them, so I'm hoping I can solve it completely today. It could take a while, if yesterday is anything to go by. I can't believe how many spelling errors there are with people's surnames, it makes it so difficult to find anything out, doesn't it?

Just had a call off the Agent confirming the new viewing on Wednesday, just waiting to hear back about the lady and her daughter now.

Going to get a cuppa then have another look on FMP
See you all later

Morning all and evening Kim,

Dull adn dull and dull here today. Not as cold as it has been but it is miserable and dos'nt give you the umph to get on with anything.

Oh has bought a new tv viewer thing which is like a stick you put in the pc and I can now watch my programs on the big telly. It's like the youview box we have that dos'nt work but it s cheaper a month than that. The only thnig is you can't record on it.

I have been around the garden looking for stuff to make these homes for what I am making. I found some good dead stuff just behind my shed up the side of the orchard. I have made three and fijnished off three more of what I am making. Oh has been out a couple of times complaining about the smell of the glue and then gone back to his study.

I typed this way before dinner and forgot to post it AGAIN...........

Evening All,

Well there's not been any oomph here today either!! I've just felt a bit down lately and lacking in motivation. Just want to lie in in the mornings and not do much when I get up. :-S There's so much I need to do as well so I'd better shake myself out of it and get on! Class starts again on Friday so I need to check I have what I need.......some more thread for a start!!

That was a bit disappointing the lady never got in touch Gill. Maybe she was a bit stiff and bruised after the fall to want to come back straightaway?

Jane, the car is a bit BRIGHT isn't it. All that free advertising you are doing driving it around for them too.......!!!

My dad always said the same about going abroad too Anne. He spent a few years in India in the forces and never wanted to go back!!!

I never went on holiday as a child till I was aged 14 when dad drove a caravan down to Burton Bradstock. Two of my friends came too and we slept in a tent. It was a nightmare as Dad was so strict and was trying to stop us girls even going for a walk off the site together or down to the beach. I hated it, but was used to how he was but it was another eye opener for my friends. After that, one friend's mum, who felt so sorry for how I was treated, used to take me down to Norfolk to the holiday chalets they owned for a week and we would help clean them ready for the season. Sometimes we'd go other weekends too if they needed extra cleaning. She had chalets at Bacton and Hemsby and once my friend could drive (she was 11 months older than me) us girls would go on our own for a weekend or a few days. I would have had no freedom at all then if it hadn't been for my friend's mum and can get quite teary at times thinking how good she was to me. I remember lying in bed at night and feeling safe there, which I didn't at home and she would even give me a goodnight kiss and tuck me in the same as her own daughter and which I'd never had at home from my parents. I loved it in Norfolk, the fresh air and sea, and we would walk some beautiful Samoyeds from a nearby farm at Happisburgh and go to Stalham Market which sold everything you could think of and hire go carts at Great Yarmouth, a boat on the Broads and once went on a 'pleasure' flight in a double winged open top plane. I haven't been abroad many times, just to Europe as neither of us like flying or crowds. Our last trip was by the Eurostar and TGV which we found to be less hassle. We enjoy our trips to Cornwall and stay at a nice modern cedar clad lodge with all mod cons and comfy beds. It is like home from home and even has a telly each!!

I can quite understand Jane ,i'am sure we all have places that have bad memories for us .
Anne Roys is still there the big store and the super market bit just over the road ,and other smaller shops i think one is a toy shop and another has childrens clothes
We have a Roys store here just out of town on the way to Tesco's not as big as the Wroxham store but they do have a good assortment of things.

Hows the little yellow car going Jane ? has it got an advertisement for the garage all over it ?
When i saw all the snow in America i thought of Sandra ,she would have a field day out there building all the snow men :-D
It did look bad out there ,all the supermarkets had sold out of essentials the shelves were bare !!

We had a week in a cottage in Brancaster Norfolk when James was still in a buggy and Hannah maybe 4yrs old.It was lovely until I had a phone call from my Mum to say my dear Dad was dying .So it was packing up swiftly ,back to Kettering and then me driving the 2CV for the very first time all the way to Plymouth.Chris gave me a crash course in getting to grips with those blasted gears .I still don't know how I managed to get to Plymouth with all the grating when changing gears and stalling at the most difficult places. All I remember about that journey is that I had the Mother of all Headaches and worrying that I would get there too late.
So Norfolk has always had a bad memory for me (Sorry Mandy) I know it is a lovely place.Chris would go back tomorrow.

It is feeling a bit nippy outside now.Nothing like the 18degs Conrad has Frank, and thankfully not as cold as Washington DC.I am sure our friends are well hunkered down now and just waiting for the Snow storms to finish.

Anne Report 23 Jan 2016 18:22

Frank do you remember Roys of Wroham? I think most of the shops there belonged to them. When we first started going in the 1950s the hire boats included a tiny sailing dinghy so that was a lot of fun. Peter loved those holidays as well but never went as a child being one of six there wasn't the cash to be spent for them. We carried on going when we had the boys but not every year. One week when they were very young we rented a bungalow in Wroxham with a motorised boat included.

Afternoon All

Frank I have just replied :-D

Well I still haven't had Hannah's postcard from Thailand!!!!...I seem to remember when she was in Peru a pos card got here 2 months later !!!
Holidays for us when I was young were mainly caravan hols at Westward Ho!,or days out.One year we did have a farm holiday in Cornwall ,and I remember my Sister and Dad helping the farmer birth a difficult calf.A rope had to be tied around 2 little legs that had birthed and the poor little thing was pulled out.Janice and Dad loved the experience.Mum and I stayed well away lol.
Then when I was 13/14 we had our first and only holiday abroad. It was a house swap and we went to Appledoorn in Holland.Dad did the driving and we got terribly lost somewhere. It was pretty late in the evening and a very kind policeman took us to a B&B for the night.Janice and I were put in a sweet littlw room in the attic and the lady made us lovely Waffles :-DWe eventually arrived at our destination much to everyones relief.Several times though Dad found himself driving on the wrong side of the road.We had a few close calls there..He never drove abroad again :-).Much to Mums relief lol

Well not a lot done here today.it has just been one of those days when no-one seems to have the oomph to do much.Chris had a bonfire and I have cleaned the floors.Thats about it..Oh I did take a pair of new trousers to be shortened and a top to have the sleeves shortened into the dry cleaners.
Dinner is a mish mash tonight. We are all having something different.Chris has some kind of ready meal.I am having eggs of some sort, and James has some spicy chicken dish.
Tomorrow I am doing Venison Casserole.

Pity you could see no planets this morning Gill.I forgot to look when I let Thomas out at 5.45.I think we still have plenty of time though.

Oh oh the fire needs attention. The last logs have almost burned away.

Anne, I loved to Norfolk Broads, I was stationed in Old Catton, Norwich for a lot of my National Service. I took every oppotunety to go to Wroxham where I could borrow a rowing boat and fish to my hearts content. Often I would fish all night in the reeds on the entrance to Wroxham Broard. After being demobed I would hire a boat or Caraven and spend Holidays there.

My wife Ros, on the otherhand. HATED Norfolk. Her Mum and Dad would take her to Gt. Yarmouth every year for their anual holidays. I don't think we have been sinc we were married in 1978. !!

Just spoken to Conrad on Skype, He showed a shot from his apartment balcony, and the sun was shining very brightly. Remembering it was 6.00 pm in Spain and around 18 degrees. Somewhat warmer than here !!!

Thanks Jane and Chris, No pain so will take your advise.

Not sure what we will eat tonight. Will decide later, then phone the order through. If it's Chinese I have a free meal to come from last week. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have just been on the computer upstairs and had a look at the e-mails.
Liz your little dog is so adorable give her a big kiss from me. Jane I also saw your photo of the yellow peril although it came out upside down Frank thank you again for all the funnies, I hope you manage to have your forty winks.

When we were mentioning going away I was like my dad for preferring home as he said he saw enough of foreign countries when he was in the 8th army, he did used to enjoy our family holidays on the Norfolk Broads we used to go every year, coming from Hastings the seaside wasn't an attraction then. Mum was the opposite and used to go with my Auntie on Saga holidays or as Dad would say "Send A Granny Away"
:-D :-D :-D

Yes There's no place like HOME. It's the same thing with Children, You love to have them but it's nice when you give them back !!!

Even though I haven't been sleeping too well, it's better to lay awake in your own suroundings.

Have just watched the Liverpool V Norwhich match on BT Sport, Couldn't believe the score. I know you are not footballs fans, but Liverpool won 5 --4. Not the most exciting match but entertaining.

Anne, Beef Wellington is so different for Sunday Dinner, that's why I asked the question. I thought I would surprise Ros, with something different in the way of veg

Dull now, so I don't think we will see the sun again today.

The Machine is buzzing away in my left ear. and the Blankets are piling up on the table. She hopes to make TWELVE by the end of the weekend. They will go back to LINUS in early February, She will bring another load back with her then.

Going to have forty winks, if I can nod off, over the sound of the machine.

To be honest Anne, we're the same. We used to do a lot of sailing many years ago, including cross channel, but now we're older, we prefer our own home, and even staying with our son, which we enjoy is a bit of an effort!! As OH says, he (and I) prefer our own bed!!!
Ann you should now be on the final lap of your in laws house sale which must be an enormous relief for you! Gill, it might be worth ringing the agent on Monday, just to see if they've had any further feed back from your lady? You never know, as there could be a perfectly valid reason why she hasn't been back to you.

Mel it was a post card but because he is abroad a lot I don't think he would bother too much about it arriving late. His next lecture with ACE is on the Cote D'azur in March but he does other lectures as well. We are complete opposites because with me I just love being at home.

Anne when you say Card did you mean a Christmas Card or a postcard? If it was a postcard tell anyone who sends a postcard from anywhere like that to put it in an envelope and it gets here much much quicker.

Anne Report 23 Jan 2016 12:02

I'm not doing much either today the sun is trying to come through it was a bit foggy earlier. I have cleaned the bathroom and downstairs cloak room plus all the towels have been in the wash and then the tumble dryer, I could go looking for more to do but at the moment I'm being lazy, Richard is taking Amy out later he hasn't been up
long. We are just having sausages, chips and baked beans plus I might fry some onions.

Frank I have only had beef wellington with all the usual vegetables it will be helpful if someone has a better idea for a change.

Your comment on sending things from Spain I don't think it's much better the other way round, I had a card from Colin when he was lecturing over there posted in December it arrived a couple of days ago, this had a Madrid post mark, he has been back in Scotland for the last 3 weeks.

Goof morning fair people, Evening Kim,

Can't say we have the SUN, because we haven't. Overcast with a breeze. Not cold out as I have been to the garage in my dressing gown.

Liz, the service from Amerzon can be exceptionally good. I am always surprised how quick things come.

I learnt something whille in Tenerife, NEVER send a packet of parcel to SPAIN/Tenerife with "URGENT" on the outside, as it automaticaly goes to MADRID. and can take 5/6 weeks to be delivered. (AS WITH CONRAD'S PASSPORT) Wilt just the address it takes about 5 DAYS. Thought I would mention it, in case anyone sends to those areas

Jane I have pmd you, I hope you don't mind.

I have started to look for a small (CHEAP) car for Lewis for his 18th Birthday in Sept. I have put out some feelers to the trade contacts I had years ago. If they are still around. !!!

Ros has gone to meet Martine the first time since before Christmas, so they will have a lot to catch up on.

I have got a beef wellington out of the freezer for tomorrow. Any ideas what to put with it, other than normal veg and spuds. ??

I must be charmed, the SUN is now shineing, and it looks a nice morning.

Not goiung out at Lunchtime, but might go out Tea Time when West Ham play Manchester City. But it might clash with the RUGBY on the T.V.at the pub.
