Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 May 2026 08:04

Morning Anng and all,

Nice bright morning at the mo and its 8 degrees with rain expected about 12 noon. It rained again last night and before it was dark the sky came over quite grey. In fact I as type there is grey cloud coming over the blue and white out the front to the north.

Its me to Stu's tonight but I really don't feel like it as he said he was going to do a Tika Masarla curry and I don't like that and with this bout of indigestion I need to steer away from spicey things. Also I have been sneezing a lot and think I have a cold.

Annx hope the car passes its MOT today. You had a lovely time with Fitz with a good lunch and chat.

Anng hope the pain across your tummy has eased this morning and enjoy your afternoon with the Garden Interest Group.

AnninGlos Report 14 May 2026 07:53

good morning all. quite bright but a lot of cloud around 7 degrees. This afternoon is our Gardening Interests meeting but this time, to give me a break, it is at one of the other member's house. I am being picked up at 1.45. Nothing planned for this morning beyond shower and hair wash.

Ann It sounds as if you had a great meeting with fitz Good that the restaurant were happy for you to sit and talk, sometimes it is difficult to find places like that. Hope that your 'rest' day yesterday has let you recover.

Annx Report 13 May 2026 20:23

Evening All,

It was mostly sunny for my trip out yesterday, but there have been some really sharp showers today.

I was surprised to find my journey to meet Fitz, which takes at least 45 minutes, was just as potholey and obstructed with roadworks as nearer home. We sat and chatted by their log fire for about an hour before we went to our table which Fitz had booked overlooking the garden. I always think of Jane and us looking at the menus, as we were both more choosey than Fitz and would be avoiding the shellfish and Jane the rocket and me the anchovies! I could only manage a starter and main course, but the starter was delicious, some really tasty orange, heritage tomato with a globe of italian burrata cheese which I hadn't had before, but liked. I decided on the rare treat for me of a sausage main course and Fitz had Chicken Supreme, which I quite fancied, but I wasn't sure what capers were that it had in itI They turned out to be little buds of something. We then went back to the log fire and had coffees that came with white chocolates and carried on chatting. Jane's sister Janice's husband Larry is having radiotherapy for prostate cancer, poor chap and Fitz remarked again on what a lovely, chinese influence garden Chris has at his bungalow. Fitz's wife is retired now and they have four grandchildren now. Time just flew and before we knew it it was 5.30pm so we made tracks as we were almost the last ones there. OH asked me about the food available when I got home and chuckled while he asked if I'd be coming home and saying I'd had goat's testicles next!! lol.

I've felt quite tired today, so OH took me out for a simple but nice lunch of a bun with strips of cod on a home made tartare sauce, home made red cabbage coleslaw and salad. The lady we know well served us and she slipped us extra biccies.

I'll catch up with the posts tomorrow as I've spent ages on the phone talking to a bot that couldn't answer what I wanted to know and, when I did eventually get to speak to a person, they needed to transfer me and the wretched bot was back again and made me go through the process all over again. I need to go to bed now as we need to be up at 7.00am in the morning to shower and take OH's car in for service and MOT by 8.00am. Sleep well everyone.

Edit: Ofgem is the industry regulator for gas and electricity Mel and I imagine they have to comply with them.

Mel google Ofgem and it will tell you what they do but I can’t see how their failure to pay out can be affected by ofgem

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2026 18:06

I have just been on to EDF about my solar money and after a long wait to actually speak to someone he tells me because my photo I sent on the 18th March was'nt clear enough for them to see the meter number they did'nt pay out. I sent two pics over a week ago like I was told and the lady said I would have my money within 5 to 10 working days. Nothing.......now this man tells me I can't have the payment till 29th June when the next reading goes in. That money could have been in my bank earning more money, He said it was to do with ofgen whatever that is. Now why did'nt they come back to me and ask for the meter number when I sent the first reading in in March? It makes me so cross that they are using my money becasue they can't tell people what they want pictures of. It means I have lost two months interest on that money.

AnninGlos Report 13 May 2026 17:58

Isn’t it annoying when you get a twi by pain meaning probably a tweaked muscle? And you have no idea how you did it.

I have a muscle pain across my front on my waste I either did it when pottering I. The garden doing odd things or this morning I was sorting stuff in a narrow side cupboard by a built in wardrobe and had to twist to reach in to get something

I have never known anyone drinking milk and hot water Mel do you have it often. Are you still suffering indigestion?

It will seem strange having a female, I explained my hearing problem to the receptionist and her email back giving me an aPpointment with one of the three females said she is sure I will have no problem understanding her when she speaks.

Enjoy your coffee morning with your friends. We have now had two heavy showers one of which looked like sleet.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2026 17:16

Can you still get Bridge Rolls? Mum used to buy those if we had a party they were nice.

SuffolkVera Report 13 May 2026 16:21

It’s 10 or 11 degrees here but it feels much colder. Like Mandy we’ve had sunshine and showers all day. I’ll check them but I’m hoping the pots won’t need watering tonight.

I’ve found it hard to get motivated to do anything today and have just pottered about. I shall have to get myself moving tomorrow as we have friends coming for coffee at 11 am and I’d like to wield a duster and have a wipe round the downstairs loo before they arrive.

I hope you have got your eye appointment sorted out AnnG. It’s a shock when these practitioners retire and you have to start over with a new one. We had the same problem a few years ago when our dentist retired. His was a one man practice but luckily a larger practice in the same town agreed to take on a few of his patients and we now go there.

Those custard cream biscuits sound interesting Mandy. I used to make a coffee cream biscuit which went down well but they are fiddly to make so I haven’t done them for ages.

This talk of biscuits makes me think it’s time for a cuppa. I think I fancy a nice Digestive or maybe a Ginger Nut.

AnninGlos Report 13 May 2026 14:48

Still 12 here but, although it looks quite pleasant outside, it is sunny, the wind is really strong which makes it feel cold and not so pleasant. I haven't done a lot, woked out the Tesco order for Saturday, my shops used to average around £55, now it is 75-80. Things keep on going up. I have also done a bit of admin, sorted out my dates with daughter and given the microwave a good clean, I had obviously had a bit of an explosion of baked beans and forgotten it. Oh and, as I said before, dead headed the roses I could reach, the top branches are very tall.
Trying to book my annual eye test and was shocked to find my optomodrist has retired. He has been checking my eyes for years and now I have three I don't know to choose between. I think my eyes are ok so hopefully I won't need new glassses.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2026 14:35

Sounds interesting Mandy can we have a pic and let us know what they taste like please?

I made a big pot of soup yesterday and today I had two smallish bowls for lunch with a nice inch thick slice of wholemeal dry. So far so good. Hav'nt the foggyist what I am goijng to have tonight for dinner as I hav'nt anymore rice pud.

I have been forgetting to watch Gardeners World and am catching up at lunchtimes. I have just gone by Easter so still a lot tocatch up on.

No rain here but a dreadful strong wind from the west I think. Its blowing everything about and its cold. Blue sky and white clouds and its 11 degrees so you're warmer than me today Anng. Just ooked and its gone up to 12.

MillymollyAmanda Report 13 May 2026 13:32

Its been raining here off and on all morning so we haven't been out in the garden ,I've put a load of washing in the machine ,hoovered through and cleaned the downstairs bathroom .
This afternoon I want to have a go at a recipe i found for some little custard cream biscuits /cookies .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 May 2026 12:19

It is 12 degrees but very windy and the wind is making it feel colder than it should be. No rain at all, it seems to be all or nothing with rain depending where you live. I have been down the garden dead heading the climbing roses to try and reduce the weight as the wind is really blowing them around.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2026 10:47

Just realised I read the post and did'nt post myself!!

Morning all,

Its 11 degrees and sunny at the mo but it has rained in the night or early morning as the cars are wet and the road and its not dried up. Pc is still telling me 4 rainy days starting Saturday.

Must do the bin today as it refuse day tomorrow and they come so early we have to get them out tonight.

Going to attempt to prick out some of the self sown Box seedlings today but first I need to give the girls some greens and clean their nest box out and then do a few other things before that.

Hope you all slept well I did and no indigestion as I had a tin of rice for dinner last night with a mug of half milk half hot water and a small bit of chocolate.
