I,m off shopping.

I bet Jane is having a nice drinky poo with Fitz. Frank I expect they are having wine and more wine.......

Good the ceiling is now finished Gill and you will soon be able to get it painted.

Me mentioning Distemper brought some memories back did'nt it?

Still wondering how Ann's FIL is........... <3

Well ,I have done Dauphenoise (sp) potato's to go with the warmed up lamb and veg for tonight. Hoovered through, that took all of 5 minutes. lol and emptied the W/M bath mats in the T/D other bits on the small line. It will save Ros a job when she gets back from Tesco. We do try towork together, it's only fair.

Gill your OH had better take it easy, he shouldn't be doing anything if his arm is hurting.

I see that a man has been charges with that girls murder in Northampton. It's the pub that she worked at that Tony and I go to on occassions to watch the football. She might have served me, for all I know.

Still Blue sky, but I have just been to the garage and that wind is still very cold.

I bet Jane is in the middle of liunch with Fitz, I wonder what they are having. ???

I will walk to the pub tonight as there are some good matches on. Not sure which will be on T.V. but it will be better than some of the rubbish that's on other channels. ;-) ;-)

The building was stood empty and possibility of it becoming derelict Gill.
Two reasons it became student accommodation. Over the road from it is a busy filling station and garage. Demolition would have caused chaos. And we have a huge student population in this city. A university and a polytechnic. The former factory affords excellent accommodation, and possibly an income. The students give a huge boost to the garage shop. It all works out :)

Mum's just gone and taken Sandra with her for a few hours while I get on with the filling on the ceiling, OH is having a day off as his elbow is sore from the fall he had yesterday. He should of been in work today but would be of no use to any one not being able to use his arm properly. He doesn't think anything is broken just badly bruised.

I've noticed there are a lot of old warehouses being converted into accommodation now David. We're getting more like America everyday.

Well, I'd better get on with this filling before mum brings Sandra back

Gill, back in 1945 my Mother worked at the distemper part of
Dampny's Paint Factory
which became Berger Chemicals then British Paints.
It's student accommodation now.

Morning all

Still windy here but sunny with it and no rain, although the clouds are gathering so I expect some rain later.

Sorry to hear about your FIL Ann, hope he's better today and has a lovely birthday. Happy birthday to him.

Our bungalow was build in the late 1920's Frank, so before the war. All the paint is off now apart from a few small bits but they have been sanded so hopefully once the PVA and water solution goes on it, the paint should stick........hopefully anyway.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today Fiona <3

OH and I had a good nights sleep last night and feel much better for it today. OH is clearing out the gutters at the moment, with all this wind there is quite a bit of rubbish in them and we don't want them blocked.
Mum has just arrived so I'd better go.

See you all later

Morning all and evening Kim,

Not bad here this morning as we have a little sunshine.

How is FIL this morning please Ann?

I have all the crocus out in the orchard. I went and had a look at them yesterday and all the snowdrops because I don't think there are as many as there used to be. When I walked over there a lot of the flowers on the snowdrops are missing. The pheasents are eting the flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!! no wonder they look thinner than they used to.

Frank Report 2 Feb 2016 10:12

Good morning all Evening Kim,

Oh Annx, what a shame for FIL. Have you had any news this morning ??

Mel, What a coincidence, my dad was on the HMS "COURAGEOUS" that was refitted into a another type of vessel from an Air Craft Carrier. She got sank on her maiden voyage, which I think was off the I.O.W. Could it be the same boat ??? My eldest Brother was A STOKER on the MTBs also. Sunk three times but survived to tell the tales (NOT) he never mentioned them

That was very strange a woman telling you all her martiage problems Ann. Did you feel like "MARJORIE PROOPS" the old agony aunt of years ago. I thought you were going to say she was interested in FIL house. !!!

Jane how did you get on with Thomas, did he let you sleep. ?? Chris sounds as if he is back in his CHILDHOOD taking photo's like that of his hat :-D :-D ;-) ;-)

Gill During and after the war you could only get distemper. It was a power that you mixed with water. All ceilings were painted in it. I wouldn't have thought your house/bungalow would be that old that it would have tht on the ceilungs. When was youyr house built.

Rain first thing here, but now clear blue sky, but the wind still looks cold.

Food and shower time, so see you later.

Annx Report 1 Feb 2016 22:07

Evening All,

Belated <3HAPPY ANNIVERSARY <3 Liz and may you have many more!

My dad was in the army during the war. I think he'd already signed up before war broke out. He served most of his time out in India, but was in Burma and Egypt too. He complained about being in the desert and having to paint rocks white where they were camped. He drove and maintained tanks as a gun layer and was qualified to train others, telling some hair raising tales of the unpredictability of starting the tanks up when they would set on fire and it would be 'everybody out' ASAP! Also of tanks tipping over going up steep slopes. He also found an old motorbike that wouldn't go and stripped it down and mended it. He said he was riding it round having just got it going when a senior officer commandeered it!! There are photos of him in tropical gear, but my sister's ex husband took and kept all our family photos after mum died.

Good news about Amy's results Ann, you must be so pleased. :-)

I got to sleep before midnight last night for a change, but woke at 4.00am and couldn't get back to sleep after that. OH heard me nipping to the loo and got up and made me a cuppa. :-) The dog next door was barking by 7.00am, then the queue of beeping lorries were reversing down the close by 8.00am bringing building materials for the new houses being built. :-S

I went with OH to Melton this afternoon as he had a meeting at the council offices. We were quite early so called in Morrisons to get the papers. We have one on subscription and get coupons to hand in so it is free where you buy it. Well, it had gone up in price today and the cashier said we'd have to pay the extra 5p!! OH was having none of it and pointed out that the coupon clearly said a prepaid copy of the paper would be provided on production of the voucher. The man insisted the till wouldn't take it and didn't seem to see there was an obligation, saying the newspaper can't have told them the price had gone up, so OH asked to see the manager. The man then tried phoning the manager and said he couldn't get hold of him and would try again a bit later. OH told him to just give him the coupon back and he would go and find him himself!!! Off we went and found a supervisor. She saw what we meant, reported the problem and came and told the assistant not to charge us anything. He obviously didn't like it and as we were leaving told OH that there would be other people affected and that OH should ring the paper to tell them. OH just loudly said to him that the problem was not ours, it was an internal problem for them to sort out with the paper themselves!!! The cheeky bounder, I bet the newspaper had told them of the price change and they just hadn't updated their tills to cope with it!!!

It was very bracing, but uplifting walking around Melton and it has a few lovely old buildings. I managed to find The Regal this time, which is an art deco cinema that has been restored and is very plush in pink and purple inside, also the Dickinson and Morris pork pie shop that was full of tempting things.

Then I got into conversation with a lady outside an estate agent's window. She was telling me she was looking for a house herself and as we chatted told me she and her son were moving out of their house as she and her husband were only 'friends' these days. She said they were good friends, he was a lovely man, still buys her whatever she wants, clothes, furniture etc and couldn't see what was wrong with their marriage. She said it was sex with him she just didn't want anymore and that her friends had suggested if that was all that was wrong, she should just find men for that purpose! We both agreed that it wasn't as simple as that! We agreed you can't pinpoint when it happens, but one day you realise the spark has gone and that there is nothing you can do to get it back. We chatted for ages and it reminded me in some ways of the decline of my first marriage and then I wished her the best of luck and hoped things work out for them all. When I told OH, he said 'how on earth does a stranger tell you all that?' I told him 'these things just happen sometimes'.

Jane I think Chris will be glad of his trapper hat if this wind keeps blowing! I hope Thomas lets you have a good night's sleep and doesn't want to go hunting too early! :-S

Sorry to hear you haven't been well Fiona. As I read your symptoms, being someone who has an underactive thyroid, it did sound as if that might be a cause. Hopefully they will soon get you sorted out. Have you had much snow where you are?

Hope you aren't too sore Frank........in cartoons you would have a pillow tied to your BTM!! Good luck with the search for a car for Lewis. As you say, he wants a small engine with free road tax that will cut costs, especially with the insurance. They say putting an adult on the insurance can bring premiums down too as long as he is the main driver.

It's FIL's 95th tomorrow so we'll be going to the home in the morning bearing gifts. Then OH has a meeting in the afternoon and is off to footie in the evening, so I should get lots done!

Gillx Report 1 Feb 2016 21:55

I've just noticed all the posts on this page after I sent my post, it didn't show before that. I've had a few problems with my laptop today that might explain things.

Yes Mandy, OH did fix the machine, but it's a bit late to do much washing now. I've popped a quick wash on while Sandra and I watch big brother and started running a bath for OH, he's so dusty.

I'm going to fill in a few holes in the ceiling tomorrow ready for OH to put the PVA solution on, then he can paint it again, hopefully the paint will stick better after that and won't flake off again. That's the reason OH scrapped all the paint off in the first place, although I think he soon regretted starting that job.

Thanks for letting me know how you plant your canna seeds Mandy. Yes one website said to soak them for 48 hours and another said to scrape the seeds to show a bit of white before planting them, but I think I'll do things your way with you saying it works.

You're on your own now Jane......well almost. You did make me laugh when you were telling us about Chris's hat. He sounds a very funny man with a great sense of humour :-D :-D
So you're getting another hire car, it's not yellow is it??? ;-) ;-) Enjoy your lunch with Fitz tomorrow.

I've never heard of distemper Mel, will the paint stick to the ceiling now OH has taken all the old paint off and will the PVA and water solution work to seal it?

Well, I'd better go and check on OH's bath and the washing machine, then I can go to bed. My mum is coming around at 10.30 in the morning so I'll have to get up to let her in and with not having much sleep for the last two nights I don't want to sleep in to late tomorrow.

Bye for now <3 <3

Evening All
No Frank I haven't been out enjoying myself. In fact I haven't been out at all today.
Chris left for Suffolk just after 9 this morning and has arrived safely. He face timed earlier and showed me his hotel room.It looks very comfortable but no view.He has been for a walk along the beach at Aldeburgh and nearly got blown away ! He will have a meal at the hotel tonight and then tomorrow is going to Southwold.
I made him take that hat I bought him for Christmas. The trappers hat wit Rabbit fur.I don't think he really likes it :-S..But he has been taking pictures of it LOL..One was the hat on a pole looking out over the beach, another of it on the passenger seat of his car and one of the Hat having a nap on the bed before dinner !!!!...Daft thing :-D.I am expecting more pics of it LOL
Then today I have just been catching up on all the laundry, trying to sort out a courtesy car, booking someone from Homeserve to come and deal with our badly dripping tap in the kitchen, answering the phone (to all sorts of cold calls :-S),ironing and other bits of housework.I have also emptied the cupboard under the kitchen sink in case the plumber needs to get under there...Where does all the stuff come from !!!!!!!

Oh Gill ,I think you need to have an early night tonight. You and OH will be making yourselves ill again working through the nights .Thank goodness the fall and washing machine didn't do more damage to OH !..You certainly go at things don't you once a job is started.

Fiona ,I hope that you are soon feeling better and that it is nothing more than a nasty virus that you have <3

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LIZ AND IAN <3 <3...Sorry I am a bit late.

Ann I am so pleased for you that Amy's blood results were ok :-D :-D :-D.That is really good news.

David I have the strangest of dreams. Some make sense and some are just totally bonkers !!

So it is me and the cat tonight.I don't count James LOL He will disappear upstairs soon.
I will try and get Thomas to sleep on the bed tonight.Hopefully he might just sleep a bit longer than 5.15 !!!
Tomorrow Fitz is coming for lunch.I bet the plumber will turn up when he is here.
Just found a message on my answerphone from the garage to say there is a courtesy car for me tomorrow afternoon !!!.I must have been out getting the towels in off the line so missed it.I will have to ring back in the morning and say I will have to leave it now until Wednesday morning. The Plumber could be here anytime from 12 -6pm.

Have you a sore bum now then Frank after your jab?It does sound a painful injection :-S
Time for dinner.Just a nice easy ready meal tonight for me and James :-D :-D....Not sure James is that impressed really lol.But hey ! It's food :-D.

Thomas has just gone out :-S..I just hope he isn't wanting to stay out too long.I quite fancy an early night.

It sounds to me as though you have distemper on your kitchen ceiling Gill. Thats a evil to remove and if you paint over it it just peels off. I had that on a very smal ceiling in the cottage I lived in in Alphamstone. I could'nt figure out why the paint kept coming off.

Evening all,

Another blustery day here but at least it has stayed dry .

<3 Happy Anniversary <3 to you both Liz, i had to smile at OH's here's to another 52 that's the sort of thing my hubby would say :-)
It will be our Ruby wedding in June forty years !!

Anne i'am so pleased the results were good for Amy ,you must be so relieved , we do worry over our animals, after all they are part of the family .

I hope your soon feeling better Fiona and and the doctor can give you some thing to help once you've had the blood test .

Yes we watched the Winter Watch Mel, did you see them on Friday sitting out ,the snow was coming down and the wind was howling and getting worse ,i thought they were going to get burnt from the sparks that were blowing out of the fire in the fire pits !! :-0

Oh Gill you need to have a good nights sleep tonight ,you will be feeling poorly again if you keep having such late nights or should i say early mornings!! :-)
I expect your OH is tired too and that's not helping his mood , he was lucky he didn't really hurt his self when getting the machine out the door , did he manage to fix the problem ?

Sore bottom for you tonight then Frank :-0
Looking forward to seeing a photo of the bed cover Ros is making ,that's quite a big project to do .

I wonder how Jane got on at the garage with her car .

Senior Service Mel!!! Only the best people etc etc!!!!! I don't really think that as you all know!!
OH out chatting (and he can chat for England!) to our neighbour who had a water pipe leak this afternoon out in the road somewhere between us and his farm! nothing to do with us as we have our own well, but OH will want to know the outcome!!!
Cas is exhausted! Think the wind has made her skittish!!
