I'm so pleased the blood results for Amy came back clear, I bet you're so relieved

So you've had your injection now Frank, take it easy and maybe an early night, laying down on your side might help rather than sitting in a chair.

The wind is really bad here Liz and getting worse so I don't blame you for not going out anywhere after your lunch. At least you managed to get there and had a lovely time by the sounds of it <3

Love the Christmas poem Mel ;-) ;-)

I've been looking up how to plant Canna seeds Mandy, it's not as straight forward as I thought, good job I checked. I'm looking forward to planting them, thank you :-) :-)

We're having to go to the chippy tonight as OH is still scraping the paint off the ceiling, I think he just wants to get it finished so I'm leaving him to it. There's not much left, but I have said that I want an early night tonight. He said that I could go to bed without him, but I'd feel bad if I did that, so I'll wait for him, or just ask him to stop and finish it tomorrow if it starts to get to late again. I'm so tired and have been doing some more of my family tree to keep my mind occupied so I don't fall asleep. I don't want to sleep during the day incase I don't sleep for very long tonight. The plan is to get an early night and get my body clock back to where is should be ;-) ;-)

My dad was in the navy and so wass his brother. His brother was killed on a ship that hit a mine off the Isle of Wight on its maiden voyage after a refit. Dad was stationed at the Isle of Wight when he and mum were first married. He was in charge of a Motor Torpedo boat.

No problem Frank and thankyou! I think it's because I'm so amazed at having got so far, that I've mentioned it so much!!! OH really loved his time in the Navy when he first joined, and fully intended to make a career of it, but it's not so good for married life particularly in those days when you could be away on a carrier for months on end.
I'm sure this wind is worse, and getting colder! Battening down the hatches comes to mind!

Frank Report 1 Feb 2016 17:08

Sorry Liz and Ian "Happy Anniversary" better late than never lol <3 <3

All injected for another month. 29th Feb at noon. put it on the calendar, so not to forget.

Glad the results were good Anne, I must have missed your post.

Liz, I wanted to do my National Service in the Navy, but because I am Coloured Blind I wasn't accepted. So I ended up in the RAF. I so much wanted to follow in my Fathers footsteps. !!!

Ros has been busy on our bed throw today. So it shouldn't be long before that is finished. I will send Photo's of both back and front, as the back is better than the front (I THINK) but won't say a word. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Where's our Jane, I hope she's not out enjoying herself. !!!

Chicke curry tonight. With the left overs from Friday. Then tomorrow I will do something with the lamb from yesterday.

Not sure if I will go out tonight, as there doesn't seem to be any good football on the box. So will stay in and show her what a good husband she has :-D :-D :-D

Thanks Mel, We were married Feb1st 1964,..I was just 21, and OH was 23!!! Seems quite a long time ago.because it was!!!! We lived in Falmouth for about 8 months then we moved to a village outside Penzance for 6 months, where our son was born, moving to Portland for just over a year. OH was in the Fleet airarm at this time, and was finally posted to Portsmouth and from there to civvy street! OH was one of the few young men who chose to go into the Navy for National Service, with a view to staying there. All went to plan till he wanted to marry, then the prospect of a career mostly spent away from home suddenly didn't appeal so a career change was quickly organised!!
Scrambled egg for us tonight, so nice and easy!

"Down with the rosemary, and so
Down with the bays and mistletoe;
Down with the holly, ivy, all,
Wherewith ye dress'd the Christmas Hall"
—?Robert Herrick (1591–1674), "Ceremony upon Candlemas Eve"

As the poem by Robert Herrick records, the eve of Candlemas was the day on which Christmas decorations of greenery were removed from people's homes.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Feb 2016 15:52

Happy anniversary Liz and Ian. I thought it was tomorrow. So what was mentioned for the 2nd of Feb. Thats Candlemas Day, the day they used to pair budgies up for mating and the day the wild birds are supposed to choose their mates. Christmas used to go on until Candlemas.

Was it FIL birthday Ann?

Snowdrops (galanthas nivalis) are known as Candlemas Bells because they often bloom early in the year, even before Candlemas. The superstitious used to believe that these flowers should not be brought into the house prior to Candlemas. However, it is also believed in more recent times that these flowers purify a home.

Frank Report 1 Feb 2016 15:32

Raining here now, and that wind is enough to cut you in half.

Gill, How on earth can you pair stay up untill that time. If it was for pleasure i.e. watching films or T.V. I could understand (NOT REALLY) ;-) ;-) ;-) But working would be a definate NO NO.

Any news yey Anne on the results, for Amy ??

I have that Blasted injection at 4.10 this afternoon. It's the nurse that's not very gentel, so I will be feeling it tonight,

How did you get on at the Clinic this morning Fiona ??

I haven't bothered with going down the garden to look at the fence post. I do have Two big metal stakes that I can bang into the ground to stop it moving. But I will do it when I am ready. Not when he says I should :-P :-P :-P Hateful little man.!!! When we moved into the bungalow. They would tell SID and VAL that they could see right into our lounge, their eyesight must have been good, as I can't see their windows. SO we put in some "RUSSIAN VINES" that soon blocked their views. ;-) ;-) ;-) He then complained that it was growing over his garden. TOUGH !!!

Black clouds everywhere now, so I will get Ros to take me to the Drs.

We didn't go to Cirencester, the wind is just too bad, so we're probably going at the weekend, hopefully!! The pub lunch was lovely though, and only just down the road in the village. We took Cas into the field after we came home and she had a good time chasing her dummy!! The field is turning into a quagmire and in places very slippery, so you have to be a bit careful!
Thank you Anne and Gill for your good wishes! OH said at lunch, 'here's to another 52 years! think we'd be a bit old by then, but it was a nice thought! Gill your OH does sound a bit in the wars! He was lucky the washing machine didn't cause more damage, to him I mean! You both sound a bit exhausted, so perhaps an early night will do the trick!
This wind is really strong and I shall be glad when it dies down!
Just seen your post Anne. Good news about Amy, you must have given a big sigh of relief!

Just had some good news from the vet there is nothing wrong with Amy's kidneys and her liver is about right for her age, she is prescribing some liquid medicine for the incontinence so I am very relieved she had been worrying me a lot

Gill you and your OH should try and give yourselves more" ME" time, you will be making yourselves ill if you don't take a break, does it really matter if jobs take a little longer.

Jane are you home alone now apart from the lovely Thomas of course.

Had a very strange dream last night. In it a guy I used to work with, name of Jimmy was telling me and others that Arthur had died. Then he's off. and I'm following him asking was he referring to Arthur O or Arthur W?

The dream was enough to wake me. Why the dream was strange is because it's been years since a worked with Jimmy and Arthur O is dead. Was he meaning Arthur W?

Incidentally, Jimmy died last April :-(

Afternoon all

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LIZ <3 <3 <3 Enjoy your lunch. Sorry I thought it was tomorrow. Hope all goes well for Cas

Very Windy here today but lots of sunshine and no rain ;-)

I'm so tired, we had another late night last night or should I say early morning as it was around 5am this morning when we finally got to bed. OH's decided to only do a bit today and get an early night in, as we've both shattered now.

He decided to scrape all the paint off the ceiling rather than just sand it down like I suggested. I think he is regretting it now. I didn't know he was doing it until after he'd started and now the whole ceiling needs doing. It should look much better when it's finished, but if it had been me I wouldn't of bothered. He said he did it because as he was sanding more and more paint was chipping off. For some reason the paint isn't sticking and keeps flaking off, so once he's finished scrapping all the paint off and I've filled the holes he's made, he is going to either do a miss coat of paint or a watered down PVA solution before re-painting the whole ceiling.

Our washing machine broke yesterday, we had power but it wouldn't take the water and kept stopping, so OH decided to take a look at it today and as he was lifting it out of the back door to the patio his hand slipped and he lost his grip on the machine and fell backwards onto the patio and the washing machine landed on top of him. He's now got a sore elbow.......it's not stopping him scrapping the ceiling though. I don't think he's going to be able to do much as he's in a lot of pain, he even rang work to say he wouldn't be in tomorrow as he thinks he might have to go and get it checked out if it gets any worse. He seems to be making a lot of bad decisions lately and is now in a bad mood again......I'm just keeping out of the way. To be honest I'm to tired to do anything today, but I'm trying to stay awake so I can have an early night and get my body clock back to normal. I don't mind pulling all nighter's but not two on the run, I feel like a ZOMBIE

I have read the posts but can't seem to remember much so if I miss anyone out I'm sorry.

Have you heard from the vet yet Anne with Amy's results? Hope it's not to serious and can be sorted soon for her.

Oh David all that just to have a bath, I think you should get something to help you or stick to a shower in future, you don't want to have a fall and do more damage. Please take care <3

I love the pictures of the blankets Frank, Ros is so clever and weren't they lovely colours? I did laugh at Lewis winding you up with his rave joke :-) :-)
Neighbours can be a bit daft sometimes can't they, I agree with you, why didn't he just get on and do the job, you would of noticed next time you were down there anyway.

Sorry to hear you're not well Fiona, hope you are feeling better soon.

The presents you have got for your FIL Ann sound lovely. I love liquorice and chocolate too, separately of course LOL.

How nice that your OH is being lovely to you Mel, my OH is in such a bad mood I'm just keeping out of his way.

Going to get a cuppa now, I might have a bath later and then put some washing on when OH has finished for the day, he said he was only doing a few hours and the washing is mounting up a bit with not being able to do any for a day or two. OH managed to fix the machine, there were things blocking the motor so once he removed them the machine worked and is like new again :-D :-D

Very windy here today. Just had son on the phone to wish us a happy anniversary! He can't believe that we've been married for 52 years, and thinks we both deserve a medal! Can't quite work out if that's a compliment or not !!!! We're having a pub lunch, then we're taking Cas over to her breeder for him to assess her training!! Cuddles?!! Could be too much information!!! ;-)
Just going to put the Hoover round, then we're off!

Morning my Lovelies, and of course our Kim,

Fiona, I do hope the Dr. finds your problem, and can give you something to buck you up.

Mel, Those Magpies will pinch anything. We ofter put a lamb bone out and they are down on it before you can get back indoors. Greedy blighters !!! You had better keep your eye on your OH he must be after something !!!!

Anne I agree, Vera was a bit slow. I had a job to follow it. The background music sends pains through my head. Why do they need all this noise. My Doctor said I am affected because of my stroke. I just can't stand loud noises. The MUTE button gets so muych use in ouyr houae. !!!

How are you feeing this morning David ?? after all that exerton yesterday I would think you will need a quite day.

Neighbour at the bottom of the garden was on the phone before 9.00 am. MOANING about a post that's worked loose in the wind. We haven't been down the bottom of the garden for weeks, so how any why should I be bothered. He has said he will put a stake in it. Why bother telling me, I would have just got on and done it. :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Nothing special with the weather here, dull with plenty of wind. No RAIN YET !!!

Anne

Anne Report 1 Feb 2016 10:14

Fiona, I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well this past week, lets hope the doctor will be able to prescribe something once the results of your blood tests come through.

Frank, Ros is a very talented lady those blankets are really beautiful and so bright and cheerful, they will be very appreciated I'm sure.

We watched Vera last night and guessed who the culprit was quite early on but didn't expect it to end like it did. I thought it was a little slow to start with though.

Paul and Richard enjoyed their steaks I had southern fried chicken goujons you can cook these from frozen I always have some in the freezer as the girls like them and they don't take long to cook

I took Amy out earlier than usual as I didn't want to miss the vet when she rang, we didn't go far as she was still tired from yesterday.

I'm expecting Paul to call in soon as he left his work shoes here yesterday, he is on a late shift this week which means he can't pick the girls up from school.

Pinch and a punch and all that nonsense.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Just not nice here today, wet and windy as usual and cold with it. The jackdaws are pinching all the birds food and bread I put out for them littlies.

It sounds to me like David had quite an ordeal with his bath yesterday. It sounds to me like you need some kind of aids and I hope you don't lock the bathroom door whilst you are in there. If you had an accident nobody would be able to get to you.

I too like Miriam whatshername and Wayne Sleep and am looking forward to see what they get up to this week.

Anyone see the Winter Watch programs? I am now looking forward to the Springwatch.

Hope Amy's tests come back ok for you Anne.

Oh seems in a good mood this morning as I just got a punch and a pinch from him in a good sort of way so I gave him a pinch and a kick for being so quick and then we had a cuddle. I seem to be getting a lot of cuddles lately.............is it just because my birthday is looming? or does he want something I ask myself?

Morning All, Evening Kim.

Not been at all well this past week, continually weary, very pale, no appetite, been sleeping through the day which is not me, and always feeling the cold, can't get heated up.
Went to see the doctor this morning, and he has refereed me to the local health clinic in Hamilton for blood tests, I might have a virus / or my under active thyroid is playing up. it messes with my head to :-| :-| :-| :-| Grrr

Phoned and got a appointment at 10.50 this morning.
