I could almost smell the sea reading your post AnnG! I can't remember when I last saw the sea now. The new restaurant sounds good for future stays too. It's a long promenade isn't it and must have been very welcome work fo the men in those times. The dog roses in those colours must have looked pretty as well as having the lovely perfume.
That's good you have another trip planned for September and more views of the sea. My second trip to the Isle of Wight was about two months after my hysterectomy and I remember walking along the cliff tops up a slight hill and having to lie flat on a bench at the top for a while while my insides rested and sorted themselves out. All of a sudden a little Jack Russell face popped up at the side of my head and made me jump!

Afternoon All,
It's been sunny here up to now and warm. I've sprayed more of the nasty weed in the gravel on the front and while I popped to the shop OH hoovered the main rooms till the battery ran out.
Gosh you have done well getting all that strimming done and still have energy for doing along the drive Mel. I like your comment about BIL getting tied up with his tongue and must remember that to say to OH when he gets chatting.
Your spell check problem is because the spellcheck is telling you the spelling of the words with the red squiggly line under isn't quite right. Once you correct the spelling the squiggly line will disappear. It mostly seems because you have put the apostrophes in the wrong place. The apostrophe replaces a letter in a word, so havn't is really 'have not' and should be haven't so the apostrophe replaces the "o" in the word 'not'. Did'nt is the same and should be didn't and dos'nt should be doesn't. AnnG is right as well that the spellcheck won't know some words or words like 'AnnG' and will put squiggles under those as it thinks they are spelt wrong.
I think BIL is right about getting the oil tank filled now. They were talking about the prices going up next month I think they said on tv. Also about thefts of oil from tanks. Some businesses have big oil tanks.
I hope your side soon eases Mandy. Mine is slowly improving, but if I forget getting in bed and the car it soon protests. You can't believe these things are so easily done with a bit of bending can you as there's hardly any warning of what's to come when you do it!
Better get lunch now. Now there's no footie to go to OH's mind is on food!

I felt exhausted just reading that Mel. That sounds as if it is soon going to be too much for you to do. Maybe look for a local odd job man if there is one who doesn’t charge too much, to do it. With the mowing it would be too much for your BiL to do I am sure.
Mandy sounds as if you twisted awkwardly, and hopefully if you rest it, it will ease.
We went for a nice walk along the promenade in Maryport. It made a change from walking round the docks walk (which I do enjoy) because the tide was in and going out and the sea was rough. We had a coffee in a new restaurant that is there now and we’re very impressed with it.
Interesting to read the board along the promenade that explained it was built starting in 1937 when the local council employed so many men over 35 that were out of work for six weeks at a time. Poverty was rife in the area. The prom is 2 kilometres in length from start to finish. We only walked a part of it along a long stretch has been planted dog rose bushes, red and white and their perfume was strong.
So that was my farewell to the sea until my break in September when we go to the Isle of Wight.
Tomorrow will be packing.

Can Colin bring me a cold drink please. I have been strimming. Done some in the orchard but its still too wet so passed on to the edge of the west lawn where the mower dos.nt reach then down the side of the bungalow round the back and down to the back fence and round that and back up to the garage round that and the bit by the sunflowers on the shed and a bit out the back fence and then I got hot so had to come in. Tried to take the battery off and after far too many attempts I did it so its now on charge. My arm is feeling funny too.
Think I will have a drink and take my pill and then go and have a sweep up and cut down along the sides of the road.
BIL has finished mowing and taken the mower back up the top and I expect he's now tied up with his tongue.

Morning all,
Bright morning but not a lot of sun ,should be more sun later and get warmer .
I haven't done much the last day or so as my side has been so painful ,I planted those little marigolds out and I think it must have been the bending over set it off again , I had to prop myself up in bed last night as lying flat seemed to make my side feel as if something was pulling ,the muscle , it feels a little better this morning but then it did yesterday but by the end of the day it was hurting again so I've been taking some pain killers .
That was a lot of money for that locksmith but they might have charged more as she kept ringing and they knew they were desperate to get back in .
Oh here comes Colin with a nice cup of coffee bbl

Mel do you mean on a tablet it doesn’t like those words. Haven’t is ok on here as well as the other words you mention. Sometimes the wiggly line is when it doesn’t like the English spelling and wants American.

It must be so upsetting for the lady if her hubby is not good o his feet and both have health issues but I don't think she should have kept ringing up every 5 mins. Perhaps thats why the price was so high.
I have suddenly got spell check on my pc and its not just on here and I keep getting these little red wiggley worms under words. There see it did'nt like wiggley and it dos'nt like did'nt or dos'nt or hav'nt and many other things too. O yes it dos'nt like thats either. ( red sorms on the page now but they don't come out when I post the post.

Evening All,
After a little drizzle first thing it's been sunny and quite warm today, positively hot in the conservatory.
It's been frustrating trying to sort something online and finding it hadn't saved it by the time I finished. Then when I tried to open a saver account as the last one had matured, I had gone all through the process and transferred a payment into it and was about to set up a standing order when it told me there was a problem. not my fault, but that my application wasn't processed and to try later! To think they used to tell us things were easier online!! OH had problems too. We both had the same car insurance company last year and you are supposed to be able to add another car. It was fine with just my car on there, but I hadn't noticed that when I added OH's car policy it had taken mine off! We decided this year to make things simple that OH would set what was my account under his own email and I got them to restore my car policy back under my email by reregistering with a new account. All was well till OH tried to log on to his account today and it wouldn't accept his logon details. After a lengthy chatbot chat that didn't help he was put through to a person. Apparently it was their fault as they hadn't removed some of my old login info, but they've sorted it now. These things do take a chunk out of your day though.
Your chickens are spoiled getting Melon Mel. It seems everyone else liked it too. I can see why your Raven knocks at the door now! It's a horrid shock when you lock yourself out so I sympathise and it was lucky Em was at home! All the locks on ours don't lock if the doors slam, but I did trap myself in the back garden that time when I left the front door open, came round the back shutting the padlock on the gate as I was sure the conservatory round the back was unlocked and it wasn't and I hadn't got the padlock key with me to get back round the front. I must admit I keep a locksmith's phone number on my mobile now, just in case.
Well I have had all the things you had for your Turkish meal AnnG and enjoyed everything except the Baclava which I found too sweet. One of the beading group brought some for us one Christmas and I just had a small bit.
It looks like it will get hot here a week today, so I'd better get the rest of my plants in this week. I sprayed the nasty weed on our driveway today. This weedkiller seems to be killing it off!
I must look your Hebes up Vera as they sound nice. That was costly for your neighour and much more than AnnG's £45 wasn't it. Perhaps they treated it as an emergency callout with an extra charge. With the unpredictability of today's traffic holdups I wouldn't have chased them unless they were really late, so I agree and wouldn't upset someone coming to help either!.

Did you get to the foot doctor Mel? The raven was determined to have that melon so I hope your girls got a good feed of it first.
It was dull and a bit chilly this morning but it brightened up and stayed dry. It’s quite sunny and warm now though there’s quite a strong breeze blowing.
A lot of our close family birthdays occur between end of May and beginning of July and today it’s the turn of another granddaughter, the horsey one. Happy birthday E.
I did a couple of jobs this morning and then planted my new hebes in one of the troughs. They are called Wild Romance and are part of the Magic Colours range. They are very pretty so I hope they do well. I’m a bit concerned that it might be a bit shady for them where they are.
I was coming in just after midday when I saw my neighbour and her husband dithering about on their doorstep. They are both in poor health and he is very unsteady on his feet as well. Apparently they had slammed their front door and couldn’t get back in because there was a key in the lock inside. OH tried to knock the key out but it’s a good security lock and it didn’t budge. So they came into ours and rang a locksmith company who said they would be half an hour. Dead on 30 minutes the wife was on the phone to them to ask where they were and rang every 5 minutes till they arrived. I did say to her in the end that she would set their backs up and they would end up not coming at all. Eventually the locksmith arrived, wasn’t there for 10 minutes and charged them just over £200!! I wonder if they upped the price a bit because of her attitude.
This put us all behind so we had a very late lunch and I’ve prepared tonight’s meal and done the veg to go with tomorrow’s roast lamb. Then I went out and planted the last trough up with the Busy Lizzies I bought. Now I’m sitting on the bed with my feet up giving my back a rest.
I hope the weather is also nice where you are. Enjoy it while you can.

Feet done and went up the shop with another little parcel and came home and what had I done????? Locked myself out, forgot to take my keys with me. Rang Em as she has a spare key and I was just hoping she was'nt out somewhere and luckily she was'nt . as I was waiting for her to come round BIL arrived so I said to him had he got my back door key and he had taken it off his keyring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway Em arrived and I got back in.
BIL stayed for quite a while nattering away. By this time it was way past my lunchtime and pill taking so I had to say to him I must take my pills and have something to eat. So he went outside and filled the mower with petrol and got the cans ready to go to the petrol station to refill them.
I had something to eat, poached egg on toast and a couple of small apples and now I am going to do a bit in the garden.

That piece of melon went a long way then Mel. I loved watching all the rabbits when we were at zsawfey they are very entertaining. No wonder Beatrix Potter used them in her stories.

When I got up and looked out the bedroom window there was a very large rabbit eating the grass , swallows swooping over that grass and a little flock of blue tits and the Raven munching away on the melon I had given the chickens last night with their corn. How it got it out of the run I don't know unless the girls had eaten quite a bit of it beforehand. Each time a big bird flew over it picked it up in its beak as if it was ready to fly off with it. I had one of its feet on it pecking away whilst pecking chunks off and eating it . then the rabbit decided to have a wash of its face so sat on its hind legs to do that. Then the Raven did fly off with the chunk it folded it in two and went off to the west lawn as when I came into the kitchen to make my coffee it was there still eating away.

Good morning all, dry here at the moment a bit brighter but rain due soon. Nothing planned except a trip to Morrisons to refill the cupboard.
Our meal out at the Turkish restaurant meant I was not I. Bed until gone eleven last night. I slept quite well in between a couple of the usual loo visits.
According to the forecast Sat and Sunday should be brighter and warmer and dry.
