Morning all

Really windy here today, much worse than the other day. A roof tile has slipped down so I'll have to ask OH to pop it back in. A few fell down the other day and he tried to put them back when he got in from work, but it was dark, which is probably why one of them has come loose again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHRIS hope the weather isn't to bad for you both when you go out later.

Hope all goes well for you today Mel.

Sorry to hear you've had another bad night Frank. Try and remember the good memories. They say that music and smells can trigger off memories, maybe that's what's happened to you. Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I've just stripped the beds so the first load is in the washing machine now. I meant to do them all the other day but only got one done. I was a bit concerned that we might get a second viewing and I didn't want the beds stripped and the washing machine going if that happened, so I thought I'd get it all finished today instead.

Nothing much doing today, so I might catch up with a few more recordings and get some more of my family tree done. I've still got a few more people to put on, so that should keep me busy today.

Going to get a cuppa now, see you all later <3

Morning Anne and all, Evening Kim,

Another night clock watching. I went to bed soon after I signed out and listened to the radio. Just as I was settling down, they played Luther Van Dross singing "Dance with my Father again" Which took me back 60 years to the time he was dying with Cancer. How stupid that a song can do that to you. Then the momories came flashing back into my head. I finally gave up at 5.00 am and came out to make a COT. It's 58 years tomorrow at 4.00 am when he died. And 52 years at 11.30 since my Daughter was Born.

Conrad said there is help out there, to help me forget this episode in my life. But do I realy want it at my age, Momories are all I realy have.

We have the wind and rain back this morning, nothing like Scotland and the isles with 110/115 MPH winds. How is it down South Mel.??

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS" I hope you have a good one, enjoy yout lunch out and keep an eye on Jane ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros has just come out so I am off to make more tea.

See you later.

Thanks for all the good wishes for me tomorrow. The do say if you are smaller in that area that its worse!!

O Liz thats why is it? I did'nt know that about Mole Valley. I did notice that when I went to get oh new cotton draws that they only had white ones and not the Woleley ones he likes. Can you imagine farmers draws if they wear white ones?? That is what I thought. I felt sorry for the wives who have to wash all the grease and mud stains out let alone anything else!

Signing out now so saying night night.

Frank Report 28 Jan 2016 21:16

Evening all,

Just had a call from Harvey and Lewis. They thought we were away for TWO WEEKS. Lewis takes his driving test in April/May. I mentioned I was looking for a car for him, and had he any preference. He said a Jaguar S type would be nice or an Audi. Cheeky little begger. But it mustn't be a Ford KA as he would have the micky taken out of him. I would have been pleased with anything at his age. !!!

Conrad is about one and a half hours from Alicante. So a good round trip. He has also asked Jan to send some different parts for his computer, so some of the repairs will be DIY.

Mandy, Do you have a ROY'S store near you ?? I know they virtually owned Wroxham, but didn't know they had branched out. !!

Mel, I think you have mentioned "KNOW IT ALL" before. Is he the usual driver ??

Liz, a bit of cover will be good if it saves you getting wet going to the workshops. I often wish we had some sort of cover to the Garage when it's raining.

Gill I am sure if you can move a couple of Grand. with no work for the prospective buyers to do, you should be able to clinch a deal with them. GOOD LUCK. <3 <3 <3

Jane, Where are you going to take Chris tomorrow. ?? The Pheasant or Barton Hall. I must come over some time so YOU CAN TREAT ME TO LUNCH at one of them :-D :-D :-D I loved going to the Pheasant at lunchtime for Pate and toast and a pint. Also thr pub in the village on the left before Woodford. Can't think of the name. Have you been to the STAR at Geddington. Lovely meals there years ago,

I can't settle this evening, I had a funny turn earlier and felt I was going to pass out. I am so HOT, I am down to my u/pants, and have a throbbing headache. I think I will give in to it all, and go to bed.

Good luck tomorrow Mel, Ros always said it wasn't a nice experience. :-( :-( :-(

Night Night all, see you in the morning.

Jane pleased to hear your MRI scan and Xray went OK. I had to have a CAT and MRI scan when first diagnosed with cancer after they had found the cancer had spread into my lymph glands its not a nice experience. I will never go into a lift and have always walked up stairs how ever many flights there are..

Ann that talk you went to sounded so interesting, we are just about to watch "Britain's Bloody Crown" on channel 5

David to help your leg have you considered buying a recliner chair so that you are not confined to your bedroom.

Gill It sounds as if you may get an offer from one of your recent viewings, good luck with them.

Frank I would like to see Ros's blankets too please.

I always think having a mammogram is like someone really heavy standing on your foot once it's removed the pain goes immediately.

The weather has been lovely here today the sun was so warm on my back when I took Amy out. Sainsbury delivery today so we are fully stocked up again now.

magpie Report 28 Jan 2016 18:45

Mel, apparently Mole Valley was taken over by a Venture Capalist Company, a year or so ago and that's why it's not the nice cheap outlet that it used to be! As OH said today, it's just not the place it used to be! That's progress for you I guess!!!
Its only a small walk to the yard Jane, partly under cover from the bungalow overhang, and then through a gate and your there!!! It means we can get to OH's workshop, Merlin's stable, feed store, and machinery shed in the dry. The rain we get, it'll be a bonus!
Have just watched, on catchup, the story of Nicholas Winton, the man who organised the Kindertrain. It's wonderful story, a real tearjerker. Apparently the UK and Sweden were the only countries who would take these children! Makes you think!! Winton was 106 when he died in 2015.

Evening all,

What a lovely day it's been here with a clear blue sky so i striped the bed this morning and as it was nice out with a good blow i chanced it and hung them out , they were dry in no time and came in smelling so fresh .

I seem to have been on the go all day, went to Tesco and hoped i could park in town to call into boots for hubby's tablets on the way home but no such luck no spare spaces at all so i walked up after putting the shopping away.

Ann that talk sounded so interesting ,i should imagine that the place was quite full at only £2 to go in .

I think you did well to go in the scanner Jane ,i think i would have to be knocked out to go in one ,i just know i would panic as i don't like being closed in .
I remember being on holiday on one of the Greek islands once and getting in a small lift and it stopped ,my sister panicked and her little grandaughter was in with us and i could see she was getting frightened so i had to calm them both down as they both started to cry, we weren't stuck for very long but boy was i glad to get out, we never used the lift again after that we used the stairs .

So it's a wait and see time then Gill , lets hope the lady can talk her husband round and that they pick your place

Oh dear Frank poor Conrad must be annoyed he has computer trouble ,how far is Alicante from him ?

When i called into Roys for some bird seed this morning as walked past the the towels i noticed they had those long handled scrunchies for the shower so i bought a couple ,so i'll be trying it out later .

So you had a good day out then Liz and Cas was a good girl , we like Mole Valley too they have all sorts in there.

Ohhh good luck tomorrow Mel with the booby squashing :-0 why do they have to squash them so hard !! :-(

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Jan 2016 18:20

Sounds like you had a good day Liz, Cas is such a good girl isn't she? I bet you're all tired now.

Hope the weather is nice for you Jane when you go out tomorrow for your OH's birthday.

Pleased you didn't forget the library Mel. Yes it does sound like he just wanted the day off doesn't it, with him not being at the home......cheeky thing :-D :-D

Well, I finally got round to watching War and Peace, all four of them, so I'm up to date with it now.

Going to sort out dinner be back later.

Ouch Mel..Squashes B**bs in that vice is uncomfortable and sometimes painful isn't it.
Mine must be due in about a year.
No nothing else for Chris's birthday.Although James says he will cook a meal for us all on Saturday :-D.It's not a big birthday.he will be 63,also he doesn't like a fuss and to be in the limelight .He made me promise not to ask for a sparkler or anything at lunch tomorrow LOL..I assured him I haven't :-D..I wouldn't dare !!! He would be mortified lol.
Thomas is in and NOT HUNGRY :-S He has crashed out under the radiator.Hasn't even walked as far as his blanket on the settee !!!!!!..Full tummy me thinks !

We just can't seem to get out of this bloomin rainy spell can we? Weget one reasonable day and then rain again and again.

I have a b**b squashing session tomorrow. I only have to go to Holsworthy so not too far.

Sounds like you had a nice day today Liz. I always like a look around Mole Valley when I go to Holsworthy. They seem to have gone into a lot of more expensive clothes in there now. You could really get some good deals in there years ago.

Jane are you doing anything else for Chris's birthday other than lunch?

Good day then Liz :-D...That will good to be undercover to get to the Yard. How far is it?
Pitch black here now and not very nice.Just waiting for Thomas to turn up .This is when it would be good to have a cat flap, instead of having to go and open the back door all the time to see if he is there. But as I said before we don't want all sorts being brought in,which is what would happen .Fitz tells us horror stories all the time with what his cat Podge drags in through his cat flap .It doesn't bare thinking about :-S
The other day he had a Rat,the remains of several mice, and a bird !!!!.I don't think he has a Squirrel or a Pheasant for a while lol

magpie

magpie Report 28 Jan 2016 16:55

No I don't think you would see bed sores like that these days!! Any care facility would be in a lot of trouble if that was the case.
We've had a lovely day. OH collected some corrugated roof sheets to complete the walk from the bungalow to the yard which will then be undercover! Had a mosey round Mole Valley and bought a few bits and bobs. We then went to friends and had lunch which was lovely. They thought Cas had grown a lot, and was a real darling! (she behaved well!) and have now got back, brought Merlin in, given Cas a run, and are having a cuppa! Scrambled egg for supper, cooked by OH, so no trouble!
It's looking very dark here, more rain on the way - sadly!!

Afternoon All

Ann,what an amazing talk that was.Like Frank I was well 'into ' your post.Fascinating stuff. You have a way of describing things so well that it draws us in :-D

I hope Conrad can get his computer sorted swiftly Frank. Is Alicante far for him to go?

Yes a little voice would come through the scanner asking if I was ok and I was doing fine and that it would just so more many minutes left to go.When I was sitting outside the room waiting for my turn I could here the man telling the chap who was being scanned to breath in ,hold breath and then breath normally..I found myself doing that too LOL
That infection you had is a very very nasty one.Often caught from undercooked chicken at BBQs.One of Chris's GP partners had it and he lost over 2 stone and was off work for weeks and weeks. He said he has never been so ill .

David Bed sores are really quite preventable with good nursing .It think it is shocking when people actually die from infected pressure sores.I think now with special beds and mattresses it does help an awful lot, especially these days when Nurses are so stretched that they do not always have the time to 'turn' patients .I remember seeing the most horrendous bed sores when I was nursing .Dreadful :-S :-S

So Gill it is a waiting time to see which bungalow this couple will go for.I do hope the wife wins and they buy yours. That would be just perfect :-)

I have been to the hairdressers this afternoon so am all nice and tidy again :-D.

The wind is picking up here now.Looks like we are in for some nasty weather.Especially tomorrow. We are going out too for Chris's Birthday lunch.I have all his presents wrapped now and put away.

I can see spots of rain on the window...Bet Thomas will be in soon :-D..I doubt he will be eating much as I have seen more signs on the Patio of him having some meals :-S
Talking of meals I need to make sure the chicken breasts are defrosted !

Went to the library so I did'nt forget and my nice lady was driving it today and not the know it all man who is the real driver. He had rung Julie to see if she could drive it today as he had to go and see his mum in the home. The home is just down the road so I was told and Julie calls there for the old folk to get their books etc. They told her he had'nt come so Julie thinks he just wanted a day off.

Well the sun disappeared and then it rained so the washing had to come in and go in the dryer and then the sun came out again a bit later. At this moment in time it has gone again!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish it would make its mind up :-S

Frank I would like to see the childrens covers Ros is making too please?

Gillx Report 28 Jan 2016 13:10

Sorry to hear Conrad has had problems with his computer. He wasn't trying to put Windows 10 on was he? I've heard all sorts of stories about that versions and none of it good. It messes up your computer and everyone I know who has gone to Windows 10 has had to pay someone to put it back to the older version they were on in the first place. It's put me right off. Plus I heard that you will have to pay a subscription soon to have Windows 10 if you don't take them up on their free offer. Although I can't see it being free for long, I'm sure they'll charge you anyway in the long run.....I'm sticking with what I have for now.

Fancy not washing your hands before eating Frank, that certainly was a lesson well learnt wasn't it? Glad to hear you got through it. I doubt you'll make that mistake again.

Got another phone call off the Agent, this time with feedback from the lady and her daughter. Apparently the daughter feels there is to much work to be done on this place so has advised her mum not to bother putting in an offer. Her mum is still interested though and is thinking about it. I asked what needed doing but the agent hadn't asked and the daughter couldn't talk properly as she'd been to the dentist so the agent didn't want to ring her back.

The only thing I can think of is maybe updated the kitchen units as they are a bit old, apart from that there's nothing, so I'm a bit confused now. Let's hope the other woman wins and persuades her husband to buy ours and not the one a few doors down, then I won't need to worry about the lady and her daughter.

The price difference Frank is only around £7k and we are willing to come down a few grand, so not a lot of difference in the end, compared with how much he will have to pay out on the other one to update it. Hopefully they'll be willing to pay the little extra to us and buy this place.
All I can do is wait to see what they decide.

I have found a nice little 2 bedroom bungalow in the next village, but that does needs lots of work doing on it. OH and I have always done up our properties so we don't mind having to do it again and the bonus is it's detached. At the moment we're in a semi-detached so that'll be a step up from this one. It's a lot smaller than ours but now Michelle has moved out we don't need the extra bedroom anyway. I've looked at the plans and there is a way of making it into a three bedroom if that's what we decide to do.
Something to think about for the future maybe.

Well, I've spent most of the day, so far looking for properties, so I'd better get back to my family tree, after all that's what I had planned for my day ;-) ;-) :-) :-)

I look forward to seeing the blankets Ros has made Frank, she's certainly been working very hard, hasn't she? I'm hoping to get back to my sewing once I know what's going on with all these viewings. I don't want to get my machine out just to have to put it away again, better to wait until I have some free time :-)

Frank

Frank Report 28 Jan 2016 11:47

Good morning you chatter boxs, Evening Kim,

Where do I start. ?? Ann, I bet that chap had the audience in his hands with that talk. I was getting so interested in what you were sayinbg, I thought I was there. Pity it's so far away, as I would love to get involved in something like that.

So our Jane has been through that dreaded machine. I had to go through it, first when I had all those garages fall on my head. Then when I had my stroke. As you say just keep breathing slowly and you get through it. When do you expect your results. DID THEY keep saying "Jane you are doing so well" ??? That's what I remember.

David, you are a bit sharpe today, mind you don't cut yourself lol lol.

I will get Ros to lay out her blankets/covers and I will take some photo's.

I have got the HMRC added to my favourites bar. So I know where the Bugg## is next year ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gill, I will look at the link later. It does sound like good news regarding the couple who are looking at both bungalows. Is there much difference in price, to make them decide on the other one. ?? Do you have any movement on your price that could clinch the deal ??

Many years ago, I was almost at deaths door (MANS THING) with CAMTORBACTOR (sp) We had been out for a meal on the Saturday evening, Sunday I was pottering round the garden. Sunday night I thought I was dying Sickness and the other end as well. Ros got the doctor out Monday morning, he wanted samples, and sent them away. The next thing I know I have the local health authority knocking on the door, wanting to know where I had been/ and what I had eaten. As I had only been to the pub on Saturday night, I assumed that's where I caught it. After they had been to the pub and checked everything, they came back with a clean bill of health. It turned out, I had been cleaning the fish pond pump and bird bath on Sunday.Ros bought me a coffee and a piece of cake. I HADEN'T washed my hands before eating the cake, and that's where I caught it. I was off work for over two weeks and lost over a stone in weight. LET THAT BE A WARNING TO ALL !!!

Beautiful sunny morning here, we till have a bit of wind, but nothing like yesterday.

Ros is the same as you girls with Headlights in her eyes. SHE HATES night driving even locally.. I swear a lot of car lights aren't adjusted properly. Are they part of the MOT ??

Poor old Conrad has trouble with his computer. He has to go to Alicante to a Computer expert to try to get it sorted, The problem is, it has all the business on it, and he is stuck without it.

Time for a coffee, see you later.
