Morning all, Evening Kim,

I will do my best to type in berween sneezes, I think I have sneezed 20 times already.

Didn't go out last night, as we thought the fotball would clash with the Rugby at the pub, so I watched it in the conservatory. The wind and rain was banging against the windows and roof, so was pleased I didn't go out.

Did a very silly thing last night. I had a lovely piece of Stilton and biscuits with a glass of wine. Boy did I suffer once I was in bed. I went in at 11.00 and was still awake at 2.00 am. I got up and watched T.V till 4.00 and went back to bed. I slept till 9.00.

Ros has gone to meet Martine, so I have the place to myself.

Supper sounds nice Liz, do you put anything special with the Pheasant i.e. Jams etc. ??

Hope our Jane is feeling a bit better this morning. Take it easy today my love. !!

Garden "BIRD WATCH " today. I will see if I can sit for an hour this aftrnoon, there are plenty in the garden at the moment.

Have sent a EMAIL to my Daughter, wishing her a Happy Birthday. Can't send a card, because I don't know where she lives. :-( :-( :-(

Shower time. See you later.

We're not up to anything much today. It's a nice sunny morning, so I might get onto the garden and do a bit of tidying up from the gales we've had. OH is getting on with his roofing!!! Tomorrow we've daughter and family here for lunch, so fingers crossed for a nice day!!
Do you ever watch Poiret Mel? I think we've watched most of them by now. I only ask because you said you liked Agatha Christie!
Pheasant breasts braised in cider for supper tonight. Honeyed ham for tomorrow, it's delicious, and stretches a long way!!
Hope you're feeling better today Jane. I sometimes get problems with one of my ears which makes me woosey, and it's painful, so I do sympathise with you.

Morning Gill and All and evening Kim,

Not up to anything much today, just the usual trip to the local shop for the paper and then have a muck about with the things I am making.

Just spied next doors dog in the garden , Fred. He's lovely and a greyhound type. He always comes and greets me when I go round there to see Em and the boys.

O I know what I must do and thats go up the church for my advent ring and stand. I keep forgeting to pick it up. They have probably put it in the bell tower. Also I have a pot of mini daffs for mums grave.

Morning all

Still windy here, no snow yet, although I've just watched the forecast again and now they're saying rain, so we'll just have to wait and see what we get.

I'm wide awake, have been since 6.30am, so I got up and I'm having a nice cuppa. Hoping to finish the part of my family tree I've been on.

Hope you're feeling better now Jane.

What's everyone else up to today?

Gillx

Gillx Report 29 Jan 2016 23:27

So much for my early night. I got hungry so have just had some cheese on toast.

I've been thinking about a possible present you might like to get for your FIL Ann. Have you thought of maybe getting a picture of the plane he flew and have it framed for his room, I'm sure the staff at the home won't mind him hanging a picture on his wall and then he'd be able to see it everyday <3

Just having a cuppa then I'm off to bed.
Night Night

Gillx Report 29 Jan 2016 22:32

No David there isn't a launderette around here, but it doesn't take to long to pop it into my own dryer. All the beds are sorted and made up ready for us to sleep in now.
I love black grapes I think they taste better than the green ones.

Oh dear Frank, fancy getting the date wrong, at least your bottie won't be sore this weekend :-D :-D :-D

No we didn't tell the Agent how much we were willing to come down, but did mention that we were open to any reasonable offers, so at least they know. We haven't heard anything so can only assume no one wants to put in an offer. I think we're getting used to it it now. We have got another viewing tomorrow but they have only just put their property on the market and haven't sold yet, so we might cancel. OH is off and it would be nice to spend some time as a family plus it's forecast for SNOW so we may end up making a snowman with Sandra if we get enough of the white stuff ;-) ;-) OH needs to fix the roof tiles first thing in the morning before the snow arrives, or the rest of the tiles might slip down with the weight of the snow and we don't want that to happen.

Sorry to hear your not feeling very well Jane, hope it didn't spoil the lunch. I think you're right keeping away from the computer screen, it won't help. Try and get a good nights sleep then hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow <3

There is a free car park at our hospital Mel, it's meant to be for staff but anyone can go in and out, so patients use it too. It's only a small part of the car parking spaces, the rest you have to pay for, so you have to get an early appointment to be able to find a space in the free one.

Signing out now, I've been busy with my family tree today so I'm really tired now and might have an early night for a change.

See you all tomorrow

Well that was a wasted trip to the nurse. We have a box on the wall where we book in Month and date of birth, first letter of surname. Came up with can't find an appointment speak to reception. It turns out it's MONDAY 1st Feb 4.10 pm. Good job Rostook me up in the car, or I would have been well pis##d off walking there and back.

The wind seems to be getting stronger they say it could get wet later. Poor Scotland are getting a bashing, and it's moving south, so watch out David.

David you do come out with some bits. My wife buys black grapes most weeks, but I hardly ever eat them. I'm not a fruity person !!!!

Just put the chicken on, the veg took me ages to do this morning. I did a couple and sat down then something else and sat down. I think I am getting/feeling old.

Glad everything went well this morning Mel. These parking prices are terrible. Like you I don't know how they afford them, thank gawd we have ouyr blue badges.

Conrad SKYPED this afternoon to tell us he has his computer repaired and he's now loading oll the new business stuff on it.

Gill. There's not a lot you can do but wait and see if the couple come back to the agents. Did you mwntion to the agent that you can move a couple of Grand. ???

I don't think it's so much as missing my dad, which I do, as all of us miss our family who have passed away. There are only THREE of us left in my family. But the time I spent with him, from a very strong 70 year old weighing 15 stone to a mere shadow 18 months later of just skin and bone of about 3 or 4 stone. Seeing him come and go in and out of consciousness from the Morphine injections. Remember I was only 17/18 years old. It has scared my mind. I don't think now it will change after all these years.

I'm going down the pub tonight. There is Man. Utd Playing, and it will give me a bit of relaxation.

I suppose Jane is resting !!! after her lunch ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) Hope Chris enjoyed it.

Afternoon All,

Windy and a bit showery here! I had a wakeful night after going to bed with a headache, but felt better this morning. Beading class went well and we did bracelets with some pyramid beads. Two ladies had brought in a pile of beading books and magazines and also some wire they didn't want. I had some of the green thick wire as I think it would make little Christmas trees with pearl beads as ornaments wound around it......something to try anyway. One of my friends brought some of her eggs in too as she is inundated at the moment!

Gill, it is horrid waiting to see if you will be contacted or not about your bungalow! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

<3 <3HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHRIS <3 <3 and I hope you enjoy your mealJane.

Mel, I think whatever size you are those clamps are quite painful. I find I have to stand on tiptoes to reach as well. :-S

I hope your 'sit upon' isn't too sore Frank! Whenever you mention the injection I have an image in my head of a Carry On film with Hattie Jaques waving a large hyperdermic needle!! lol. :-)

It is FIL's 95th birthday on 2nd February. We really don't know what to get him as the War books we usually buy him, he is unable to read anymore. We tried getting him a book that was mostly photos of war planes (he was in the RAF during the war) but he gave it us to take away the next time we visited:-S :-S

OH is having 40 winks. He's had a few meetings that have run on quite late this week. I think he finds it quite frustrating, having chaired meetings himself most of his working life, that in education so many are so badly run, people turning up late, not keeping to the point, not being able to make decisions etc. It wastes everybody's time including his!! When he was working he would never have got done what he needed to do in a day if he was as inefficient.

Mel, the maximum parking charge for a day in the city car parks here is £9 too. When I finished work 15 years ago it was £4.75 a day and we had to use our cars to go visiting so had to bring them to work. One girl tried parking further from the office in some back streets and walking, but she got her car keyed all around it both sides. :-S

You're right Mel, and they're tastier than California prunes.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Jan 2016 15:47

Back fed and watered on tea and fish and chips and am stuffed now. Soon be time for another cuppa.

It went well but I parked in the carpark where the van is and it was £1 for parking for the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was the only one in there when I went in so was done in about 10 mins. Thought I would park in the other car park up the road a bit and walk into the small square for some bird seed. NO the ticket was for the car park named on it. I said to the nurses in there I had to pay £1 for 10 mins when I could have parked all day. She said to me she works in Exeter and the parking for a day there is £9. How do people who work 5 or 6 days a week manage to pay that out of their wages beats me...

David black grapes are good for you and will keep you regular!!!!

David

David Report 29 Jan 2016 12:59

My wife's taken to buying me black grapes, I must be unwell.

Gill, have you a launderette near you? They have huge driers. I used to take stuff to be dried at a one near me. Made Ellen's lot easier.

Gillx Report 29 Jan 2016 12:16

No feedback yet Frank, don't know if that's good or bad, maybe she's still working on her husband trying to get him to buy this one. Or she may of given in to him. Time will tell. Good luck with your injection later, have a hot shower when you get in, it might help and sit on a cushion for the weekend. Hope you are feeling a little better now after your bad night.

How did you get on this morning Mel, good I hope?

It is hard when people die, but they wouldn't want us to be sad. Easier said than done though.

Still very windy here, but the sun is out so that's good. I was going to peg my washing on the line but with all this wind it would probably wrap itself around the washing line, so I've decided to use the dryer instead. Saves me going out unraveling it every 5 minutes.

Getting on well with my family tree, I should be completely finished with this part soon, that'll please OH as it's his side. I would never of found any of it had it not been for the records opening for free on FMP as I had hit a brick wall.....now there's no stopping me LOL

Going to get some lunch now. Be back later.

The fact that it was 2 anniversaries Frank would have set your mind working anyway and it was just the song that you heard that started it all off again. You should try the talking books they soon send you off to sleep and the mind is on the story and not other things. Relax from your face down to your toes and think black.

I think, over the years, we've all lost people that are dear to us. My stepfather died of cancer 29 years ago on Feb 12th, 8 months after the death of my mother. I think he died of a broken heart as the cancer accelerated after her death and they were devoted to each other. My cousin, exactly 10 years younger to the day, than me died again of cancer 11 years ago. He was a lovely man and I was deeply fond of him, as well as my two maternal uncles both equally missed. Also, last, but not least, my father who died before I was born. You never forget people, but I think you have to learn to live with it. However, I do count myself lucky to have lovely and successful children(warts and all!!) beautiful grandchildren, and a fantastic OH. We've been married for 52 years on Feb 1st!! Is this a record? Will a medal be issued?!!!!
Windy and wet here, OH is contemplating the walkway! I've cleaned out the fridge! It was a vile job! done some washing, and am about to take Cas! Macaroni Cheese for supper, nice and easy!!

Frank Report 29 Jan 2016 10:57

No real change in the weather here.

Ros has taken a sample to the Drs, and I have my Testosterone injection at 4.10 this afternoon. Sore bum for the weekend ;-) ;-) ;-) The injection is so thick, they have to use a BIG needle and boy does that hurt.

Roast Chicken this evening. I got it out of the feeezer last night, so will prepare it later and do the Veg.

What's everyone upto today. I will be sitting tight, until Ros takes me to the nurse this afternoon.

Anymore feedback this morning Gill ??

David Report 29 Jan 2016 09:58

Extremely windy all night and this morning here.

We never really forget anything Frank. For nearly three years now I've been living in the moment, often living the past in memories, hoping for the future.

You've survived the last 58 years with many happy memories and accomplishments.

Tomorrow is the twenty-second anniversary of the death of my Mother. It broke my heart, and a few others at the time but, I survived it.
