I meant to say next week on BBC2 at eight o'clock there's another series of Back in Time this time they are looking at how families spent their spare time starting with the fifties when leisure meant repairing or making things from scratch .

So i might have seen Foggy on here then :-)

Jane Report 26 Jan 2016 18:57

Mandy the fact it is Urgent referral is good for OH.Hopefully what ever needs doing can be done soon.
Yes I have met Foggy 3 times on Meets. He has popped in on the thread a few times in the past. What a lovely man he is :-D A real Gent :-D

Yes Mel it is the same car.I wouldn't be able to get another the same now as i had the last one in the whole country !!! They fitted the new lock and also did something with a door lock.So it should all be tickety boo now :-D..It better be .
No Mandy I wasn't sorry to see the Yellow Peril go...even though I had got quite used to driving it .I told them at the garage that I hadn't replaced any fuel that I had used. They were fine with that .I had only done about 40miles.

Oh Mel your poor Chickens in all that mud and wet :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jan 2016 18:42

I think Foggy knows Jane from meeting they have attended Mandy.

I too meant to say when I was young there was a lady round the corner who had a black standard poodle bitch and she used to put a pair of black knickers on her with half a pad in when she was on heat. She had a hole cut in the draws for her tail to come out.

ell I did it, the shopping. It is so windy here and wet with it. When I parked in Morrisons car park and opened the door the wind nearly took the door off. Just as well the space next to me was'nt taken or the door would have hit the car.

There is so much water on the roads or running across the roads every time a car goes past you it sprays all the water over your car and if a lorry passes it goes right over the roof!! Just as the ground was starting to dry out too and I was'nt gettiing stuck in the mud in the chicken run anymore.

Ann I would also have loved to come to the lecture thing tonight. I also loved Time Team and are very sad they are not making it anymore but do watch it on catch up or when they are on More 4 in the afternoon sometimes we watch it.

I am starving tonight. I just had a couple of slices of bread this morning when Di came so I could take my pills and a small drop of milk as I won't drink coffee if I am going out and thenwent shopping. Did'nt buy anything to eat in the shop for lunch and when I got home oh made a COT and we had a doughnut each. Tonight he has a curry and I have one of those Bisto roast beef dinners with extra yorkshire puds. Nice and easy as oh does all that so I let him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gives me a night off. tomorrow I shall do the sausage try bake with loads of veg which is also nice and easy.

So two viewing s tomorrow now Gill. Better to get them all done in one day. Good luck.

Jane at last you have your car back, thank goodness. What a lot of mucking about. Is it the same car with a new boot catch? or a complete new car?

Evening all,

Very windy here it seems to have got stronger as the day has gone on ,we have had rain but it was very patchy rain not really enough to wet the ground but you could feel it on your face .

I hope the viewing goes well tomorrow Gill ,i'am glad you have heard from the lady who wants to come back with her daughter i think that sounds quite promising and if she knows you have another viewing after hers she might put an offer in ,i'll keep everything crossed for you .

You'll have to let us know how the talk goes tonight Ann i should think it will be an interesting one.

We have been later going to bed since hubby has not been going to work and we tend to lay in in the mornings too.
Hubby has heard about his xray they did on his hip , he has the letter that they have now passed on to the surgeon at the hospital i think it says he has a loose hip joint and some thing about medalisation of the cup :-S there's so many long words that it takes some reading ,so we'll know more when he sees the surgeon which we hope won't be to long a wait , it does say on the letter Urgent Referral !!

How did you get on paying your tax Frank ? did the link Gill give you help? we got son to pay ( with hubby's card ) hubby's tax for us on line last July as i couldn't find how to do it and he had trouble finding the right way to do it too , we were lucky this time he got some back so there's nothing to pay at the end of this month ,just some to pay in July .

Oh poor little Amy Anne ,our old boy Toby would do that a times mainly when he was frightened by some thing ., you saying about Tenna Ladys made me think about hubby's niece when her dog came into season she would pop a pair of her knickers on the dog :-D she kept them on too :-D

Liz i meant to say what a lovely sunrise yesterday on the photo's you sent you have a lovely view across the fields .

Glad to hear you have your car back at last Jane ,were you sad to see the yellow peril go back ;-) :-D i expect not !! :-D
Hope all goes well tomorrow with the MRI and the hip xrays .

Hi to Foggy , have you been on here before sorry i don't remember you if you have .

Jane Report 26 Jan 2016 17:53

Afternoon All
Ann ,I bet the talk will be really interesting tonight.Like you right up my street :-D
Oh yuk DOG POO on OH's shoes and both of them too !!!.He didn't do it by halves did he :-S..I think having a tray to put your shoes in is a very good idea.Trouble in this household I wouldn't find a big enough tray for all our shoes.Well Chris and James's.

Ann poor Amy having a lady leaky problem.I was in the pet shop this morning and saw Doggie Nappies !! for exactly that problem. Not that i would want to put a dog in nappies unless it was really necessary.

So more viewings then Gill. They are coming fast now aren't they. You might get a shock and get an offer LOL.Then what will you do !!!
Nice for OH to do the hoovering.Chris does sometimes give me a hand with the housework ,but normally it is if I ask or like yours has been a bit moody or grumpy and then feels 'guilty'.That is his was of apologising lol

Frank Lewis will be so pleased with whatever car you get him.I know you said he had passed his theory test.Has he taken the driving one yet.(sorry if I have missed a post saying he has)

I certainly couldn't go to bed as late as many of you here.I would be like a wet weekend in the mornings.

My visit to the GP went ok this morning.Just one part of my blood test was slightly raised and most likely to do with my Arthritic hips.Tomorrow when I go for my MRI on my head I will then go to Xray and have both hips Xrayed.
Got my car back !!!! :-D :-D :-D.All seems fine now.

The wind is a blowin' big time here now.Not much rain though which is good. The black bin has just gone out .No chance of it blowing away in the night as it is so heavy with our bags of rubbish. But we will need to watch out for the bin lorry first thing in the morning and get it in quick before it ends up down the road.We had one of those big bag things that are delivered with sand/earth etc turn up in our drive this morning.
I am pretty sure it is from next door. They have had several empty ones in their front garden for months but being the kind of people they are had just left them empty.Too lazy to get rid of them.So Chris rolled it up and shoved it back through the gap in the hedge lol.If it was me I would have stuffed it in our bin just to get rid.

We are going to see the Danish Girl tomorrow in Northampton.I think we will take my new car and give it a good run.But I will give the multistory(?sp)carpark a miss and use the open air carpark .I need to get used to the length of the car first before driving up the curly bit in the multi-storey .

Anne ..we were talking of how long mail can take....We had Hannah's postcard from Thailand today. It was posted on the 13th December !!!

You are funny Anne buying some Tenna Ladys for Amy. It's such a shame when things like that happen but sometimes it can't be helped. Is there anything the vet can do to help? At least she'll have some nice clean bedding to sleep on now :-)

I'm not sure where we will move to. We'd like to eventually move to Devon but at the moment the properties we like down there are just out of our price range, so we might have to stay around here for the time being until we can save a bit more towards the dream move.

I passed my driving test first time OH taught me then I went for a few lessons before taking my test. OH passed second time, he only failed because he clipped a curb when turning left. It was a tight turn, but never the less the examiner said had anyone been standing there he could of run over their feet, so he had to fail him. I passed my test in 1990 but I don't drive anymore after an accident we had 8 years ago. I will drive in an emergency but I'd rather be the passenger and let OH do the driving.

Going to watch Casualty I recorded with Sandra and OH now. The wind is really picking up here, but so far no rain, which is good.

magpie Report 26 Jan 2016 17:12

Anne you can still find Tony Robinson on a Sky channel. They are repeats, but we find that sometimes they're ones we've missed or ones that are well worth watching again.
OH nearly always makes a cuppa at about 7 which we have in bed listening to.Radio 4, then we get up about 8ish, OH takes Cas out, then goes to feed Merlin while I have a shower and get dressed. OH gets breakfast, toast and coffee, except Sunday, when we have boiled eggs. After breakfast he takes Cas for a proper walk, while I clear up, Merlin goes out, is mucked out, and so our day begins!!!
Must get those steaks organised!

Good Afternoon All

It's very windy here too and pouring hard but still mild.

Good luck with tomorrow's viewings Gill when you sell your home where are you hoping to move to?

Ann I too would enjoy the lecture you are going to, anything historical really interests me. History was one of my favourite subjects at school. One of my favourite programmes was time team with Tony Robinson when it was on

I usually go up to bed about ten and then read for a while and up at seven. Because Peter suffered with restless legs we had twin beds but in the same room

Lewis is a lucky young chap Frank with you buying him his first car, lets hope he passes his test first time .

I have just washed all of Amy's bed covers she has a bed in the bedroom and two downstairs she has a wee problem in that she leaks a little sometimes, she isn't aware that she's doing it I will have to buy her some Tenna ladys
:-D :-D

magpie Report 26 Jan 2016 14:59

Yes, me too Ann! If I lived close to you I'd be coming along too! Do tell us about it.
We bought our son car for his 18th birthday. It was a mini, and he was well chuffed with it. I took him out as a learner,(OH simply wouldn't have had the patience!!) and he passed his test first time a few months later. We did the same for daughter, except she had already passed her test first time (using my car!!) at 17, so she was able to jump into her mini and drive straight off! I passed my test way back in 1963 again first time as did OH, so we're hoping that our grandchildren will keep up the tradition!!!
It is an awful afternoon here and were about to watch a film!

Gillx Report 26 Jan 2016 14:42

Gillx Report 26 Jan 2016 14:36

Yes Frank we have had quite a few viewings, so many I've now lost count, but there are always people selling so plenty of them wanting to take a look that I doubt we'll ever run out. It gives me something to do and also my place is nearly always clean and tidy, so that's a positive.

The lady who wanted to bring her daughter on a second viewing has finally got back to us. The Agent rang just as I was about to get in the bath and they are coming tomorrow before the other couple, so that's two viewing's tomorrow.

OH is off today so we're going to take a quick look online for properties just in case the second viewing lady puts in an offer. She must be keen if she wants to bring her daughter to take a look. She doesn't have anything to sell so that's good as there'll be no chain. If we can find an empty property then everything should move along nicely for everyone. I did find a property this morning but it needs quite a bit of work on it and is 25k more in price than next door sold last year and next door was extended so if we go for it then we'll be knocking them down quite a bit.

https://www.gov.uk/topic/dealing-with-hmrc/paying-hmrc

Not sure if this link will help Frank, but it might be worth taking a look. Hope it helps.

I've just finished drying my hair so now I'll get the straighteners on it to take a way the frizz :-D :-D :-D
See you all later

Annx Report 26 Jan 2016 14:28

Chores have always been shared here as I worked full time too till I was aged 54. Then I did take on the bulk of them as it was only fair as OH was still working and travelling over 100 miles every day with his job. Once he retired from his main job he took on more chores, but he still does far less than me!!

When OH worked we would be in bed at 9.00pm except for the nights he went to matches. My sleep has got worse though and l am often still awake at 2.00 or 3.00am. Other nights I wake at 4.00am and don't go back to sleep again at all. I don't eat after 6.00pm, so it isn't that and I don't drink caffeinated drinks at all so it isn't that. Despite sharing beds to watch tv etc at night and in the mornings, we use seperate bedrooms, set up with the same beds for sleeping, so we don't disturb each other. I always find it easier to go back to sleep in the morning than get off to sleep at night. I think the years of having hot flushes at night with disturbed sleep must have trained me into bad sleeping habits! :-S

I'm off to a talk in the chapel in next village tonight. The speaker is the University of Leicester Archaeological Services Fieldwork director and was behind the Richard 111 discovery. He is talking about the archaeology of the Leicester's Franciscan Friary which is where Richard was buried and later became a car park. It's right up my street and only 3 miles away!!

Frank Report 26 Jan 2016 14:16

Afternoon all,

What a horrible day. so windy with heavy showers thrown in for good measure. What's the old saying "not fit to put a dog out in this"

Would you believe it would be so difficult to pay a "TAX BILL" on line. I have typed in HMRC and get loads of "AGENTS" wanting to take money from me, to do the JOB for me. I'v given up for now. It's due by the 31st January.

Gill, you will soon be running out of prospective buyers. How many have you had now ??

I tend to be in bed by 11.00 ish. Ros likes to watch her Jewellery programmes and comes in between 12.30/1.00 am. I am often awake when she comes in. This could by why I don't sleep, expecting her to disturb me when she comes to bed.

Shin of beef in a casserole tonight, with various veg and mashed potato's I put it on low for about 3 hours, the meat melts in the mouth. I might pop a rice pudding in the bottom of the oven for Ros tonight.

magpie Report 26 Jan 2016 13:36

I think we've all got our own way of carrying on, and OH and I have always done things in tandem on a day to day basis, more so since retirement. I do agree with you Gill over chores! and I firmly think they should be shared, again particularly after retirement!
More viewings Gill!! I have a gut feeling that your luck could be about to change!! Fingers crossed!

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Jan 2016 13:11

I guess it's really windy where you are too Liz. Poor little Cas nearly getting blown away.

I like the way you said your OH got up in the night for a leak Mel, it did make me laugh. It sounds like you got a bargain with your oil, that should last you a while.

I go to bed really late too. Normally between 1am and 2am and most of the time I'm up before 9am in the mornings. If I went to bed at 10pm I wouldn't be able to sleep. The only time I go to bed early is if I haven't slept the night before. I pull a lot of all nighter's when we're doing big jobs, or I might go to bed early if I'm ill. It's just become the norm for me to stay up late.

OH and I do go to bed at the same time, but then OH will sleep in late on his days off. Yesterday it was gone 11.30 in the morning. If I slept that long I'd wake up with a bad headache. I've always been the same. My mum used to joke and say that once a month I'd come home from school have my tea and go straight to bed and sleep right through till the morning....she said I was recharging my batteries :-D :-D :-D

Sandra goes to bed late but then she doesn't get up till almost lunch time, so she's like me a bit of a night owl. Sometimes OH falls asleep on the sofa before going to bed, even though I've said to go to bed......silly really as he has to get up early for work, but I suppose it's his choice.

Well, the hoovering's done and ready for tomorrow's viewing, I'm off for a bath now, then I'll change the bedding, as that needs doing too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jan 2016 13:03

I usually go to bed about 1.45am to 2am. I got in the habit when mum was alive as thats the time she would come into the kitchen feeling bad. It seems to have stuck. I don't get up early though, usually about 9.30am or it has been as late as 11am as it was today. If I go to bed when oh does he goes about the same time as you, he has the telly on and I don't like that. It has to be dark with no flashing lights for me to sleep.

I do find a couple of glasses of port help sometimes. I can go to bed and fall asleep straight away.

Off shopping now as I had'nt gone earlier as Di called in for coffee but she has just left now so I am off too.
